  • In February I went to Ecuador to hike the volcano Cotopaxi, Ecuador's most famous mountain, known to the Quechua as the Neck of the Moon. It is located in the highlands within the Ecuadorian Andes it stands at 19,347 feet. I spent a few days prior to the summit hiking other nearby mountains in and around Cotopaxi National Park.

I was there in Mid January 2024. We had the same conditions climbing to the base camp. They did not allow us to continue to the glacier due to high winds and almost 0 visibility. Still, it was worth setting my personal record of 16,000 feet MSL. I highly recommend the Secret Garden Hostel. It is a beautiful setting that features many venues for socializing and watching the clouds pass by Cotopaxi.

When I was coming down from the summit of Longs Peak after the Keyhole section I took a short break on a large flat boulder and a big wind gust came out of nowhere and knocked me flat to the ground.
