I bought a 36 gal.Better Bilt tank and RDS gravity feed kit from Northern Tool and after welding a 1/2 inch nipple in the drivers side end and putting on a ball shutoff valve I ran the line through the bed . Then I mounted a magnetic shutoff valve, a Mr. Gasket fuel pump and a Jegs spin on fuel/water filter and ran a line to the RDS filler neck fitting. A rocker switch on the dash controls the magnetic valve and the fuel pump. The stock tank holds 34 gal. so I start transferring fuel when i get down to a half tank, that takes the aux tank down to about 18 gals.In theory there is about 60 gals of usable fuel. If I'm not in the mountains my mileage runs anywhere between 8 and 10 towing, so I could run anywhere from 480 to 600 miles although we try to stay less than 400 miles/day (hey, I'm retired) The beauty part of this setup is I can pick the places I want to fuel up, not let the stock tank dictate the place and time.
I like the mount looks tight and clean But diesel and fuel oil will eat the Teflon. I Recommend rector seal yellow soft set dope And tighten all fittings - Teflon is for water, never on oil - Will show suction leaks in time Ok Good set up Thanks. Eric
My Banks Economind on my 03 HO has got me from 21 mpg up to an average 26.5 unloaded running 75 mph. Running on tune 4 out of 6 being max. A good lift pump is important rather it is tuned or not. Stock lift pump at least on the early common rails resulted in poor performance and low mileage as I am sure you are well aware of. And yes the Economind really wakes up performance and is (clean tuning) which means it is 50 state approved.
That is awesome I have been looking into getting a transfer tank for my truck with only 25 gallon tank 🤮 but didn’t want to spend all the money but seeing this and how much you spent I’m definitely looking into doing the same!
I have a 07 ram with the 6.7 Cummins and a automatic transmission. Its deleted with a efi live tow tune. Then I put stealth performance module on top of that. Mostly plowing snow and making short trips in the winter and I’m getting 15 mpg. During the summer I get 17 mpg to 24 mpg depending on what and how I’m driving. Stealth performance made a huge impact on my truck mpg.
Get you a hose reel. I think China Tools I mean Northern Tool has them on sale right now. Cool vid, now my OCD is kicking in and I think I will have to move my pump to the side looks good!
Good video, bought a weather guard box and tank a while back and put the Fillright pump and filter on passenger side and the fill on the drivers side thinking it would be easier to fill both at once on the same side. But I hated how It blocked my view with a big ass pump and filter on top. So after a few fill ups and using red (at a different pump) in the transfer tank, I decided to swap them and it’s working great. It seems I always do things at least twice. I guess anything worth doing is worth re-doing...LOL. Keep up the great work, look forward to each and every update!
Looks like you need to get an auxiliary fuse block for that truck u got a pretty good nest on that battery. I put 2 with a relay on 1 for switched ignition and 1 for full time power sure cleans up the engine bay and pretty inexpensive on Amazon
Tractor supply has correct fill cap. I use on a 15gpm and 20gpm pumos and work great. $35 in stock You can buy a pass thru fittinf that you can screw pipe into both sides to build a suction tube. No welding and no leaks should also have a check valve on the pickup tube to keep pump primed
I run efi live with trans tuning from anarchy and it's awesome gets rid of torque management so may be a little much for what you want but comes with a stock power tune
Clean install. I have one of the above tank pumps and dont like the look so i mounted it to some cam lock fittings for when im not using it, but my tank is also gravity feed into the truck for when intake longer trips so i dont run red die fuel its hard to find here anyway. And for tuning im running breakout tuning from hardway performance and have the csp4 switch but you can get it with a single tune and i have been really happy with it i always run it on the lower 2 tunes and clean very little smoke on second tune if you get on it,but thats with a bad vgt in it right now.
still using this setup? ive had two of these exact pumps off amazon, 60$ canadian for just the pump 155$ canadian for the kit like you got, both of them have burnt up after moving no more than 200 liters each.. i have a full size fuel filter on the outlet which adds some load but the most ive tried to move at once was 70 liters (20gallons) and on both pumps they burnt out at less than 5 minutes of run time on that day.. one of them the brushes stuck and burnt out the motor the other all the wires melted and upon opening it up to put in new wires the threads just fell apart that hold the motor to the pump head.. must be mixxed metals between the bolts and pump head as the threads just fell out when removing the bolt.. theyre junk in my opinion but the fill rite option is pretty pricey 300$ for a similar looking pump and over 500$ for an all metal traditional style transfer pump, and thats with no fittings no hoses no nozzles

You did a good job 👍 this tank looks clean... for a easy pothole delete you can use a cheap xrt like I have. No need to remove the egr crap.... only the dpf... Can you not use your minimaxx for this ? Because you have the efi on your 08 when I’m right ?
I am going through the same thing now. I had one with a fill-rite on top of my F350 but took that ugly ass pump off and just gravity feed my truck through the filler neck. I know you use yours to fuel up machines, I use mine for hauling/trips so you need the pump. Can you do a review on the tanks/brands/setup you consider when you select one? Steel vs alum? I want as big of a capacity as I can get without it poking above the bed rail and keeping space in the bed personally.

I never thought about putting a transfer pump on that way. We always just put them on the tank itself lol I like it though! It defiantly looks nicer.

If you are just using that tank to fill your truck tank, why not just run a fuel line to the fill line and have a switch in the cab with a fuel gauge?
HOMEGUY4X4 the transfer tanks is not for fueling the truck. It’s for fueling equipment. Always has off-road fuel in it
