Pretty much. They are just silly opinion pieces anyway who really gives a fuck at the end of the day. I only hear about them cause other people make videos about them if it wasn't for that I wouldn't even know these opinion pieces even existed. Most people are too busy living their own lives and trying to find something fun to play after a long day of the work grind for a few hours.
The only real controversy that there should be. And, it’s coming from the Chinese themselves in China. The number of audience don’t believe that it actually represents journey to west appropriately & it’s funded by the government. Boy, that sounds more realistic of an argument. If anything, I’m happy this game is coming out and causing this amount of drama.
Wukong is the most Woke character ever. He was born from a gender neutral rock. He learned 72 transformations including girl and animals. He is non-sexual because he is a monk. He is asexual because he can clone himself using his own hair. Lastly, he made best buddy with black bull. Nevertheless, Wukong still failed to make Woke people happy.
To be honest, as a Chinese, I was very confident about the diversity of wukong. We had a monkey born from a stone as the main character, human-like monsters transformed from various animals, and gods from various religious beliefs. Never thought the Western media would be so critical of it in this regard. sad
They rejected the blackmail from a certain SBI grp and so the western media went on a crusade against them. Don't worry their days are numbered the game will do massively well
It's hilarious, but the way they think is "if customers spend $70 on that game that's $70 that they won't give us." They would rather you spend $70 on tier skips for concord's battlepass than even know that black myth wokong exists.
@@NextGenGamerss Lmao, funnily enough that game actually did diversity right😂 but "oh no! It's selling too much!" Is what they resort to instead of praising it for being well made.
AAA studios are trying to block the Chinese ( and other emerging ) AA-AAA developers from filling the singleplayer good game void they themselves left behind.
The mistranslation thing speaks volumes about the source of the problem. Are you telling me, the guys that keep chanting about diversity so much that it's all over their social media, don't have a guy that can speak Chinese in the office?
Yep, they don't actually care about diversity or understanding. They just care about how they are viewed and the social power it brings. Classic virute signaling.

Sun Wukong was born from the cracks of a stone, and one could say he is a silicon-based life form, belonging to a minority group. The Stone Monkey originally had no gender, so he can be viewed as a typical member of the LGBTQ+ community (though this interpretation is more modern and abstract). Additionally, since he is a monk, he is also a vegetarian. He caused a ruckus in the underworld, protecting the monkeys from persecution, highlighting his noble spirit of animal protection. He was trapped under the Five Finger Mountain for five hundred years, enduring immense suffering, which gave him a deeper understanding of freedom; thus, he can also be considered a liberal. Whenever he encounters a woman, he refers to her as a "female Bodhisattva," showing respect for women's rights, which makes him a feminist. His arduous efforts to extinguish the flames of the Flaming Mountain demonstrated his greatness as an environmental warrior. In the plot of the Kingdom of Women, there are elements of male surrogacy and permissible abortion, reflecting progress in the struggle for reproductive rights. With such a profile that encompasses multiple positive attributes like being a minority, an LGBTQ+ member, a vegetarian, an animal rights advocate, a feminist, an environmentalist, and a liberal, combined with his miraculous ability to change forms seventy-two times, he seems to have explosively stacked various positive buffs onto himself. Yet, some people still say he is politically incorrect?
"In 'Black Myth: Wukong,' critics miss the essence, seeking to impose shallow labels on deep roots. True diversity is found in the soul of the story, not in the noise of those who misunderstand it."
Mostly because it doesnt adhere to western rules (thank goodness it does not)..the world wants every nation to live under the same kind of ideology but if you dont fit in you are ostracized.
I don’t get why developers and publishers keep giving early access to game journalists anymore. No one cares about these publications anymore and all they do is make up drama. Just give copies of the game to RUclipsrs. You’ll get the game out these and everyone will get (mostly) honest reviews. We don’t need game journalists anymore

Journalist: This game lacks diversity. Translation: I didn't see a human with a dark skin tone or actively announcing unprompted that they are LGBTQ in conversation.
As a black man who’s excited for this game speaking for the black community we don’t care about this for the game stop including us in this diversity thing. This is why people think all we care about is race. 🤦🏽♂️😂people are mad about the “sexism” apparently.
Supposedly it has too few women. That is the lack of diversity and inclusion. Not enough female characters for the monkey king to smack around with his pole. Because that would obviously go well over with the same reviewer. As it is, "Too few women! Where are the female enemies!", and in a alternate universe with female enemies, "The game is heavily misogynistic with a main character that goes around assaulting women. Can't say I'm surprised after the allegations of sexism levied against the the company that made the game." Can't win. It was written by an unsufferable reviewer, and no matter what it would have been an unsufferable review.
What is funny is how IGN starts their reviews of the yearly COD/FIFA/insertcrapgamehere releases stating "we will not compare this game with previous installments in the series and only look at this games impact as a standalone" but then games like this are "we will only judge this game on outside impacts and not consider the game as a standalone"

So random fact: for that Chinese saying of "It is never too late for revenge", the actual idiom is “君子报仇,十年不晚/君子報仇,十年不晚” which literally means "ten years is not too late for a gentlemen to take his revenge". The quote is allegedly attribute to an event recorded in Shiji or "Record of the Grand Historian" during Warring State period. There was a low born scholar named Fan Sui who was in service for state of Wei. He was a great diplomat and politician, but he was set up and accused of treason by his political enemies and the King of Wei at the time have him brutally whipped and humiliated. Barely surviving with his life, he escaped to state of Qin and devoted his service to its King (who was the great grandfather of the First Emperor). He eventually raise to the rank of Grand Chancellor (second in command after the King) after performing and series of diplomatic politics and internal reform. He had then successfully convince the King of Qin to march into the state of Wei which leads to Wei's destruction. He then personally sees his 2 former colleague and accuser that were in Wei's service humiliated and push them into committing suicide. When that happens it was 10 years after his disgraceful discharge.
Hmm reply didn't go through. Let me try again. To add context related to this particular phrase, it really reflects the difference in what the Chinese consider "gentlemanly" or really "Manly" behavior versus western concepts of what it means to be a gentleman. In the west, we think back to like the 3 Musketeers or Hamilton, where if you are a man, and your honor is besmirched, then you must respond immediately and in force, or else you are not a gentleman. Even if that gets you killed, like Hamilton, well as least you died a gentleman. But the Chinese concept is the opposite. They would not call that behavior gentlemanly, but rather foolish. That's not being a gentleman, that's just machismo. If someone corners you, and insults you to try to provoke you into doing something foolish, well don't fall for that. That does NOT make you any less of a man .... SO LONG AS YOU GET YOUR REVENGE LATER .... even if it takes you 10 years. Retreat, lower your head, cower, beg, whatever, if that let's you survive and fight for another day, that's OKAY. Now if you just run away and disappear, sure that just makes you a coward. But so long as you come back one day and get your revenge, now THAT is a true gentleman in the eyes of the Chinese. The corollary to this saying would be 好汉不吃眼前亏, or roughly translated "A REAL MAN knows to retreat when the odds are against him". Not that macho culture doesn't also exist in China, but that type of behavior would be considered foolish and the mark of a low level individual, not befitting a true gentleman.

The comment "we'll only answer questions about gameplay", is such an amazing answer. I wish western developers had the balls to say something like that!
Wukong is a character from Journey to the West. Possibly one of the more woke Chinese stories out there. For example, there was a part where Wukong and his team (all men) arrive at an all female kingdom. They accidentally drank magical water that got them all pregnant. Not wanting to give birth as a man, Wukong enlisted help from one of the God's in heaven which gave them pills to get an abortion. They then proceeded with the abortion.

As a Chinese, I know that in recent years, the competition between the East and the West has politicized almost everything, but the group of gamers has always remained rational. We share similar aesthetics, we vote with our own money, and we know what a good game is and what a bad game is. I think diversity was never supposed to mean that every subsets of sexuality, gender and race should be included in every media product. Diversity should be about every subsets having a representation. The best way to do this is to let the people in question tell their own stories.
There's no accountability for journalism malpractice. There should be a 3 strike rule, at the 3rd fck up where you cause damage to someone or business while being wrong you go sit for 5 years idgaf.

To be fair, BG3 was not complete. There is a huge list of cut contents that they openly share. But Larian were more earnest in their production, and let players review the Early Access for other people and give feedback or suggestions on what to add; they even livestream the gameplay each update of the EA. Even now, they're still adding even more contents and bug fixes they could to the game. They didn't do a Cyberpunk 2077 of masking the game till release, only to found that it's a mess, and took 2 years to fix, which were also thanks to the players. It could be worse, like Bioware's Anthem.
Well it was all a ploy, BG3 is really filled with diverse/progressive views in Act 1, and from what I've heard Act 3 isn't even complete. They didn't even finish coding Levels 14-20 of the DnD classes and gave up at L13. The very first real quest is saving the poor tiefling refugees from being kicked out by the mean druids out of their Druid Grove, who are just being meanies with no reason to kick them out (other than draining resources and inviting goblins to attack). Never mind the tieflings are intentionally antagonistic to them, don't discipline their kids from stealing from the druids, and threatening to riot.

To this game journalist if there's no DEI in the game it means it's not a good game. Meanwhile gamers can't wait to play and buy this game because the gameplay is fun and it's in a mythological setting. Goes to show what they are really prioritising in a game.
Why do you think most Ubisoft games feel like they threw all the gameplay elements stolen from other games and throw them into a blender to make grey slop? “If we put everyone favourite food in the blender, everyone will love it” But they keep making vanilla sushi kimchi donut pizza burger chocolate smoothies and wondering why nobody likes it.
@@glawenclattuc3127 What? Do you disagree? That's fine, I guess. But to me Ubisoft games have for the most part been incredibly bland, they don't taste like anything in particular despite all the ingredients in it. Just like konjac when eaten by itself.
@@lemao2222 No, my brain mis-read konjac as cognac, which gave me an opposite meaning to what you actually said. Most Ubisoft games are bland paste. But sometimes they have not washed the ingredients properly and you find a piece of dirt or stone, that makes you not want to eat. An example of this is when they added the assasins creed games to play pass, and I can play the games without buying them, they all have the same bugs in the games. Sometimes they even have more bugs. How can they make the same game as 4 years ago, but worse? Horses in Valhalla control worse than horses in Origins. Horses in modern assasins creed games control worse than in Zelda, they are worse than Shadow of The Colossus which is the game with the BEST horse. It is like their blended slop is made from stale rotten ingredients. And every new game, the ingredients are even more rotten, and leaves a bitter aftertaste.
I did that, one of my mates had to pay for a new fridge this month as his old one died, so he would have to wait until next month to get it. Little does he know, there's a BMW code waiting for him when he gets in from work tonight 👍
Oh my god no, developers are criticized because they censor opinions, fucking bootlicking Chinese company I suppose that doesn't want to talk about Covid and other things, that's what I've seen. So be careful. And furthermore the game seems to have default so I would wait to see the final quality.
Oh hey it took me two seconds to find a comment that backs up my theory. I had just commented that I think the publisher itself could be stirring this up just to bait protest purchases and boost sales, or at least get the word out louder. I did forget this game was a thing for a year, like immediately after seeing a trailer, and now I don't stop hearing about it.
4:00 Jesus, thank you. I am SO tired of reading these painfully mediocre writers trying to convince people that they're James Joyce while writing some garbage article on Otaku about a video game. Dude, deliver the information as clearly and succinctly as possible. We all learned about alliteration in grade 6 English, you're not impressing anyone by writing 3 words that start with the same letter in a row.
3:40 Bro sounds like he swallowed a thesaurus. As an amateur writer I learned a long time ago that showing off your verbose vocabulary in a publicly consumed publication is the fasted way to turn people off your writing. You want to be understandable and not boasting. The opposite of this master of literature.
@@gimmedataids None of it is difficult. To me, at least. I'm not talking about comprehension. I'm talking about not sounding pretentious. Just because you have a verbose vocabulary doesn't mean that you should strive to put as many five syllable words in your articles as you can. Take this above paragraph. I myself sound pretentious here, which is sort of intentional since I'm writing a rebuttal to an obviously biting and pointed reply so I I want to sound so. But in a gaming publication you're catering to the layman, not intellectuals and you're trying to convey a point of view not advertising your linguistical prowess. You want to be relatable and congenial. That guys entire tone and word use sounds pretentious and arrogant. Just because you've learned the meaning of all these words doesn't mean each and every one of your readers has done so as well. Simple easy to read words convey your ideas more clearly and to a larger audience. It makes you sound relatable and not like a total douche.
For a century the US has had an absolute lock on global cultural exports as a means of international soft propaganda...film, music, video games...but in recent years, and accelerating quickly, that has slipped into other parts of the world and they don't like it. Most specifically, they do not want their closest economic competitor and emerging super power, to be able to export likeable cultural stuff and that's just how it is. That's just how it is, at least a great part of it.
Exactly! They wont be able to properly gaslight kids if they don't have a monopoly on entertainment. Their only interest is to remove cultural standards that make them feel sad for one reason or another, "Merit" is one of the standards they are trying to remove so they cannot compete if there is even one developer that is interested in creating things that are true, good and beautiful.
This! Literally this! It has little to do with "woke" or "diversity" or anything of the like. It has everything to do with western market and cultural dominance, and denying China any influence in that space.
Lol China is not an emerging super power. They're on the cusp of population and therefore economic collapse, and their force projection ability is limited to their coastline.
USA: "CHINA BAD CHINA ADVERSARY CHINA THREAT" China: "bro we just chillin over here mining coal, establishin trade deals in Africa and making skyscrapers. chill dude"

2:05 Hell yeah, brother! I've been saying that for years. It's also related with the fact that they'll apologize only once public opinion has turned against them and would never do that if public opinion was on their side. So never forget, never forgive and never let them live it down.
4:00 It's written like a dramatic romance novel. The target audience is gamers, so here's my shot at rewriting it myself: Black Myth Wukong won't have you stuck on bosses for endless hours like some FromSoft games, but you'll have plenty of difficult encounters to keep you on the edge. After enough progression, you unlock new abilities such as attacks, fire magic, and turning into a stealthy cicada. These proved useful when fighting the giant werewolf atop a crumbling temple.
I'm DEFINITELY going to be getting Black Myth Wukong eventually, and all the negativity from "journalists" is one of the major reasons why. I am going to end up waiting a bit, though... mostly because my aging rig isn't going to be able to run it very effectively at the moment. Gonna end up waiting for a performance patch or two.
They knew the game was quite generic and paid for a fake "controversy" to dupe people into buying it for politics. This is probably the 10th video about the "controversy" on Asmon's clips channel. Game journos get clicks, influencers get clicks, publisher gets a few extra sales.

According to the research of scholars in the Qing Dynasty, his real name was Fan Ju 范雎, and Fan Sui 范睢 was copied incorrectly.
Bro start his revenge arc.

In this crazy era, the gaming world is a pure land. As a Chinese, I know that in recent years, the competition between the East and the West has politicized almost everything, but the group of gamers has always remained rational. We share similar aesthetics, we vote with our own money, and we know what a good game is and what a bad game is.
Just ten hours ago, domestic media released an interview with the creative team, in which the main creator YANGQI said a sentence that I like very much: "踏上取经路,比抵达灵山更重要." This translates to: "Starting on the right path is more important than reaching the destination."
The game will be unlocked soon. Although it may not be comparable to many famous works that everyone is familiar with, I still hope that everyone can enjoy the authentic Chinese culture presented by the Game Science Team.

From the result of 2952:0, we can find almost everyone can't say no. If the central government want collect money from Guangdong and spend it to Northeast, everyone in Guangdong must say yes.

Art does come from life.
Its not even a giga-chad move. You interview a game dev or a PR manager about games; they're expecting questions like mechanics and features. I wouldn't really call China an emerging super power, Their country is just as absolutely screwed as the US because of the one child policy.
They propergate a culture war to distract everyone from the real issue, the deepening financial gap between the upper and lower class.
“Controversial” has been a self-affirming gaslighting term for quite awhile now.
USA: "CHINA BAD CHINA ADVERSARY CHINA THREAT"
China: "bro we just chillin over here mining coal, establishin trade deals in Africa and making skyscrapers. chill dude"
Game Journalist seeing an action game: "ANOTHER GAME IN THE SOULS GENRE! HOW ORIGINAL"
They say, "the developer" says bad things like the developer is one person. Many people work there, and I wouldn't want to help these weirdos crash the studio even if there was a really big meany working there.
If there is harassment, help the victim with litigation. And when you know you have no evidence of anything and decide to make things up like this for your misplaced vigilante justice. Just don't.
I will 100% play a game thats good even if it was made by convicts.
I will 100% play a game thats good even if it has some woke bs.
I will 100% NOT play game based on what any fkn journalist has to say.
I will watch gameplay myself and then come to my own conclusions.
Me play gud gam, me no play bad gam, simple, journalist no play gam, journalist just talk, GRAAH

52min video on black myth, you already know this is gonna be good
It's goty material
You should check out the Chris Chan one from last night too 😳
FFS, Black Myth Wukong is not Souls Like it basically like God of war and DMC combined
At the very least, the combat looks pretty Souls, tbh.
Eh, it's like all 3 of them combined. I can see the soulsike inspiration.
I thought it was more like Nioh because of the stances
That makes me less interested tbh
or Sekiro. Basically, hack'n'slash/rythm based combat with metroidvania vibes.
The irony of complaining about diversity and then shutting down Asian representation (because I’m lumping AC: Shadows with this) is pretty staggering.
So typical. Shows its not about diversity.
28:08 tell me what you want but these few minutes are the smartest thing i have heard all year. that man keeps impressing me more and more
2:05 Hell yeah, brother! I've been saying that for years. It's also related with the fact that they'll apologize only once public opinion has turned against them and would never do that if public opinion was on their side. So never forget, never forgive and never let them live it down.
4:00 It's written like a dramatic romance novel. The target audience is gamers, so here's my shot at rewriting it myself:
Black Myth Wukong won't have you stuck on bosses for endless hours like some FromSoft games, but you'll have plenty of difficult encounters to keep you on the edge.
@@iyziejanethe publisher doesn't even know English
What the hell kind of proof do you got for such an insane theory
@@crusaderACR "insane theory" sounds like I hit a nerve, I'm just explaining the basic internet economy, anyone can see that "buy this to virtue signal about hurting the wokes" is a huge market these days. Meanwhile journos are happy to play the heel since that gets them clicks to get paid. This little ecosystem spins up all the time to give forgettable games an extra push.
When I was younger, the story of Sun Wukong in the “Journey to the West” and its world. And I love the western world gets to see how hype the story is.
It’s part of the Chinese 4 classic novels; “Journey to the West”, “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, “Water Margin”, “Dream of the Red Chamber”.
