If you are white or Asian and not LBTQ they pretty much hate you, this is just old fashioned racism, just in a direction that is different from what it used to be in America. If they treated everyone equally, it wouldn't have been a problem but imagine if Trash was a white person acting this way in the game, would everyone have treated the NPC the same way then? Just because you are different in some way then the average person does not mean you should be treated like some kind of princess.According to Smash JT, his sources from Bioware basically say something similar is going on at Bioware, with these kinds of sensitivity meetings.
DEI simply means remove straight low melanin men and add high melanin people, LGBTQ people and women. Nothing to do with accepting everyone. Notice nobody EVER asks for DEI when its majority female, LGBTQ or high melanin people. I say this specifically because in all of DEIs history "we want more diversity" never means ok add an East Asian man.
Turns out someone whose only real life dialogue options are "Try to force your opinion on him" or "Call him a buzzword insult" doesn't do a great job writing dialogue.
@@troy2223 I feel like Concord and Dustborn were actually the game industry's attempts at seeing how 'modern audiences' react if they actually DO just go all out. New IPs, new characters, new everything that has no 'toxic fanbases' that care about stupid nerdy stuff like 'lore continuity' and 'characters looking and acting like they have for three games already'. Best of all, one of them was more of a smaller, indie type game, and the other was a massive billion dollar attempt at a new MCU of gaming by a AAA studio. Both failed. That has to have the publishers panicking, and is definitely the real reason why Ubisoft the publisher delayed AC Shadows (Star Wars Outlaws was too far along and they had contracts with Disney). They're doing one of two things; either hoping to 'wait out' this current industry wide sentiment of the playerbase that hates what they're doing, OR, they are actually trying to fix things. I'm not getting my hopes up that any of these companies are picking option A, to be honest, considering after all these other flops they still put out Veilguard, and that Survivor 9 or whatever game, which flopped just as hard.
There's a lesbian companion in KOTOR you can do this with, but I always kept her because she was actually interesting and you wouldn't even know she's a lesbian unless you play a female protagonist and try to romance her.
Technically, banning for crossparticipation is against Reddit's TOS and grounds for closure of a sub. But good luck getting that enforced evenly on that hive.
This makes me so fucking happy for one reason. The absolute copium in the steam reviews. Most of the positive reviews say something along the line that the story sucked but the gameplay is fun. It's a fucking RPG, giving it a positive review when the story sucks is fucking insane.
Yeah, this game getting positives reviews in steam that amount to "writing is cringe, the rest is mid, thumbs up" helped me realize just how low some peoples standards are.
They are just not smart enough to figure out that they act like socialists and not democrats at all. And their hardcore people act like communists and live life like that. So we only have extreme leftist and radical leftist claiming to be democrats. Ofc everything conservative sounds radical right wing to them.
Lol yep and they being one person but using the word they to describe themself/selves -_- is equal to me saying "call me a they, but by they I mean demons living inside me and steering me wrong!" Type ahhh shiiih
I just want a dark fantasy that doesn't have gendered bullshit injected into it. I don't mind BG3 styled playersexual NPCs if you must have romance as a feature, but I play games to get away from this kind of shit, not dive right into it. Honestly, I wouldn't even care if it was there if it was interesting and makes sense in lore, but most of the time it isn't and doesn't.
The fact that Jason _"own the chuds"_ Schreier deleted the post where he claimed that the game was doing extremely well is just icing on Dragon Age the Deiguard cake 😅
🤣🤣 I didn't know that, amazing! I'm glad he got a couple days and a tweet to feel good about himself before he had to see Trump get the trifecta and this game flop
You know, I realized that it didnt used to be this way, with gamers genuinely hoping games would fail. At the most, you'd be apathetic or just disappointed, but you wouldn't have people actively searching for a games dwindling player numbers and laughing at it. This is the result of choosing "morals" over a games actual audience. Its become truly toxic and they have no one to blame but themselves.
@@txorimorea3869 but truly you can forgive the bad character design and even the gameplay as its not awful. Its just not deep. But with a deep story and choices that matter. Challenging players all along the way with adult themes. It could have been all that game needed to make it a huge hit. I truly think its just the writing that killed it.
The fact that a character literally self-flagellates herself for getting the they/them thing wrong by doing an exercise routine (mild but physical punishment for accidental wrongspeak not even purposely lol)
Im positive the reason they changed the way qunari look is because of Taash. They wanted self insert non binary character. So they changed an entire race
I don't necessarily think that wanting a non binary character was a reason for design change. At least not directly. Because keeping old design wouldn't really impact this "cause". By not directly, I think that someone wanted to self insert as qunari, so they made them look reBarded.
Look to be completely fair, the Qunari have been different in every single game. Origins Sten just a nordic black dude. DA2 Complete 180, ruthless looking dragon men. DA3, Similar to DA2 but a tad less rugged, DA4, the pussification continues. Seriously though the entire race has changed constantly so its a shit point.
@@NuchiAsaki Honestly yeah. I think a big part of this that content creators are glossing over is the fact that for over a decade gamers have bought up anything EA has shoved out, no matter how buggy or half ahh the product was, so they thought they could sell any slop by the truck load... This is half the gamers fault TBH for having such low standards for so long, for pre-ordering half finished games for a decade now, we trained them into thinking we were gullible and now they put out this slop that's so bad that I've seen multiple trans people play it and cringe themselves at the dialog.
@@NuchiAsaki THIS!!!! Potential buyer: *Looks at IGN review* "This game must be a masterpiece if you rate this 9/10" IGN: "Yeah we didn't play it but this game reflects our political views so you should buy it, and don't buy the new wukong game since they haven't paid us our ransom money."
An ign review by Colin Moriarty used to mean something, it was literally gospel. Now ign means little more than something a games marketing team might say l. I don't understand how they make a profit anymore.
Trash is a weird, immature and obnoxious character... She could perfectly fit the personality of one of those hyper woke "gaming journalist" that hate gamers.
It’s very interesting that the only permutation of these characters that seem possible are entitled narcissistic losers who fail at basic human interactions. There’s probably some underlying pattern there…
I am already turned off with ugly characters and ugly costume design. Then if you managed to tolerate ugly characters and design, then the story is ugly, the dialogue is ugly and the treatment of legacy characters is ugly. There is no reason for me to play the Veilguard other than finding more memes to poke fun on cringe.
I was actually considering whether I would buy this game on a bargain bin sale... And I'm still thinking it would be a waste of my time. The only thing I actually care to experience in this game are the lore threads they actually deliver on, but I can just read about them or watch the story on RUclips. Even if the game was only $5, I just can't see myself playing it. If it was some new, generic fantasy IP maybe, but there's no reason to play this game when I could be playing DAO, DAII, or even Inquisition.
I stil don'tunderstand why we even talk about this... Its a bad game, just say that we don't like it and move on. They aren't invested in the issues or problems only in the atention they can get for it. If you talk about it, even in a bad way you are just giving them what they want: pubiityand victim points... Jus ignore these instead and let natural selection of video games do its thing, otherwise we are just wasting eachothers time.
@@gaborcsuzi4504Talking about how much it sucks, let’s others know that it sucks; since “official” media reviews are now bought, or ideological, or both and generally untrustworthy now, discussing how it sucks is the only way somone who liked previous DA games will know this is nothing resembling a DA game and instead a big pile of dung. Discussion lets previous fans not get scammed by the bait and switch and saves increasingly tight money for something worthwhile, instead of finding out through a costly and terrible purchase.
Mass Effect Andromeda, Then Anthem, now Dragon Age... Three massive games in a row, three massive flops in a row. It's legitimately baffling how Bioware is still in business. I can only guess ME: Legendary Edition sold well enough to keep the lights on.

Would the Qunari even permit somebody to call themselves non-binary? Dragon Age Origins: Sten: Why are you here? Leliana: What do you mean? Sten: Women are priests, artisans, farmers or shopkeepers. None of them have any place in fighting. Leliana: I have no idea how to answer this... Sten: It is not done. There is no more to it. Leliana: Do you mean your people have no female mages or warriors? Sten: Of course not. Why would our women wish to be men? Leliana: What are you talking about? They don't wish to be men. Sten: They shouldn't. That can only lead to frustration. Leliana: Sten...no, never mind. Let's drop this.
The gay devs supplanting the entire qunari race (the design of which peaked in DA2-a game I dislike, btw, since its when the series started going into some very questionable directions) with their self-inserts is a gaming equivalent of a war crime.
The studio recently said the main reason none of the older games got any remasters over time is because not enough people in the studio even knows how to interact with the game engine. All sorts of mismanagement with this studio.
The late 90s and early 00s had the best devs. People who made games because they loved them. No surprise modern devs have no idea. They've become too corporate. The old school has moved on, and they are only the old studios by name
Same with these wannabe hippies and spiritual people. Most aggressive and mental weak people. They have no idea what a actual free bird is. Extremists are always bad
Director of Mass Effect 5 is a normal 30ish year old man i'm pretty sure. He said the executive producer, art director, creative director and himself as game director are veterans from the original trilogy. He said this on his twitter: "Lots of people asking me about Mass Effect now that the Veilguard reviews are out, and oct 31 is close. Both are from the same studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. How you bring a Sci Fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs...and has to have different kinds of love." "Regarding tone questions: Mass Effect will maintain the mature tone of the original Trilogy. This is all I'm gonna say for now." With this guy on the helm I'm cautiously optimistic about ME5.
@@FrederikSeerupNielsenstill suspicious for me ngl. Out of all the reasons to hate the game you chose the optional slider? Not the story, or the weird Mass Effect gameplay... but the optional content that's kinda been a theme of the series since DAO?
Yeah, I can't stress enough what ruined Veilguard was what it did to the Inquisition storyline. Every meaningful subplot dropped, Solas betrayal becomes a "he was kind of a good guy actually," and returning characters feel like cameos designed to gush about how awesome the new characters are. Mass Effect is doomed.
Exactly. The trespassers writing was so good! "For my world to live, yours must end." He was such a good villain in the making. He lives in a world with magic blocked by a veil he made. Where people die dont really leave you, just change into spirits. Being together with loved ones forever. Everyone in the existing world was basically not even people to him. Like a fake world where his people, instead of that utopia, once they die go to the fade and suffer in life after death. And the living elves enslaved when prior they had magical abilities on par with God's. It's still evil but you could totally see the guilt and shame he felt for not only ending his people and their world, but having to now kill millions to fix his mistake. A villain you can sympathize with. Instead they retcon that, and he was just moving the gods to a different prison, leaving the veil in place. His elf revolutionaries joining him? Abandoned the slave uprising cause god forbid we paint former slaves as bad guys. @thatbloomer5642
My favourite part is that the mother is not really hostile, angry or anything, but just confused, then tries to compare it something from her culture, so she can understand it a bit better, but ms Whiney throws a tantrum instead of explaining it.
I’m really convinced the game is a masterpiece of post-irony - there’s no way something could be designed that bad unintentionally. Imagine being the Dragon Age devs and designers, forced to create a DEI-focused shit. It feels like it's right on the edge, between making fun of DEI/LGBT and somehow being unironically embraced by them.
About Taash, that's the difference between being woke and not. BG3 contains progressive messaging, but it's not woke (in my eyes) cause it's not preaching to you and it allows you to engage with it however you want. For example, in my first run I staked Astarion, cause he was a vampire trying to bite me in the sleep. That wasn't an evil run, just a rational reaction to what was happening. DA:V would force me to apologize to the gay man for being so stingy with my blood...
That really is just the difference between a story with nuances and a story with none. Woke is a non-factor, the straight stories in DAV are just as bad, blaming it on wokeness is giving the writers too much credit.
@@None38389 This. Failing upward bad writers is what thrashes stories like this, not being woke or not. You can totally do "woke" topics if you want to, but it's going to come off as fake unless you properly integrate it with the world and contextualize it in a realistic way for that world. Cyberpunk has some incredible woke themes in it's transhumanism, but that is because of how trivial the traits are because you can just chrome up and change it. So the dividing lines becomes based on the technology / classes rather than races / sexes. But that takes some writing chops to do this cohesively. Chops many of these "professional" writers just do not have.
@@None38389 yeah, but I'm talking about that aspect. And it's not secondary, cause it permeates all of the writing, in many productions. We've all experienced in the last years the situation when a "diverse" character was in danger or supposedly evil and we thought "no way that's gonna happen" for no other reason of their identity. Many current writers are not bad and woke, they're bad because of that (self imposed nonsensical rules do not help creativity)
From what I've seen, the only thing I would consider 'woke' from BG3 is the character creator with the made up genders and pronoun options, which was sneaky since those options weren't in the beta/early access of BG3, they were inserted into the full release so no one could criticize Larian Studios before it was too late.
13:08 fun fact, that was my comment and the mods deleted it for Bigotry when asmon reviewed this on his stream. Thanks for ratting me out man xD So no, the mods haven't given up on making the subreddit an echo chamber
My comment was the one where I pointed out that their name gets autocorrected to Trash and it's still up! 250+ upvotes and slowly climbing as people find it(because the post it was on got closed)
You can tell Taash had a different writer than the other companions. Some of the others are uneven (I'd say Davrin is the only consistently well-written character in that I feel like I'm interacting with a person, though his quest is lame), but Taash's dialogue, trauma dumping, and tantrums are so far removed from the writing of any other companion that I think there was some crybaby in the dev room that they just caved to and let them have their self-insert. It's so bad. I cannot stand interacting with Taash at all; I parked her ass at the Lighthouse and haven't talked to her since.
@@vulgaritar48 At first I liked Taash. Initially she was terse, stoic, and no-nonsense. She seemed like a refreshing change from the other characters who would just dump all their feelings on you in a heartbeat... then they started turning the facet and everything became about their gender identity issues and not the fact they have dragon blood. Poor Rook is probably thinking "I am not a therapist, I am trying to kill what are effectively gods, I do not have time for this melodrama."
The dialogue is like the scenes from Invader Zim where he's in disguise trying to convince people he's human. "Hello! I am just a normal human worm baby, pay no attention to me!"
KoTOR let you be incredibly evil. I remember meeting a widow who is selling the only memento of her dead husband. You can force her to give you the memento, force her to give you everything else she has, and force her to be mute. She just stands there terrified but silent. Plus Force Choke was literally a conversation option.
@ KoTOR2 wasn’t BioWare though. Have you played Jade Empire? That was the next rpg BioWare made after KoTOR. It’s like KoTOR and DA:O but set in ancient China.
It is always best to avoid pre-orders really. Never worth it these days to pre-order a game, even if it looks good up until the last second of release. Pre-order bonuses are rarely worth the high risk of 60-70 dollar loss really.
You DO have to talk to any trans person as if theyre a child. Its not just an unflattering depiction in this game. Its reality. You cant even tell them that men cant give birth without them calling YOU a science denier. You try way too hard not to offend these people bro. They demand that you deny reality for the sake of their feelings. Its ludicrously insulting to the intelligence of mentally sound individuals.
Don't worry, Mass Effect 5 is going to be a very entertaining crash and burn, and the ME TV show from amazon is being written by Fast & Furious 9 writer, so we can laugh at that too.
Do you recall the dude at the beginning of Dead Space 2 who rescues Isaac and gets turned into a necromorph in the most visibly painful way? That's how my body reacted to this scene.
@Amadourrr But that's actually GOOD cringe. Like, holy shit that guy just turned into a monstrous abomination in front of me while I'm tied up time to RUN. However the growl scene in dragon age is the cringe that makes you close to throwing up.
Thing is in Origins; you could be negative towards the npc companions and if you do certain things they could either leave, or try and kill you. Your interactions and story choices did affect your game.
Morrigan wasn't just hot or “sexualized,” she was a wise, cunning, badass and strong woman. For me personally, this is an ideal, perfection. And such women exist in real life. When I met one, I was never able to love any other woman again. The Origins developers managed to create an outstanding and realistic character in a dark fantasy rpg, and what do we have in Vailguard? Just a random aunty, nothing special.
I can't even keep her in my party because she disapproves of pretty much all my choices, but I understand why she's the way she is and I was able to befriend and appreciate her despite our differences. That's how you write a good character.
27:10 Man, I've been seeing this sentiment going around about Metaphor with people using it as a "own the chuds" talking point and it actually makes me so mad. Like, duh, Metaphor is a JRPG, the genre with (arguably) the strongest inspirations from and ties to high fantasy literature, so of course the vast majority of the great games in this genre have explored political and social themes for decades - everything from environmentalism (FFVII) to imperialism (FFVI or FFXIV) to the fine line between patriotism and nationalism (Trails to Azure) to religious fundmentalism (Lunar 2 or Tales of Hearts) to cycles of violence (Xenoblade) to sexual/gender identity (Persona 4) to nuclear war/nuclear power (too many of them to mention, they're mostly Japanese-developed after all). THIS ISN'T NEW. And people from all over the world with all manner of cultural and political backgrounds love them. Because they have characters with identities, not identities with names and character designs. Because they take place in strange and interesting worlds that reflect our own, not in our (specifically west-coast American) world with a fantastical coat of paint. Because they explore the human condition in a way that is entertaining and thought-provoking, not in a way that is preachy and thought-terminating. Get the JRPG genre out of your mouths. You're probably the same people who made fun of fans of the genre 10+ years ago anyway.

Anyone remember when Bioware put in options to be as evil as you want? My first KOTOR1 run through as a kid I was arc lightning-ing wookies and using the Jedi mind trick to convince them to jump into a pit. Feels like Larian stole their niche in the market and they are totally out of ideas.
it's not just Larian, Owlcat made Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous where your MC is not just good/neutral/evil path but also your MC can become a lich with an undead army or become a bundle of insects with a swarm. Bioware is not the old Bioware that made DA : Origins
Both Morrigan and Alistair are iconic companion NPC's from Origins. They are both prime reasons why that RPG garnered such affection. Intricate dialogue options that you really had to think about, both of them superbly voice acted as well.
They also had some of the best banter in the series. They were mean to each other and the Warden didn't give a shit because he or she had more important things on their mind like stopping the archdemon. I can't imagine the Warden scolding them to make nice with each other. Morrigan would've told the Warden where to stick it lol.
One of my favourite lines isn't intricate at all: "Hey, look at me! I'm an elf! Trees are pretty! Tra-la-la." It comes out of nowhere and just cracked me up. I was also amused by Alistair disappearing in the Fade in a haze of confusion while yelling, "Hey, what's going on?" just as funny. 😂 But for sure I loved Morrigan and him bantering. Great stuff ❤ And Sten telling some fat kid that he doesn't need anymore cookies 🤣
Thats something I have always hated about reddit... how subreddits can just automatically ban you just for following someone or simply being vaguely associated with another subreddit they dont like...
It is a left wing liberal echo chamber. Look at the meltdown the whole app had when trump won. One of the post was about a mentally disturbed woman who deleted herself after election results. The amount of mental illness in America needs to be studied because how can people behave like this if their party didn't win.
Reddit is 💀 to me honestly since Ellen pao took over like years ago. RUclips comments section has been based, but the censorship here is off the charts.
And the mods usually don’t even need a reason to mass ban people. A free speech Warhammer 40k subreddit (r/Horusgalaxy) got targeted by at least half of the other Warhammer subreddits due to a mod having a mental breakdown and blaming the entire subreddit and they jumped on it no question. When the HG mods asked them what happened it was either an on the spot lie or spastic rambling that bears no proof. (it was a few months ago I might not remember the whole thing correctly)
They deleted my comment because no resources on one of political subbreddit just to lift it after 2 days before I put the reference. Those people that counterargument me doesn't have references to what they're saying. Truly a reddit moment lol
Next to resetera and the old woke Neogaf. And now the place the resetera people fled too "famiboards" (looks nicer at first glance, but its the same shitty ideology inside with massive censorship. Its like communist bubbles.
28:30 AS an Asian living in Asia I'm so happy to hear Asmon is trying to play more Asian games. I am a little older than Asmon. I play both Japanese games and Western games when I was a kid, C&C, Red Alert, Starcraft, Diablo II, AoE II, Half-Life etc. They were soooo great. Nowadays a lot of Western games have become a platform for forcing identity politics, which is really sad. But most of the Eastern games are still intact, in fact, a lot of Japanese game companies are even emphasizing they are "return to the root of JRPG (王道)" to gain old gamers back. That's why we are getting more and more 2000's-like vibe games from Japan. Hope one day the West can do the same and bring their glory days back.
It's been decades, and Japanese devs still can't into games. 60 FPS locks, clunky UIs, poor optimisation. Every time I pick up a Japanese game, I struggle with the most stupid things that don't have a single reason to be an issue. How do they even make their games if, judging by their UIs, mice and keyboards don't exist in Japan
sadly in my experience (and thois might not apply to all but i have seen it several times now) many asian games have a habit of forcing players to play the Meta to even be able to complete the story of the game. MMOs especially are the worst case of it :/ wich really sucks cause the games had some absolutely fantastic ideas

dialog in modern games written by people who never read a single book, they have no idea how characters should talk in fictional setting, the only reference they have is their social interaction on college campus in CA university, and the reason why they didnt read a single book is : most of the books written by straight men and women, so according to their world view everything these categories of people could possibly say is inherently wrong so its a waste of time to study it.
but you can write in gay, trans, black, blue and whatever else characters and it can work great. Baldurs Gate just proved it. Cyberpunk2077 had a well diverse cast and you could be a lady humping other ladies if you wanted. So its really not about that. Its obvious what it really is. Asmon has pointed it out so many times now its getting old. The problem is the staff there are living in a bubble as you say and they aren't seeing it. All they see is a wave of hate that must be because we are bad people out here being unreasonable. I don't know how you reach these people. Even terrible sales don't seem to teach them the lesson.
They aren’t living in a bubble. They just don’t want insiders in the industry who don’t play games. Accounts or executives to realize they are using all the lgbt and race stuff to justify laziness, mediocrity, flat out incompetence, and unprofessional behavior. Seriously you think they are in a bubble when it’s clear half their marketing team tried to bury criticism of the game. No they are actually worried about all the investors pulling the plug on lazy staff who use their identities to hide their incompetence because political correctness through funding programs justified it. Funds giving a decent guarantee money instead of risk taking on a game by just filling box’s on a spreadsheet. Now they have a very real problem of this election killing the government and financial services that kept them from being run off years ago.
It's funny, because 95% of the population hasn't read more than 7 literary books. Hell, I'm not erudite and I have read almost 10 times the books that other people claim to have read (even in my non-native language). So, unless you claim to read books regularly, which again, most haven't read a book since their last literature class, that critique falls flat.
@@jonny-b4954 You're correct; it's a single player game, and not an MMO or something, meaning people will stop playing it sooner. Now consider the fact that Black Myth Wukong still has more people playing it than Dragon Age Veilguard currently does, despite having come out three months ago.
In theatrical performances, there's a thing called "aside", it's when a character breaks away from the act and speaks to the audience. Some of these scenes, like the whole "how to apologize properly" lecture, feels like the writers were pulling an aside.
There is aside. Then there is badly written where you have no side to aside from. If you brake away from the act, and you can not tell that the act is broken? Then no. There is no aside. 4th wall brake. That is what it is called in movies/comics etc. Deadpool being a character that you expect to brake constantly, yet stays ALWAYS in character. Have watched literally propaganda that is many tiers better... If even propaganda of cartoons can avoid asides and 4th wall brakes? Excuse me. This is all a excuse of bad writing. There was no attempts at aside. There was no attempts at all. All the dialog is writing in a modern form, for a medieval magic themed game. Nope. Der Fuehrer's Face. Donald duck cartoon. Watch it every Christmas. (Swedish TV tradition)
@@TheDiner50 I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. My point is that it feels like monologues to educate the audience rather than a natural dialog between the characters, something I wouldn't expect in a game.
I am a woman in my early 20s and I despise it when previously attractive characters get dumbed down to 0 attractiveness. Seggsualizing women in video games is NOT what's dehumanizing, portraying women as something that should not be seggsualized is what's actually dehumanizing. I love being able to look at a character, man or woman, and go "They're very attractive". Making your audience feel like deviants for being attracted to a character you once made to be attractive is insulting to the fans and the franchise.
Very interesting you point this out because one thing I noticed with some of these games that pander to the left wing identity politics, is that these games make characters look completely gender neutral. None of the features that you see on the characters in dragon age allow you to clearly distinguish if this is a male or a female. It is like the game THE FINALS, where every character looks borderline female. And the thing is, sure idc whatever.. But like when you don't have options to make your character look a certain way, then it becomes just weird and bad...
@@GNatanel its to circumvent the censorship algorithm that randomly removes some people’s comments for certain word combinations or shadowbans them, how do you not know that by now?
i don't get it. why do people always use "sexualized" as a synonyme to "attractive"? you can have attractive female characters without sexualizing them. shadowheart in bg3 is also attractive without being sexualized. and i find it annoying when i see that a character is only sexualized bc of fan service and not bc it fits the character. to me that's immersion breaking.
I feel like if anyone has a mental meltdown over a presidential candidate you shouldn't be working at a video game Studio. There's many reasons I wouldn't pay into Crunchyroll these days - their business practices, them stealing fan mail sent to their voice actors etc. But still the main reason is that I can't trust their translations. And, I don't understand why anyone pays for it when we know the translations aren't truthful?

In ME 1 you had to have high Paragon, high Renegade, or completed Wrex's personal quest by the time you got to the Krogan Facility story mission if you wanted to keep him alive. A character that was important in both ME 2 and ME 3 could have died in ME 1 if you didn't have the pre-requisites completed so you could choose to save him. Even then you still made the choice.
@@gadman85 In BG1 and BG2 you could kill anyone and everyone pretty much lol. Bioware isn't that company anymore though, none of the original people are left. It's just EA parading around Bioware's corpse at this point with no one who worked on any of the good games still working there.

A friend of mine was telling me lore drops that the game had and he prefaced every one with "whoo boy this is gonna piss you off" because they obviously just care about their story and none of the others in the franchise
people think others are nitpicking a scene or two but I knew the moment I saw the first one presented there had to be at least two dozen more identical scenes just waiting to be posted for the internet at large to mock for Dragqueen Age : The Therapyguard
I've written two novels. The first is dystopian and the second utopian. They're part of a trilogy. They're truly unique, never done before, sci fi stories. I shopped them around a couple years ago and found the publishing industry is completely woke, like the game industry has gone. No publisher was concerned with story, all they wanted to know is if it was inclusive. It is, but not to the extent many were looking for. This method of thinking is the same as game publishers I bet. It's why stories aren't as good as they used to be.
For me the canary in the mine was the first gameplay trailer. When their level 1 rouge used magic, even though magic in lore is born and not learned. Even those born with magic sometimes hurt themselves while learning control. We see this in DAO mage origin.
I mean, considering how people flipped out about RDR2 where you can lasso feminist protesters and do all kinds of shenanigans, I doubt that would go over very well
Dragon Age was cooked ever since Origins. Every installment that came after it was only Dragon Age in name only. Second game was rushed mess due to EA making it their mission to ruin everything. Inquisition was the worst one as this is where Disney-fication of Dragon Age first came. There was literally Disney tier cringy song too at the end of act 1. Terrible characters that were boring at best, or downright annoying at worst. Terrible writing in general. Imagine making your big bad that one DLC villain that nobody cared for. This was also where you were first unable to be evil. Then having protagonist being treated as a joke by everyone. Veilguard is literally Inquisition and its worst aspects, but multiplied x10 times. This franchise was beyond overcooked as such for far too long. Put it out of its misery at this point.
Ironically, Dragon Age: Inquisition had Dorian, who did have to face issues from his father because he is gay, but it was well written and executed. Nothing was pushed onto you and it felt sincere.
Wasn't there one character who was a women but everyone thought she was a man cause she wanted to be like her dad and Wasn't a huge ass about it when asked?

I did say I would be surprised if they sold even 1 million copies. Seeing as they need atleast around 4 million sold to make a profit, bioware is suffering alot right now.
It’s worse than that. This isn’t a blip. It’s a pattern of failed games, meaning they were hoping to recoup ALL loses with this title. This was meant to be their Black Friday sale.
@Kyryyn_Lyyh Shadow realms, Andromeda, Anthem and now Veilgaurd. Anthem was the only one that had a shot of succeeding, but they lacked the ability to fulfill their promises and instead tried to lie like they did with veilgaurd to ensure profits. But people are quick to forgive bioware, and forget the past crap they tried to pull, simply because they loved of dragon age origins, and the mass effect trilogy. People don't want to admit to themselves that the current bioware is not the company that they loved, but one that would love if those games never existed.
I agree with you. Gameplay does not mean just combat. Stories and characters were done in a way that resembles what a game is. I still don't think people know what a game is. There used to be a genre called "Game Book". It died off and not a lot of people know of it. I read a couple of "Game Book" types years ago. Understand what the no longer exist "Game Book" genre is and play Dragon Age 1 and one will understand what makes Dragon Age Origin good. Too many people have too straightforward thinking and likes to play the blame game. Sigh....

@@AssassinGTMfirst impressions are important I guess
Solas' reveal in Trespasser is a good starting point to make such a complex villain. Too bad, they let it crash and burn.

Already disliked this woke shit in Baldurs Gate 3. Way too many NPC's talk about "their husband" whilst being male. It is disgusting!
From what I've seen, the only thing I would consider 'woke' from BG3 is the character creator with the made up genders and pronoun options, which was sneaky since those options weren't in the beta/early access of BG3, they were inserted into the full release so no one could criticize Larian Studios before it was too late.

Taash was complaining about her mother and I gave the stoic "deal with it" response. I think it shut off the entire Taash questline.
Good
You can tell Taash had a different writer than the other companions.
The Origins developers managed to create an outstanding and realistic character in a dark fantasy rpg, and what do we have in Vailguard? Just a random aunty, nothing special.

Very interesting you point this out because one thing I noticed with some of these games that pander to the left wing identity politics, is that these games make characters look completely gender neutral. terroist propaganda is done and this will soon be over period. none of the old ideology's can be allowed to exist. the left being in exitance is the problem.
There's many reasons I wouldn't pay into Crunchyroll these days - their business practices, them stealing fan mail sent to their voice actors etc.
But still the main reason is that I can't trust their translations. And, I don't understand why anyone pays for it when we know the translations aren't truthful?
remember: they bannned ANYONE in the subreddit for even thinking about talking bad about the game, and banned you even though you were excited to try it.
They do that in Asmongold's sub as well. I got banned for saying Deadlock was a sweet baby Inc game.
Typical reddit mods. It's a bad place.
thats reddit. im banned from so many subreddits i doubt it matters. even the ones where ppl say "they arent woke" u would be surprised
tbf I've checked several times, I'm not banned from any of the reddits that have been mentioned so far in this drama... so its definitely not an autoban thing.
I previous Bioware games, you COULD kill potential teammates through quest interactions, broken relationships and growing animosity.
Ah the Darkside run in kotor was heartbreaking in some parts. Having Zaalbar kill Mission to prove his life debt was rough. Its one of the few times Ive felt bad making a choice in a game.
The fact that I’ve only ever heard of these games is because on asmongold covering them speaks volumes
BioWare could not release KotOR in this day and age. There’s no way they’d let you chose Jedi or Sith as your path.
They also just couldn’t make it today. All the chefs and staff have left. Their lesser replacements lost most of the recipes and have no creativity. This is a (sinking) Ship of Theseus situation, and they are BioWare in name only. Nothing they’re cooking is edible let alone great and memorable.
glad the kotor remake was cancelled they would've butchered it
''There’s no way they’d let you chose Jedi or Sith as your path.''
Yeah you would be a non binary force user, since you dont want to be part of a group.
Then creating 10 groups. Also sith cant be evil, all are just good people who did some wrong things.
@@Feja2503 LOL a nonbinary force user who sets out to find her dad or something im sure thats what would they go with
Force-binary
0:15 remember that this number is already achieved by TAINTING a huge franchise with large player base, and they still fail massively 😂
Without the DA name, this would just be another Kotaku-tier trans-rpg that 12 people play (6 of which didn’t live long enough to review it -ACK)
This is anti-woke nonsense. The game is doing demonstrably fine. You can look up data yourself without cherry-picking times when many players are at work.
Reminder that in Baldur's Gate 3 you can kill pretty much everyone you want. Literally can shove a companion off a ship right after you are introduced to her and they are gone forever.
I've said it before that the game is less of a Fantasy game, more of an Educational game where the player is treated like a dumb student.
What point does BG3 letting you kill off companions has to do with anything? I mean most Rpgs don't let you kill off friendly characters.
@@luxnoria It gives you the freedom to not deal with characters that rub you in the wrong way.
@@Sombriage You know what else gives you freedom from that? Not playing the game. Lol.
@@luxnoriaBG3 is also considered a woke game but the wokeness is so well done that you can skip it's not shoved in your face like veilguard
"The character is an asshole unnecessarily to innocent people"
Turns out that if you are merciful upon the cruel, you will end up by being cruel to the merciful.
I have a sudden urge to delve into Warhammer now
>Xenoverse 2: 10mil copies sold
>Non-binary game: 0.5mil copies sold
Don't think DAV was sold half a mill copies 😂
you misspelled non-buynary
@@MrHehaaw He didn't count refunds, as they're still grow in numbers.
@@СергейМалышев-ю8щ Steam alone only sold like 80k at most, if we counted that as a third of total sale then the total sale was only like 240k copies. At most they would probably only sold 300k, not even half million lol.
And many DAV were refunded with GameStop refusing trade ins because of overstock
They demand blind positivity and complete loyalty to "the message" of identity politics.
But their not a Cult!
LOL! Great framing on that.
If you look at marketing strategy, it’s exactly that. Brand loyalty, dedicated fans, etc.
All cult techniques being used to sell digital slop.
A friend of mine was telling me lore drops that the game had and he prefaced every one with "whoo boy this is gonna piss you off" because they obviously just care about their story and none of the others in the franchise
Bioware should change their name to Beware to reflect their modern dev team.
Biowaste is more appropriate.
"Dangerhair"
Holyfuck. I gagged on the trash refer as them scene.
I'm just gonna let autocorrect do it things.
people think others are nitpicking a scene or two but I knew the moment I saw the first one presented there had to be at least two dozen more identical scenes just waiting to be posted for the internet at large to mock for Dragqueen Age : The Therapyguard
All this winning going on I don't know what to do with myself.
Right?!
Did he not promise us that??
For me the canary in the mine was the first gameplay trailer. When their level 1 rouge used magic, even though magic in lore is born and not learned. Even those born with magic sometimes hurt themselves while learning control. We see this in DAO mage origin.
True. Combat is flashy yeah, but rogues and warriors aren’t supposed to be magical superheroes. It’s just a fail on all fronts
What do you expect from people who think canon doesn't matter, unless a character is gay or Black. Then canon is absolute lol.
Imagine having a "Dead Naming Quest" for Taash where you figure out his name at birth so you can use that and it would be an "evil" option.
I mean, considering how people flipped out about RDR2 where you can lasso feminist protesters and do all kinds of shenanigans, I doubt that would go over very well
@@carlwinslow8165and this is going over very well?
i'd actually buy the game specifically to deadname taash
@@wontonschannel The Trash Taash DLC
Wrong. It was pushed. People just weren't aware they were being manipulated yet. Now we can smell woke propaganda a mile away.
Honestly was probably one of the best characters in that game too
Actually inclusive writing that didn't over power the rest of the game
@weye-c3c I hated him too but it wasn't forced into my face that I had to cater to him or whatever so still enjoyed the rest of the game
Wasn't there one character who was a women but everyone thought she was a man cause she wanted to be like her dad and Wasn't a huge ass about it when asked?

How fitting!
"Game that did evil options"
Shows Andy and Leiley and BG3
Planescape Torment: Amateurs!
People confuse "gameplay" with "combat", in role play or narrative focus games like Bioware's, stories and characters are part of the "gameplay"
Sigh....
