The high adjustment screw (or throttle screw) is the one closest to to the air filter. The screw closest to the engine is the low (or idle screw). There is a thin wire that goes to the coil (not the one that goes to the spark plug) it must be grounded to the engine to kill the engine. Follow this wire and check for a loose connection. I hope this helps.
@ZAC HARDLE really a waste of time and money unless you have money and time to blow would require alot of modification I've asked and seen similar asked in some 5th scale groups and forums, plenty out there that's a direct fit and not oversized that would out perform that 110 in most cases
I don't think people understand how much effort, work, and time this takes for Kev to do what he does. He fully deserves all his success, he's less than 0.1% of the population who have this in them. Admiration.
I agree…. I never knew how to properly appreciate content creation and what a “great video” takes and what it means. I’ve changed my perspective ever since I started treating my Chanel as if raising a child and how to put my viewers before me.
@@tomothybahamothy … Good jobs are supposed to be easy, that’s everybody’s dream. The hard work comes first and the payoff comes later after sacrifices are made. I would try a different kill switch. Killer bee is the one I use. Also you’re geared to aggressive. That is why it was heating up like crazy. Also you probably should break the motor in proper before ripping like that. Just my take.
Kev, on my dirtbike filter I only use 3 drops of air filter oil as per manufacturer instructions and rub it in. If it's too saturated the engine will run inconsistently causing you to chase the tune. Not sure how much oil you use but it seemed a bit much for such a small filter. You want just the outer surface saturated to prevent dust particles in dry conditions from going in the carb. With that said. That is a sick build!
Which brand? I don't know of any of the major brands recommending underoiling filters by that much. Most recommend to saturate it, remove excess with a towel and then let it dry (yes, air filter oil dries a bit and becomes even more sticky through that).
That exactly what I've had happen to me, because the filter is clogged up with oil it effectively works like a choke and screws with the air fuel ratio.
@@RyanMcIntyre I think it actually comes down to the size of the engine, the smaller the engine the more sensitive it is to changes, especially with the intake side. Dirt bikes are probably better off with a drenched filter.
@@RyanMcIntyreSo you're saying my alcoholic father wasn't supposed to leave a rag in the air-boot and then put the filter on? It really smooths the power out. LoL 😊

If you get a engine too lean it actually starts dieseling (tip of the spark plug actually glows)& won’t stop even if you pull the spark plug cap. the best thing to do is hit the kill switch &open the throttle this will dump fuel in & cools the engine. Or just cover the intake with a cloth
If a 2-stroke engines doesn't wanna turn off, you can always just block the exhaust, like put your shoe against it or something. Saved us and our engines many times! ;)
that metallic sound is sometimes mentioned as the engine seizing sound, especially when not runned in engine gets hot, that is like number one thing that should not be done to new engines, but it could be just some random stuff rattling around in there... by the way, try to put some stuff into the front and rear diffs, they are still super loose, especially with that overpowered engine that blew the tires pretty much right off🤣
Kevin, you are an expert by the way. Not sure what kill switch you are using. But I have hand many brands and they are not all equal. Sometimes you need to reverse the wires to the coil. And you can have less interference.
Kev. Nitro and Petrol cars go into a lean condition when the tank gets below 1/8th. We used to run a large in-line fuel filter on our cars and trucks to help that lean condition be better by aerating the fuel better. Also you can get a fuel line pinch kit to shut off fuel flow so the engine will stall if the kill switches happen to not work again in the future. Cheers.
5th scale is awesome but they're so loud! Especially if you have upgraded exhaust. You definitely need a good place to run them if you want to be considerate to your neighbors 😂
Ask Taylor what the run-in carb settings are. There should be a certain number of turns out from all the way turned in. For my chain saws its like 1 to 1-1/4 turns out for the L and H. the 3rd is your Idle speed that you can adjust to your liking. You would think something like that would be included with an engine of that caliber.
HI Kevin huge fan I love Rc cars and planes so much I do have the Losi Baja buggy and a sc10 RC truck my uncle got me in to this hobby I started when I was 5 I enjoy RC's so much
That Taylor RC engine looks like a BEAST! I’ve been fixing/repairing small engines like in strimmers and lawn mowers and so on for years now and I get that sick of them, all my own equipment is battery powered now. Same with the RC cars. Awesome to get going but spend more time pulling the starter than driving the damn things.
With Spektrum radios, you have to remember to re-bind after you get done setting up your radio sub trims, trims, travel, etc. The failsafe servo positions are set during binding.
As others have said, we def need some more 1/5th scale content with speed running and bashing these monsters! Would be fun to drop the biggest and most powerful engine you can find in one of these 1/5 scales and let it rip! Cheers Kev👍

Second reason is a weak battery in tramsmitter or car. Nice vid kev, this engine rips, Have a nice day
The radio fail safe is used in that case So the throttle servo should be closed whenever the receiver loose signal Probably a weak or discharged battery is the problem ( but the kill switch detect it and stop the engine )
So crazy idea for the tuning but kev what if you take the nitro/petro cars to a car tuning shop or a dyno company hook it up to a o2 sensor to get air fuel ratio challenge then to tune it or get a Holley efi box and run the o2 system that way in the shop

Hi Kev, this comment to not relate to this video specifically, I just wanted to thank you for getting me into the hobby. I am a complete newbie so the obvious first car was an 8S Xmaxx 🥴as it was second hand from eBay I have had quite a few of the retaining nuts on the plastic chassis strip. So I thought I would share a tip to the solution I thought off (apologies if you have done this and I missed it). Anyway, I found if you have enough area you can drill out the old hole and insert a metal furniture retaining nut using a hex driver. The bolt will then have a solid metal fixing. I hope that might help someone out. I'll put a link in the next comment as I believe sometimes they get blocked.
hah, Kevin has built a monster again~ Always feels relaxing to watch how Kevin assemble his new rc. Another topic is I've bought the official Traxxas Steel CVD upgrade for WideMaxx, and a Yeah Racing Universal Set-Up System for on-road cars~ both of them are good companies!
I bought a T-maxx a few years back, it got about 50 yards from me then went full thottle and vanished, found it a few feet from a lamp post with the whole front end smashed to peices. turns out it went out of range and full throttled itself haha, this vid brought back memories :D nice one Kev!
Had a runaway on a petrol RC once, created a new process for start of the day: start engine, press kill button, start engine test remote kill works on the button, start engine, turn transmitter off. Then start engine and play. I dislike a process that messes with the fun, but I dislike chasing a 30mph+ car with 40 mins of fuel a hell of a lot more
Kevin I had your same symptoms happen on an Honda 85R to some kids, the only way I could get it to happen was get it hot in 1st gear. What it's doing is heating up and advancing the timing and running away. Which can also happen to an engine braking in with in adequate air flow, or making pulls or hits without making a few breathing laps. Hope this helps
