This trailer was amazing! Hearing James Earl Jones speak gave me all the chills and definitely made me teary eyed. The original animated movie was a big part of my childhood. I watched it SO MANY times way back in the day. In fact, I don't think I've watched it since I was a kid. I need to change that...

Happy Day Late to the Party aka National Treasure. Thank you so much for the positive thoughts on this trailer. Lion King is my favorite/animated movie of all time. I am scared for anyone to touch this movie it was my childhood. I am cautiously optimistic that this movie can deliver especially when I heard the powerful James Earl Jones and circle of life song I got chills I was so emotional and move with tears Yes I was crying ! It's good I am not alone in this emotional boat. This trailer captures my heart! I hope that Jon Favreau ’s can make this live-action lion king amazing after all I love all the movies he did especially Jungle Book! I'm not denying that this looks amazing, but I do have one major issue: with the live-action Jungle Book, they told the same basic story but added new scenes, dialogue, etc. As Robert touched on once or twice, this teaser for The Lion King is literally shot-for-shot the same as the animated version, even down to the camera angles.
I think it'll be a huge hit regardless, but I do hope they at least try to change things up a bit instead of relying on the nostalgia and photo-real live-action factors.

So do they actually have the original circle of life song in the movie?? If so I’m not complaining! They could totally put that exact song in this movie, since there are no characters actually singing it. It’s so iconic, it’s hard to redo that song and make it as incredible!!

Maan, I just CAN'T wait. "Lion King" is to many, including me, the best animated movie in the history of cinematography.
And the most beautiful one. Heck, it's technicallt Shakespeare for children. Just with animals instead of people.
I loved Favreau's "Jungle Book". I'm 95% sure he won't butcher LK. He knows how to respect the source material while not
making it a calque. This CDI-remake has one HUGE problem though... the lack of Jeremy Irons as Scar!! That's unforgiving!!!
Why Disney? Why? Especially that Jeremy Irons's voice didn't change AT ALL since the mid-90s. So why?

Could you please explain what are the differences between the D23’s sneak peek and the teaser trailer of The Lion King?
D23 showed the entire opening of the film shot for shot in full "live action" cgi. From the sun rising to the lifting of simba, all while Circle of Life played in the background. Ending with the title screen just like in the animated version.

@@Cmpunkguy24 What a bullshit excuse of a reason, Scar is just as important of a character to the story, and be prepared is a huge part of the story, it adds a lot to him as a character as well, without it, there is a huge thing missing from the overall story, why are the Hyena's on his side? What are his motivations? When did this bitter depressed brother suddenly become homicidal? Besides that it just sets him up so well as the big bad, it'd be a huge artistic crime not to include that part of the movie, if that actor doesn't have the musical chops they shouldn't have hired him in the first place.
There is absolutely no official tracklist released by Disney.

Yeah, "live action" is definitely a misnomer. Photo-realistic animation is still animation. Basically it's just a remake.

This is something that should be seen by several reactors, especially those who question Disney's choice to give us new versions of old classics. Netflix is showing a documentary about Walt Disney, titled Walt: The Man Behind the Myth. In it you can see that if he were alive today he may very well have wanted to use the latest technology to re-imagine his classic films. And for those who think The Lion King is the studio's most emotional animated feature, check out Bambi.

i am not a big donald glover and beyonce fan at all
the voice casting for this film probably would have sounded better with maybe someone like chris pratt ryan reynolds maculay culkin or chris evans as simba
and either eliza banks, scarlett johansen, emilia clarke gal gadot, or karen gillian as nala
and maybe have a best friend lioness for nala, similar to how in the live action aladdin that jasmine has a hand maid
sarabi probably would have sounded better with either: Jennifer Lopez, Demi Moore whoopi goldberg or halle berry voicing
scar was also in my opinion, probably the Worst casted, cause the least these writers could have done,
is if they had let james earl jones return as mufasa, they could have at least let jeremy irons return as scar, or have ben cumberbatch voice scar
what makes me kinda frustrated about the person they chose to voice scar, is that it doesn't sound menacing enough
as for how donald glover and beyonce, their take on simba and nala doesn't sound convincing to older lion king fans like myself
who acknowledge the fact that matt broderick and moira kelly are terrific as simba and nala, and that cam clarke also does a good job along side broderick as simba in the direct to video universe and rob lowe does a good job as simba in the tv universe of lion king in the tv show the Lion guard
But despite a lot of Negatives for this film which involve bad casting choices for simba, nala and scar and sarabi, there are some positives as well
john oliver as zazu, bill eichner and seth rogen as timon and pumbaa, the hyenas played by eric andre, keegan michael key and florence kasumba definately are terrificly casted
point is, this film is Ok, But not as well off as i would hope it to be

I really wish they would've done something of a mashup with the original film and the Broadway show. Instead we got the EXACT same movie with only one (1!) new scene in this. One of the worst Disney "live action" remakes.
I am disapointed by this trailer, for 2 reasons:
Disney promotes it as live action, while it is just CGI aka still animation
And the trailer is literally identical to the trailer of the original movie
They don't even hide anymore that this is the excat same movie, only with a different art direction
You honestly expect it to be live action with real animals? Are you daft? Obviously it's CGI, but no one calls it a "CGI remake" that'd be stupid, the point is the CGI makes it look so real that it looks "live action-y" if you actually expected it to be live action then I don't know what to tell you. As for the trailer comparisons, are you serious? Obviously it's a fucking respectful nod to the original, and since when does the trailer actually tell you everything about the movie? Besides that, you're probably the only one who wants them to venture beyond the original too much, usually the point of things like this is to experience a childhood movie but in a setting that feels lifelike....
Another opinionated comment to look at. Narrow minds don't accept rebuttals though so I don't want to talk about it

Don't you think that if they'd really wanted to make a live action remake of the lion king, they should make and use realistic animal puppets instead of cgi?
Chwitel Ejiofor doesn't have that intimidating voice to pull off scar like irons did. Plus I'm not fan of his s performance in doctor strange

Sorry guys, you can't beat the classic. They are just redoing all the old movies to make more money. Someone posted something like "If you think the new Lion King is going to be absolutely great BECAUSE it is CGI, you aren't a real Lion King fan, more of a 'animation matters' fan' ".
see, this teaser made me angry. This movie is going to be huge but I for 1 will just watch the original. I loved the original and in my opinion this was not needed. I got no feels except making me want to pull out my dvd. Why did we need this other than for Disney to have a massive cash grab.... The music did not get me on this one like the original did. Maybe it is just me cause I experienced it all the first time in the theater, the promos... etc.
