Welcome to the Beauty in the Broken channel; my name is Heather Gaffney. In today’s video, I show the difference between glitter, mica powder, pigment paste & alcohol ink in 4 resin coffee cups.
The purpose of this channel is to show beauty where there is sometimes chaos.
Chaos is often seen in both resin and acrylic paint pours. You have to work through the mess and follow various twists and turns to see the beauty that results.
Likewise, things in life aren’t always beautiful in the beginning, but if you look hard enough and often enough, you can find some beauty; you can even find beauty in the broken.
Don’t stop searching for beauty - it’s there if you look for it!

When adding mica powder you can mix the powder with alcohol and make a liquid, the alcohol as you know will evaporate 😊❤😊
A little tip from me to you. 😊😊😊
Thank you!
Ooooo I love the orange I’m an orange color lover as well. Super fun. New subscriber hun. 😊 Tfs love 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Love it! There must be a little sunshine-y orange. Thanks for subscribing!!!
New subscriber here… not sure how I found the video, but I’m really glad I did!
The glitter on the bookmark made that feather look really cool… and I love those earrings, even with its ‘little drop of alcohol’!
Now I’m off to watch your intro video!
Much love from Nat. (Brisbane, Australia) ♥️♥️🇦🇺
Hi Nat! I'm glad you found it too - thanks for watching and subscribing! Sometimes those 'mistakes' are really beautiful, right? And if you've watched a few more, you'll notice that I do love glitter :)
Brea Reese makes Mix2Mold ceramic resin. Its great stuff and available through Michael 's.
Thanks! I'll have to look into it.
I thought that you said the mica looked like a cheetah lol
Ha! That's funny!
If you add elmers clear glue it will keep the glitter suspended throughout your mold, just a tip ive seen, and yes it works amazingly
Thanks, Sonia. I did mention it in one of my glittery Christmas ornament videos. I actually don't have any regular glue on hand at the moment. I'm getting ready to do some with a variety of glitters just to see the real effects. Then maybe I'll go get some glue. lol Thanks for watching!
A tip you've seen from Daniel Cooper😊😊😊😊😊
Actually I saw it on Glitz and Glitter
I did see it on Daniel Cooper's video and I mentioned it - gave him credit - in one of my chuinky glitter ornament videos. I just don't have any Elmer's glue so I haven't personally tried it.
@@soniayoung9361 Yes, a lot of resin artists are using it now, and I haven’t watched anyone use it and not credit Daniel with it, which is awesome! And I agree with you… it does work really well… it was certainly a game changer for me… one of Daniel’s many game changing ideas, I swear he’s a genius! 🤓 🤣 🤣
Love from Nat. (Brisbane, Australia) ♥️♥️🇦🇺
Maybe you needed a stiffer stick for the mica powder lol and thinner gloves?
Maybe. Thanks for your suggestions; I appreciate you watching.
@@TheresBeautyInTheBroken I find the silicone cups kind of a double edged sword. They clean up super easy but are so squishy it makes pouring difficult to control. Maybe I’m just not patient enough, I use the paper cups a lot for fine pouring, they just seem easier. Thanks for the reply🙂
@@lil.miscellaneous I couldn't agree more. I prefer them for the ease of cleaning and reduced waste, but you're right, they are more difficult to manage.
I know everybody has an opinion far be it for me to not add mine LOL😂😂😂 I can't help but Wonder if that Mica powder might mix in a little easier with a proper mixing stick and also your resin seems pretty thick... is it cold? Or maybe almost cured just wondering that may or may not be the problem?😊 thank you for your effort😊 you did well I know if I was wearing those big ass gloves I would have knocked over the first pot of resin and as i picked that up ,my glove would have picked up the next thing of mica powder then knocked over the next one and so on and so forth, that would have been the end of my video LOL. You did great thank you
Thank you - I appreciate you watching and commenting!
