    I really like all the advancements in new dynamic braking systems and lighter spools in new reels. It forces the industry to push for new innovations as well. The 100 size is great for light fluoro line and braid.

      Absolutely right! I can't wait to see how some of the smaller companies like Bates and Ark push Daiwa and Shimano for some new braking tech. But one thing for sure... Bate and Ark, in my opinion, surpassed all other reels that are not Shimano and Daiwa! Lews needs to step up and so do abu... KK is on the rise too!

    Thank you for reviewing the Hundo. I am so looking to getting this reel, just because it is unique. I wonder if Bates will come out with a shllow BFS spool for the Hundo. That would make the Hundo versatile, since it has a spool clicker. Now that's a nice touch and just up'd the ante on the Shimano Metanium MGL, which I have.

    Hi, what pound braid would be good for this reel? 20 or 30lb braid? It will be mounted on either a medium or medium heavy rod.
    Thank you for pointing out it has a drag clicker nice bonus!

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  7 месяцев назад +2

      I am using 20 lbs right now. Full spool of 150 meters 1.2 gou X4 line from Major Craft. It casts well and I would say 30 lbs braid should work
      Do know that this reel is smaller than most size 100 bait casting reels. It's closer to a size 80 based on spool capacity rating. Casts light lures pretty well

    • @joepicasso69
      @joepicasso69 7 месяцев назад +2

      @rawrfishing , the Hundo arrived today, looking forward to check it out after work. I normally use 30lb braid on my baitcasters, so that's good to know.
      What do you think about the Hundo used to BFS, like 1/8oz lures and up of I used 10-15lb braid?

    It looks like the "front plate" where you rest your index finger is also part of the frame. Usually it's a plastic front plate on most reels. Shimano calls it "Coresolid Body" which they have in their Bantam and higher end reels.

    I think thats a doyo variant. Not sure which model of the doyo baitcasters but the breaks are the same. I picked up a doyo rainbow IV recently and its been great so far. The thing I kinda wish is they keep the hook keeper that comes with the baitcaster on the back side. Very useful in my opinion.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  8 месяцев назад

      Hehe.. Nice guess but.. This is American designed with zero Doyo! I have spoken with Bates and they agree that there's an interesting perspective about the company. Perhaps they will be able to push out some nice content that will tell everyone a bit more about their company and reel designs.
      But on the other hand.. Lews... They need to utilize some more recent and cooler Doyo reels. I heard a lot of good things on stuff that we Americans don't get to see!

      @torment6369 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@rawrfishing That's interesting to see no doyo in it. Maybe its the matrix breaking system then that's becoming more prevalent in reels from what I've seen. • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  7 месяцев назад

      Not yet, gotten sick over late fall into winter and the lakes were frozen until like today when it got a warm rain spell, but it will come eventually. I just dropped a video on the Tatula 100 and I think I will create a similar format for this reel, but closer to The Ark Gravity BFS reel since this reel here is a bit more complicated with extra brake settings. I can tell you that the reel is smaller than the Tatula 100, more of a size 80 spool, so the body is smaller. but not small as some BFS reels. I would say it's close to the Aldebaran 2016 size.
      casting wise, the brakes are weaker than Daiwa reels, which means it's more for advanced anglers.

      Certainly hard to pay for an expensive reel like this over the high end Daiwa reels, but you know what? I think this is a perfect opportunity for me to put this reel to the test. I do have the Zillion SV TW G, so it's gonna be cool to beat up this reel for 2024 and see why it is priced this high.
