Charlie and his mother are running from their subpoenas, if I understood wendi when they questioned her , they were suppose to be there but they are avoiding getting served. Seems like their many lawyers could accept service or this is a trick up their sleeves., 2 many murderers still in south beach living it up. Katie was snippy and seemed bothered by the whole procedure. “Who me?” Thrilled she was found guilty. I think that picture of her and Wendi and someone on the beach was Wendi laying the foundation of making Katie think she was one of them and would be helping out a friend or future sister-in-law, if she could arrange the hit and the Adelsons would be indebted to her.

Of course she was involved and likely guilty but if u knew nothing about this case as a jury is supposed to it's all about exuding confidence and beleiveability as a witness or suspect in this case and perception the jury has of your testimony and she is confident and decisive in her responses and doesn't get rattled. Picture yourself in her position knowing you're guilty and you got to put on a believable act to 12 strangers answering pressing questions u can't tell the truth about because you're guilty. These people are going to decide your fate. If you think you could come off as confident in this situation on the stand then you're lieing. If she tripped up or was not confident she would probably be in jail now. She held her own up there. It has to be respected. You can convict someone of murder based on circumstantial evidence which is basically all they had on her. To the layman that's listened to podcasts and watches RUclips 20/20 shows like you and I yes it's evident she's guilty but if u went in cold like the jury could you take someone's life based on phone calls alone that point to her guilt but without a smoking gun so to speak. They just didn't have enough to convict her for murder. They just don't have strong enough evidence on her being involved unless adelsons have to put her in as part of it. IMO the biggest reason she had a hung jury is due to her testifying here when she didn't have to in addition to doing well thru cross examination and being confident. If she didn't get up there IMO she probably would have been convicted. The jury took this performance into account I'm certain of that.

Wendis godfather is/was a long time state senator(Florida), Send. Weinstein. The Adelson and Weinstein family are 40 year close friends, with Wendi, Charlie grew up &have friendships with Weinstein children. As a long time state Senator, even if he had retired(or had passed away)at the time of Dan's murder and Adelson being suspected of involvement, there would no doubt be govt connections which the Adelsons can utilize and had probably been given preferential treatment and protection. At the time of the murder the FL Attorney General had publicly stated that the Adelsons we're not to have search warrants served by the DA in Tallahassee, he basically was antagonistic to law enforcement and blocked investigation of the Adelsons, for a few years until he either stepped down, died, was removed from his position...idk. But I do know that that particular person was a roadblock to proceedings to pursue the Adelsons as suspects in Dan's murder. But that person is no longer in that position and perhaps why the State prosecutors had finally been able to get an indictment for Charlie. However, the Adelsons probably still have connections in the FL govt and that's why she was so obnoxiously defiant at the prosecutor audacity to suggest that it's a possibility. Send Weinstein's son was/is a long time close family friend, and was Charlie's lawyer up until a few weeks ago.

UPDATE: 4/20/2022 Wendy and Charlie have both been indicted on 1st degree murder, solicitation of 1st degree murder and conspiracy to 1st degree murder. Being held without bond, presumably until trial. Finally hope justice will prevail.

I think this was a significant issue for the 2 or 3 jurors who held out for not guilty. It was a wise move for the prosecution to arrest Charlie before the retrial, because if he remained uncharged the jury probably would have deadlocked again.

@Punisher The first judge ( the one here in this first trial) had many hearings before the trial started and found that the Adlesons were not paying for her attorneys. That's why her financials were discussed at length in cross.

There has been a lot of hiding the ball from the defense as to where that money is coming from and it does not have to be revealed. At one point it was said to be some obscure relative of Katie's (NOT). Neither Katie nor anyone in her family have the kind of money it costs for this defense @ a 200k price tag PER trial (total ~400k). Definitely paid for by the Adelsons.

If I was arrested for Murder and I'm innocent, I would go over and over in my head what happened, what they say happened, etc so that I could go into court prepared and beat it. Details are the key.
Why does she always act like she doesn't understand any question asked of her? That just gets under my skin and I would find her guilty based on that alone. To me her reactions to questions are an admission of guilt. She has the audacity to be a college graduate and doesn't have an understanding of a 3rd grader. If she is educated enough to successfully lie on her tax returns, she should be able to answer questions and recall what has occurred her in her past. Not only does she pretend she doesn't understand each question, she also pretends not to listen very well and she is always confused about everthing. She was smarter than she would like anyone to know.
The strangers thing occurred to me, all the time she couldnt recall anything while the prosecutor asked questions and everything she asked, she said I can't remember, she never did that with the defense and she answered every question and recalled everything the defenses asked. My impression is she seems incredibly inconvenienced by the questioning of the prosecutor. Her impertinent disposition along with showing absolutely no remorse bought her a severe sentence.

This woman is a vile, entitled, sarcastic criminal! She believed she could outsmart the law, which is why she is acting in this manner. I'm just relieved that she was sentenced to life in prison.
Here's the facts. Wendy mentioned she hoped Dan would die so she can move on. Wendy kept stressing the fact that Dan is mentally destroying her. Now comes Wendy's mother adding a lot of her own drama to the scenario which then sparked charlies temper. Wendy and the mother created a monster in charlie so then Charlie was hinting to Wendy he was going to hire a Hitman to kill her ex husband more than once. Charlie was feeling Wendy out and she never told Charlie not to do that so then Charlie put the plan in motion. Charlie asked Katie to find someone to kill Dan so his sister can take her kids to Miami. Charlie then offers $100,000 in cash which is a lot of money to Katie, Sigfredo and Luis yet chump change for Charlie. Katie tells Sigfredo she has a big job from a woman " Wendy " and it pays $100,000 so Sigfredo makes the call to Luis. All the while these two guys think they are killing a guy for his ex wife, but in reality it was for Charlie. Now Katie is the only person who can put Charlie in prison, but she will not because there's a bigger paycheck for her. Charlie promised her at least $250,000 cash if she keeps her mouth shut. I wouldn't doubt if the pay day is higher than that because how much is charlies freedom worth? She's probably getting $1 million dollars because the family was willing to pay Dan that much to sign over the kids to Wendy.
That makes sense on why she's keeping quiet. I couldn't for the life of me realize why she wouldn't just give him up knowing she's gonna get convicted. She's probably banking on a light sentence being a woman and receiving money once she's out/for her family.

This testimony is so fascinating. She definitely has a criminal mind. I just don’t understand how as a immigrant who comes from a poor country with all the opportunities afforded to her especially as a Asian woman she would associate with the criminal underworld in the first place.
So many come, immigrants, & find ways to scam the system. In my town, people in mansions, their kids receive free lunch cards. Meanwhile I worked my whole life, had 4 kids, divorced, developed debilitating arthritis which took me out of ability to work. Here testimony during this first trial was so much better. She was confident and did not appear nervous or rattled. During her retrial, she did a complete 180. She appeared nervous even under direct examination, and she had trouble answering the most basic questions. However, Sarah Dugan’s cross was also much more thorough. She went through the wiretaps, money transactions, employment records etc and asked Katie about all the ‘coincidences.’ Georgia failed to challenger her with a lot of the tough questions during the first trial.

Of course she was involved and likely guilty but if u knew nothing about this case as a jury is supposed to it's all about exuding confidence and beleiveability as a witness or suspect in this case and perception the jury has of your testimony and she is confident and decisive in her responses and doesn't get rattled. Picture yourself in her position knowing you're guilty and you got to put on a believable act
to 12 strangers answering pressing questions u can't tell the truth about because you're guilty. These people are going to decide your fate. If you think you could come off as confident in this situation on the stand then you're lieing. If she tripped up or was not confident she would probably be in jail now. She held her own up there. It has to be respected. You can convict someone of murder based on circumstantial evidence which is basically all they had on her. To the layman that's listened to podcasts and watches RUclips 20/20 shows like you and I yes it's evident she's guilty but if u went in cold like the jury could you take someone's life based on phone calls alone that point to her guilt but without a smoking gun so to speak. Her testimony her I am certain played a part in the mistrial.

They just didn't have enough to convict her for murder. They just don't have strong enough evidence on her being involved unless adelsons have to put her in as part of it. IMO the biggest reason she had a hung jury is due to her testifying here when she didn't have to in addition to doing well thru cross examination and being confident. If she didn't get up there IMO she probably would have been convicted. The jury took this performance into account I'm certain of that.

Wendis godfather is/was a long time state senator(Florida), Send. Weinstein. The Adelson and Weinstein family are 40 year close friends, with Wendi, Charlie grew up &have friendships with Weinstein children. As a long time state Senator, even if he had retired(or had passed away)at the time of Dan's murder and Adelson being suspected of involvement, there would no doubt be govt connections which the Adelsons can utilize and had probably been given preferential treatment and protection. At the time of the murder the FL Attorney General had publicly stated that the Adelsons we're not to have search warrants served by the DA in Tallahassee, he basically was antagonistic to law enforcement and blocked investigation of the Adelsons, for a few years until he either stepped down, died, was removed from his position...idk. But I do know that that particular person was a roadblock to proceedings to pursue the Adelsons as suspects in Dan's murder. But that person is no longer in that position and perhaps why the State prosecutors had finally been able to get an indictment for Charlie.
However, the Adelsons probably still have connections in the FL govt and that's why she was so obnoxiously defiant at the prosecutor audacity to suggest that it's a possibility.
Send Weinstein's son was/is a long time close family friend, and was Charlie's lawyer up until a few weeks ago.

I think this was a significant issue for the 2 or 3 jurors who held out for not guilty. It was a wise move for the prosecution to arrest Charlie before the retrial, because if he remained uncharged the jury probably would have deadlocked again.

There has been a lot of hiding the ball from the defense as to where that money is coming from and it does not have to be revealed. At one point it was said to be some obscure relative of Katie's (NOT). Neither Katie nor anyone in her family have the kind of money it costs for this defense @ a 200k price tag PER trial (total ~400k). Definitely paid for by the Adelsons.

If I was arrested for Murder and I'm innocent, I would go over and over in my head what happened, what they say happened, etc so that I could go into court prepared and beat it. Details are the key.

Why does she always act like she doesn't understand any question asked of her? That just gets under my skin and I would find her guilty based on that alone. To me her reactions to questions are an admission of guilt. She has the audacity to be a college graduate and doesn't have an understanding of a 3rd grader. If she is educated enough to successfully lie on her tax returns, she should be able to answer questions and recall what has occurred her in her past. Not only does she pretend she doesn't understand each question, she also pretends not to listen very well and she is always confused about everthing. The strangers thing occurred to me, all the time she couldnt recall anything while the prosecutor asked questions and everything she asked, she said I can't remember, she never did that with the defense and she answered every question and recalled everything the defenses asked. Wendy and the mother created a monster in charlie so then Charlie was hinting to Wendy he was going to hire a Hitman to kill her ex husband more than once. Charlie was feeling Wendy out and she never told Charlie not to do that so then Charlie put the plan in motion. Charlie asked Katie to find someone to kill Dan so his sister can take her kids to Miami. Charlie then offers $100,000 in cash which is a lot of money to Katie, Sigfredo and Luis yet chump change for Charlie. Katie tells Sigfredo she has a big job from a woman " Wendy " and it pays $100,000 so Sigfredo makes the call to Luis. All the while these two guys think they are killing a guy for his ex wife, but in reality it was for Charlie. Now Katie is the only person who can put Charlie in prison, but she will not because there's a bigger paycheck for her. Charlie promised her at least $250,000 cash if she keeps her mouth shut. I wouldn't doubt if the pay day is higher than that because how much is charlies freedom worth? She's probably getting $1 million dollars because the family was willing to pay Dan that much to sign over the kids to Wendy.

And if it is about paying attention to detail you still have to ask the question why did Garcia give him an additional 2k? If Luis found to be the shooter he may not have got the deal he did. This is the man that killed for grassing but did the same to his childhood friend. There certainly no honour amongst thieves, so I do not find everything Luis says as credible.

This testimony is so fascinating. She definitely has a criminal mind. I just don’t understand how as a immigrant who comes from a poor country with all the opportunities afforded to her especially as a Asian woman she would associate with the criminal underworld in the first place.
So many come, immigrants, & find ways to scam the system. In my town, people in mansions, their kids receive free lunch cards. Meanwhile I worked my whole life, had 4 kids, divorced, developed debilitating arthritis which took me out of ability to work. My kids never were able to receive free lunch despite how truly difficult our own hardships were. It bothers me.

Here testimony during this first trial was so much better. She was confident and did not appear nervous or rattled. During her retrial, she did a complete 180. She appeared nervous even under direct examination, and she had trouble answering the most basic questions.
However, Sarah Dugan’s cross was also much more thorough. She went through the wiretaps, money transactions, employment records etc and asked Katie about all the ‘coincidences.’ Georgia failed to challenger her with a lot of the tough questions during the first trial.
Why didn’t she just take the 7 year deal. She would be out by now… ?

Katherine could have avoided making snide remarks or questions what she knows! It good that the attorney lady corrected her. These young women Katherine Magabanua and June Umchinda got themselves mixed in an strange and odd situation and unusual circumstances. Katherine had been caught in the twisted relationship with someone who is a user-friendly to you! Who can not be trusted!
