  • I’m very excited to highlight a new watch to the collection. After 9 months of waiting, my Sinn U50 Professional has finally arrived. I hope you enjoy this video where I highlight the many features of the Sinn U50, and in particular, the special features found in this Limited Edition version. I might ruffle some feathers when I say this… But the U50 has better specs than the Rolex Submariner, the Tudor Pelagos, and the Omega Seamaster.
    Don’t get me wrong, those watches have better movements… But when highlighting case composition, depth rating, and watch thickness the Sinn has them beat. Who said all the best watches were made in Switzerland. Looks like Germany is catching up.

    I’ve been wearing a U1 blue for years. I work with my hands in a ruff profession and it still looks new. Still works like new. Sure, it weighs a half pound but I like it. It’s cool they made the U50 for people with smaller wrists.

    • @PocketWatchTime
      @PocketWatchTime  3 месяца назад +1

      Exactly. I can wear the U1… but I know it’s a little oversized for my wrist. The U50 is perfect for me. And like you… mine still looks mint condition.

    Superb watch, great video. I love the cololour scheme, I'd just love the colour scheme on a non tegimented U50 SDR. I like having a date, flat crystal and normal crown position.....perfection.

      The Pro version has very subtle changes. Like you… I like pretty much all the versions. But why no tegiment?… It’s such a great feature.

    I use a u50 as it was intended - as a diving tool and back up to my digital equipment. It’s perfect. Beautifully engineered, legible underwater and confidence inspiring. Perfect luminescent in night diving. I know or at least feel, that it won’t let me down no matter the conditions. I was initially disappointed by the weight of the watch, but when I put it on my wrist, the weight disappeared. I put this down to German engineering! And as for the red bits on the hands - why not?! It’s a bit of precise German humour! Enough to raise a chuckle. Very very pleased with it and expect to take it on every dive. Frankly, I’m so smitten by the watch that I’ve continued wearing it as a daily and am giving my long service Rolex Explorer (114270) a break!

    • @PocketWatchTime
      @PocketWatchTime  Год назад +1

      Cheers. I agree - it’s one of my favorite watches. Plus, not having to be concerned I’ll scratch it up makes it even more enjoyable to wear.

    • @davidmorais2394
      @davidmorais2394 Год назад +1

      PS - now that I have used it regularly, there is 1 criticism. The rotating bezel is sensitive to sea salt and has to be washed thoroughly after every dive or it sticks. And it’s stiff to rotate underwater. Could just be mine, but that’s a flaw for a precision tool.

    • @PocketWatchTime
      @PocketWatchTime  Год назад +1

      Interesting. Have you had that problem with other dive watches? New territory for me - I can’t equalize pressure in my ears so no diving for me.

    • @davidmorais2394
      @davidmorais2394 Год назад +1

      @@PocketWatchTime I don’t have any other dive watch except for a Yema Superman (which is not practical at all). So can’t really compare but I’ve handled rolexes and tudors and on land the bezel rotation seem smoother.

    • @davidmorais2394
      @davidmorais2394 Год назад +1

      Similarly with the Seikos - smoother bezel rotation

      You’ve got a keen eye my friend. 😀 I was wondering if anybody would notice that in the video. Sanjay & Toran we’re always nice. I guess the audience thought I was too “elite”. Hopefully they don’t realize the host has a $14k GS and Toran has a Sub now. I don’t even have a Sub. 🤪
      I’m loving the Sinn. So happy they finally released a LE that pushed all the buttons. The crown placement looks better in person - I might have to apologize to all the Seamaster owners with “wart” HE valves. An 8 o’clock crown could be a better alternative. I wonder if any brand out there does that.
      Thanks for watching. 🙌🏼

      I’ve got bad news… I don’t know if they’ll ever make the pro again. After the U1 was launched they did a pro version. It’s never been repeated. The U50 was released and they made a pro version too. As of today… No re-release.
      But just in case they plan on releasing something similar… I joined the Sinn mailing list. I got an email saying it was coming out in a couple days. And it’s a good thing I read the email… This version of the watch sold out in a couple hours.

    Thanks for a U50 Pro review (now I know what differs between Pro and no). I'm not a professional diver but I wear a U50S on black tegimented H bracelet and swim/snorkel daily. Of the differences I think dome crystal makes most sense because AR flat crystal only affords a 100-120 degree view in water. 10 o'clock crown position doesn't because I'm a faithfully right handed person and 4 position hasn't chafed me one bit. And I actually like date on my daily. I previously hate bracelet and dread black coated anything but Sinn black tegimented is amazingly robust and the bracelet just looks right (because it's made only for black tegimented Sinn's and nothing else). Unlike you I was underwhelmed initially by U50 (I collect black tegimented Sinn's) but for the past few months it's running exactly the same as time.gov so I'm shockingly impressed.

    • @PocketWatchTime
      @PocketWatchTime  Год назад

      I was initially afraid of the black coating… but due to the tegimented steel underneath the coating seems particularly strong. I haven’t seen the full DLC bracelet before… I’ll have to check that out.
      I agree most of the “pro“ improvements are a bit gimmicky. I do like the less text on the dial and the domed crystal. The date - I can either have or not have… not that important to me. The 10 o’clock crown is pretty silly 😜 … but, it’s different and I usually like different. 😁
      Glad you enjoyed the review.

      So true. I recently purchased the bracelet… I still haven’t installed it - I want to have the option. The clasp definitely is not as heavy as the clasp on the rubber. They also make a small butterfly clasp for the rubber which is pretty nice.

    This is one Sinn should consider in their regular lineup. What i always thought of Sinn was that they play on tactical use rather than charm. I don't mind that, but the overuse of red makes no sense from a tactical standpoint so for me it seems like red is a design choice rather than being practical. It's the red on the bezel that annoys me the most. Looks out of place.

    • @PocketWatchTime

      I agree. I was looking for one of the toned down Sinn models when this model released. Seemed a perfect choice for me. Good news… They do release new models every once in a while.

    Dang. The Pro versions are beautiful watches. I regret not purchasing a U50P as I currently have three other Sinn X50 pieces: the U50-T (with both color bezels), U50S BS & T50GB.
    The U50-T has become my daily beater, the S BS is a great Winter watch and the T50GB is my weekend warrior watch, haha. But I feel that the U50P could have been the piece to replace my U50-T.
    I have a feeling that there will be a T50 Professional release within the next 12 months =)

    • @PocketWatchTime

    • @NippleSauce
      @NippleSauce Год назад +1

      @PocketWatchTime Not that I know of. But a T50 Professional would be a pretty cool idea as I really do love the domed glass on the T50GB. And while the T50 pieces currently have the same blue lume applied to the minute hand and the bezel's triangular marker, I personally think that it would look slightly better if everything was given the same blue lume coating.

    • @PocketWatchTime

      @@PocketWatchTime Are you still rocking this watch daily or frequently?
      I might get one and then sell either my U50-T or my new T50GB... I feel bad selling my U50-T as I happen to like the red sections on the hands...and I also like the date wheel. But I love the lume and the crown placement comfort of the U50P... But, it would become my daily beater if I got rid or my U50-T....which is why I'm so indecisive, haha. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    • @PocketWatchTime
      @PocketWatchTime  10 месяцев назад +2

      @NippleSauce Absolutely still loving my U50P. My suggestion would be… If you can find one at a good price, buy it. Then you can make up your mind if you want to keep all three or maybe sell off your T. I’m not sure how available these are around the market… So, if you see one, and the price is right, I’d act fast.
