    I've had this exact fork laying around for quite a while with the expectation that I'd service it eventually. I believe that eventually has come!! Huge thanks for the tutorial m8

    Nice work man 👍🏻 I’ve rebuilt the same fork as well as a manitou answer 2. Glad your elastomers where still some what in tact. My manitou had melted elastomers (had to dissolve to get it all out.. so slow) and my quadra’s elastomers where disintegrated so I was just picking out crumbs but of elastomer (faster then the melted issue but still tedious)
    Was super happy with both and amazed with how good they felt after. I just recently took my GT Panterra that has the quadra 21R up and down one of my local trails and had so much fun. I don’t think iv ever smiled so much on a bike before.

      I've done a set of Manitou Magnum before but I've not had chance to use them on a build yet. Soon though! Very soon!

    I like this topic, because good sus forks aren't cheap.
    I need to try to apply the same method to a seat post I've been tolerating on my commuter.

      The old elastomer forks are really simple to work on. If they're badly corroded though (like the one original to this bike) it can make getting them apart nearly impossible.

    Thanks for another excellent video. I've got a pair of Rockshox IndySLs. The elastomers seem OK, but there is axial play between the stanchions and the lowers. Do they have bushes, and, if so, can you tell me how to replace them? Ta.

      I couldn’t comment on that exact model. Some I’ve seen have the wiper seal and then a small bushing underneath but I’m not sure if that’s replaceable.

    Wow, best tutorial I have seen by far! Thanks for actually showing how the stack is ordered, too. Quick question: how come the stacks were inserted each in two pieces rather than one whole piece? Is it only because it would be cumbersome to attempt to pick up an insert a full stack?

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  Год назад +1

      Pretty much yes. You can drop the full stack in one go but it was just easier to go in two.

    Why not suspension correct the fork elastomers to 0mm, it will work much better 😀

      @@MonkeyShred sorry for the mystery 😀 what I have done with a few 90's Rock Shox and RST forks is that I have made them fully rigid. Love the 90's look but they ride so nice fully rigid that unless a marzocchi, I usually convert them rigid.
