In Which Heidi Przybyla Shows Us the Way | Doug Wilson

  • The world of Christian X was all in a doodah over something that Heidi Przybyla said last week. Now this was fully appropriate, but Christian worldview thinking demands that we take care that it be the right kind of doodah. If we get into any weird kind of doodah, this reveals more about us than we would perhaps like to be revealed. And what that would reveal is that we don’t really know who we are in the story, or where we are in the story.

    Thomas Woods taught me 30 years ago the difference between the US and the Federal Polities of the world. Their rights come from the government, and can be numbered. Our rights come from our Creator, and cannot be numbered. We consent to be governed ONLY on the guarantee that the government will keep their paws off our rights.

    I actually have always had a heart for James Lindsay and feel to pray for him pretty regularly. His work has been invaluable and he really has a great deal of wisdom for an unbeliever. That being said, this critique is pretty spot on.
    His formative years with the New Atheists which he spent deconstructing religion have made him incredibly effective against Marxist paganism. It has unfortunately been a double-edged sword that keeps the Holy Spirit (and thus the truth he is so close to reaching) at arm's length, even though I suspect the Lord has been on the march in his life.
    Additionally, because his job is essentially to steep himself in Marxist primary documents, he is constantly dunked into that darkness. I think it has distorted his perception. The Marxist gods seem much bigger and more effective than they actually are and the God he doesn't yet believe in seems much too small. Don't get me wrong, the enemy has a pretty good track record, but they aren't omnipotent. It's important to keep things in perspective lest we forfeit by default because we were too afraid to move our chess piece and be immediately checkmated. Because he doesn't believe in the victory of the Lord, he can't approach that battlefield with any modicum of faith.
    Lastly, he presupposes virtue without the conviction of the Holy Spirit. He doesn't understand that fruit doesn't just spring up without the vine and that he is the inheritor of a peace which was carved from the spiritual wilderness by his forefathers. He's certainly not the only one and it's a flawed belief held by many of his colleagues. Still, I pray and am hopeful that the Lord will sidestep his intellectual defenses and touch his heart.

The only difference is that we who know Jesus as our Lord and Savior will not face the righteous judgement of God the father, praise Jesus. Those that reject God/Jesus will indeed face the righteous judgement of God the father. The fact that they too enjoyed common grace will be the greatest damning evidence against them in that day of judgement, an extra large heaping of 'burning coals' on their head, so to speak

    Oh, Doug. I had my 8, 11, and 13 year old watch this this morning. I paused it several times to clearly break down the three options: Pagan Nationalism (Nazi-ism), Pagan Globalism (woke-sim or communism...also Islam) and Christian Nationalism. It helped so much to have those three definitions for them.
    So sad that the corporate leadership of the American church has never taken a single course on learning about God's relationship to human government (on all levels...from the individual to the family to the community to the county to the state to the region to the highest federal levels....also including thrones in industry such as Hollywood, the CDC, NASA, Harvard, etc.). SO thankful there are some (few) voices out there like Wilson's, who can articulate the relationship well and with dry wit. 🙂

    • @danielnoel3540
      @danielnoel3540 3 месяца назад

      @manager0175 The Framers' understanding of Scripture is clear throughout our constitution. They knew very well the doctrines of depravity and original sin and took action to create a constitution that defends the state from potentially corrupt leaders who would see themselves as the highest authority. Numerous supreme court decisions have acknowledged the transcendental nature of our rights and the Biblical root of our Constitution. But alas, you are right; the consitution isn't clear enough in its Biblical basis, but as you say, we can ratify a new one. I look forward to the day that we ratify a constitution with a preamble that declares, first and foremost, "Christ is Lord".
