II made a pumpkin pie once and it wasn’t good because I was doing it wrong all along. I definitely have to do the pumpkin filling fresh like you did. Plus I didn’t know you can make whip cream with just vanilla and powdered sugar. You learn something every day. There’s so much amazing recipes you have and just love your personality and videos. You definitely make everything look easy.

I made this for thanksgiving it was a hit! Best hands down pumpkin pie
Looks like grandma taught me well. The only thing we ever did differently is we used a potato masher because we never had a food processor, and we would put slits in the pie crust to vent. I’m definitely not crying watching you cook this exactly like my grandma. I’m definitely not crying because this is our first thanksgiving without her. I needed this. Thank you Shereen

3 eggs, 2c pumpkin puree, 1c heavy cream (room temp), 3 1/4c granulated sugar, 1 1/2tsp cinnamon, 3 1/4tsp ginger, 3 1/4tsp ground all spice, 1/2tsp kosher salt, 1/4tsp ground cloves, 1/2tsp nutmeg

You forgot the mention that the crème has Heavy Cream in it - I was mixing powder sugar and vanilla extract for like 5 minutes before I gave up and looked up the recipe myself 😅

I made the purée and then made this recipe. Best pumpkin pie I’ve ever had. We tasted it side by side with a pumpkin pie from the local bakery. Mine was better. 😁
Also the first time I have made my own crust. I will never go with store-bought again!

Hi. Love your show. On this recipe you use vegetable shortening. I discovered all shortenings are made from soy beans. Is that what you use? Soy beans are genetically modified.

I think you forgot to mention the heavy whipping cream in your whipped cream ingredients. You just say to add vanilla extract to confectioners sugar.

Well I've tried chef John's easiest pumpkin pie recipe that uses condensed milk and Chinese five spice. I feel confident now I can try something a little more complicated.

My mom was an excellent cook. The day after Halloween pumpkin was oven baked into a puree, frozen and the used for TG. Back in the 60's we didn't have 'pie pumpkins' just the Jack-O-Lantern kind and they made a very good pie also.

Love it! I don't grow my pumpkins but I do raise my hens, My ladies were more than happy to oblige.
I make it every year but I cheat on the crust and the cream, because I was giving away about 30 pies - what I also did differently was I didn't puree the pumpkin, I found the coarseness gave it a rustic texture but you just made me want a pureed pie with homemade crust and whipped cream
