It’s the simple things like the mud guards that make it look like a beast. I’ve just pre-ordered the super Baja Rey 2.0 so I’m in for a hell of a bash soon.
@@KevinTalbotTV nice! Then i will wait on buying a udr till i have seen you test that. If it is as realistic as the udr, i might get that instead. I want to get a non-traxxas car, but some of their models fit my needs perfectly. I have a rustler 4x4 and a trx-6, and i'll get a udr or something similar.
The 5T has been my favorite RC of all of mine. It handles like a eighth scale buggy when jumping and using it around tight areas. I never even started the 26cc engine it came with and put a DDM 30.5 CC nc ported with a bartolone exhaust with expansion chamber. Many other modifications also with the bartalone chassis. I have taken this truck with paddles in the sand and jumped it and bashed it relentlessly and 30 plus minutes of runtime per fuel tank fill up just get a funnel and you can fill it right back up without taking the body off. Those four additional screws give the chassis quite a bit more rigidity cuz of the cage built into the body. My body just stays on
I don't know why I'm watching this, I don't own any RC cars, but after watching this I have the urge to go drop some money on a Traxxas lol. Gotta say I'm impressed with your craftsmanship reinforcing the body. Almost $300 for a damn piece of fiberglass???????? Yea I don't blame you at all for modifying the one you had. Should be damn near bulletproof with that tape and Shoe Goo on the underside.
To be honest, because you're you, (no offense) you should probably make the endpoints about half throttle so you don't explode the engine from "over revving" it on the run in. (I'm no professional either haha!)
Coming from a small engine mechanic, these 2 stroke engines have enough restriction from the carburetor intake that you likely won't over-rev the engine. They're made to go full throttle for quite a while. It's different for all engines, but generally you don't have to worry about that on 2 stroke gas engines.
Awesome glad too see 1/5 scale. Can’t wait to watch your progress and future modifications. Maybe you’ll change your mind down the road and use one of your MGM ESC‘s and go 15S and get some real power behind that Losi 😎.
I run a Losi 3XLE 1:8 and it's a beast! I changed a few things, but look and performance wise I wouldn't trade it for nothing, nicest suspension out the box I've seen and love the plastic/aluminum chassis combo. Just don't see many other bigger Losi trucks? Is there a reason why?
"what'd you get?" "a small gas powered trophy truck" "oh? never heard of those, heard of electric ones though" "wanna see it?" "sure" *shows* "holy gas powered chicken strips that's not small, thats huge!" "err, yeah.. i uh.. 'forgot' it was big.." also what does that mesh tape and the shoo glue exactly do? does it sort of act like a reinforcement for the shell, and hold it together?
Kev was so funny as soon as i saw that you set that battery in there I said what.... cut out that end peace so it slides in cut a notch on the top cover then you have to figure out what you're doing already for the front plate... Perfect Mate
Kevin you don't have to take any screws out to take the body off two pins in the front go underneath two pins in the back, pull the front up and pull forward the two in the rear of the truck. To put it back on slide the body into the grooves. The rear bumper has the holes where the studs from the body connect

I've been into electric for years and stayed away from nitro. This is mainly due to some of the "horror stories" I've been told of tuning, the glow plugs, blowing motors and fuel mixtures. We, as a family have a few trucks, 4wd's, rock bouncers and boats. Now, looking at this, and the pushing of a buddy, a nitro might be in my near future. This truck just hit my radar and its one mean truck.

The Shoe Goo method is essential indeed, I do it to all my RC bodies. Except the TR-4/TRX-6 bodies, I left those stock. But they are not for bashing, so it's not really necessary. The Shoe Goo stuff is not cheap but it pays off in the end. Your body will last a whole lot longer for sure!
Can't go wrong with Losi. I would definitely get some exhaust hose & run out the body aiming towards the floor, otherwise its goona get dirty real quickly Kev. 👍
4 years ago I bought a king motor X2, it is freaking awesome. I put an (O'Neil Brothers Racing) OBR 30.5 CC full mod engine on it, it has 7.5 horsepower. It came when its own dyno sheet.
