Great video. I just switched to an iPhone 15 Pro Max from Android. A lot of what you said is spot on. One correction though, there is an alphabetized app drawer. Swipe over to the app library and then swipe down or tap in the App Library search field. Either one will open an alphabetized view of all your apps. The rest of your "Like to have" list is spot on.

Or u can change ur brain to function like a iOS user and get used to Apples categorization of your favorite apps and learn which folder they’re in through muscle memory which I’d argue is quicker. U have to fully embrace iOS to enjoy iOS not try to make iOS Android. 😂

I liked the iPhone 15 PM when I tried it out, just like I liked the 14 PM etc before it. My sister got the 15 recently (due to her phone contract) - so we played around with it. I am coming from various Android phones (mostly Samsungs and Nokias), my sister has had Apple phones since, uh .. i think since the Iphone 6.
    What i liked:
The build quality is good, it feels solid - but it gets warm quickly (in one spot. I hold the phone in my left hand, and it gets warm just below the camera module on the back and on the side of the frame). The screen is nice - nothing amazing, but nice. The hardware/software is quick, the haptics are GREAT (the linear vibrator really is good, not better than the flagship Samsung ones ... they are about on the same page - but its more when it gives feedback). Most of the rest was generic flagship smartphone business .. nothing to write home about.
    What i disliked:
On Android, i plug it into a PC and move my music over to the music folder. On IOS .. well, thats not working. Even with iTunes, it does not work. I did not manage to give my sister custom notification sounds at all (we tried to figure it out for quite some time, along with google tutorials and all) - and it took us quite some time to upload custom ringtones. The music is put into what appears to be random folder structures on the phone, it did not recognize audio-books .. and autoplay seems to prefer the Apple music app over 3rd party apps that we preferred (foobar2000)
Android has a LOT more free applications from what i can tell, from ad-skipping apps to simple music apps. In general - advertisement was significantly more intrusive, unskippable and annoying on IOS. (annoying meaning, it swaps screens (to the app store) multiple times, adds additional timers etc.
    Our conclusion was:
She likes it very much. But she has always had an Iphone. I do not like it over similarly priced Android phones, because i value customization more ... also, i like a square design over the rounded corners. My sister is also not bothered about the ringtones and the music, because she streams her music anyway, while i upload my music onto the phones memory. I know (from this channel) that you can customize the Iphone, too .. but it is much harder than doing the same on Android.

    • @Alfadrottning86
      @Alfadrottning86 10 месяцев назад

@@Techfanatic73 idk, maybe it depends on what country you are in. But IOS sure displays ads like the following:
      - add a 30s (or sometimes a 59s) timer to a little video
      - once the timer runs out, it will pop up the app store - where you can either install or click "done"
      - when you clicked "done" it reverts back to the video, adding an additional 5s (sometimes 12s) timer
      - when this timer runs out, you can usually click the "X" and you are done with it
sometimes the "X" opens the app store once more, asking you to click "done" again.
Dont believe it? fine by me.
Android does it similar btw. shifting the "X" from corner to corner, adding timers .. hiding the "mute" symbol (or not displaying one at all)
But - i have not had any 1 minute ads on Android. (not that i remember) - on IOS, getting a 59s ad is rare, but happens (about 1 in 20 maybe?)
BUT - if your experience is different .. you should be happy.
edit: just in case your pride in your gadget is (somehow?) hurt. Blame the advertiser, not the smartphone brand or OS, i guess. What you should ask yourself is - "why in the world would i lie about that?"
In my opinion, iPhones are among the best looking and best designed phones. They are trend-setters for sure. They enjoy such a high status (as a symbol) that the majority of people want one or use one (by statistics). Just because i like Android better .. for the sole reason that it allows ME to modify and customize them better .. should not diminish your enjoyment of Apple products.
Keep in mind, it is not a religion .. it is just a consumer good that you pay for.

Here's more that iOS needs that no one wants to cover:
    - Allow separate browser engines so FF or Chrome can bring their own suite of extensions and features and not simply be a Safari skin
    - Allow separate apps to be set as the "default" to play media files. "Open with" is sorely missing in iOS
    - Media players don't automatically rotate the screen when in full screen mode.
    - Rotating the screen shouldn't need bringing down the control center. Android's rotate button appears when you change the orientation.
    - The 240hz PWM frequency that is really difficult for some people to use.

Therefore it's not even possible to switch even if I wanted to and no there are no similar apps on iOS because fundamentally those kinds of apps can not run iOS.

The problem with spending $1000 on an Android flagship is that Samsung will undercut the price you paid in a month with a firesale on the same handset you just spent $1000 on. Only a fool buys Android phones at full price because the manufacturer will erode their value themselves. Goes for both Google and Samsung.
Apple doesn't do this so the $1000 phone you bought from them is still worth something in a couple of years if you decide to trade it in (especially since it still has years of support ahead of it).

If I'm goin got be using my flashlight a lot of my phone i can program the action button to that to make it easier for me to use my flashlight. Not to mention no one said anything about the silent switch all these past years being on the same spot it is now. So what's the big deal? Just fyi, everything you said wasn't digital zoom....is digital zoom. Both apple's "different focal lengths" and the APS-C mode on full frame cameras are quite literally digital zoom. They are cropping into the sensor on both of them, and that is the definition of digital zoom. APS-C mode is the central area of the FF sensor and you can tell because the APS-C mode yields a lower resolution than the full frame mode. Same with the iphone 15 pro/max--28 and 35mm mode are both clearly lower quality than the 24mm mode. Seems the marketing buzzwords have indeed gotten to you :)

What you were saying at the end about people comparing $300 Android phones with $1000 iPhones is pretty ridiculous. Are you really saying that people are that dumb that they don't know that a $300 will not be the same as a $1000 phone? Personally, I have switched back and forth between Android and iOS for years, and I still prefer iOS. As a standalone software, Android is pretty decent, but it doesn't have the integration and quality of life features that iOS has, and depending on the brand you buy, you have multiple companies fighting for you to use their software (Google vs Samsung, for example). Here's an example of how iOS & Apples services make your life easier: iCloud Photos. It syncs not only from your phone to the cloud but also from the cloud to your phone, and any changes you make on your phone, tablet, laptop or even a Windows PC through the iCloud website syncs to all of your devices. It is a two-way sync. Google Photos, OneDrive or any number of other cloud services can backup the photos from your Android device, but if you clean up your library by deleting double-ups, screenshots etc then those photos wont be deleted from your cloud backup. Same if you make edits to your photos, not synced. So now you have two photo libraries that you need to manage. It's 2023, they can do better. Also, try to get Google Assistant to create a calendar event on a Hotmail or other email account other than Gmail. It won't and you can't even make the calendar event on Gmail and then easily transfer it to another account. iOS is way more user-friendly in this sense. You can link any account you want and set it to default and choose which services you want to sync (email, calendar, contacts etc) and then if you have more than one account (say a work and personal account) and say want to move a calendar event from one account to another, regardless of if they are with the same company, its as simple as 2 taps. Don't get me wrong, iOS isn't perfect and neither is Android. Both have some annoyances and limitations but for me, iOS is the better software.
To qualify my statements, these are the phones I have owned in the past few years: iPhone XS, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro, Galaxy S22 Ultra, iPhone 15 Pro Max.

For the first time as a long term Android user, I am seriously thinking about replacing my old trusty but old s9+ with an Iphone. Yes I already have a Mac Mini m1 and an Ipad, but I always refused to buy an Iphone.
But since almost half a year now, there seems to be a software issue between RUclips and all keyboard apps in which RUclips freezes them to the point my whole phone freezes.
And apparently thats not exclusively related to my s9+.
If google cant fix this issue, which I have reported twice already, I dont see a reason why my next phone should be Android anymore.

Iphone is good but few basic Problems..
      no Back Button
      no Fingerprint reader
      no clear app data
      no numbers row on Keyboard
      no easy screenshot like android
      no easy notification swipe down
      no Digital clock Widget
too big notch (Iphone Notch ruins Notification bar) 14 notch better than 15 island
no media volume control during call
3rd party Apps and inside app things...

    • @jonson856
      @jonson856 7 месяцев назад

      @@umeshkhadka7533 Regarding your points...
Not so much of a problem for me:
      1) No fingerprint reader: Iphones use Face unlock. Works quite well on my Ipad.
      2) No clear app data: I dont know exactly what you mean, but at least on my Mac I was told (from an IT person) Apple handles app data and residuals much better than Windows.
      4) No easy screenshot: I dont know what you mean. On Android its power + vol- buttons, on iOS and iPadOS its power + vol+ buttons. Its virtually the same.
      5) No notification swipe down: I dont know what you mean. Ok, I only know notifications from my s9+, which is kinda old, but on IPadOS its not that different. And since I have unsubbed from many social media, I dont have to deal with so many notifications anyway.
I just checked my sister's Iphone, I dont see a problem here, other than that there are a lot of notifications...
      6) No digital clock widget: They have one on the lockscreen, what more do you need? On the homescreen there is only an analog one yes, but if you cant read an analog clock the problem is with you TBH.
      7) IMO the notch of the older phones such as my sister's Iphone X, is big. The one on the Iphone 15/pro is fine.
      8) I just asked my sister regarding volume control during calls, she said of course you can change volume.
      ____________
More of a problem for me:
      9) No back button: What you mean is no universal back-button like all Android phones have. Yes thats a bit annoying, but not a deal breaker for me.
      10) No numbers row: yes thats also a bit annoying, but not a deal breaker for me, since I dont waste so much time on my phone anyway
      ____________
There is one thing that might be a deal breaker for me, and that is that you cannot use your own songs when setting alarms.
      But only might be.
I will have to look into that a little more and see how to solve that problem.
      ____________
All in all I would say, since I have Android and Apple products and can compare, that both systems (Android vs iOS/iPadOS) are quite similar now. Both systems have their strengths and weaknesses.

I have a syncthing server two-way syncing my important files to all of my devices, and more importantly, the entire photo album. Apple does not allow it, and it's killing me. You can do this, but only by removing photos from the regular album, importing them into another folder, and then doing a sync

I see you just compare 14's experiment vs 15's experiment. I switched to iPhone from Android and my experiment is bad. On Android, I just swipe and it is back to previous. On iPhone, I have to click on back button, which is not identical. Even with Assistive Touch, I have to click more for the same thing. Typing experiment is terrible, I have to click more for the same editing. Gmail notification on iPhone is worse, it doesn't show all the mail to read, to mark as unread or smth, it just show some line of that email. Other notification personalizing is terrible, on Android I can turn off notification for Like, Coupon...everything, but on iPhone I have to turn it all on or all off. App settings is complicated. When I want to change smth, I have to go to the setting, swipe swipes swipe to that app and click to change it. Many little annoying things I don't remember.

I have an Iphone from work but I use Android as my main phone. I use both regularly. I hate everything on IOS. I hate the UI, the icons, the way settings work, I hate the "file system" I hate the lack of back buttons, I hate the gestures. IMessage sucks, I guess they finally adopt RCS, but right now it is a pain to use if have to message people with Android phones.
The only positive I can say is that it integrates well with Mac OS. However it is a nightmare to use with Windows.

Hmmm when the design section comes down to how less fingerprints the 15 gets compared to the 14, you realize they aren't making that much to justify the change in first place; and no the 'action button' is not the end of the world. Back tap is way more useful and easy to reach but almost no one talks about it.

Love your reviews, and this was another good one. Just a nitpick for something you mentioned at 9:12.
Apple were not the first OEM to use sensor-cropping to achieve zoom. Samsung did this with the S20 series, and because most reviewers gloss over the non-Ultra variants, it was quickly forgotten about despite the implementation actually being good.

I’m an Apple user for around 6 years now. Was always an android user. One thing that blows my mind is how far ahead google assistant is compared to Siri. Siri should retire. Google assistant was 100 times better on my google pixel 3 XL 6 years ago than Siri is today.
APPLE needs to do better with Siri because she’s pretty much only good for setting alarms and turning off navigation when I’m driving.

As a long time Android user I have to say they both are good in their own way and if you like your phone and it does what you want who cares which phone you have but i have noticed that iphone users care way too much about you not having an iphone. Same can't be said for android phone users to iphone users. The main reasons i occasionally get bothered about it is because of the camera or not being able to facetime people id never facetime or about text bubbles. I personally feel android has better everything but camera and the only reason people want you to have an iphone is for their mental piece of mind and because its a flex to spend so much on a phone. I tried getting an iphone again but like i said other than the camera there isn't a lot of use i can get out of it with the features i miss from my android

A crop is always a digital zoom, no matter how you twist and turn it. If you crop, you take away the full megapixel count and reduce it by the crop factor, thus less megapixel, less resolution. If you just "digitially" zoom, you do the very same thing: "crop out a part of the picture with higher megapixel count".

And the Google Pixel 8 is about half the price currently and a phone you prefer the images on. These are all flagships phones, but it seems to me you have expect the iPhone to be amazing everywhere to be ok with the price difference.
