- In February I went to Ecuador to hike the volcano Cotopaxi, Ecuador's most famous mountain, known to the Quechua as the Neck of the Moon. It is located in the highlands within the Ecuadorian Andes it stands at 19,347 feet. I spent a few days prior to the summit hiking other nearby mountains in and around Cotopaxi National Park.

What’s the tallest mountain you’ve ever hiked?
Mt Whitney on the P.C.T. 14,500 feet.
Mt Elbert in Colorado.
Mt. Kilimanjaro, 19,341 although Mt. Washington (considerably lower) was more difficult for me. Congratulations on your summit.
@@1121gsm thank you. Did you do Mt Washington in winter?
Mt. Whitney
Es hermoso este video.. esperemos pronto regreses a Ecuador apreciar el Cotopaxi con fumarolas ya que esta en proceso de erupción❤
Very impressive to see you achieve this climb and awesome video! Congratulations and respect!
Thanks Marc
Oh man… the top of that looked brutal! What an accomplishment, though. 👏🏼
Thank you, it was a thigh burner for sure! My legs burned so much with every step and I was so lightheaded if I tried to walk too fast.
Congratulations Alice 👍Awesome adventure, beautiful scenery. Thank you, appreciate you my friend 🙏 stay safe and take care ✌️ 👋
Thank you so much! It was a challenge for sure, so glad I made it to the top.
@@AliceFordAdventures Yes, that definitely looked like a very tough climb, especially in the weather conditions. You did AWESOME 👊👍
Thank you!
I admire You had willing to take out your camera at such altitude I would only think just get this over.
I was flying in flight simulator doing a virtual world tour and landed in Quito. Searched about the city on internet and ended up with your lovely videos. Great feet and sense of showcasing travleouges. I wish you may visit Pakistani mountains as well someday and i meet you.
Absolutely breathtaking presentation, this looks insanely beautiful upload. Freaking amazing scenery! Simply stunning cinematography! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much. I hope more people get to see it, appreciate you for watching
Loved how you included digging deep at the end. Also, great guide encouraging and pushing you.
Wow, Alice! That was awesome. You had me cheering for your push to the summit.
Thanks Eddie
Amazing video, congratulations on the climb, 👍🏴
Thank you so much for watching
Such a great clip. I am about to hit up there. Good info thank you
Wow. From earlier posts I thought you had’t made it. Big congrats!
Awesome way to go Alice, those big mountains really are ass kickers, but you conquered.
Thanks Mickey, yep they sure are. More stairs for me before hand that’s for sure
What an adventure, and the quality content is amazing, like a documentary. Thanks for posting!!!
Thank you Raul
Way to go Alice, been waiting for that one and it's my fav video of yours this year,Badass 🙌
Thankyou I know it took me longer than normal to release this video. Thanks for your patience
Hi Alice that was a rough one altitude is bad enough and then the wonderful weather
This was a major climb through many different trails, terrain and weather. So many beautiful images. Rugged, rocky, but also grassy and wide open. Colorful and harsh. Many contrasts. "Such as any adventure" This locale and hike, your video, will be on my mind. Congratulations on doing this. Wow you really are skilled and talented at filming. As usual, I'm stunned by how many places on the planet you have fully experienced.
I am glad you were able to hike to the summit! I hiked the Cotopaxi a few weeks ago but it has been erupting for the past few months so could only make it to the refugio. Plenty of sleet on the way there. :) Keep adventuring and thanks for the content!
Thanks for sharing 👍 you do so much in life im jealous
Thank you for watching. I’m going to keep challenging myself until I can no longer move :)
Thank you for this beautiful video. I am sold!
You are so welcome!
What an adventure that was! Love all your videos but this one was so neat!
Thanks John, glad you liked it
Outstanding job!!!!
You are amazing, getting it done!! Could feel the weight of your legs, awesome video!!
Thanks Patrick
Absolutely incredible!
Thank you so much for watching
Another great adventure video on your channel. Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring. I bet you've heard how Cotapaxi recently erupted again! Living on the edge:)
I sure did!! Glad I wasn’t on the summit for that
At the summit, a snow white fairy is very tired and more beautiful than ever. You are so brave and strong to able to reach the summit.
Congratulations! Amazing accomplishment. Your struggle at the summit reminded me of my first [little by comparison] mountain climb :) Loved reliving that overcoming through you. Great job!
Glad I could bring back some memories and show a little realness from high altitude climbs like this
Awesome Alice❣️I am so impressed with you!
You have a lot of fight in that body. Congratulations on a tough summit in tough conditions! Amazing video❣️
Thanks so much Robert. I was certainly feeling the burn 😆
An other great video Alice thank you for taking us along .
Only ever experienced that sort of weather in Iceland climbing up a glacier
What an experience they must have been
Very Well Done. I heard Rogan say this once on his show.
" Most of the happiest people I know suffer on purpose"!!!
Great video and awesome accomplishment! When I climbed Cotopaxi in 2014 the refugio was closed for remodeling so we had to do it from the parking lot in one push. Made for a long day as we had to leave where we were staying at 10pm
Congratulations Alice!
Wow, amazing!
Thank you
Great video, thx!
Glad you liked it!
Looks hard!
I was there in Mid January 2024. We had the same conditions climbing to the base camp. They did not allow us to continue to the glacier due to high winds and almost 0 visibility. Still, it was worth setting my personal record of 16,000 feet MSL. I highly recommend the Secret Garden Hostel. It is a beautiful setting that features many venues for socializing and watching the clouds pass by Cotopaxi.
You're tough as nails Alice!
Thanks for watching
👏👏👏👏..The Best.
I think i would have turned back. Cold and no air are discouraging to me.
It’s hard but I try to finish the challenges I set forth when I know the conditions will allow it
Awesome job, sorry about the view. We should film some hikes together.
That's gotta be so tough to keep slogging when you know you won't even get a summit view! Great job for pushing through anyway!
Yes it sure was!
Great job Alice! You did awesome in tough weather conditions! Congratulations! I got some wind and snow on my Cotopaxi summit day, but it cleared up when we are at the summit. It's a beautiful mountain! Just recently discovered your RUclips channel and Instagram. Started watching some of your past RUclips videos and looking at your Instagram posts. Looking forward to following your future adventures!
Thank you! I would have loved to see the summit but that’s mountaineering for you
@@AliceFordAdventures Yes, that's the way it goes sometimes in the mountains. Sorry about your cell phone on Longs Peak. When I was coming down from the summit of Longs Peak after the Keyhole section I took a short break on a large flat boulder and a big wind gust came out of nowhere and knocked me flat to the ground. Really enjoyed your Longs Peak video too.
Great job! Planning to go soon as well. Wanted to ask, where and how did you get your guide Fabian? Thanks and keep it up 🙏
Ah into Humboldt's footsteps and the rarified air....."The first European to attempt an ascent of Cotopaxi was Alexander von Humboldt in 1802. He failed to reach the top and pronounced the mountain unclimbable."
Well it seems he may have been lost in the fog like me then
I did Iliniza Norte on Christmas Eve/Day of 2023. looking to do Cayambe, Cotopaxi and Chimborazo this October/November. Love the video, do you have any preparation tips in advance? Thank you!
This was so moving!! Wow!! It looks like you should have had a space suit on with so little oxygen! You are a beast!! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 (my guess is you are a happy drunk😄)
Haha thank you and yes naturally
Great video !! Great adventure !! As a trail guide, lt is very rewarding to see my clients push their bodies past what their brain says they can do. Your climb was a perfect example of mind over matter. Like when you get into higher elevations. Love your videos You should be on TV. 9 LIVES 🐾 trail name. What is yours ?
Thank you Duke, it is a case of kind over matter in the mountains that’s for sure. And I don’t have a trail name.. I surely need one
@@AliceFordAdventures You can make up one but most are given. I had 3 incidents in my life that the probability of my demise was greater than life. So l was named 9 LIVES like a cat that has 9 Lives. I thought l had used 3 and should be 6 lives. But the name was given so that is how l got mine. Will try to think of one for you and your travels. 9 LIVES 🐾
Thought of a trail name for you " 5" miles. Since you hike 5 miles above sea level. What a great accomplishment !!! Best to you on your journeys !!! 9 LIVES 🐾
Is Smoking Hot Adventure Girl taken??
Is Ecuador safe to travel atm? Keen to climb but unsure if a good idea
What guide service did you use?
Cumbres Tours should be linked in the description and also more details on my blog post
Where do you get your inspiration from?
That’s a good question. I competed in sports from a young age and have an internal drive to finish things I start.
Coffee or Beer Stipend!
Thank you
Do you have a Patreon where we can donate?
I do it should be linked in the description you can also buy super thanks I believe from the video page on RUclips
