Just resurrected a pair, a dropout had come unglued and bodged a pair with parts off another, not the same model, brake cable rocker had different fitting but most other stuff swapped ok. Seals are knackered so full service needs doing soon, but easypeasy as you have demonstrated. Mine gets raced on still (old Saracen Kili) so gets hammered . Great vid. Cheers.
Yeah I've got to admit... I forgot about the two HUGE bar clamps I have clamped to the rafters of my garage.... They could work. I thought about a ratchet strap too but I didn't have one of those handy.
Be careful using brake cleaner because they can damaged some of the plastic parts if you’re not careful. I found rubbing alcohol works good as well. Let me know when you find those seals. I need some too. Love your work. 👍👍
I like the look of the pace but would be worried about using a 30 year old aluminium fork because of stress fractures, it either having them or getting one in future. What would be a good cromoly option for a 95 Saracen Tange cromo frame?
Great video as always, thanks. Could you use one of those ratcheting luggage straps if you didn't have access to a vice? Or maybe a woodworking G-clamp?
Yeah! I actually completely forgot the fact I have two HUGE bar clamps hanging up in the rafters of my garage. I've also got a ratchet strap now to try that

Good to hear the bike is still getting raced too. That’s awesome
How about compressing the fork with a clamp or ratchet strap?
Came here to suggest the exact same thing.
@@keithschrack Me too.

It's all linked in the description Teve! Both from Pace and from John.

I guess you could just get a low travel modern fork? Airbike. SR Suntour. Something like that.
Donde se pueden conseguir el kit incluido los guardapolvos. Gracias

Why do I never read the comment below mine! Sorry mate.
@@AgencyScum For all I know, the fault is mine. Have a great Xmas!

Get a G clamp mate. I remember working on my RC36s with the " downhill " 20mm elastomer extension back in the day....bloody nightmare!
You know what I realised.... I had two BIG bar clamps, clamped to the roof of my garage.... typical!
Is elastomer better than spring?
Nah. I wouldn’t say so.
an automotive spring compressor maybe?
The ones I have wouldn't be big enough. No where near.
Never replies too messages mupet
Who doesn’t?
Having mixed feelings about picking up a Pace equipped bike tomorrow 🥲
YOU CAN DO IT
