What if the GFI doesn't turn on after resetting it and the breaker in box is in the on position?

Thanks for the tips.
In our case someone plugged in a portable drill press into the GFI outlet on the machine.
This totally destroyed the outlet, blowing it apart. Thus our GFI cannot be reset, until we replace the outlet. In the dark for awhile.
