Sir, I know you want to make a job or a hobby out of this but stopping it so much No longer makes it a reaction. It just makes it more of an educational channel for you 2. Explain to us what the song is. It's not a reaction to music because it kills the momentum. Every single time you stop it

When it comes to Tool - you only understand the lyrics related to "where you are at at this moment". Listen to the same song 10 years later, the meaning is different.
That's why the "TOOL Army" exists.

Yep Tool affects me the same way. And the music alone in their song Descending off their 2019 album Fear Inoculum is packed so full of riches I hear something new to me every time I listen to it.

Talk about learning something new. Tool fan since 93, listened to this song maybe a thousand times, the shado-wa, there’s a shadow vowel. Cool.

Humans have 46 chromosomes, which is what the title lyrics are referencing. +2 supposedly symbolizing an evolution beyond the standard human limits. Essentially alluding to finding a better version of yourself along the journey of life.
At least thats my assessment based on all the various interpretations I’ve heard over the years. Then again, the depth of Tool lyrics can mean different things to different people, which is a powerful and beautiful art in itself.

This is THAT kind of album. I've been listening to it for twenty years now. In many of the songs, Maynard seemed to be singing about an external antagonist, but it is in the last year that I have come to the conclusion that all of these songs are about various internal antagonists that he is facing. (Maybe I'm late to the party, but I think this speaks to your comment about listening to a song twenty times and finding new things...) Eulogy is a great example of this and a slow-burn banger. I'd say you were spot on in your analysis about accepting and integrating the various aspects of the human condition. Thanks for the reaction, cheers.

I bet Albert Einstein would've loved this song. He said he was trying to figure out the mind of God through math, but this is like searching for the mind of God through evolution.

    • @youtubebannedme4207

Einstein didn't believe in God. He was to smart to fall for that nonsense. When he says God he isn't talking about the God of the Bible he's talking essentially about the universe.

Picking scabs, is healing old wounds/trauma that didn't heal correctly - this is used in medicine to fixate bones that didn't heal correctly; and it's painful. The shadow in this song isn't growing - the person is evolving, shedding off how they used to be. It's confrontation and reconciliation with the Shadow to grow with the Shadow. And the shadow is the most shameful part of your subconscious, which you can't get rid of, but shed light on, and allow it to integrate with you in a healthy manner. We can't get rid of our Shadow, but we can recognize it, learn to have a healthy, loving relationship with it, and grow from accepting it, while not allowing it to be the sole decider of our lives. Paraphrasing Jung: You can choose to ignore your shadow, and it will make all the important decisions for you in life.

I cant with this guy. He stops the song every 3 seconds to explain what a scab is or some other random nonsense for 10 minutes at a time. Just play the song and tell us if you like it or not. I can do without all the babbling about nothing. You could atleast wait until the end of the song to ramble on so the people not interested can move along.

Man you're terrible..I suggest you If you want to focus to lyrics look at them before you react to any song because you don't react to the song but to the lyrics. So check them before to make your mind and have some idea and then hear the song to enjoy it and also we can enjoy it.. You lose the song and no one enjoys this reaction even if puch like.. Especially in this song that the lyrics is so deep that one time isn't enough to get the point..

Give him a break. This is a crazy lyrical song and he was super excited by what he was seeing. Was there a lot of breaks, do I wish you would have listened to it more and entirety for the musical part yes... But his excitement for the lyrics tells me he will listen to this several more times. No matter which catches you first, lyrics or music. The point is to get excited about it. Mission accomplished
