That outfit you had on with the flannel shirt and vest looked just fine. It wasn't an outfit for a night out in LA, but was perfect for a day out on the weekend around pine trees and freshly made fudge.

Honestly, He Spoke Style is properly the best menswear channel for men who don't want to look young. His and The Armoury are basically the only ones I watch (such a shame that he isn’t that consistent with his uploads lately). The outfits presented here aren’t really a good representation of the usual looks provided on the channel, as they often tend to be way more classic but still with a modern touch. Highly recommend 👍

Totally agree. Brian and Mark are the best-dressed men I have come across on RUclips/social media. They are comfortable with embracing age and looking your age rather than always trying too hard to look younger. It seems Ashley dug deep and specifically chose outfits she could nitpick on. I used to like this channel when Ashley and Dorian would just do their own thing but now lately I see a lot of videos more in line trying to capture viewership with themes on grabbing women's attention, looking younger, and the usual do this/that. It seems this channel itself is trying too hard.

Joking aside, for which I found this episode extreme enjoyable. I have to admit, these 3 gentlemen's channels are among the most watched style channels that I get pretty much all my inspiration from, my hats off to all 3 of you and I hope you are all doing well.
Thanks Ashley! I was a little sceptical at first when I read the headline; as I thougth the video might be slightly on the negative side towards the online competition. On the contrary, this was really good stuff, positive, interesting and educational! You really stand out as an expert on the topic and I learned a lot, so again thank you!

I personally wear socks with my loafers. Maybe for the young dudes the bare ankle look may work but not in our office.

brian from hespokestyle dresses really well for the most part. yes, there are times when he could do better. but in general, i think he dresses much better than how you dress your clients. i'd rather take style tips from him.

Let’s talk about that blouse you’re wearing… it’s a bit evening wear and it looks very senior citizen. My grandmother would love it. A neutral color would have been pretty.
All 4 of these channels help provide some great style tips for men. Granted I watch 2 of these channels more than the other 2 but what I notice is they all have some outfits that look sharp and some I wouldn't feel comfortable in. :) Most importantly, they all emphasize fit, fit, and fit...which is what I was lacking the most. Sorry, Ashley but I watch your channel the least. However, I will say that your style advice is probably the one I should follow the most...which is why I need this channels. Thanks for sharing your expertise!

Thanks for sharing-your “tweaks” provide a lot of helpful insight. Fashion choices for a ‘youthful’ sixty five ish in shape 5’ 7” just trying to look good while keeping it very simple not too trendy is challenging. Some fashion advice on how to dress when you don’t look your age would be very helpful.
I mean classic mens fashion has no age limit, im 30 and can pull off any of the classic stuff and only look good with it and not "old"

These men all have a good following for a reason. Just because it’s not your style in particular doesn’t make them bad style choices. Sure, you can go in and comment on what could be paired better with each outfit but honestly they are all great.I mean, just take a look at most of the men out there who couldn’t even begin to dress like these fine men. Maybe you should just pick on the 35 plus guys still wearing cargo shorts and flip flops. I think this is just an excuse for content when you couldn’t think of anything else. Let them do there thing. They are a great group of guys and continue to put out great content for their subscribers.

She’s not hating on them, she’s giving her professional opinion. I agree with most of her takes and many other men do as well.
I prefer the advice of Courtney Ryan when it comes to style, but she seems more focused on dating, which means she's probably catering to her audience. When CCR does give style advice, I pay attention.
Everyone has their opinions and I agree with some of hers, , but hiding shoe lace ends inside the shoe is SAF IMO. I think it looks more polished to tie the laces with a berlutti knot. If you don't want lace ends, buy uu-laces or something.
this is such a " This is my opinion" piece. Your criticisms are very personal rather than questioning whether they are follow good style ways.

I feel that style OGs colour choice (mostly the pink) works because of his skin tone. I don't think I could wear it as a pasty white man
I find discussions of skin tone to be racist and best to avoid. I'm surprised Ashley has fallen into this trap.

I think for men over 35 Hespoke has the best style. A nice classic masculine earthy look that works to my view. His videos have inspired my purchases. I watch the other guys as well, and pickup some tips here and there.
I think the outfit @4:50 would look really nice with a nice navy Trenchcoat and brown oder navy cupsole sneakers.

Although I have no issue with going for a dark wash jeans for a lot of these looks, I would have liked to have seen more options besides the dark wash. If I wanted to wear dress pants instead of dark wash jeans, what would be recommended. Something like that.
Great choices for the latest critique. I think OG pretty consistently nails it. 40 Over is hit or miss but generally has a good look for himself. He Spoke is a bit high end and not practical for average guys but if you have lots of money, some interesting ideas.

I subscribe to both Style OG & 40 Over Fashion. Both are excellent references for us older guys. The 1st 40 Over outfit is nothing like I have seen him wear on his channel, and the last one was from a video on how to wear statement pieces, so from a very specific type of video. Otherwise all of the tweaks are spot on. I do feel that He Spoke often tries too hard, so I kinda stopped watching him.
The first 40OverFashion look was clearly cherry-picked. That look never shows up and is definitely not representative of the channel’s style.
I bet John has over 1000 pics on his site Ashley didn't look for pics to make positive comments about, she was looking for things she disagreed with. I follow all three of these guys channels. I see plenty of looks I don't love but they make me think and consider what I like and what I don't and more importantly why I don't like it. Ashley is about "fads" and whats currently cool. He Spoke especially is about TRUE style not just fads such as white sneakers or bomber jackets. Each challenel has a role but Ashley will never match Brian S's sense of style.
I used to have to wear white jeans when I worked at an ice cream store as a kid. The problem is you won't make it from the house to the car without getting something on them that shows.
Yes, he spoke style is trying to hard, over 40 is the safest bet but style OG is definitely enjoying life... And i always go with the salutes KING!!!
The thing I have to question is the white pants with what appears to be worn with fall or even winter sweaters and coats.
For the next rating video, I suggested Mark Cho and Alan see of the Armoury.
The Armoury tv is hands down that best content for classic menswear! 🙂👍 My go to. Not sure that it is mainstream enough to be appreciated by this channel though.
No offends, but if you ask a high street stylist to comment on a menswear guru…it’ll lead directly to a train wreck. Especially while the Armoury guys are talking about 16oz Japanese left hand twill, our Ashley is still trying hard to figure out the difference between chinos and casual trousers. Both the Armoury and Drake’s have superior taste than this channel. And their audiences are different as well. This channel here is more about teaching those school kids in Nikes how to dress up, The Armoury is focusing on classic menswear, their readers are much more experienced in tailoring.
Awww, dissapointed that you chose 3 pictures all on the same theme from Hespoke style. He has such great clothing combos and I feel like those few photos don't really represent his true style, especially because those three pics were part of promotional content. :(

I agree on all the outfits except the second He Spoke Style outfit. As you said, he matched the colors and they just look nice together, also, white jeans are just a clean, sharp choice and work just as well as dark wash jeans would. I do agree though that lace-up boots would be a good choice. All the best, Ashley. He Spoke Style medium wash jeans too light? It sounds like you only recommend dark wash jeans or reluctantly lighter wash jeans only in the summer. Is there a place for medium wash jeans like he was wearing? How would you pair them? New video on how & when to wear the different jean washes?
Of course medium blue as its place even in the winter. The outfit in He spoke Style was just fine
Too light… for those medium brown boots. If we wore a tan boot, it would go with those pants (but not the rest of the outfit). Discussed how to wear different colors of jeans many times on the channel - search it!

He Spoke Style dresses with a great deal of intent and finesse. I agree with most of Ashley's critiques, but I think the white jean/white shearling jacket was sharp AF.
Way too dandy for me, but that in no way makes it wrong or try too hard. I like that Brain is not afraid to push his own boundaries. Sometimes over done is done just right. Sometimes you feel like making a statement and nobody would get poorly dressed from that outfit...Not even Ashley. Some times men's traditional clothing staples get boring. Brian gets top marks from me for pushing his limits and encouraging me to push my style norms.

I do agree with Ash. I think about what she said, and yes, her tweaks do make the outfits better. But then I'm a fan of minimalist masculine style, which is what I think Ash has the most affinity for. Also I think men's style is more complicated than women's in a way, because for men you have so many elements together - tops, bottoms, shoes, coat, ties, belts, watches, whereas women can just wear a dress and shoes.

Great critique. All fits were on point fit wise and that goes a long way towards looking and feeling good about an outfit. Only a few minor adjustments on a few of the outfits were needed. Ashley has a very broad sense of Business casual. In any business office situation socks are a must. Nobody wants to see man ankles at work. I guess it’s a West Coast thing. Loafers w/ mid or OTC for business environment is respectful. No show socks or sockless needs to be reserved for off the clock times. Unless you in Hawaii, don’t wear loud floral prints in a business setting unless the goal is to stand out.

I like a lot of these. Though living in a hot climate in a beach town, some of the ones with coats and scarves and stuff would come off as a bit forced. Also always hated loafers. They were way too sliver spoon prep kid for me. Though love the dark wash jeans looks, the brown boots as a common theme, the advice on color and skin gone. love the style og's pink pants outfit. Not sure i'd be bold enough to rock those pants though. love that shirt though.

Many times I agree with you but on the don't wear socks with loafers idea I am not a fan. I side with Hugo Jacomet on this one. Socks should be worn always. No one wants to see a man's hairy ankles.
Totally fine! Just a personal preference.
I think it depends. Some looks best with socks (more on the formal side), others work without (more on the informal side).
@@cityhawk I still think of loafers as semi-formal. They are leather and you can buy really nice ones. I would never wear them with a suit, but with slacks or chinos and a sweater or nice shirt etc. Of course, if you are wearing shorts the no look socks are a must but I don't wear shorts out anywhere at my age. :) I am an older guy too so that also informs my style preferences. I would never ever wear sneakers with a suit. I wouldn't wear loafers either. A suit calls for proper shoes.
I have to agree with her critique here 1:00. I’m not a big fan of loafers in the winter. A boot or some thick soled brogue with tan socks matching the turtleneck.

I wish I could subtract my view from your view count. These men show tons of looks a year and you pick a couple of not so good ones to get a few views. Using their content to make your content is cheap. You can do better.

Almost in every look you suggest to swipe it to something radically different, not what he was aiming for. Like "swipe white jeans to navy chinos, change rugged jacket to wool peacoat, wear brown boots instead of white sneakers and with those "tiny" adjustment's it will look better". WTF😂
1:35 Do you realize how expensive it is to get jackets to match most of your outfits? A cheaper jacket will still cost around $75. Nice ones cost hundreds. ...and you have ripped on pea coats in the past...what changed your mind?
What?!?!? He Spoke's outfit doesn't scream trying too hard. He's wearing and matching his outfit effortlessly. The turtleneck compliments the coat very well. She just seems to want to say something about anything. Where are the videos critiquing her fluffy princess wear? Vanilla, to be sure... nothing sexy or alluring about her own style. It just says uptight, and people just tolerate her.
