In my 1 week use so far I haven't had any issues with the video AF. It's been great everytime. If i do notice any problems I'll update with a pinned comment.
I like the Zve-10 II. It won't be ideal for super high action sports photography but then again it's hard to find anything under 1k that would be great at that. It will do well in 95% of situations though
@@FulaanCreative do you think resolve is smoother than adobe premiere, i have some isues when i try to render in premiere with luts and other effect, not many, but the frame rate goes down and slows like shit when i press play, i have a Windows 10 with 2gb nvidia gpu and 16gb ram +i7.
In most cases Resolve is much smoother than premier. That being said I am not familiar with your setup as I use Mac but I would say give it a shot. It's free so you can't lose.
Great video. Thank you for posting this review. Would you say that the Canon R10 has the same organic image quality as your Canon Eos R? Keep up the great work!
Thanks Andrew. So far to me It looks very different. I wouldn't necessarily say better or worse, just different. I have only had the camera for about a week now so I can't make a final judgement but will do more content as time passes.
@@FulaanCreative thank you my friend for the quick reply. Yes, that is the same feeling that I am getting from watching your video. It does seem very different from the Eos R. I will be looking forward to your future videos. Again, keep up the great work.
Thx for all the info! I'm new to all of this and i do have a basic; maybe stupid question. I like the idea of the " viltrox speed booster r10" Is it possible to combine it with Meike Drop-in ND Filte?
Thank you for always dropping knowledge and real reviews! 🙏🏽 I have a question I’m hoping you can answer for me. I’m a barber and I’m going to be starting my RUclips journey dropping barber tutorials. I saw your video where you were saying the M50 was a good camera to record on but it only has 30 minutes and the new R10 has a 2 hour record time. Which one would you recommend me going with?
You are welcome Kenneth. If it's your first interchangeable lens camera then m50 is fine and may even be overkill. If a few extra hundred dollars is no big deal then the R10 is better.
Hey Fulaan, I love Ur reviews. Bought myself a R10 in special offer for just around 700 bucks after inhaling your vids. Thank you for your work. Q: In what mode, which profile do U use for video shooting? I kinda remeber U shoot in cinestyle profile, right? Also bought you LUTs. What do you do when converting? From log directly to your LUTs or do U do some kind of colour correction first - so log->709->LUT? When I do this it always seems a little bit too much. Maybe U could do a vid on your workflow from log-footage to final output. Thx Doc from Germany
Rally helpful video for a beginner like me. So in every review I watch of any beginner camera, people always complain about the absence of IBIS, and if it is there, they complain about the quality of it. So my question is, do you really need IBIS or is it something you've been used to having as a pro? I mean does a beginner actually need it?
Think about cameras like the M50, The EOS R, The BMPC Cameras, Most professional cinema cameras etc... So much amazing content has been made with those cameras and they don't have IBIS. You just need to learn how to get stable footage. In the case of Canon the Digital IS is actually quite good.
Hi again, just had another question. Did you record your sound with a mic plugged into the R10. I’m asking because if this is true, the preamps on the R10 sound great. Did you do any EQ sound tweaking in post? Thank you again!
Thank you for this very informative and good explained test video! I was thinking about starting with photography and video shooting, and was looking for a good beginner camera. Now, I'd probaly start with the EOS R10!
Hello. Color grading is a pain, the colors look unnatural (I'm assuming they would look natural on an HDR display possibly). Also you lose some options such as controlling a setting called clarity which I believe is something like sharpening. In the normal modes you can turn it off or adjust it but in HDR PQ it has to stay on and you can't adjust the strength. Overall it just didn't lool nice, it's hard to describe. Some shots looked nice but most of the footage looked plastic, if that makes any sense.
Damn…was looking forward to some complicated scientific experiments! Would love to see a comparison between the R, and R10 to see if the FF magic still shines through. Always enjoy!
Yo Fulaan! Love your videos man, I’m wondering if you have a video for the Canon RP? Especially in regards to its video capabilities, this would be a great review if you would consider making it.
Thanks for the kind words and suggestion. Regarding tutorial vids; all the videos I made for the M50 and EOR R would be applicable to the RP. That's one of the awesome things about Canon, their UI is pretty much the same across mostly all their cameras. Regarding a review video on the RP I would consider making one if I happened to come across a used RP at a bargain price but I'll keep it in mind for sure. Thanks!
@@FulaanCreative appreciate that! I’ll make sure to go check those videos out. I plan on using my camera mostly for shooting videos in the gym and nighttime filming. Do you think the r10 with the speed booster or RP would be a better fit? I’m just curious your opinion I’m having trouble deciding lol
Hello! Saw that you used a Viltrox speedbooster for the R10 but isn't the R10 cropped sensor? Would it still widen the image regardless of sensor size/lens type?
Yes, the speed booster is designed to be used on an APS-C Camera. It reduces the apc-c crop by 71% so the field of view becomes closer to that of a full frame camera.
You could but personally I didn't like the way the footage looked. It was difficult to grade compared to c-log or cinestyle. It probably would have looked very good on an HDR display though.
Thanks Pablo! I will run some tests, hopefully I can include them in an upcoming video. As of right now I can't really say because I haven't used the R10 for photos yet but I'll be doing a wildlife photography video with the R10 soon.
@@FulaanCreative Please and what about autofocus. Can you say some your feeling about ef-glasses mount on R10. I see in DPReview that with these lenses is there slight front or back focus. Thanks
In Video I haven't noticed that at all. I am not sure which lens DP review was using but I used the nifty 50, the tamron 15-30 and the sigma 18-35 and haven't had any issue with video AF as of yet. If it does happen though I'll try and make a video about it asap.
cinestyle was designed specific for 5d ii senser only,if you want accurate flat picture for other model i sugest u make your own cinestyle like profile using canon picture style tool software
Interesting. thanks for the tip. Where do you get the software. I have seen the one used to install picture profiles but I never seen one for designing your own and having control over the contrast curve etc.
@@FulaanCreative first take a raw pict ,then instal the software in your pc,conect your cam, open the software and drag the raw picture into the app and choose any base profile im usualy select neutral then custumize the RGB curve to your prefarance, then instal the profile to your cam
Ensure that EOS Utility v2.6 or later is installed on your computer Download the Technicolor CineStyle™ Profile Connect your camera to your computer using the appropriate USB cable Start the Canon EOS Utility Select "Camera settings/Remote shooting" on the main window Once the capture window opens, click the camera icon Click "Register User Defined style" under "Shooting menu" Once the new page "Register Picture Style File" opens, select one of User Def. 1, 2 or 3 at the top of the new page Click the open file icon Select the CineStyle.pf2 file you've just downloaded Click on OK
I bought the sigma 18 to 35 and the af doesn't work on my eos R. The camera tracks faces just fine but it still doesn't focus. It keeps focusing the background even when the little square is on people's face. Then I read that sigma lenses don't work with canon cameras?... and that people keep having that problem even after updating the firmware on both camera and lens... and yes, it focus perfectly on my blackmagic 6k auto focus. Do you have this problem too?
Sorry to hear that Alfredo. That's the first time I ever heard that. I have the Sigma 18-35 and it works great on my Eos R both in photo and video. Have you tried to switch out the adapter that you are using? My 18-35 is set on the old firmware which allows me to use it in full frame mode with vignette up to 28mm or Aps-c mode with no vignette. Have you inquired with Sigma about the issue? As a side I have never heard of Sigma lenses not working with Canon Cameras. They specifically made EF lenses for Canon Cameras. Are you using the 18-35 that has the Sigma mount or the EF mount? The Sigma mount may for but the electronics are different if I'm not mistaken.
r10 is much more advanced and has no 30 minute limit. RP has a softer image that some may prefer, has the benefit of being full frame but still has 30 minute record limit and other limitations.
Don't get me wrong I don't think it's the worst thing in the world. It's just that it's weird to grade and it grays out the option in the camera to lower the clarity which looks like a kind of noise reduction and sharpening. I always prefer to turn that all the way down. So it's ok but i most def prefer c-log.
The fact that the Nikon z50 which i bought 4 months ago for Rs 71K when the R10 was around Rs 90K but now with the Z50ii around, the Z50 only dropped to around Rs 68K while the the R10 dropped to Rs 73K says a lot about the Brand Value which is sad considering the spec sheet of the R10 is great. I know you don't buy a cam for it's resale value but it's sad to see Canon handicap their own products after promoting as something revolutionary in the price segment. The Z50 wasn't overhyped by Nikon but it is capable of doing a almost everything without giving you the scope to blame Nikon for false promises. Canon followed Sony's strategy of promoting their Strong AF so much that they forget they sabotage their own cameras which even Sony doesn't.
I havea problem when I shoot in 10bit HDR mode n tranfer my file's on laptop my videos don't get played I even used vlc and premiere pro to open the video it just doesn't please help me
No need to test it, I can tell you that it's pretty bad. You can see it in some of my test footage on even though I didn't whip the camera around too much. So I would either just use it on a tripod or if you do hand held then you need steady hands. That being said it's not too big of a deal as it is similar to most cameras out there in this price range.
@@FulaanCreative There's a hiss not sure if it's the mic or the volume on your camera is too high (If you have the mic plugged directly into the camera)
The image is extremely noisy to the point where I wouldn't care about the R10 and go for a ZV E10... If I wasn't going to use the 10 bit, then what's the point? The ZV E 10 is better and cheaper. Canon colors? Maybe, but can't justify the price difference...
Yes you are right the image can be a bit noisy. This video was shot with the noise reduction all the way off. You can turn it to medium or strong but it makes the image a bit softer so yeah, it does have some noise issues.
@@FulaanCreative quick question, what camera would you recommend for talking head videos, just like the one you were doing for the review? Fixed light, no need for OIS or digital stab, just a big need for blurring the background and less noise and decent skin tones. Thank you so much!
@@AI3Dorinte The Canon R7 and FX30 are decent options but if skin tones are a priority I'd go for the R7. If you look at my videos other than the r10 review they were all shot with the EOR R which in my opinion is still a good option. Especially if you prefer full-frame.
Thanks for visiting the comments section! After leaving a comment you can check out this playlist for more content ruclips.net/video/mQ1-IIh_h60/видео.html
I haven't tried the z30 but would love to. I would disagree that it is a useless camera however. Especially for someone trying to use it as their b-cam to another cannon camera.
@@FulaanCreative please see the features canon giving u F4.5 aperture. Even by paying more money. There are videos in RUclips u can see low light comparison of these cameras. Canon is just overrated
Great review man! My wife has been shooting more and more and I'm not able to lend her my camera all the time because I need it for work so she's been looking into a camera that she can use that's under 1K but can still shoot 4K and has slow motion. This seems to be the best option for her

I like the Zve-10 II. It won't be ideal for super high action sports photography but then again it's hard to find anything under 1k that would be great at that. It will do well in 95% of situations though
@@FulaanCreative what counts as super high action
Can u explain to me how do You do the slider from RAW video to lut video ?
Just a simple edge wipe effect in resolve.
Thanks Andrew!
Thx for all the info! I'm new to all of this and i do have a basic; maybe stupid question. I like the idea of the " viltrox speed booster r10" Is it possible to combine it with Meike Drop-in ND Filte?
Unfortunately not.
@@FulaanCreative thank you.
Thank you for always dropping knowledge and real reviews! 🙏🏽
I have a question I’m hoping you can answer for me.
Thanks! This video shows how I go about it ruclips.net/video/FwmNi0LhwPI/видео.html
I made this video with a camera without IBIS and it explains a few creative ways to get stable footage ruclips.net/video/i6ciWPIQx_U/видео.html
Can you make a comparison video of r10 vs r50?
Let's see what the future holds.
Is this camera is best for beginners
I think it's a great camera for beginners. The Canon R50 is also a good starter camera.
How does the r10 do with product showcase videos?
It should do fine so long as you have good lighting.
@@FulaanCreative thank you for the response!
Right off the rip to the facts and you dumbed it down to a brother like me that don’t got experience with cameras. You earned my like and subscribe 💪🏽
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful.
Hi again, just had another question. Did you record your sound with a mic plugged into the R10. I’m asking because if this is true, the preamps on the R10 sound great. Did you do any EQ sound tweaking in post?
Thank you again!
Hello. Yes, it was a shotgun mic plugged into the r10 with some EQ adjustments.
Hi. Great content as always. FYI, your Viltrox adapter link goes to the Canon adapter. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I appreciate that. Unfortunately the Viltrox speed booster is no longer available hence I linked to the Canon one.
Thank you for this very informative and good explained test video! I was thinking about starting with photography and video shooting, and was looking for a good beginner camera. Now, I'd probaly start with the EOS R10!
You are very welcome. I'm glad it was helpful.
In which mode did you test the overheating? 4k fine?
Yes, the highest quality mode that was available.
Hello again, nice video. What was the problem with HDR-PQ mode, it is compressing to much or color grading is pain with this HDR ?
@@FulaanCreative Thank you again. :)
Damn…was looking forward to some complicated scientific experiments! Would love to see a comparison between the R, and R10 to see if the FF magic still shines through. Always enjoy!
Lol! Once I get a lab coat and some spectacles I'll be able to do some Gerald Undone style experiments. Thanks for watching and commenting Gordon.
Love canon..❤
Couldn’t you shoot in HDR, the in Davinci resolve, color space transform to a log format like CLOG?
You could but personally I didn't like the way the footage looked. It was difficult to grade compared to c-log or cinestyle. It probably would have looked very good on an HDR display though.
I couldn't find the speedboster for EF lenses for this aps-c R Mount cameras on the Viltrox webpage. Would you please help me find one. Thanks.
Unfortunately Canon Sued Viltrox and forced them to take it off the market. Your best bet would be a used copy on Ebay or craigslist.
@@FulaanCreative That's bad news. Thanks for your quick reply. I love your content!
Fulaan! Great vídeo! i have a question, how great is the Sigma 18-35 with the R10 in Focus for photography? fast? accurate? no problems?
@@FulaanCreative OK thank you for answering
Will there be a fix for the autofocus via firmware update anytime soon?
Personally I haven't had any issue with the AF yet.
awesome video, I really want to buy this camera for shooting 1080, but I don't know if it's any sharper than the m50, if so how much sharp is it?
I haven't really messed around with the 1080 but the 4k is crazy sharp compared to the m50.
@@FulaanCreative that was a very fast reply, thank you man, was actually shocked why I haven't subscribe yet, keep up with the great r10 content 😄
where I give to record videos, the red button, I have that camera and I don't know how to record.
Put the dial on the icon that has the video camera then hit the red button. That should do it.
cinestyle was designed specific for 5d ii senser only,if you want accurate flat picture for other model i sugest u make your own cinestyle like profile using canon picture style tool software
Interesting. thanks for the tip. Where do you get the software. I have seen the one used to install picture profiles but I never seen one for designing your own and having control over the contrast curve etc.

Thank you so much brother ❤️🔥
The Sigma mount may for but the electronics are different if I'm not mistaken.
great video thanks
Thanks for watching and commenting.
How is the r10 v the rp for video?
r10 is much more advanced and has no 30 minute limit. RP has a softer image that some may prefer, has the benefit of being full frame but still has 30 minute record limit and other limitations.
Fantastic review and information Overall looks like very good value I had been looking for 10 bit 4k but do no want hdr I have Sigma ef glass too
Yes, it's grown on me a bit over these past few months. decent little camera.
HDR PQ… in premiere or Final Cut , convert it to Rec709 and it’s beautiful!
@@FulaanCreative yes 🙌🏾 clog is better as that’s the more normal work flow! Hopefully a firmware update can help that
@@mrdamiansingh Yes I hope so.
@@FulaanCreative lol but remember as well HDR PQ is like CLOG 2 you can preserve your highlights and mid tones
I havea problem when I shoot in 10bit HDR mode n tranfer my file's on laptop my videos don't get played I even used vlc and premiere pro to open the video it just doesn't please help me
I'm not sure. I use the paid version of resolve and works with the r10 hdr pq files.

Can someone guide me to install cine style for canon R10 ?

no clog is a bummer, but video quality is way sharper than m6ii
Yeah, doesn't make sense to get the M6 II any longer unless all you care about is the smaller form factor.
If I compare Sony A6400 vs Canon R10,, Which one should be picked? for a hobbyist.
My preference is the R10. Canon is generally much easier to use than Sony. Results will be very similar with some pros and cons to both.
Can you please extensively test rolling shutter on the R10 in a video?
No need to test it, I can tell you that it's pretty bad. You can see it in some of my test footage on even though I didn't whip the camera around too much. So I would either just use it on a tripod or if you do hand held then you need steady hands. That being said it's not too big of a deal as it is similar to most cameras out there in this price range.
@@FulaanCreative I hate rolling shutter, that’s why I’m looking at cameras that have 1:1 readout like the GH5s, BPCC4K or the A7S III… C70 etc.
@@FulaanCreative is it worst than eos r in 4k?

Great review, very helpful! Work on that audio though 😊
Thanks! What's up with the audio though? Room Reverb, background noise or mic hiss? Let me know what you were specifically referring to.
@@FulaanCreative There's a hiss not sure if it's the mic or the volume on your camera is too high (If you have the mic plugged directly into the camera)
Gotchya. Thanks for the heads up.
