Very Nice !
I like the idea of, but throw a bleeding hog on the tailgate and try not to get under that setup. Otherwise be smelling the hunt long after cause getting under to clean is a pita. Had one and sold for this issue. Gen 3 needs wash port access for hunters w body counts and fisherman who throw leaky coolers full of scales. Maybe I'm just uncivilized in my approach, but no time to explain, put that chit in the truck and lets goooooo!
I understand. That is why I use a trailer for bodies and dirt 😳
@@rjmfishtales @Decked www.youtube.com/@Decked Cant take a trailer in the woods I hunt without losing access. I use a front hitch with a HF basket and that solved lots. The decked was great for what it was, but it added height under the cap that limited the sit-up height to less than 30in while camping. Add the air mattress and was getting tight. The end all was the drawers needing the rollers removed to take out and clean under. Cleaned a few on the tailgate and the remnants lingered for months. And that's the buck shack brother! No doe gonna follow you back into that lol. Need a way to smooth the honeycomb underside and add water jet ports to clear as needed without disassembly. I have shared this with the engineers at decked, but these improvements are really only needed for a small portion of owners I am sure. And the voids need access to use the space under. We lose A LOT of usable space to these systems and when overlanding every inch counts. Again, great for work truck and pavement pullers, I just needed something less to be more for me.
What size black pack is that?
13x16
I’m ordering some next week it’s to store tools , and clear out my back seats
They work great and just installed a new set of drawers in my longer bed truck.
me as an electrician, I see potential condensation in the motor, thats could occur in colder water. Lifepo has only problems charging at freezing, the bms should shut the battery down then
Yea. It’s an ok motor but moved on to Torqeedo. I need to be able to cover more water in tournaments.
You rock Ryan! Very nice and a great job with the SLAM! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Dave. I appreciate the support. Yes fishing was fun that day.
I Think that would be illegal here in N QUEENSLAND aUSTRALIA
It’s ok here as long as you it a high vis flag at the end of it. In America we can do anything. That is why there is problems and accidents. Haha
That was a great day brother and thank you for the donation
Yes it was and no problem.
Heck yeah buddy. Great day of fishing. Wish i could have made it. I was good for Saturday, but couldn’t make Sunday
Next time. Thanks for watching and comment.
Behind you in traffic right now lol. I will keep an eye out for your stuff!
Thank you.
Beautiful day, some nice fish and a great cause. Doesn't get any better.
Yes sir. Thank you.
They should make an extension insert to give the molle panel expansion capabilities like they did on the Load Warrior and Overhaul Side Bars. Great video, thanks.
Yea maybe at the ends they could have did something but no big deal. They are still nice looking and work well.
Hey, the bungee that came with the gear… I can bungee it when the wheels are up. But when they are down and going up and down ramp- do they need to be bungeed? It does not reach across when they are down but should I be bungee-ing them when wheels are down?
No they don’t need or should be bungeed when down. Just FYI I have never bungeed them when in the stored position since I have been using them for over 8 years. I have never had them come off the kayak even through the roughest offshore water. I throw the bungees in the garbage.
Good job Ryan! Enjoyed checking this out buddy!
Thanks Dave. Yes I believe that these motors are the best for kayaks. They can take lots of abuse and keep on rolling.
Great review! Just bought a new Travel Ultralight. The product seems really well designed. I had a small problem with the motor and both the dealer and Torqueedo USA were simply clueless about the product. I’d hate to have a real problem and have to deal with Torqueedo USA. Hopefully with Yamaha being the new owner things change.
No problem. What issue did you have with the motor?
@@rjmfishtales There are 3 “installation variants” you can use to install the motor. The “shallow water variant” is the variant that I think 100% of kayak users would use. However this installation variant requires a 3rd Clamping Ring (accessory item 7014-00) that doesn’t come with this $3K motor (stupid). I contacted the dealer to ask about this issue and they didn’t know anything about the different installation variants and said just install it without the 3rd Clamping Ring. I contacted Torqueedo USA and of course no one picks up the phone. I leave a message and they call back a couple days later. They also have no idea about the different installation variants, don’t have the Owners Manual that comes with the motor and don’t have any knowledge of the part number. Then they tell me the clamp ring on the 1103 is interchangeable with the Travel Ultralight and have me order this part from them. $8 for the part and $20 for shipping (ridiculous). I get the part and it’s clear that the 1103 and the Travel Ultralight shaft diameters are completely different and the clamp ring isn’t close to fitting. I call back and leave message to return the part. I’ve never heard back from them. The Torqueedo USA website still has the 1103 on it and the Travel Ultralight not to be found.
Thank you, great review!
No problem.
regarding the UL and in case of storing the battery in the front hatch of hobie PA14, do they have longer battery main cords to reach the rear end of the kayak?
No they do not. It’s a standard length from the motor. All of us just leave the battery behind seats or inside of a box etc. Some people mount battery to side of a box.
Just a note. It is a near 11' kayak. 10'10"
Yes I do cover that in the video.
Happy Thanksgiving. Sorry me and my wife missed you in Murrells Inlet last weekend. Good video and a nice fish there.
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you.
Happy thanksgiving, that spot looks very familiar with that giant bird house.
Happy Thanksgiving as well
Very nice Ryan! Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as well Dave.
I have the 1HP torqeedo. did DIY and installed it instead of mirage drive on my pro angler 14 .. is the case size of this motor the same as the 1hp motor? basically is it possible to do the same DIY with this motor as I don't like to mount the motor at the back of the kayak?
The physical case of motor housing is bigger by quite a bit over the 1HP version. It’s around 40 pounds as well. Pretty cool you did DYI mount though. I like my motor in back because I run into stumps and oyster bars a lot. Haha. I wouldn’t have a motor left if I had in the front.
@rjmfishtales appreciate your answer.. I do salt water fishing.. nothing to worry about in my case.. reason why I asked this question is I am a bit of a big guy 110kg and I prefer to keep always the weight centralised on the kayak 😅 appertaining with the power this motor is offering plus my weight, the kayak will always look as if its on 2 wheels the full time🤦♂️
@mytide6474 no problem. It’s ok doing wheelies. Lol. 😂
Happy Thanksgiving brother great bass
Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family
I just bought an f150 that has the deck system in it. According to this video. I have the gen one system. It does not have tie downs or two stadh boxes in the corners. It does look like that i can add locks for the drawers. It does have a camper shell on the truck. So, thats a plus. Also, i will be putting my camling equipment in the system.
That’s good. Makes it easy so you don’t have to climb in back all the time for your smaller gear. If your tailgate locks and camper shell you won’t need to add locks to your drawers. The Gen2 drawers only have been out for a little over a year. Happy Thanksgiving
@rjmfishtales yes, both lock. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Happy thanksgiving!
@@jasonfreeman8218 you as well. Thank you.
Absolutely awesome!
Thank you Dave.
I use a TruckVault in my Yukon XL with a BedSlide on top. They work amazing for the last 12 years. Nobody seems to make drawers for SUVs anymore... The TruckVault is HEAVY where this looks much lighter. Good review.
Truck vault is nice too though. Look at Yakima as well. They make drawers and storage solution for suvs. Thank you for the comment. Hope it helped.
I'd rather invest $1200 some other way...like a second kayak!
It’s not for everyone
I don’t think it’s worth for your hard earn money. I have the J2 motor kit with an extra battery that I paid for $1800 in November 2022. After my first use right after receiving, the motor went bad and I had to send it in for repair with my cost of postage. Be aware that even it’s still in the warranty period, you still need to pay for the postage to send it in for repair. A year later, one of the batteries went bad and I have to pay for the repair. I would not recommend Bixpy motor kit.
Yea they have their issues. But everyone does. I am running the Torqeedo now for 1.5 years after stop using the Hobie as my main kayak. Been a solid motor.
My co-worker bought them, he regrets it. His got broke into and lost all his tools, and the size of it ruined the versatility of his truck bed.
Well that sucks they got broken into. Nothing is fully save from thieves as any of can break into anything. Hopefully insurance would cover some of it.
Just picked mine up! Can't wait!🤙😁
Good deal. Hopefully you got on sale and used my code as well to save more!
Don't care about the drawers, don't have a pickup. That said, love your shop man, wish I had oen like it
Ok. You can rent the shop if you like. And how could you not have a pickup? Haha. It’s the only way to live.
@@rjmfishtales LOL, so true...
Nice review! I really think they are great! Thank you and take care Ryan!
Thank you sir. Catch you soon. Have a good Thanksgiving.
Great and honest review. I can't justify buying it after watching it. Yes, everything is expensive, but still, this is too much and with this quality, aint worth it.
No problem. Everyone has different budgets and outlook on everything. I am on almost 2 years with 2 of them now and still working good. They faded from the sun but still keeping my gear protected and not broken.
Thanks for the review!
No problem. Hoped it helped.
Awesome bass brother glad to see you finally get a big one on video. Happy anniversary
Thank you sir.
Where do I get these foot controls???
They are a prototype Hanz is working on. Super smooth. Not sure if they are out yet. Going to be pricey but can steer with your pinky toe.
What is the payload on that truck?
1698. Not enough that is why I will be going 3/4 ton next.
@@rjmfishtales Smart man! I applaud you for paying attention to the payload number!! If you can find a Nissan Titan XD, I recommend it. 10 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. The only true heavy half pickup. They do not have the payload/towing specs of a 3/4 ton. However, Every video I've seen on the XD, they hold their own with the 3/4 tons. If you want a new one though, move fast. Nissan discontinued them this past summer.
@fishingismydrug1 I already had one with the Cummins. Did not like it. The hardest transmission ever dealt with. Maybe the gas was better but I want a full 3/4. The one I built has a payload of 3800. About where I want to be around.
@@rjmfishtales They did away with the Cummins several years ago. Yes, that engine was junk. Nissan (or Cummins, not sure which), didn’t help themselves at all with that issue. 3800#’s is quite the step up from what you have !! I’ve always felt a 3/4 ton is a great, all around vehicle, for doing what you’re talking about.
@fishingismydrug1 the engine was good just trans shifted really hard. All HD trucks today have a smoother trans. I prefer manual but unfortunately those days are gone.
👍👍👍
Those were good trout brother
Thank you. Ok for the area. I need BIGGER haha.
That's awesome how it has tie down for the kayaks 🛶 cuz that's very important . I hope you enjoyed your weekend man .
Weekend was good. Thank you. Hope yours was good as well.
I've been using the sharky III right now for almost a year and accidentally submerged it in salt water multiple times and got it serviced only a couple of times, still it did not fail me and it is still as smooth like brandnew.
Good to hear. Glad to hear it’s still working
Good looking day and you got a couple of trout. Always great to get out. How far is it from the launch to the bar in the harbor?
Thanks. It’s about 20 min to the island from launch. Somewhere around there. Never paid attention. I get out so early. Haha.
I have two sharky II baitrunners and have had no problems with either of them. Have caught everything from yellow perch to striped bass and bluefish with the 3000 sized reel and really enjoyed the experience. The 6000 size I have is specifically for salt water Striped Bass and Bluefish. I also have several of the bait casters (Valiant, MegaJaws, Spartacus, legend.....) and have had no problems with any of them. Great reels for the price.
Yes they are for the price. They work and warranty is no problem. Has one issue and was replaced. Will have an update here in a month or so. Thanks for the comment
Hey buddy no need to be sorry man man . As long as you're making video it's all good man . I am glad that you are still having warm weather to keep on fishing 🎣 . It's 46° Degrees Temperatures right now & it's been getting down to 32°/36° Degrees at night time here . This is what I hate about winter time because you have to stop kayaking 🛶 , kayak camping 🏕 , kayak fishing 🎣 doing the winter time because of the air temperature or because of the water being frozen . I rather deal with 100° Degrees Temperatures like it was this summer than to deal with cold temperatures because cold weather now hurts my feet 🦶 for some reason after my Truck 🚛 accident back in 2000 . & it suck that I can't wear shoes when it's cold outside . Hopefully this will change after my foot surgery . I would have tooking my shoes off around the sand too cuz when sand gets into shoes it's very very extremely hard to get it out of your shoes . I hope I can catch a live stream with you man . Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video buddy .
Thank you. Get better with your feet and catch you soon. I fish all year around. Nothing stops me here in Charleston.
That's a good tip man there .
Thank you
All good Ryan! Glad you got a good trout! Always enjoy being on the water with you!
Thank you sir. I thinks it’s time for fresh rest of year. We will see.
I struggle with spending $1500 or more on having deck storage. Currently use my back seat for free. It would be nice, just not $1500 nice.
Yes the drawers are a luxury and keep you more organized but you have to spend money to get it. Still a lot cheaper than what I spend on kayak stuff.
What motor mount is that? For the xi3
The motorguide is in the front and Newport Vessel is in the back.
Good technique. Really good.
Thank you.
