This is how I felt about destiny's story the last few years. "There's the massive galaxy threatening force coming to kill us all, now listen to these two old men talk about their feelings for each other for 10 minutes, and no you can't skip it" 😂
Hey Asmon, I have a bit of possibly controversial news for you. I'm a game dev of 16 years with titles like DayZ, Kingdom Come Deliverance and Dying Light 2 in my portfolio and I used the recent Skill Up review and the points he was making in it to write a LinkedIn post about quality of writing in contemporary AAA games using Dragon Age Veilguard as an example, all in a very professional respectful manner ofc. Guess what happened? My linkedin profile got blocked and I'm now waiting for their team to hopefully reinstate it. I went to Bioware official RUclips channel to tell them to stop using trolls to deplatfrom veteran devs from linkedin and ofc they blocked me there too and now I can't find their official RUclips channel at all while signed in to this RUclips account. Maybe it's time to start talking about their really shady practices to your huge audience.
Update: my linkedin profile got restored about 12 hrs after this incident, so when I regained access to it, I went to check the statistics of my post about the quality of writing in recent AAA games including Dragon Age Veilguard and what I found there made a lot of sense. Just for context in case people don't know this, if you have the paid "pro" account, which I do have, you get to see detailed stats of each post you make once it crosses a certain number of views and this post the morning I checked it before getting blocked already had some 8.6K views, so it did have the detailed stats. Anyway, the moment I regained access to my account I checked the stats and turns out that the biggest group of readers of my post were from EA. It was 2% which sounds small but no other post I made before, even if it had a higher number of views, ever had one company represented by over 1%. In absolute numbers this means that about 170 people that saw my post were from EA and I'm quite sure that is more than enough to mass report and get someone blocked on LinkedIn. I can prove all this with screenshots of both the email about my account getting blocked by linked and screenshot of the statistics of the post right after I got unblocked by their community team.
Or “Yeah this game is shit and not worth my/your money and it’s littered with pandering that muddied the story and has a generic gameplay BUT my peers might ostracize me for being negative. 8/10” 😅
Or the narrative is really good, the combat is decent, the ending is the best in years and the companions are great. But it's not origins which dragon age hasn't been since it came out.
Some were even "Yeah so I as a trans person feel so validated and seen, therefor the writing is the best there ever is." Why do they let the identity politics police write fanfiction for 0.1% of the population.
You have two distinct Biowares and understanding the timelines is key: 1. OG Bioware who made Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, KOTR, ME Trilogy, etc. Absolute classics, and gaming masterpieces that advanced the RPG genre, more than 99% of the gaming industry. Despite their flaws, these were crucial games in the genre and will forever hold a special place in many people's hearts 2. Modern Bioware: . The last two founders left in 2012, . Lead writers and key contributors started exiting in 2014, including: . Casey Hudson, the creator of the Mass Effect series, left in May 2014 . Dragon Age's writer David Gaider left BioWare in January 2016 . Chris Wynn and Chris Schlerf, key contributors for Andromeda, left in 2015 (2 years before release) . Mike Laidlaw, Creative Director for Dragon Age leaves in October 2017 after 14 years with the company . James Ohlen, the lead designer of the Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, and Dragon Age: Origins, as well as the game director of The Old Republic MMO, left the studio after 22 years in July 2018) This is just to name some of the key contributors, hundreds of writers, and developers left during this time as well. And everything published since then has been completely demolished by corporate interest and tasteless creatives who clearly cannot fill the shoes of their previous colleagues and have been able to completely nuke an entire studio and their legacy
None of what you stated ACTUALLY matters, the single cause of the companies entire change was when it was purchased by ea who's major shareholders are BlackRock and vanguard which are small hat financial conglomerates. Watch Europa the last battle for more information on why every media source that they have a controlling share in turns "woke" and ignores it's core audience. Good luck.
Sadly this is the trend of today's corporate world where gaming is now another investment vehicle for people who have never played video games and a way for them to insert political messaging.
@@martinivanov1319 Unfortunately, this is true. There is nothing else: no inspiring ideas, no creative people, no brilliant mechanics, just old names of once great studios.
One of the high reviews said that whether your a mage, warrior or rogue, combat is not really affected. Thats an absurd statement for something we are going to call an RPG.
One of the 100 reviews said that different companions allow you to different special environmental things, but no worries if that companions not with you as youll have a device to allow you to do it anyway.
Because the focus of this wasn't combat or story. It was "rEpReSeNtAtiOn." This game is Dustoborn with a AAA budget. Good luck to anyone that bought this.
What I've been saying for a long time now. Inclusivity is fine, but when you become so inclusive that you inevitably become exclusive, that's when it becomes a problem.
Dragon Age Inquisition is what did it for me, even though DA2 and ME3 showed some signs, I wasn't too involved at the time. DAI showed clear signs of development being directed to what was trendy/was thought to make money at the time instead of making the next great Dragon Age game. I've never bought anything from Bioware since then, and so far it has been the correct choice lol.
@@Vaios7GWhat was wrong with DA:I? That was my first DA game and it was enjoyable. It really goes to show the divisiveness gamers have all because of a previous entry they compare to. Which is understandable, but because DA:I was my first, I thought it was okay at best. Edit: I did see you said they changed it to be trendy and what would sell for that time, but I enjoyed the combat system the most.
@@Andy_Paris DAI wasn't a terrible game, I did, in fact, enjoy it, but it showed clear signs of confusion on what kind of game they wanted to develop. The mission table was such a bizarre addition to a series which focused heavily on story and companions, when the obvious way to go about it would've been for those missions to be actual characters and quests in the humongous world they created. The maps became huge, but they had little substance, or were filled with pointless fetch, MMO-like quests. This was unlike the other two games in the series, and Skyrim's success a few years before probably influenced this decision, despite DA series being a different type of RPG compared to Skyrim. Enemies in the world respawned. The best materials for your crafted gear (Fade-Touched) had a chance to drop, so you had to grind for them. That's a logic that fits in MMO games, but kinda weird for a single player, story-driven game. There's more examples, but lack of clear vision is what I would describe Bioware as of late, and information that came out on the development of Andromeda and Anthem lend to this assessment in my opinion. Counter examples of games from developers that have a clear vision of what type of game they're making would be Larian or FromSoftware. I'm not saying they're perfect games, but when you play games like Baldur's Gate 3 or Elden Ring, you get the overwhelming sense that they were developed they way they did because that's what was envisioned by the developers, not because a corporate directive said they need to have these specific features, because that's what sells at the moment.
Have you maybe concidered that the permanently online crowd like yourselves and asmon are just weird by focussing on a small aspect on a game that is good? No? Okay continue the anti-woke hurr duurrr
Don't ever treat ideas like sports teams. Remove the emotion. Remove the constant drive in the mind to find community to be around those you accept and those that accept you. Yeah, it is comfortable to be part of a group that accepts each other based on simple ideas that anyone can write about, showing support for the group and feeling part of it. Don't do that. Instead, think logically. Never abandon logic to fit in. IS what you wrote enough said? No, it's not. As we both know, in situations where there are two sides of an emotional drama featuring two mobs going at it with various figureheads spiking the drama higher at any chance, you always have people putting in fake 1/10 reviews and fake 10/10 reviews without having even played the game. Less worse, you also have some who have played the game, but they transform their actual score into a 1/10 or 10/10 due to their emotions. Stay logical and stay out of mobs of emotion. Your post isn't a good line of reasoning... clearly. And I'm saying that as a person who has consumed the same drama videos here as you -- someone who generally SUSPECTS the game might feel like an HR meeting with sterile writing. I'm still fair though. I SUSPECT the game will not be good due to unrealistic, sterile writing. However, I'm not going to CONCLUDE it is bad based on the opinions of figureheads who benefit from sensationalism. And I'm going to take individual reviews for either side with a grain of salt, because many of them are written by people belonging to one of the two emotional mobs. Value your own perception. Wait until you've played the game or at least seen someone else play the game before thinking out what you believe the quality of the entire game is. And actually play/watch hours of the game. Don't watch a couple of the lamest moments in the writing, extrapolating that the entire game must be that constantly throughout.

Im sorry but the idea of 2015 trans tumblr sh*t in a medieval fantasy setting sounds genuinely hilarious, this game is a south park bit come to life lmfao
Do you know trans characters were in Dragon Age 1 that came out in 2009 do you? In one of the best RPGs ever :D Tell me you don't know anything about the universe without telling me you don't know anything about the universe.
Here is a direct quote from Skillup's review: "The writing is, frankly, terminal. It lacks any nuance, wit or wisdom. It cannot communicate ideas, except to say them aloud to the camera. It manufactures petty, unbelievable tension because it doesn't know how to create anything more real, and it's too scared to ever be truly confronting or dark for fear that it might make the audience uncomfortable. Every interaction between the companions feels like HR is in the room, and every interaction led by the main character Rook sounds like he's addressing an under-12 soccer team before a semi-final or teaching toddlers to properly share toys."
Frankly his review was the most articulate one i've seen about Veilguard. Everyone else seems vague, but his explanations and examples created such a vivid image in my head, i just subbed to him then. Glad im skipping the game.
@@janglalgoupiak1891 Wukong is by all means not a perfect game. I'd give it an 8.0 with proper analysis of the game if you take into account the biggest flaws it has BUT them giving it 6/10 and dragon age 10/10 is simply outrageous loooooool
So Eurogamer is telling me, this thing is equal or better to Baldur's gate 3? Have they completely turned to AI generated content? I think most human propagandist can generate somewhat more believable propaganda than this.
TotalBiscuit led the charge against devs gatekeeping access to media that gave bad reviews. I feel like his passing was a turning point that left consumers at the mercy of all sorts of bad behaviors. RIP TB, you are missed now, more than ever before.
TB was **THE** consumer advocate of the gamedev industry. He routinely went out of his way to call out anti-consumer behaviour and give publicity to scandals most industry giants would love swept under the rug. Sadly, after his passing, no major figure stepped up to fill that void. And so we end up with the gradual descent into more and more ridiculous behaviours.
Total Biscuit was my fave non-reviewer. (they were impressions 😛) I think the closest thing is Synthetic Man. He is as cynical as that guy but not as obsessed with indie pc games. We need more realistic reviewers who are not just on youtube for the money or clicks but actually see the videos as hobby on the side. A lot of youtuber who make all their income from youtube, tend to compromise their views once they get really famous and they are afraid of their subscriber count dropping if they say something that isn't popular opinion.
@@jesperjohansson9857 it REALLY didn't , but you are right. The globalists who use marxist lies have been infiltrating free enterprises from at least the 90s

@@BehindTheMatrixSo people are paying for an interactive movie. Kinda cool if that's what you're looking for. Me, I want a fun challenging combat system that puts an emphasis on making a good build. Tired of seeing Dark Fantasy get destroyed by these weirdo's. I didn't even mind Dragon Age inquisition despite it's obvious flaws but Veilguard seems like it's trying to appeal to a far smaller audience rather than to DA fans or even Baldur's Gate fans. Bioware disappointed me with Andromeda and Anthem I no longer care what happens to this company or the employees there.
DA:I was more heroic fantasy and I liked it because the story still felt like Dragon Age and Trespasser really set my hopes high. Veilguard? Feels like it’s Woke Fantasy? Which is a way too far from the original dark fantasy to be considered from the same universe, and considering they dropped Solas for two random bad guy-bad guys is a joke in itself. All that to say I agree with you lol
Under any other circumstances, I'd be inclined to agree with you. In this case, however, I believe they were simply too incompetent to do anything besides generic Pixar-style characters. I mean, look at these things!
The fact that every single character feels like a dei check box is so annoying. So when the gameplay sucks, the story sucks and the visual sucks it just shows where the priorities are Btw welcome back man. Gaming space wasn’t the same without ya
This is the same argument I had on reddit with the Isabella changes. If they are so worried about making a woman look manly and flat chested instead of her da2 look then you see where their priorities lie. If chest size doesn't matter for their game why did they on purpose change her? It is so obvious that d.e.i. is the focus of veilguard. This reeks of sweet baby.
@ 100%, but it’s so clearly a must have when developing the game now. They pretty much said “okay we need 1 black character, one handicapped person, we non binary character; that’s got to be worth at least our gay/ lesbian/ trans slot, we got dwarfs covered, we have to put a dashing rouge like bisexual character and oneeeeeee Asian.” Non of which would be an issue if it wasn’t the main objective of the game. BioWare has forgotten they make games. If the game was good none of the above would matter
Meanwhile a JRPG that is all about unison of all races/tribes: Kill characters left and right, sometimes in brutal ways, straight up acknowledge that there will be frictions when trying to be inclusive, drop nightmarish eldritch horror in combat, bad guy is literally Griffith, hot chicks and dudes and old men in the party, etc… I’ve been saying this for a while, but how the fuck is Japan doing inclusivity better than the west?
@@KhangNguyen-ij4xh Because inclusivity and diversity were never the real issue. Its propagandizing and pandering that annoy the hell out of people. Western studios hired too many activists and too few writers, so we get propaganda instead of entertainment from them.
@@KhangNguyen-ij4xh They always did it, that is the key difference. There are a lot of ancient anime's that already had these facits of characters. Hell even japanese folklore is far more "inclusive" than what is now called by that name. I remember the intense meat riding that occurred anytime someone dared criticise starfield for the first few weeks, thinking back on it that shit was crazy. Anyways which triple A do you guys think is worse? It was starfield for me but veilguard is some tough competition.
This was the exact thing I was feeling about them. The Qunari are a people who belong to an absolute Fascist Theology. That's more important than them having horns. It's what makes them Qunari. You can have fringe members that don't believe in the Qun properly but you have to remember that those are outcasts from the society and extremely small in number. Even Iron Bull was pushing it in Inquisition. But he had the excuse of being conditioned to serve as a spy in the area so he was essentially the Qun's idea of what a "normal" person is.
I hate how the party members have been erased from combat. They dont participate or have health or use abilities. They are just extra ability slots. Its like they took the MMO version, and instead of incorporating the party based system of DA, said F it lets just make them ability slots. Remember freezing enemies then shield smashing them? Felt good.
Being able to script your party to do different things on their own, based on the situation at hand was fuckin amazing. They watered it down badly for Inquisition... And I'd bet it's almost, if not a completely gutted mechanic now.
@@abduljabars And even with how gutted Inquisition was, people that spent a lot of time figuring out how the AI works ultimately managed to still come up with essentially Companion Setups that would let them essentially 3-man an entire Nightmare + Challenges Playthrough on their own. But getting rid of ALL of it? Bro, these Developers weren't cooking on a grill or using the oven, they fucking full sent this Game in a microwave for 10 years.
Exactly, nightmare in inquisition meant you had to think and figure things out. This new version you're basically playing a generic ARPG. Even Atreus was more helpful!
It's so funny when a recent free gacha game which three capital letters imply sleeping have much better combat gameplay and party abilities than Veilguard despite being designed mostly for the mobile market.

You can’t trust large streamers that stream video games too. One good example is Brian Menard. Bro gets paid to shill to his audience but hides it very well.
Basically everyone that looks at the gaming community or just a singular game on the surface level, with normal lives that don’t want to spend time looking into a game, and just want the number out of 10 that reviewers give.
They're about as trustworthy as most YT " let's stick to a certain bandwagon narrative to get more views" reviews at this point. Yet doing the rounds on YT, it seems a fair number of gamers love doing this without a second thought.
That's not the issue, its just dog shit. Larian wrote a woke game and it was widely accepted, so did CDPR with CP2077. It's the people in charge of these projects that are creatively bankrupt because they got to their position through being the most diverse individual. Look at the creative director of Failguard and you would've known from day 1 it was going to be trash. People making executive decisions when they lack the skill to do so is the problem. I so hope BioWare collapses due to this though.
The difference with larian and CDPR with those games is that the woke part wasn’t forced into a genre it didn’t fit into already. Weird, androgynous society in the future? Sure, more likely than not probably. BG3 it also wasn’t heavy handed or forced. I don’t care if it’s there, I care if it’s forced into the game for no reason other than to be there. That’s what this feels like. The irony is that this is also the biggest news about the game, which tells me the game is shit if this is all people are talking about. I don’t see anyone saying “hey, it’s woke but the gameplay and story are so good otherwise you really need to give it a try.” A bad game is a bad game whether it’s woke or not.
"Woke" isn't a valid criticism, sorry. The game just looks boring, unispired and overall, safe. They didn't take any risk, these people "learned" that this is the right way do things. It is why old games have charachter and authorship. Now, AAA game are technically good, but they lack a distinctive personality and setting.
@@no_harm AAA aren't technically good either, when they cannot consistently release games bug and performance issue free. Game is a story driven game, without a good story it's still dog shit if the gameplay is good.

He is a pretty genuine dude and will both admit when he is wrong and when his mind has changed on something.
I hope he doesn't fold to manufactured backlash, access journalism need to end, I would rather have genuine but very late review than day 1 propaganda.
Matty liked CP77 on launch and game was buggiest & glitchest. I don't trust him nor ACG. And ACG praised Dead rising remaster with ignoring heavy censorship.
And 90% of the other reviewers and "gaming" journos. You check and most of them are just more of the same weird bunch, they are here for politics and bs in our games, not the game itself.
Nah, just screech at that it for being ist/phobe for attacking the minority characters and shame it into being publicly canceled until no hero wants to be associated with having dealt with it.
@@bdanbauer6048 Bruh, have you seen the gameplay footage and release trailer, it doesn't take someone with a functioning brain to know how bad it looks. Granted, I don't think you have that kind of mental capacity.
saying Skill Up was critical is an understatement. I've watched him for years, and I don't think I have ever seen him hate a game like this. he seemed to truly regret ever even playing this game.
He talked about basically being over it something like 20 hours in out of 50 and saying he would not get that time back. He did not talk about game-breaking bugs or major technical issues, so his thoughts were basically entirely on the content of the game - gameplay, characters, story, dialogue, etc.
It's amusing because he's sometimes referred to as "Shill Up" and his comment about how the characters talk "like HR is in the room" really goes to show just how bad woke tropes are becoming if someone like him recognizes it indirectly despite how hard he tried to avoid its prominence in his review. I'm waiting for the moment where Angry Joe finally acknowledges it as well rather than pretending that nothing is wrong, that the game sucks for mostly other reasons, as if it all doesn't culminate into a failure of a product equally. But I think he's stubborn, and he and his friends would never want for the community to be correct the whole time while he was wrong.
The only thing preventing access journalism has been the cost of maintaining records that can be relied upon. Now that an executive at EA can prompt an LLM to "show me a list of social media content creators who's reviews were less than positive" and within seconds they can make a reliably informed decision about who gets codes, and who doesn't... those barriers are gone.

This is a franchise that has been followed for over a decade...the switch up in the style and feel of the world and the characters is jarring for DA fans
Its the fate of all game developers once they go public, it's not a matter of if but when it happens. Never go public with a game development company. The best companies are all private. You know why Arizona iced tea cans are 99 cents for past 20-30 years? Cause there a private company. Indies make a lot of slop but they also make gems because they are privately owned so can take risks.
It has to be noted too that Luke Stephens and Fextra at least are pretty non political in their reviews they were critical of literally only the gameplay and game choices, not any “culture war” stuff so if that is the reason they were not given review copies, that would be very telling. Typically the excuse when a game is more “woke” that they give is that they only want the game judged on merits not themes. And yet… I wonder if they’re choosing to interpret disliking the choice in character design as something
Every single opinion, objection or thought that deviates from the "party line" is treason. That is why they default to "-ists and -phobes" hate the "current thing" whenever someone points out any problem with the game.
I'd go one step further and say they avoid it like the Plauge they will ignore the Elephant you put in the room with them as they walk around it just so you'll give them a review copy and even they didn't get one.
I'd imagine EA's goal with this was to just minimise any and all negativity surrounding the game at launch. They could probably see from a mile away that the game was a dud and would flop, but since they've invested so much money into it they decided to rig the reviews to make as much money as possible from the game, before actual players get their hands on it and people see what the game is really like without journo influence tainting the experience.
It's kind of ridiculous how in earlier games you were always addressed as "Grey Warden" or "Shepard" (from Mass Effect), so pronouns weren't really needed. This is a step backwards.
Its also called chasing very young teens E for Everyone audience. Games aren't made for adults. I'm fine with kids games being sensitive but I'm an adult.

Bioware literally did not consider what kind of personality or moral outlook would it take for someone to WILLINGLY raise the dead to serve them, or the kind of disregard for life that would lead to.
To be fair, the idea is actually quiet creative, cool and decently executed...but designed to appeal to children. Like... this charakter would be very cool, if he was a gentleman but it was still clear that necromancy is quiet a grim, serious thing... about raising rotten bodies and disturbing the peace of the dead and not about some cutesy wutsy lil skeleton with twinkly gems for eyes. That's not true. As long as you have pre-ordered a copy, you're allowed to review it. The game isn't even released yet, but there is already reviews posted.
That happened with concord on ps5 too. About 12k players had given it 5 stars yet the trophy for 'get your first kill' was only achieved by 900 players. Make it make sense.
Almost to the end, one thing I didn't see mentioned is the frightening number of reviews that use "return to form" verbatim. It's more than just giving free stuff, these people are clearly given prompts of what they want the reviews to say. Or at least keywords they want them to use.
@@imanrique8999 Yeah, I know, and if it was anyone other than IGN I'd say it's a clever joke. The headline of their review is "If this is the last Dragon Age", so they know this will kill the IP and they don't care, they got the money. It's almost impressive how remorseless they are.
So.....they have a non binary writer who wrote the character. So...is it your take that isn't allowed in games? Could be interesting given the win dictates everything about how you have to live and the character left the qun and is free to make choices. Is that going to be bad? We shall see. But it seems to fit the world tbh.
As a dad, husband and a sole bread winner of the fam, I need demos to come back. This is a 50+ hour game. Give me the first 5 hours. Prove to me the game is not bad.
I think that’s the only true solution to the access journalism issue. Make the access for everyone. That way 50 RUclipsrs can’t bury your game pre-launch (if it’s a good game) or sell a junk game to millions of potential customers (if it’s a bad game).
I agree, but they would never give us that much. They know the static saying people decide in the first 2 hours, so they'll only ever give us the best first 30 minutes, often on a timer. I honestly think the first 10% of the game, no matter how long it is, is what we need to make an informed decision and not a gamble
At 18:40 or so, there's a name for that phenomenon. It's Goodhart's Law. Any metric used as an indicator of success is unreliable. Games companies start realizing that their success relies on people seeing good reviews of their games leading to launch, so they start restricting who is allowed to review the game prior to launch. Same thing happens with schools whose funding relies on grade averages. They start teaching students how to pass the tests, not how to learn new information in a meaningful way. Get out of high school and try using the skills or information they "taught" you, and most people find they can't.

Let's put it this way, the more they buy praising reviews the less likely people will have an unbiased impression of the game because let's face it, it's pure desperation. An attempt to per-emptively patch over their mediocrity hoping that at the very least, customers will have at least bought the game. I wouldn't be sorry for judging a game without playing it, not after this because I can't trust these companies in the first place. I mentioned Pathfinder because the system is the best out of all of these RPGs, the second game can be replayed many times over because you can choose a mythic path that changes the game with each playthrough.
Up.
Hope more people upvote dude!

You have two distinct Biowares and understanding the timelines is key:
1. OG Bioware who made Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, KOTR, ME Trilogy, etc. Absolute classics, and gaming masterpieces that advanced the RPG genre, more than 99% of the gaming industry. Despite their flaws, these were crucial games in the genre and will forever hold a special place in many people's hearts
2. Modern Bioware:
. The last two founders left in 2012,
. Lead writers and key contributors started exiting in 2014, including:
. Casey Hudson, the creator of the Mass Effect series, left in May 2014
. Dragon Age's writer David Gaider left BioWare in January 2016
. Chris Wynn and Chris Schlerf, key contributors for Andromeda, left in 2015 (2 years before release)
. Mike Laidlaw, Creative Director for Dragon Age leaves in October 2017 after 14 years with the company
. James Ohlen, the lead designer of the Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, and Dragon Age: Origins, as well as the game director of The Old Republic MMO, left the studio after 22 years in July 2018)
This is just to name some of the key contributors, hundreds of writers, and developers left during this time as well.
And everything published since then has been completely demolished by corporate interest and tasteless creatives who clearly cannot fill the shoes of their previous colleagues and have been able to completely nuke an entire studio and their legacy

This is the same argument I had on reddit with the Isabella changes. If they are so worried about making a woman look manly and flat chested instead of her da2 look then you see where their priorities lie.

If the game is soo woke that even Skillup gave it a bad review, you know it has to be hot garbage…
When even ShillUp isn't shilling, you KNOW it's bad....

Its the fate of all game developers once they go public, it's not a matter of if but when it happens. Never go public with a game development company. The best companies are all private. Indies make a lot of slop but they also make gems because they are privately owned so can take risks.
The gameplay literally went from rpg seemingly into hack-n-slash with rpg elements, except it isn't even a good hack-n-slash

Watch the Skill Up review for a brutally honest review of this game.
...and he didn't even talk about the heavy handed political activism in the game.
@@fredrikhultman557I guess that's another issue on top of the ones he outlined
True, he's the goat, i remember i thought ff16 is fucking garbage and only tasteless morons would enjoy it but felt like a psycho because everyone was glazing it (because of gay character, maybe?), yet he is like the only one with somewhat big channel who had a good opinion on it
@@fredrikhultman557 He kinda did indirectly. The story being 'safe' and the dialogue sounding like HR talk is because of politically correct writers being favoured over skilled ones.
@@Sunshinusff16 was good, what are you on about? And who was gay?
Why are anyone suprised after what happened with concord? They probably spent tens of millions extra at drumming up positive vibes before release. The 7/10 package isn't good enough, gotta pay for the 9/10 package now.
Dude this looks way the fuck worse. It's honestly making me question if this or starfield might be the worse games in recent memory, at the very least out of triple a. If you call that cringeworthy kindergarten level writing a 7 out of 10 I really don't know what you tell you.
"10/10 said the reviewer, happy with the big numbers in their bank account."
"Thank you Big Daddy Corpo!"
I am sure all the 10 world wide players who loved Dustborn and Concord are gonna love this one too.
Dustbin game of the year for sure
Concord wasn't bad because politics it was just a really shit game that came out at the wrong time with incredibly outdated mechanics when compared to hero shooters from a decade ago. Political messaging was just a cherry on the cake.
@chillociraptor5007 Nice try friend, but when the clowns in charge are neck deep in the "we must teach the players a lesson" mode that stuff ends up infecting the gameplay too.
@@chillociraptor5007No.
@@SammEater outside of the character roster there is nothing in the gameplay itself that is indicative of political virtue signaling. Reviewers who don't give a damn about wokeness said it was shit because it was just straight up shit. Poltical messaging was a rotten egg on top of an already dog shit cake. Though, you are right that this woke nonsense in our games needs to boot. I don't mind it if it isn't affecting the experience, but if its shoehorned in a way that hurts the core game then it should go. Dragon age is shit because its combat sucks, its story sucks, its dialogue and characters suck, AND its got that woke dogma on top.
It took me 30 mins to make a slightly normal looking white male, game didn't not want me making a character i can identify with
Finally my opinion has arrived
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Any game where the gameplay is you spamming flashy moves while enemies just stand around and maybe hit you once every 10 seconds is dog shit
Yep, especially in 2024
Devil May Cry 🌝
@@shmekelfreckles8157 only on lower difficulty levels do the enemies "just stand around" in most if not all DMC games I have ever played. Not defending Dragon Age or anything just stating my experience with the 4 or 5 DMC games I have played and beat on the highest difficulties.
obviously after having played Dragon's Dogma every other combat system will look like ass
40 year old gamer here. The last game I bought brand new was Cyberpunk 2077. Learned my lesson. I will never buy a brand new game, i will wait a minimum of 6 months to do so.
That game was pretty good a month after launch. That's when I got it....
It never should have been on PS4.
If you play it today, you might enjoy it. Some games though you can pick up on release, just not most. LMAO
Same
@@jay-sin-tv Yep, zero regrets on any money I've spent on Elden Ring or Space Marine 2 the last 2 years.
My last brand new was RDR2. 10/10 will buy the next rockstar game on day one
I've seen all I needed to see from the few clips released, I've no need to waste what little free time I have to give the benefit of a doubt to an already sinking ship hoping that it's was in fact fine just because someone who got served a free ride on the ship said it's fine.
"Maybe Twitch will ban me then... for SELF-HARM."
I legit laughed out loud.
yeah, that was really funny
Playing Drag Queen Age is definitely a form of self harm.
This is hilarious. The game got a 9 from the same exact IGN guy who gave Baldurs Gate 3 a 9. They clearly have his balls in a vice or abducted his family.
Or he’s a crap reviewer.
Probably just too scared to rate BG3 a 7.
I wouldn't assume he has balls.
They're literally mocking us. They're only after that guaranteed Blackrock money. They don't care about their fans like at all. The reason why they need Blackrock money, is because they ruined their studio first and now they depend on them.
Beholding such words as 'non-binary' within the game’s tale was all that I needed to see; this folly shall surely be yet another pyre of refuse.
Hither twice!
I don't think you'll like bg3 then
@mohammedyusuf1590 outside of not limiting the player in the options on who they wish to romance, how in any way does BG3 focus it's identity around non-binary politics and gender inclusion hand holding?
@@mohammedyusuf1590 Verily, good sir, I hath partaken in the playing of 'Baldur's Gate 3', finding delight in the gameplay and tale that, in sooth, did seem most natural to the realm of fantasy and true to its forerunner. Veilguard (read it thus: Failguard) doth strike me as naught but a slothful pretext to introduce/maintain an *agenda* to/on a renowned franchise, a practice that hath been oft accepted of late.
@@Daki25 Yay verily! I like the cut of your jib stranger 😂
im very sad about this... i have like 1k hours played on Origins, the game that made me love RPGS, and thanks to that game im now having a blast playing BG3 and WH40k Rogue Trader, but this fcking game will end a massive world full of games, books, novels, comics, series and some movies... all the time i spent in high school on this franchise will be erased by some idiots...
When this game releases, i will be in mourning
Me too. Actually I did cry when the first trailer came out. I knew it was going this route and the startling realization that all the theorizing I've spent over a decade of my life doing is all pointless and wasted. All the time I spent consuming the additional content like the books and movies. My favorite game franchise is in shambles and I couldn't help but shed a tear over it. Especially because DA2 and Inquisition were basically all set up games for this... the epic finale and they dropped the ball by pandering to people who never cared about the series or it's lore in the first place.
I you like Rogue Trader, I recommend the Pathfinder games, also made by Owlcat Games.
@@TheReaLcatniP thanks, i have a bunch of games on my waiting list, Pillars of eterninty, Tirany, Divinity, and some strategy games like Total Warhammer and the XCOM saga, im just sad that DA devolved like this
@@bladeck99 It saddens me too, I loved Origins and even liked DA2 but I couldn't play Inquisition for more than a couple of hours before I got bored with it. I wouldn't say I had high hopes for Veilguard but this is really bad, Dragon Age is dead. You have a great list there, I've played them all although I didn't play Total War that much. XCOM is a blast, Pillars is amazing, Divinity 2 is better than the first but I have hundreds of hours on both and Tyranny is a neat little game, very focused on consequences for your choices. I mentioned Pathfinder because the system is the best out of all of these RPGs, the second game can be replayed many times over because you can choose a mythic path that changes the game with each playthrough. You're in for quite a few treats with that list !
When I saw even skill up was trashing it, I knew things were really bad
To be fair, Skillup is critical 8n his reviews when he needs to be. I would be more surprised if it came from a shill like ign
I lost all respect for this guy when he apologized for giving a take about something. This is the same guy that goes on and on and preaches about never saying sorry.
1.Don't watch reviews.
2. Never pre-order.
3. Watch post-release playthrough pure gameplay WITHOUT commentary.
4. Buy if you like what you see.
same brother, same. but i lost hope. i mostly pirate and if its good, i buy and do 100% achivements 😅

this is the way. There are channels that do 4k playthroughs and some with HDR (Pineapple Express).
Perfect for skeptics and Brokies such as myself.
It's amazing how so many people still don't do this, if you see a studio constantly astroturfing a game and all they show are cinematic trailers and 'amazing' shots of procedural terrain it's probably going to be an unfinished mess, one thing I will give streamers and the like they are doing a service compared to reviewers just by showing the gameplay properly
We are living through the greatest mental health crisis in world history and BioWare thought it would be a good idea to celebrate it in their game.

Meanwhile, Monster Hunter is letting all the ps plus subscribers play the game early as a beta and make their own judgements.
Yeah, and it runs horribly
@shmekelfreckles8157 oh absolutely. Especially the performance mode. But at least we're able to see it for ourselves. I'm willing to see what updates they do to the beta.
I feel like this is BioWares last chance. If this game flops then they are next on the chopping block and I wouldn’t blame EA fully for their closure.
It’s been a decade since BioWare did something noteworthy and during that time respawn went from being a complete nobody to one of the biggest studios EAs ever had.
