I would agree with you the Salty Hundo is an amazing casting reel… even controls the Louisiana variety of redfish! Bates is a great brand and has a lot of innovation coming for 2025. Enjoyed the video, nice job!
@@flatsclasscharters always appreciate a comment from my favorite salty RUclipsr! One day I have to get down there with you. Need to drag you out on a kayak!! Don’t worry I will give you a motor to use! You are my wife’s favorite person to watch. Haha.
How do they handle long distance casting? You seem To be casting with a lot of brake on and long distance requires less brake. I’m curious how it compares to the long distance casting of something like a Shimano Metanium or Chronarch.
Long distance is good on the reels. But when you are casting lighter baits they will only go so far. When I am casting rattle traps or anything heavier your lures go really far. You can also back off of the brakes for sure and just thumb the spool more. But when fishing from a kayak distance is not a concern.
Not at the moment but I have GOAT 150 which it’s the same thing but ceramic bearings not stainless. Better for salt environment. Just like the salty Hundo. Same thing but ceramic bearings. If they had the salt Hundo and salty 150 before I bought mine I would have had those from beginning. Just use in both fresh and saltwater. I would always go salty versions moving forward. When these break I will start replacing my Goats and Hundos with salty versions.
@@rjmfishtales Thanks for the feedback. I've heard that in the Salty line the 100 size cast better than the 150?? The 150 is less expensive but I'd take better casting with the 100s if that's true?
I like the 100 size much better. I love the Hundo over the GOAT by a lot. So much more comfortable in the hand and I use for large mouth bass to redfish and has plenty of power to bring in the fish. I would pick 100 over 150 any day. Yes it cast better as well.

Thank you. Yes Bates is bad ass.

I am waiting for the spinning reel as well. I know it’s coming….as long as they don’t change their mind.
Thanks again Ryan! You rock buddy!
Thanks Dave. I appreciate your support buddy.

Any experience with Salty 150?
