Hey bud I'm always looking for vids on granny smith trees. I live in Houston and just planted a granny smith two years ago. I saw it struggling a bit the first year but did really well the second year. Here's a tip from Gary Matsuota from laguna hills nursery in California. Lots and lots of water. The difference between those years for my tree was exactly that. We had a bit of a drought the first year and I had a hard time keeping up with watering. Last year we had alot more rain and it really took off!
I definitely recommend looking for Garys videos here on RUclips. He's a vast wealth of knowledge and hosts live gardening seminars every Saturday from his nursery. And again water water water apples and pears just can't get enough, especially apples. In the northwest orchards they throw on tons of mulch and Gary says they tell him they never have to water.

Hi Shannon, thank you for watching and commenting! I'm so glad to hear that your granny smith did so well the second year! I will take all the tips you have to give and I will definitely check out Gary's channel. I have found that my other apple trees (pink lady and honeycrisp) do not require as much water as the granny smith. I have them under deep mulch and they get water every two weeks in the summer. Hopefully we have another rainy year like 2022 and that helps. I will keep all of this in mind this year and see if I can help it produce some amazing fruit.

Hello @johanconradie2120, thank you for watching and commenting! I appreciate your concern over how close the tree is to my neighbors palm. I will take this into consideration. Our Pink Lady Apple Tree is the same distance to another one of their palm trees and has produced a lot of apples. I guess we'll see what the future holds.

Hello @APOSTLESDOCTRINEPHOENIX, thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, they can grow here. I have seen people successfully grow and harvest them in the garden community. My tree has not fruit yet but I do have a Pink Lady Apple tree that I harvested over 150 Apples from last year. I'm hoping that this is the year that I get some Granny Smith Apples. They grow well and do fine with our full sun in the summer if properly watered and covered in mulch. From my understanding they are self pollinating so you only need one tree. Let me know if you have any other questions.
