    I’ve read some of the replies and man are you people off, this man is and has been a household name for years. Any time he wants he could fill any stadium,arena or bar in the USA. I hope he writes the story of his life , he’s one of the the guys who knew them all and their are not many left to tell the story’s….I wish I could see what he lived on screen. It’s gotta be priceless

    • @darlincommitme
      @darlincommitme 2 года назад +1

      I have been to see him about 20 times indifferent places. I love him, but he does not fill stadiums any more. Typical show is more like 300-400. Might do twice that in some places. Most people who are not fans of the genres do not know his name. It is not the politics, though, just changes in the music world and the hiatus he took when he really bottomed out.

    My favourite artist by a country mile. I agree with a lot of his politics (Amerika v 6.0) but even if I didn't I'm educated enough to engage it. I'd still hold him in high regard. Personally, I think he gets the balance right. It's a democracy for all not just right wing country aficionados some of whom are also talented.

      because his politics are incompatible with contemporary country music culture -- he's very anti-nationalist, an unapologetic socialist and generally not afraid to be open about it
      and it doesn't help that he wrote John Walker's Blues in the aftermath of 9/11, how you responded to 9/11 either made or destroyed your career if you were a popular musician back then -- for Toby Keith, it made his, and for Steve Earle, it led to extreme controversy

    Man, What could have been an iconic career..... To his credit he didn't go down the politics path, but he, as always, was happy to go there once asked. Saw him in Omaha last year, he kept politics out of it, was a good set, but it was for 200 people instead of what could have been 10,000 if he'd keep it in check. At the end of the day he's ok with those results from what I can see.

      Jones cocaine addiction messed him up so bad he would literally think he was a duck for weeks at a time. He would talk like Donald duck for weeks at a time and just be out of his mind. On coke he also had another personality he would turn into. This one was an old man and so he would walk talk and act like a 90 year old man for long periods of time. Cocaine and booze ruined Jones but cocaine was what sent him over the edge.
