- Hello, class! I'm back again with another Master Class video for all my pop-up students out there, especially for those of you who want to learn something a little more advanced. Today, I'll be showing you how to build a Double V-Fold Extender pop. It's something I like to use because it pushes the beyond the limits of paper engineering rules we know already and I am ALL about breaking the rules!
Please feel free to send me pictures or videos of the pop-ups you create from my Pop-Up Master Class videos - because I want to see them! Tag me in any photos you would like me to see on the social media links posted below, but please be sure that you ask for a parent's permission first before you post beforehand if you are a kid.
Comment below if you have any suggestions for future Pop-Up Master Class lessons - any mechanisms you just don't get and would like me to deconstruct for you. Maybe I'll pick your request for an upcoming video!

I don't even have words to express how grateful I am that you just posted this. I have been struggling for weeks on how to make a really dramatic pop up extend as far above the page as possible. This should totally work. A million thanks!
Thank you so much professor Reinhart. Amazing mechanism. You are very kind for sharing your knowledge.
This video is just what I’ve been wanting to learn. Thank you so much!
Fascinating. Lucid. Inspiring. A Professor indeed.
Matthew ...you are best. I really like your work. Because of you i started making popup cards.
Thank you so much!!! Never been more happy to have homework than today! 😁
Love the voices you do. I am a retired preschool teach from Michigan. First time I came across a pop up book, the kids were so excited I made everyone a one page pop up in 10 min after looking at the book my coworkers were so impressed, I didn’t realize it was such a big deal. Now that I have time I want to make my granddaughter a personal 3 part pop up book about her . Thanks fo details,👍🤟🏾
Muchas gracias! Aunque no entienda ingles, entiendo perfectamente tu forma de explicar. Wow!! Realmente me sorprende y me encanta!! Gracias!! 😘😘
Great teacher Reinhart, show cinderella transformation mechanism please.
I love all your pop ups
Oh thank you so much Matthew...
Super! super! super!!!!! I like your lessons!!!! You're great!!Please!!! MORE interesting ideas!!! Thank you very much!!!!
WOW!!! This is so impressive! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us 💙
Thanks again for your teaching and time, I would like to see the mechanism of the owl that leaves a tree when opening the page is very beautiful and funny
Dear Matthew! I am very grateful to you for this lesson. Before that, I made such a tower, but in terms of the finished dimensions, I was not quite satisfied with its appearance. So I really wanted to understand the principle itself. And in your video, I understood everything very well, it's like a discovery, and when you understand everything, you get real pleasure. I really encourage you to do another lesson in which you would show how the mouth of the dragon from your book "Dragons and Monsters" opens - the one whose body is made of tissue paper. And another lesson that interested me from the same book is the kraken that attacks the ship. These mysteries haunt me. Please tell me about them. Thank you!
Great practical advices. Thank you!!!
You are truly an amazing teacher ❤
Thank You very much. So interesting ;-)
Great tutorial as usual thank you Matthew, I mean professor Matthew. That mechanism took me ages to figure out myself as it does depend alot on trial and error but understanding the basic of the v-folds always make the first steps easy. Any chance you could make a tutorial in the future on creating the outlines, die-lines? would be great to see how you break the working prototype apart, scanning, digitaising, creating the die-lines, digital painting and rebuilding from a printed version. Maybe I'm asking the master to reveal too many secrets. :)
Really appreciate sharing your experience with us and it's really helpful
thank you so much ❤️
Think I got my pop up idea out after watching some of your videos xD Gotta test it a bit more. Thank you!
Just Amazing!!!
I love your job, thank you for teaching us :)
"I'm a real retangle"😂❤
professor, you are great.
Hi Professor Reinhart. I used this mechanism on a few cards. Could you make a tutorial on the mechanism of Cinderella changing to the evening gown in the “Disney Princesses”. I think it is similar to this one but more complicated.
Awesome! Thanks for the class. Let's see if I can replicate it :)
¡Beautifull!!!
Magnífico, gracias. You are fine
Merci beaucoup
Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias Gracias I love you
How about string things like in your castle book.
This is a bit more like welding metal than carpentry. You can build up metal but the rule of "measure twice cut once" is limited to wood. If you cut a board to short you can't stretch it, you have to cut a new board. You always add to metal.
Thank you for all of your helpful videos. I'm pretty new to all this, but I just made my second pop-up book (Winnie the Pooh): ruclips.net/video/d4PXyDVoCc0/видео.html . I used this extender mechanism on the last (sixth) page, but my videography doesn't do it justice. On the fifth page, starting at about 11:30, I used some arm/wing extensions and unfurling similar to your massive Gods and Heroes one.
Thank you PROFESSOR M. R, you are AWESOME
Super duper! Thank you Matthew!
I am waiting to see how transformer is made. Really want to make one transformer but dont have any idea. Pls teach us one
Very brilliant
Te sigo y me encantas...opino lo mismo que Galy Escriba, pero me atrevo a pedirte por favor: subtítulos en español, sería perfecto 😍 michas gracias por enseñarme
That was....wow :0
Thank you...
THANKS
