The actor/artist combo is usually a potent one-two punch, and it's definitely nudged Kris Wu to an enviable status. The South China native grew up in British Columbia and has applied a philosophy of hard work to the natural gifts of craft and charisma for a result that has brought his name around the world. In 2012 he became a member of South Korean K-Pop outfit, EXO. That led to film opportunities, and after roles in a few small titles he made his debut in his first American movie, 2017's 'XXX: Return of Xander Cage.' Delving into hip-hop came next, and he started strong: Travis Scott helped with last year's trap-pop track, "Deserve." Each of his subsequent records got sharper and sharper. His 'Antares' album just hit in November, and it proves Wu is headed in the right direction. We invited him in for a chat about how hoops led him to beats. See what he has to say about mom's advice, NBA and M1 games, the inspiration of Allen Iverson and feeling the pressure of cultural stereotypes in 'Three Thoughts on Hip-Hop and Basketball.'
