It's just part of the other pieces of evidence they have agaisnt him. Also, he was the source of those large cash deposits Katie was making in the months after the murder. And we all know what that was for.
Ironically, the proof of Katherine's innocence is in the wire taps. If Katherine doesn't know the undercover is talking about her (and clearly, she doesn't), then she isn't involved The case is that simple. And if I am her counsel, I drive home this one fact to the jury in my close - it saves her life "If she doesn't know, she isn't involved. I'll say it again. If she doesn't know, she isn't involved. Throw every other piece of evidence for and against her in the trash. If she doesn't know, she isn't involved" The one thing we know is that if Katherine is involved, she knows instantly, immediately, without questioning, the undercover is talking about her - it is not a puzzle she has to solve Judge, Jury, Prosecution ... no one has another explanation for why she doesn't know. If she doesn't know, she isn't involved
@T-LO No family member, even for a deal, will so much as hint she knew a thing while she has those boys to raise. Even the report of a rhetorical 'Who will rid me of this troublesome... babydaddy?' we already know from history will not make her culpable in any way.
I agree. He didn't say anything incriminating. But the cops and DA must have more. You know how they keep a lid on other evidence before a trial. They must have more! You know how FL is when it comes to murder.
Law enforcement's goal for the bump was to generate conversation between two co-conspirators in a murder-for-hire, but they achieved exactly the opposite What law enforcement get, what we hear in the wire taps and restaurant recording, is two people never once talking about the murder or related topics. Katie, obviously, because she wasn't involved, so has no knowledge of the murder, and Charlie thinks this is people extorting his family for reasons he can't work out Because Katie's name is mentioned by the undercover during the bump, Charlie has no understanding that the note, this guy (the undercover) is actually related to the murder of Dan Markel Law enforcement unknowingly framed Katie for the murder. It's a classic case of confirmation bias - create a theory and use corrupted "evidence" to fit that theory, thus convicting an innocent girl
How can you say Charlie has no understanding that the note is actually related to the murder of Dan Markel.? The undercover handed his mom a newspaper clipping about Dan Markel’s death.
@@MrSoccerball100 This guy 'hit the headlines' makes this comment all over the place and never considers a different point of view or the evidence for that matter... I might actually say: 'troll, best to ignore.' But you are 100% correct. The note has a newspaper clipping and his mom tells him from the start that its about the "TV" (murder) costing them more money.
Katie's life has been destroyed by law enforcement. They simply didn't think about the implications and consequences that mentioning her name during "The Bump" would have for and on her and how diseased the case would become from this one act of thoughtlessness Throwing Katie into the mix also makes things extremely confusing for Charlie because he knows she wasn't involved, so maybe the note wasn't even about the murder, he's thinking He needs to find out if Katie had anything to do with the note or indeed has anything to do with these people ... ... In Charlie's mind: "Is the note about the murder or something else entirely? If it's about the murder, why did the guy mention Katie? "The guy deliberately mentioned Katie to mom, so it must have something to do with Katie, but what? What has Katie got to do with anything?" He has a thousand questions to answer and the only way he's going to even begin answering them is by phoning Katie, probing, using and manipulating her. He's not phoning her as a coconspirator, he's phoning her on a discovery quest And to think that Charlie wouldn't have even phoned Katie, wouldn't have even thought to phone Katie, if they hadn't dropped her name What a mess, what a nightmare for Katie
Wendi, Harvey and Donna Adelson not involved in the murder. This was simply Charlie going rogue in protection of his sister and dislike of his brother-in-law Luis Rivera the one solicited as hitman through Charlie's underworld (drug) connections, Sigfredo Garcia, Luis' unlucky friend, who went on a roadtrip and found himself in the middle of a murder-for-hire .. and Katie not involved at all
@@tjjay2438 You only have to hear Luis' laughable money drop story to know he's talking bs about all of it including Katie's involvement Sigfredo's level of knowledge and involvement must also be seriously questioned. We can't just assume that he was a willing participant or even knew Luis' plans on either trip
@@hittheheadlines2942 just so weird...you must be a lawyer that makes reverse blame scenarios for a living. It's like a game of chess; six years of Prosecutors coaxing Katie into a deal. They must have hoped Charlie's arrest, neatly timed before the trial, would break her The problem is, Katie is innocent, she wasn't involved. It's impossible for her to make a deal. What is she supposed to do, make stuff up?
@@dandawayMTL Don't look to the wire taps for the truth. They were tainted from the very beginning when the undercover mentioned Katie's name to Donna Adelson The evidence is in the two testimonies in the first trial. When I listened to and watched Katie I only saw honesty and sincerity in her storytelling. When I listened to Luis I realised that he was just telling us a pack of lies. From the car hire to the phone call from the car after the shooting to seeing Wendi walking with her kids to the muddled money drop story, you knew it was all made up I don't struggle with her guilt or innocence anymore as I did when I first started following the case a couple of years ago. I know she wasn't involved. Wire taps, bank records, car hire, cell tower data, Lexus, breast implants, dental work, all of it ... doesn't even qualify as circumstantial evidence
@@dandawayMTL Really encouraging to get your message, appreciate so much such a considered response and thoughts It really is a mind bender this case. Same as you I've somehow been drawn into it above all others About Wendi: Harvey, Donna and Wendi were not involved. This was simply Charlie hating on his ex brother-in-law for all the grief that he caused his sister. Listening to Donna's emails to Wendi, they weren't full of malice, just a resolve for Wendi to fight her corner Wendi came across false in that initial interrogation, totally. But I think she was just having a hard job of actually feeling emotion for what had happened in the moment and forced it a little There is no role for Wendi if Katie is innocent ... according to Luis it was Wendi and Katie colluding, organising best times to carry out the hit, location of DM on the day and arranging payment. Luis made a terrible job of keeping his story straight regarding Wendi (and Katie) through the various depositions and meetings with detectives. It seemed as though as he learnt more from detectives and media, he added to and changed his story to suit Luis' story about seeing Wendi with the kids on 17th July was an attempt to throw her into the mix. The more people he could implicate the better for him In trial, during his testimony, whenever he implicated Katie in his story, he would cover his face, wipe his eyes, cough and put his hand up to his mouth - he just couldn't handle lying about her when she was sitting right in front of him Georgia Cappleman, the lead prosecutor, has travelled so far down the wrong road now chasing Katie Chris deCoste, Katie's lawyer summed it up so well in his closing about the Prosecution team: "... they can't see it, they can't understand it, that she's innocent, she wasn't involved"

The case is that simple. And if I am her counsel, I drive home this one fact to the jury in my close - it saves her life
"If she doesn't know, she isn't involved. I'll say it again. If she doesn't know, she isn't involved. Throw every other piece of evidence for and against her in the trash. If she doesn't know, she isn't involved"
The one thing we know is that if Katherine is involved, she knows instantly, immediately, without questioning, the undercover is talking about her - it is not a puzzle she has to solve
Judge, Jury, Prosecution ... no one has another explanation for why she doesn't know.
Am I missing something - because I didn't pick up anything particularly incriminating in that recording......!
Yes you're missing a lot. For starters, Katie lied during the first trial about this whole convo. Why do people lie?
They sure are concerned for a crime they supposedly they didn't commit.
I agree. He didn't say anything incriminating. But the cops and DA must have more. You know how they keep a lid on other evidence before a trial. They must have more! You know how FL is when it comes to murder.
A real privilege to be Katie's lawyer. It's not every day that you get to defend a completely innocent person
You PROB are either a paid BOT (reputation defense firm) or are not fit to comment based on available evidence.
Yah, right.
Defund the Police
Law enforcement's goal for the bump was to generate conversation between two co-conspirators in a murder-for-hire, but they achieved exactly the opposite
What law enforcement get, what we hear in the wire taps and restaurant recording, is two people never once talking about the murder or related topics. Katie, obviously, because she wasn't involved, so has no knowledge of the murder, and Charlie thinks this is people extorting his family for reasons he can't work out
Because Katie's name is mentioned by the undercover during the bump, Charlie has no understanding that the note, this guy (the undercover) is actually related to the murder of Dan Markel
Law enforcement unknowingly framed Katie for the murder.
@@ladycymbelineagreed or one of the Adelsons or Katie's friends/family
Capelman is weak. Need a stronger prosecutor
Sean she got the job done
@@josephinecoale7204 yes after two tries and had Katie not testified Katie would've been on a beach sipping Pina colada
Katie's life has been destroyed by law enforcement. They simply didn't think about the implications and consequences that mentioning her name during "The Bump" would have for and on her and how diseased the case would become from this one act of thoughtlessness
Throwing Katie into the mix also makes things extremely confusing for Charlie because he knows she wasn't involved, so maybe the note wasn't even about the murder, he's thinking
He needs to find out if Katie had anything to do with the note or indeed has anything to do with these people ...
... In Charlie's mind:
"Is the note about the murder or something else entirely? If it's about the murder, why did the guy mention Katie?
"The guy deliberately mentioned Katie to mom, so it must have something to do with Katie, but what? What has Katie got to do with anything?"
He has a thousand questions to answer and the only way he's going to even begin answering them is by phoning Katie, probing, using and manipulating her. He's not phoning her as a coconspirator, he's phoning her on a discovery quest
And to think that Charlie wouldn't have even phoned Katie, wouldn't have even thought to phone Katie, if they hadn't dropped her name
What a mess, what a nightmare for Katie
Yeah and she was found Guilty!!! Justice for Dan
And she is guilty !! The jury went with the evidence. Sorry to disappoint you!
A nightmare she created. Guilty.
You are an Adelson shill...Shameful
Who is this guy maybe you should form a free Kathie foundation
Wendi, Harvey and Donna Adelson not involved in the murder. This was simply Charlie going rogue in protection of his sister and dislike of his brother-in-law
Luis Rivera the one solicited as hitman through Charlie's underworld (drug) connections, Sigfredo Garcia, Luis' unlucky friend, who went on a roadtrip and found himself in the middle of a murder-for-hire .. and Katie not involved at all
Katie not involved? 🤣 that is the most ridiculous comment I’ve heard
BRAVO , hit the headlines ! You are soooooo knowledgeable about the DM murder case . You should sign in as a witness.
@@tjjay2438 You only have to hear Luis' laughable money drop story to know he's talking bs about all of it including Katie's involvement
Sigfredo's level of knowledge and involvement must also be seriously questioned. We can't just assume that he was a willing participant or even knew Luis' plans on either trip
@@hittheheadlines2942 just so weird...you must be a lawyer that makes reverse blame scenarios for a living. Your'e saying Louis was the lead man and it was just by coincidence that Sigfredo was hitchiking on the side of the road when big bad Louis picked him up. Sigfredo took this unknown ride with a future killer. Pardon me, but no snow jobs please we haven't even got over the celebration of Charlie Manson being arrested and your throwing garbage at us. It is sad because you wish lawyers would just do their job but they are such big science-fiction script writers instead. There are good lawyers and some real bad....my opinion they are the bad.
It's like a game of chess; six years of Prosecutors coaxing Katie into a deal. They must have hoped Charlie's arrest, neatly timed before the trial, would break her
The problem is, Katie is innocent, she wasn't involved. It's impossible for her to make a deal. What is she supposed to do, make stuff up?
I guess we'll find out now, won't we
@@dandawayMTL Don't look to the wire taps for the truth. They were tainted from the very beginning when the undercover mentioned Katie's name to Donna Adelson
The evidence is in the two testimonies in the first trial. When I listened to and watched Katie I only saw honesty and sincerity in her storytelling. When I listened to Luis I realised that he was just telling us a pack of lies. From the car hire to the phone call from the car after the shooting to seeing Wendi walking with her kids to the muddled money drop story, you knew it was all made up
I don't struggle with her guilt or innocence anymore as I did when I first started following the case a couple of years ago. I know she wasn't involved. Wire taps, bank records, car hire, cell tower data, Lexus, breast implants, dental work, all of it ... doesn't even qualify as circumstantial evidence
@@dandawayMTL Really encouraging to get your message, appreciate so much such a considered response and thoughts
It really is a mind bender this case. Same as you I've somehow been drawn into it above all others
About Wendi:
Harvey, Donna and Wendi were not involved. This was simply Charlie hating on his ex brother-in-law for all the grief that he caused his sister. Listening to Donna's emails to Wendi, they weren't full of malice, just a resolve for Wendi to fight her corner
Wendi came across false in that initial interrogation, totally. But I think she was just having a hard job of actually feeling emotion for what had happened in the moment and forced it a little
There is no role for Wendi if Katie is innocent ... according to Luis it was Wendi and Katie colluding, organising best times to carry out the hit, location of DM on the day and arranging payment. Luis made a terrible job of keeping his story straight regarding Wendi (and Katie) through the various depositions and meetings with detectives. It seemed as though as he learnt more from detectives and media, he added to and changed his story to suit
Luis' story about seeing Wendi with the kids on 17th July was an attempt to throw her into the mix. The more people he could implicate the better for him
In trial, during his testimony, whenever he implicated Katie in his story, he would cover his face, wipe his eyes, cough and put his hand up to his mouth - he just couldn't handle lying about her when she was sitting right in front of him
Georgia Cappleman, the lead prosecutor, has travelled so far down the wrong road now chasing Katie
Chris deCoste, Katie's lawyer summed it up so well in his closing about the Prosecution team:
"... they can't see it, they can't understand it, that she's innocent, she wasn't involved"
