- Our abundant fig tree is about to come out of it's winter dormancy. This is the best time to prune fig trees. It allows the tree to heal slightly before putting out new growth and fruit. This pruning is actually vital to keeping the tree a manageable size while also helping encourage it to produce more fruit. Native to France, the Brown Turkey Fig creates large quantities of medium sized figs. This is actually the first time I have pruned our Brown Turkey Fig in The Green Yard and it looks so much happier after I pruned it. Watch the video to learn about what areas I focused on during my prune and my reasoning behind pruning.
