I have both of these planes and I totally agree with your comparison. The Ultimate being lighter is great to throw around especially on 4S while the Extra 300 being heavier just handles so well..... I usually dead stick my 300 in from about 200m out. Its is my fav plane out of my fleet..... love it .... great review so so accurate...
Just did the maiden on my Ultimate on Sunday and boy oh boy, I love my Visionaire but I think this one takes the cake. Biplanes rule. Now if only Horizon would make The Beast in a meter+ wingspan foamy, yabbadabbadoo!

I'm not a serious 3D flyer. I enjoy banging the sticks with sport aerobatics, not sure I'll do any hovering. I'd really like to swap between the 3S and 4S, but don't want to mess with the stabilizer bar. Any thoughts??? I ask because I have a mess of 3S 2200's and just a handful of 4S..
Ive had the Eflite 300 for about 6 months and I’ve never had a plane that will snap like this one.. put the rates on 60% for aerobatic/pattern and 100% for the crazy stuff.. and I also have a 1.60 size great planes ultimate bi gasser.. Might have to pick up the eflite ultimate. I have the eflite 850 pitts but it just doesn’t do enough..
Great video I had the 300 extra and due to a loss a contact to the radio it's spun in uncontrolled and was destroyed left a bad taste in my mouth but why was it radical I did like it. I have the ultimate 2 and love that plane and I'm considering going to the ultimate 3D. Thanks for the update
Love this video. Awesome intro and I like making a guy think aspect of it. I've got both planes and as you do wes I love them both. The best part of my two is that I've got less money into them than 1 of them costs. Thanks to Craigslist score on the ultimate and a swap meet score on the 300. Both were incredible deals and both fly incredible 👍👍😎
I am sitting here with the new (delivered 1 hour ago) Extra 30o in my hand, and at the same time I am interested in watching this film, because the Extra300 but also the Ultimate is indicated. In the first ten minutes I started to have doubts and almost wanted to send the Extra300 back because the Ultimate does this better and the Ultimate does that to much better was the commentary in the video. But when you started flying the Extra300 I knew right away that I made the right choice :) I have about 6 Extras and it is clearly my favorite aircraft, all Extras are great planes to fly. Still, I would like to see that you can also reverse the engine while flying with the Ultimate? Thanks for making this video, really nice video man.
Unfortunately the Extra doesn’t support the esc reverse. It is also an awesome plane and I love both to be honest you could do what I did and just get both

I have both. The ultimate had some wicked knife edge coupling. Pull to landing gear that needs a lot of mixing. Am I missing something? Any suggestions. I really like both.
I was wondering about this... I am looking at sometime picking up another plane, I have a Multiplex Gemini, and a Parkzone Extra 300... haven't flown the Extra a lot in the last few years, as my current spot is a gravel road for landing and it likes to come in with speed... the Gemini is a blast to fly, and can slow way down before landing... but it needed a lot of aileron differential and mixing to get it to roll on axis and to knife edge half decent... it just isn't as easy to do precision aerobatics with, but is still a lot of fun to fly. Looking to get a new plane to start practicing some routines with. Eventually to fly a routine to music... thinking an Extra/Edge/Sukhoi would be better than a bipe possibly...
Nice comparison vid on both models personally I would say a 3d hobby shop or extreme flight airframe is where 3d really at but these are great for first time 3d guys thanks for the video.
I have the Extra 300 from when it was still carrying the FMS brand. Is there any BIG differences? I expect the e-flite branded electronics. I had 83 flights on it and it was tons "O" fun to fly. It is in for repairs after damage to the nose ,the brush at the end of field reached up and grabbed it .
Looks like the extra has some coupling going on, if you mix some elevator in with the rudder until it tracks straight on its own in knife edge all of your rudder based manoeuvres should get a lot nicer and tighter. Had to do the same with my Edge. I wouldnt be too worried about struggling to harrier with the extra, the airframe design is notorious for having terrible wing rock in high alpha, this is why if you rarely see extras in the hands of top 3d pilots, they will often fly Lasers, Slicks and Edges instead as they do not suffer this issue.
I feel like most of the issues with maneuvers had more to do with pilot skill than what the plane can do, which is a good thing. It’s nice to have planes that are far more capable than your own skills.

I am having problems with the receiver it has poor range any suggestion on something better. I get 2 holds sometime and about 5 to 6 hundred frame losses
I bought the extra 300 2 months ago. I still have not flown it. I have been flying for 4 years. I don’t do 3D flying but I do aerobatics. I have several micros. “ xk 430” etc And 4 park flyers like Carbon cub s+, I m trying to find a place to fly with a little more room to land I guess. I don’t want to crash such a great looking plane. Lol. I want to fly it so badly. And with the AX3s tech. It’s makes it soo friendly. So. I think it’s time I take it out. Regardless. I have been looking at the ultimate for lil while and want a bi plane bad!! Looking at the Pitts too. Love the Bi planes. But before I get another. I need to tackle this one. Lol
I know I'm a little late but I have the Timber X and am using the Spektrum 4s 2200s. What flight time would i get with the extra 300 on those with 30% left and would the cg still be good?
That would be my first choice also... after building the great planes ultimate and flying it for years I have to have another one. Some day 🤙 Maybe soon!
No doubt the Canadian ultimate is great not sure if its 3D reliable and accurate I flew mine a lot but not sure quick snaps up and down lost aeralons are touchy don’t forget to pin them in never had an extra decided on an edge 540 instead

The Ultimate looks like it has better landing characteristics in this video. If the Ultimate is similar to flying the discontinued Hangar 9 Tango, the Ultimate may be a better choice between the two.

Have both these planes and DONT get either of these for real 3D, these are sport flyers . Too much wing loading. Can you do some 3Dish moves ..maybe but they are not floaty or have the power to weight ratio for 3D. Get a foamy especially a 32" and then you realize what actually 3D plane is. I found out the wrong way !
I’ve had that big a long time there is actually surface content on the channel but our man focus will always be planes. But two weeks ago we did a three day special on surface
Not a foam fan, but I would buy both these , but I don't want the as3x tech in them. And I don't want to pay extra for it just to tear it out. Want to learn to fly. Fly one rate FULL rate and 40-45 expo across the board.
The extra 300 is a crap 3D airplane and should not be marketed as one. Bought one thinking i could learn with it but unfortunately it's a brick. If you want to do 3D buy a profile.

you can defiantly fly it on both just go with the lighter tale bar if you are not flying 3d

I have a extra 300 new charger and 2 2200 batteries that are brand new as well but not sure if I can fly it how much should I sell it for ?

Cg would be good but you’re going to have a short flight time. She is hungry and on the 3200 I get around 3:30 to 4 minutes

If you want to fly on 2200 got to be the ultimate. The extra really needs to be on a 3000 or bigger

Me to it’s definitely a fantastic flyer and the wing is nice and short so fits in the car without taking it apart on a biplane that’s a big + for me
