Paper effects have been super popular in the music video space for a long time now but were quite tedious to create. Things have changed and so today in this tutorial you'll learn how to create one of the craziest paper rip transitions & effects ever - super simple without and third party plugins, right in DaVinci Resolve 18!

It looks like when you add the paper overlay it affects the video behind it. How do I only add the overlay to just the subject and not the entire background as well?
Yeah, that‘s a stylistic choice! Just merge the paper overlay into the fusion comp with the mask and it‘ll only affect this
Thanks for the video. There is a question. what should I do if the paper edge effect cannot be applied in the Edit tab? Only through the Fusion tab? Thank you in advance
Why it cannot be applied on the edit page?
I don't know, I have a free version of the program. When adding an effect, I can't even edit it in the edit tab. Only through fusion using the merge node.@@SebastianFriedrichVisuals
@@flamastergaming6467 should actually work equally fine in the free version as this is not limited to the studio version. Make sure you select „effects“ in your inspector window
When i search the effects in edit tab or fusion tab im not able to find paper edge? Any tips?
Are you on Resolve 18 or higher?
It should be ‚effects‘ - ‚effects‘ - ‚paper edge‘
When we are compositing the paper crumble clip and choose "multiply", then it affects the entire image/screen. Not just our fusion animation. It's a fine detail and not very noticeable in your clip, but in my project its very visible. Do you happen to have a quick fix for this? I'm thinking of something like in photoshop where you tell the effect to only apply to the layer directly below, lol. But no clue how to do it in Davinci. It's not important, but maybe there is something you know. Good video though. Cheers.
If you just want it to just affect the fusion clip, just merge the crumpled paper into the fusion clip
