    Nice setup mate.
    Most if this I have seen before, but the Trackpad is something new.. I might steal that idea if i find a place in my car to place it.. :)
    Clean and nice. great job.

      Thanks! Its getting closer. It looks MUCH better now, but still only temporarily mounted. I'm waiting until its mounted before updating. The trackpad is great!!!

      ***** Awesome. Show us an update soon :).
      I made a build log of my first Samsung Tab 2 Install here:
      suzukiblog.net/?page_id=7
      But because of all the limits (no OTG etc), I'm working on a Nexus 2013 build, similar to yours, but in my Suzuki GV.
      Anyways, ill subscribe. keep it up :)

    Hopefully if I get an 05 legacy, I'm pretty much going to do this same idea, but with a windows tablet and run it to an aftermarket radio maybe, great setup though!!

      There are DEF better tablets out there! I only picked this one due to it being a tad older (cheaper), and the screen size fitting so well. Also, its been hacked and tweaked by just about everyone so there were plenty of options for making it do what I want. Ide LOVE a windows tablet in there. Or even a newer device with some more power. But it does what I need! Really hope to update soon. Ive had some failed ideas, and its set me back a bit. Im close to getting back on it. Maybe Ill try to do a quick video of what failed.

      I think what will confuse my the most is the wiring to everything. I want to do what Kyle did to his Legacy and be able to use push button on the dash for volume and power, but relabel the icons so you don't have to guess. Also, I was gonna try to just run it via 3.5mm to 2 female ends and do RCA's to my amps but I have no idea how well that will sound.

    Nice i will steal that idea too , how you fix the start button issue? I can figure more ways than cut an place in other side

    Place the Parrot display in your instrument binnacle between the two dials .. I did this with my IO display it fits just between the dials at the bottom, and does not obscure the dials or the manual gear display, and its discreet, so if people look in the car, it sits flush to the binnacle glass and is almost invisible

      Thanks for the feedback! Im WAY overdue on an update. I still havent finalized things, because Ive had other projects. But Im slowly getting back into it. I actually have a pretty slick way of mounting the parrot. 100% integrated. I ditched the parrot housing and hard mounted the display. Ill try to do an update video soon. I was trying to wait until I had a finished product. But, now I have more mods to do to the Nexus. So Im just figuring those out, and I should be good to go!

    Why don't you just put a double DIN in? Check out my video on how to replace the stock stereo. It's not that hard. This looks hacked apart af.

      I didnt want to do the double din. The radio/HVAC on these cars is all one unit more or less. I wanted to add the touch screen. This video is pretty early during the testing. Check out the later video of it finished. In this video, the only thing thats missing is the center cubby, nothing hacked. The finished project was pretty clean if you ask me.

    can you tell me more exactly how did you power up the hub?

    • @JEGsGarage
      @JEGsGarage  10 лет назад

      Sure Adrian. The hub I got had a power socket. I was using my only 12v outlet in the car for my power converter, so I just used a USB cable instead of a "power cord". I de-soldered the connector in the hub for the 12v barrel plug, and just soldered the power wires of the USB cable to the board. I used fairly heavy USB cable...I believe the power wires were 16-18 ga. Cant recall. Then, on the data cable for the hub, I ONLY ran the yellow and green data wires. Because if you run the full USB to that plug, the tablet will try to power it while in OTG mode. Its already being powered by my dedicated USB power cable, so I just snipped the power wires inside the cable. If this isnt clear, let me know! Send me a message with your email and Ill send you a diagram!

    why not just build your platform off any good development board??

    • @JEGsGarage
      @JEGsGarage  9 лет назад

      +James Condom Because I have no idea what you're talking about haha. I'm really still new to Android, and learning all the ins and outs of programming just isn't feasible right now. I'm not wired that way. I can build an engine, wire stuff up, tune a PCM...but when it comes to custom PC/Tablet stuff, I'm afraid I fall a little short.
