    At last, a color change mechanism that doesn't require the use of pull strips! I am so happy to have another pop-up teacher to learn from in addition to Matthew Reinhart and Duncan Birmingham. Thank you for this excellent tutorial.

    Good afternoon, Paul! When I made this design, I got a little flaw. when the card is opened and closed, the platform rotates slightly in a circle. This movement creates the appearance that the platform is not parallel to the edge of the base. I don’t understand how it happened. Maybe the reason is the lifting structure? Maybe the strips on which the platform is attached are too long ...

    • @anastasiasmolina1310
      @anastasiasmolina1310 3 года назад

      Ok, I changed the height of the lifting angle. I cut it even lower with scissors. The defect has been eliminated) Sorry to bother you)

      No problem! I wanted to say that you may need to experiment a bit but you already figured it out. Well done!

      @@PaperPaul Thank you) This mechanism is a very interesting basis for different experiments!

      @@PaperPaul Paul, it is very important for me that the pop-up design works exactly. I love accuracy, I am a perfectionist)) I get very upset when I buy a book in which the structures do not work, I try to repair them myself. At the same time, I see how it works, I study it. It is a pity that many books even known as Peter Pan by Matthew Rainhart have manufacturing defects. For example, there is no way I can fix the ship on the last page of this book. The thread does not raise the sail. That's why pop-up accuracy is important to me.

      Agreed. Yes I know how it feels. We also collect pop-up books and it’s no fun when a pop-up doesn’t work, or worse, when a part tears in half when you open it for the first time. Oh btw, Peter Pan is from Robert Sabuda. The ship is very complicated and also doesn’t work in our book.

      I forgot, been a long time ago. I think it was a dotting or embossing tool.

      It’s hard to find this exact pen but I found this Dutch webshop: www.hobbywinkel.net/detail/125755/rilpen-metaal.htm They sell it as a metal score pen.
