The trial was based on Big Little Lies (you can hear Mrs. Hart says it reminds her of “Huge Teeny Lies”). In an interview Jac Schaeffer talks about it as one of her inspirations. The idea is that while they are not actually witches they’re a modern “coven” as they are a group of women scheming, which is pretty cool! Definitely also plays into the type of witch Jennifer is/the women she sells to.
Exactly! I’d also say mixed with Desperate Housewives and Revenge (also 2 Disney properties) and other women-led domestic dramas, with some jabs at Real Housewives with the plastic surgery side effects.
@@CL12356 I never hear anyone make a Revenge reference that show was so good the first season. Until it wasn't. 🥴
They didn't use sharon hair in the potion, so she died even after drinking it
I have heard that. Poor Sharon, the last few years have been a kick to the teeth for her. First Wanda, then her husband passed away and now this. The lady just wanted to go to a party.
Did she even drink it? Don't remember seeing them put it down her throat
@@Guimhj I know they tried but I'm not sure if she could swallow by then.
@@Guimhj they at least tried, but if she didn't they wouldn't be surprised to see her dead
That's a great catch. Random stranger on the internet
I think that each house will be themed based on the personality of the witch whose expertise was being tested, in this case Jennifer Kale. We’ve seen that she sells GOOP-like lifestyle products, and this house definitely feels like it could be Gwyneth Paltrow’s summer home.
Big Costal Grandmother vibes
Absolutely the right vibe, but I think they were going for a Nancy Meyers movie, the colors and costumes were exactly what they'd wear and Mrs. Harts comment of "Bury me in that kitchen" elaborate kitchens are a staple of Nancy Meyers movies.
It's even got her products in it
Not to mention the reaction looking like too much Botox, felt very Desperate Housewives
To expand on this, in her horror scene, we see her get her head held underwater, by the doctor that seemingly sealed her magic, so it would make sense that her Fear is water, and drowning, thus the water closing in, but shes also obviously the Water mentioned in the Witches Road Song
The witches having to crawl through an oven at the end was brilliant, it’s such a clever but slightly more niche reference to Hansel and Gretel!
I think Jennifer was scared of the fact that without magic, she might not be able to do much as a witch. This is to show that she clearly can, and as Agatha said, no one can take her knowledge. I enjoyed this ep :)
She also had to face the fraudulent nature of what she was selling because an ingredient that wasn’t supposed to be in those products was there and it’s important that it’s there.
If the road shows you what you fear the most, what does Jennifer fear the most? Being powerless, trapped in a world of these bougie rich folks. Her escape was realizing that her knowledge is power and they can't take that from her. I think the Wizard of Oz themed room is going to be Lilia's room since she specifically mentioned green skin and broom. lol also, RIP witch with the candy house.
13:17 No I think you completely missed the point because like Stan Lee said the best comic stories are when you put the characters in an impossible situation but you know they will find a way out, so they intentionally used the witch recipe with things like a “30 million year old thing decaying” to make the audience think wait wtf that’s impossible how are they going to find all these crazy random ingredients only to realize that oh they are all just regular household items. This was great writing.
In a sense... but they're all seasoned witches. Mrs. Hart was right there, ready to be the clueless one. Instead they skipped over the fun audience moment for no reason. What narrative gain did they have with Sharon be unconscious? She could have been helping the entire time, being the ferryman for ingredients, and passing out right before the potion was complete.
It's clever as an idea, but there was no execution. They basically just rushed the punchline with no setup.
@@Elephanthobo If she had been helping she would have either been ignored or otherwise not taken into council as much as the "seasoned witches." The entire point of her dying the way she did was due to the group being carless and not viewing her as her own, fully fleshed out person and member of group. Our main character couldn't even get her name right, and nobody at any moment thought "oh right, we need her hair too or this won't work for her." They all forgot about her until it was too late. This would have been a lot harder to get across had they been running around with her, bantering about organic vs synthetic skincare products. Her slipping into unconsciousness quite directly allowed her to slip from everyone's conscious mind. As a viewer, I'm sure many of us were thinking "wait, is anyone going to check on her?" and the answer was "no, not until they took care of themselves first." It's not that all of these people are just evil, but that each are, in their own ways, singular focused on themselves....which is a problem when you are supposed to work together as a group. So, as far as answering the question of what narrative the events playing out the way they did offered, that is largely the narrative.
...also, if she had just been sent to go fetch ingredients then it would have taken away from having members of the group all split off to have their own hallucinations, and show that they aren't just archetypes completely out of touch with modern society, which is a trope common with characters supposed to be 100s of years old living in the modern day.
Personally I love how they did it. All the witches there are good at their craft. They are likely to know the ingredients' "code" names, even if they wouldn't be able to put a potion.
In real life most doctors can fell what a medication does at a glance, but unless they're medications of their own specialization they wouldn't trust themselves to give it to their patients. Ir if you want to get even more specific, a doctor can know what all the components of a pill are. But only the people who make them can tell you the exact proportion and process.
I enjoyed the first two but this episode HOOKED me. I’m now obsessed. I don’t even care how it ends, I just want to relish the journey.
This series is such a banger. Pleasantly surprised.
this show sucks the hell are u watching
@@infamouseli92 sometimes I just want fun. And this is fun. Simple as that
@@infamouseli92 Why are you here, then? Do you regularly watch videos discussing stuff you already know you don't like?
The idea of people thinking "this is the worst thing to ever happen to this town" about the mayor digging some holes is absolutely hilarious considering they all get enslaved by witch.
They're setting up her connection to the Teen as a parallel to her relationship with her son, who she sacrificed for the Darkhold. She's going to save the Teen, despite the fact that he's the son of her enemy.
Agreed Coven of Chaos and House of Harkness sound better but I think Agatha All Along plays into the dark wizard of OZ vibe. The first house was designed for Jennifer. The outfits and vibe was reminiscent of her customers and store (she says this in the mirror). The theme and vibe of the next house will inform what kind of challenge they will face and which witch will need to overcome the challenge.
for instance the divination witches house will likely have some sort of future prediction puzzle
@@prixswrldoh god I wonder how wild the divination trial is gonna be
That it was Agatha all along may just mean she’s going to remain the villain she always was.
My wife and I are really enjoying this show so far. She loves the witchy aesthetic so this is right up her ally, and I just love everything Kathryn Hahn is doing. It might not go down as the best MCU show, but it's shaping up to be a solid, enjoyable ride.
And unfortunately at this point, "solid and enjoyable" feels like the highest my expectations can be set if I want to be fair to Marvel TV offerings
Sharon will never be forgotten 😭
who's Sharon?
She's off to the 90s.
Yeah but also am I really truly meant to believe that she's actually gone? Like necromancy doesn't exist? Like no one snuck out a cup of antidote? Like she's actually really truly passed away? I don't buy it
She better come back
wait, who now?
This house was meant for jennifer because it was stocked with all her bougie skincare stuff and tailored to match the bougie aesthetic she was trying to adopt, it matches her deal as its a manifestation of how her trauma caused her to turn away from "what she was meant to do" (what agatha reminds of her later) and take on this persona that's a symbol of how she was sticking herself in a rut. ostensibly her arc throughout this episode and agathas pep talk at the end reminding her of her skills is meant to turn her towards letting go of this aesthetic which was acting as a defense mechanism and get her emotionally ready to decide to become a witch again once she has the opportunity to break the curse or whatever she has on her. its a kind of learned helplessness that this house embodied that she had to confront and overcome by the end of the episode. i thought this worked pretty well.
Imagine being a witch and then someone tries to tell you their name, but the sigil comes up so you know they’re important.
Reminds me of a comic book where the Joker tried to hide a bomb from Superman by putting it in a lead box so he couldnt find it with his x-ray vision. And Superman was just like "Hey look a big mysterious lead box that I can't see through, gee I wonder where the bomb could be?".
I loved the episode i think ur overthinking it too much . . . "it will be fun" its fun right now ! About Potion and saying the complicated ingredient names, if u have studied something in depth and u know the jargon associated u usually call back the name or first definition u were taught that's why there´s Doctor jargons, Designers jargon etc and then someone asks u can u translate? and all but the blood witch are hundred year old should know their craft ----> they know what this words mean, and Jen forgetting the last ingredient: she's been poisoned and they all are having trouble with motor function stuff on top they had like 30 seconds so she cant have a bit of a foggy memory in this situation? she got nervous.
Hope Mrs Heart just died as a human and revives as a witch or smth XD.
This is exactly what I was thinking. I work in food and I have to translate a ton of things like ingredients or methods of preparation from old French terms. I can imagine someone who is reading potion recipes made 100s of years ago would recall them with the old jargon first.
yes! and every witch will know How to make potions, it's just that jennifer Specializes in them. some spells and hexes especially (in real life/lore) require ingredients too, so even a witch who never properly studied potions would know basic ingredients
Ok, hear me out;
“Teen” is Agatha’s son *and* Billy
Wanda (or someone else) used chaos magic to bring Wanda’s son to life by taking the life (and body) of Nicholas.
Maybe soul gem related magic.
seen lots of people theories this and I think it could work. it would bring Wanda and Agatha even closer from enemies to friends and give Agatha her caretaker status from the comics.
Alternative: mephisto or SOMEONE stole billy's soul in exchange for the darkhold and wanda used chaos magic to use that stolen soul to supplement her son (billy)'s incomplete soul (as she just made him up) and the amalgamation is teen
Mephisto would be the one behind all this, kinda guiding Wanda’s hand. The souls of Billy and Tommy may have come from young Nicholas Scratch, split into a set of twins. Since afaik, Tommy/Speed isn’t as relevant of a character, they can avoid introducing all that by just making Teen/Wiccan be Nicholas. The soul of hexVision could come from Simon Williams who’s in a coma after an accident. He previously had made a deal with the devil, and the accident and coma was the settling of that debt. When hexVision died, Simon wakes up. And his show could explain some of this and him moving on after a crazy experience.
Death (either an actual personification of death, or simply the concept of death and dying as an arc motif) is definitely going to play some kind of role in AAA. I dont think that the line "i hold death's hand in mine" was added to the ballad solely for dramatic effect.
Or just a dead person.
Doubt Sharon will be the last.
I thought the house is meant to be each witch’s nightmare. So this is Jennifer’s nightmare, being in a Nancy Myers-style home and looking like her customers. And the trailer indicates this might be true with the other houses/trials. The houses are meant to resemble what they hate/fear as an added bonus.
Oh shit!!!! I really just thought it was a Practical Magic homage but this is a really good interpretation and I hope it holds up!
I caught Nancy Meyers the second Mrs Hart screamed "Bury me in that Kitchen"
@@stevencooper564 oh shit what if she sorta kinda manifested her own death saying that
She even says, seeing herself in the mirror and with a tone of absolute disgust, "I look like one of my clients!"
Them killing Sharon Davis is like when villains kill a dog to show that they’re irredeemable. AND Agatha ALSO killed a dog!
Can't believe you don't remember Kitty Foreman 😢
Right like wtf!
The first escape room technically was tailored for Zasheer’s room. Immediately upon arriving she remarked that she looked exactly like one of her customers. It’s all an outward facade, hiding the truth from the public eye. (Women of an older age can tend to lean heavily on makeup & beauty fads to maintain their youth.
Zasheer is pretending to be a witch, when she is actually bound and magic-less.
To escape and survive she had to use her learned and EARNED ability to create potions
Genuinely loved this episode, the practical effects are so refreshing
Kitty Forman. How dare you, Nando.
Adventure Time called it all along, Billy was the Lich. Also RIP my favourite character (besides Agatha)
Well...now they need a new Green Witch. Good thing Aubrey's in the show
What you fear the most could mean:
1. The visions they all had
2. Jenns fear of drowning. Her vision showed her being drowned, and the house was flooding at the end.
The theme was definitely those Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon hbo shows like big little lies
Huge Tiny Lies
I don't "Teen" mentioning his parents means anything. Even if this IS Billy, which who knows honestly, wasn't his whole deal that he wasn't literally Wanda's kid but like only in spirit or something. In the comics he also had actual parents.
Basically I don't know how they'll explain it but Teen can have actual parents and also still be Wanda's kid in some Marvel way.
If he’s Blackheart and Mephisto is into sous vide that would be epic.
I mean couldnt dead, demon or agent of Mephisto all be different ways of saying the same thing? Like mephisto took his soul or whatever and warped it into being a demonic servant of some kind, seems like something he could do
I wonder if Billy & Nicholas have combined to be the teen. That Wanda did use Memphisto's essence, but she accidentally also used Agatha's son soul as well.
Either way, Wanda & Agatha will have yo learn to get along to share custody of Teen
I doubt they would merge two characters like that unless it was a plot point later on to separate them but there is nothing foreshadowing such a merge so again, I doubt it.
I’m increasingly convinced that Agatha has never actually been on the road before, she just doesn’t deny the rumors that she has
The Summer of Mephisto was a special time
Lady Death would make sense visually (the outfits, the dagger and popping up in the hallucination). As for Teen.. how about "d) all of the above"? We can make it work.. how about "Mephisto put Billy's soul into Nick's body"? Agatha suspects it's her son (very protective so far) and finds out Wanda's fake child was put into his body, loses it and gets even more villain-y.
You forget the car crash
i can't believe eric foreman is now eric orphan
😭 😭 😭
Kathryn Hahn is such a magnetic screen presence
The show has been one of the better things that marvel has put out in Disney plus so far people pre hating the show and not giving it a chance are missing out
There are still folks going out of their way to hate it.
RUclips keeps recommending them to me.
I think Cale gave the witchy names because she assumed the other witches would know.
The theme for the show is media that is targeted towards women or that center women. The first episode is true crime, this episode is dramas (desperate housewives/big little lies/etc.), one will be theatre/wicked/wizard of oz, etc.
16:26 some very specific thoughts were not shared in that moment.
I love that you are fixated on public transport infrastructure. Like that’s the thing that that breaks your suspension of disbelief!😂
i read an interview with Jac Schaeffer in EW and she basically shut down rumors of Wanda/Mephisto cameo, esp after that name drop in this episode…basically saying the same thing she said during WandaVision when we were speculating Dr. Strange/Mephisto cameos, “This is very much Agatha’s own show”
so i don’t think we’re gonna see Wanda or Mephisto.
doesnt mean he is talking about vision. billy does have actually parents who raised him and gave him the name of billy kaplan...................so when he is talking about his parents he isnt talking about the maximoffs or harkness.
This was absolutely best episode so far and Debra Jo Rupp gave one of the funniest performances I’ve saw in a TV show in a very long time she was on fire adding extra spice to every line and scene. When she screamed for the with people to help her then after being pulled out yelled, “JEEZY LOU WEEZY!” I feel outta bed laughing. Then when she took the card outta Jens hand and said “This is nice stock, double sided as well.” Hilarious writing it’s almost felt like they let her improvise a lot since it was her last episode.
But you guys are missing the important arc here where her hallucination involved Wanda and her husband choking to death, which is why when they found her dead she had a smile on her face reaching out because in her hallucination she was seeing her husband again which is such a sweet touch of storytelling nobody is noticing.
Nobody seems to have noticed either Agatha only drank the wine when Teen threatened too in place of her which showed protective motherly instincts.
This episode has me hooked, I wasn't quite sold on the first two but this one was really fun, I'm really liking the dynamic of the group now that we're getting to know them and the challenge was fun and solid, campy horror, the moment that the timer started was such a good needle drop moment.
Oh I LOVED the spooky bits, and the brevity of the scenes made it more spooky.
I feel like the mcu they may have Wiccan be Agatha’s son instead of Wanda’s. It would make the Mephisto connection easier, since she seemingly gave up her son for the Darkhold. And if the MCU isn’t planning on adapting Speed (he seems less relevant in the comics too), having him be Agatha’s could help streamline things. Otherwise he’d be the same character from the comics, just with the Agatha connection instead of Wanda. Then Wanda can return and do her thing too without them needed to have an emotional connection with the Wiccan part of the story, since it seems like Young Avengers would have their own story going on, while the Wanda arc may not involve that.
They can even connect this to Wanda’s hex kids by saying that her hex creation pulled from the soul of Nicholas Scratch, so he’s still kinda an aged up version of the WandaVision kids, but the emotional stakes would still be with Agatha. That brings up the question of who was hexVision’s soul pulled from, and maybe that’s Wonder Man. Stunt double makes a deal with the devil for Hollywood success, and then during the events of WandaVision, the bill came due and Simon was in a post stunt accident coma while his soul was inhabiting the hex.
I can understand your take on this episode maybe not pulling up to every opportunity to be like you mentioned but I think with the remaining episodes likely increasing in serious tone and risk, it'll make sense as a bridge between where we came from and what's going to happen.
Mrs. Hart/Davis would be considered the weakest link and so it does make sense she doesn't pass the first trial. It's kinda like how the 3rd HP film deepened the darkness from the tones of the first 2 films.
I also think they'll let the ground off the side of the road take Mrs. Hart/Davis' body to 'bury' her and then Rio will spring back out in the same spot.
I don't know if that means it really was her the whole time or if her green witch skills allow her to like replace the missing witch and enter the road by shortcut.
"im not gonna talk about the leaks"
*still somehow sprinkles in both things that got leaked into the video* 😂
I love how much emotional range the characters get
9:40 Asian of Mephisto
I could believe there was probably a subway linking westview to eastview. I think it’s implied that Eastview has a higher population so I could imagine maybe Eastview being the central transportation hub and then they probably attempted to link out to Westview and there just wasn’t enough demand or probably funding ran out. Or it was some big cover up for something else idk
Also, each trial is supposed to represent each of the four elements. This last one was water, hence the flooding and the emphasis on the sink. The 70’s themed one seen in the trailers is supposed to be fire (my guess). Then earth and then the scene where they’re all floating in the castle, also seen in the trailer, I think is supposed to be air.
I love that keeping in line with Wandavision, the set for this episode looks straight out of a Nancy Meyers movie, costumes and that comment of "Bury me in that kitchen" was dead on.
No pun intended.
Escape Room, so true, I hadn't thought of that!
Heavy Spoilers pointed out that Sharon never came down the chute but then her body was there, something fishy is going on alright.
They carried her body.
Looks like someone speed watches their show 💀💀💀
@@jhinwick5251 @Wico90YT No wait I remember, they carry her in but her body doesn't slide out the other end like all the others
@@jackofferman7045 Wow they didn't show the shot of her body sliding between and just skipped over it completely. Feels like a bad edit/censor than an intentional clue.
I honestly think the kid is either Billy or Nick Scratch. I could be wrong. But I know he's important somehow. He could be a plant by Rio.
Well first, I love escape rooms, so this is so much fun.. also, I love the different theming for the episodes.. this one being "big little lies" and the like.. very enjoyable.. very wandavision! ..her name was "kitty" when she died, I said "oh man who is going to explain this to Red and Eric Forman?"
It’s only the 3rd episode man. I think they will up the horror antics down the stretch.
disney should have agatha themed escape rooms in major cities (ny, la) or put them in the downtown disney. other news the house is more based off the one from the old romcom somethings gotta give which stars jack nicholson and there were also allusions to the shining as well (flooding, girl at the end of the hall)
As a fully grown adult person, I’m glad there wasn’t more horror. But I’m a scaredy cat, that was plenty for me. 😂
This was my favourite episode so I’m excited
Maybe they were going to have a (cue music)

But like below ground or something.
they been hinting he was nickolas scratch since episode 1
And not particularly subtly, I might add 😂 but I'm of the mind that he's one version of her kid and the rabbit is another (multiverse stuff) so I felt kinda vindicated hearing Jennifer say all that stuff
Red herrings
@@orionishi6737 fuck, I forgot about those 😭
Its kinda funny theres pretty often a cat on your lap in the videos and you didnt know kitty haha
Her son IS a character in the comics. Having Agatha ward her own son to keep him safe from witches/the Darkhold would make sense. Having it be Wanda's kid out of the blue would feel really weird to me but it IS really early in the series to drop foreshadowing this hard.
The theme was Big Little Lies. I think this was breadcrumbs for all of them to set up the future.
Pretty Little Liars is the house. KITTY even made a joke about it. I'm truly enjoying watching men watch this.
Big Little Lies. Girlies got a lot of shows about dishonesty 😂
So the houses are elementally themed. Like the first house is clearly water-based, but it also has to do with alcoholism (a liquid). I haven't seen the other houses, so idk, but they're clearly built around curses, or ailments, or fears the characters have, or something. Maybe Jennifer Kale's life is somehow tied to alcoholism? Or it's one of the other character's fears?
Kitty's hallucination was about Mr. Hart dying, and that involved a bottle of wine?
It has a very Wizard of Oz style of energy, so it would be wild if Meph was behind the curtain at the end.
No one cared about Mephisto until New Rockstars caused Marvel fanboy panic and we all had to witness their whining. Honestly I hope they bring him up 10 more times and he NEVER shows up. That would be the best thing ever 😍🎉
Nando is the breakdown we need... as he actually breaks it down. Marvel movies and tv shows aren’t games of Eye Spy.
Glad some people recognize the story and themes.
Regarding the Salem 7 haunting Westview, I hope we see that Wong or others from the wizard side of things show up to help save Westview. Could be a fun nod to that plan for the ending of WandaVision. And especially needed now that Agatha probably wouldn’t give af about the townsfolk so they have no protectors.
11:55 I’m going to go with she has to name it like that or the spell won’t work.
I call him “Billy Everyteen”.
"full nine" - lol! I remember when seasons ran for many months, and had 20+ episodes.
I think Nicholas scratch is going to be memphisto and this is how agatha basically becomes the character she is known for in the comics almost like a nanny , after scratching her son for the book which is powerful enough to turn him into this entity that could be just a name but a different person through time and now he is cursed to be this entity so she makes up for her greed which is why you can see teen and her building this relationship they are going to be the last two I feel that stranger things room scene here theyre wesring like hospital gowns I feel is the last scene of a big spell moment
In the first episode there were 3 people breaking the TV show illusion: "Blackheart" , the teen and that guy at the library with the burnt books. I don't think it's a stretch that they could be working together to contact Agatha, and since 2 of them have a connection to Mephisto teased, maybe that 3rd guy...
@@BougGroug but he's just the messenger (not really kidding, he was also in WandaVision, he was the postman who was actually a pizza delivery man before Wanda cast her distortion spell)
@@arbyswitch5580 hmm I didn't remember that
@@BougGroug I didn't either at first, but it was rly bugging me that I sorta recognized him but wasn't quite sure who he was so I looked it up. I think you're onto something here!!!
The burnt books are just a repsentation of all the Darkholds getting destroyed. The postman dude got nothing to do with it, he was just being mysterious.
I think the issue with saying the ingredients and the others having to translate it is because of nervousness. The time limit, the high stakes, her past. She needed a talk from Agatha to figure out the last part because of how long she hasn't thought about it. Also imagining a big potions book with hundreds of them, it's easier to remember the name in the book than the translations of the ingredients on a stressfull situation
I’m pretty sure the TV theme of this house was ‘Big Little Lies’, Sharon (Mrs. Hart) says the house reminds her of that show, ‘Huge Tiny Truths’. And it has the same amount of women in a similar well off neighborhood.
6:30 I think this episode focused on potions, and the others will go us on each of the other witches area of expertise. That’s probably the focus.
Kitty!!!! The name is kitty!!!!!
I know they made a reference to Big Little Lies in the show, but the vibe was SUPER Nancy Meyer's (the director) & Diane Keaton coded. The white turtlenecks are very Meyers & Keaton and the kicthen to "die" for is also super Meyers coded (see: Book Club, The First Wives Club, Something's Gotta Give)
Folks keep saying that Lilia is seeing "death" in her hallucination, but it looks exactly like a member of the Salem Seven to me.
13:32 The house did reveal their biggest fears wym? They all had hallucinations of their most traumatic life events.
I mean I think its Billy but it might be more complicated than that. I think that 'Blackheart' and Billy are created beings, so its like something wearing Billy. Agatha likely knows all this about Blackheart and more than we think about this Billy, intends to sacrifice him? She already knows all the trials, she is feeding them to The Road, but when she sacrifices Billy whats inside him comes out. In the comics this being is called The Demiurge.
My guy would be surprised to know how many absurd projects town folks would proposed or even start just to get some fundings from the government.
Hearing a remote small town to plan something like an underground subway system isn't too farfetched.
As a resident of North Jersey, I can confirm with authority…. Of course Central Jersey doesn’t exist.
I think it makes more sense for Teen to be Nick Scratch given the clues we’ve been getting, because how else would a teenage Billy suddenly show up in this context/timeline?
I think Teen is a regular kid from Eastview that suffered a car crashed and died at the exact moment Wanda's Hex was being dissolved. So Billy's soul attached to him, technically keeping him alive.
bringing up deadpool makes he hope we get some ryan reynolds aubrey plaza interactions
I’m pleasantly suprised at the show. I’m intrigued by the mystery and thought it would be a little more girl bossy show but it’s not. Very happy with it so far.
Nando: The joke about a subway in a comedy is unrealistic
Also Nando: *Ah yes, Gotham a city where millions of people choose to live despite The Joker, The Riddler, Ra’s al Ghul, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, Man-Bat, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Bane, Two Face, Hugo Strange, Mr Freeze etc… blow up the city every day. So realistic* 😂
Central Jersey *IS* real. It’s the corridor from NYC to Philly. Above it’s North Jersey, below is South Jersey and The Shore.
This is a great show so far.
The Salem Seven are Nicholas Scratch's children in the comics.
14:33
🖐Rio telling Agatha that she has a black heart that only beats for her is different from being named Blackheart, who is Mephisto's son in the comics. It's important to distinguish between metaphorical language and specific character references.
5:40
I just got Nora Ephron vibes from the first challenge house. Not necessarily horror-related, but something Billy might project into a mind palace. Kind of like Wizard of Oz or a Cher/Stevie Nicks-esque 70's singer.
I’m certain that Rio is Death.
Agatha hates her, presumably for taking the life of her son, and Agatha states that Rio is “not allowed” to kill her, which could be if Agatha used the Darkhold (or made a deal with Mephisto) to not be able to die, violating Rio’s laws.
Agatha also states that taking Rio’s power would kill her, feeding into that being an avatar of Death means you yourself lose your life.
Also, only Sharon knew of the expedition to the Witch’s Road as “a party” - as this is what Agatha told her it was. And in the trailer, when Rio rises from the ground during the travels on the road, she states “I heard you guys were having a party” - something that Sharon would have told her after death, as the only person that genuinely thought she was at a party.
So yeah. I think Rio is Mistress Death.
I think Teen Billy Scratch is Agatha's kid in some way. The reference to his dad cooking probably means his adopted dad, I think he got to say that in episode 2. But I am guessing they are blending Wiccan and Scratch somehow.
I think Mrs.Hart's comment about the subway isn't that insane. A lot of the US has old rail infrastructure that, after becoming more car centric, was often abandoned even if it was perfectly functional. Like my home town still has very old remnants of rail infrastructure that is now just some odd structures in the woods. Mrs.Hart seems like the kind of lady to gossip and know a lot about her town, especially considering she said she was in the Westview Historical Society. I think she was trying to make sense of the magical world she entered and thought "I never believed the ridiculous rumor about the passenger rail underground, but maybe it's real and thats what this is since I can't make sense of it."
Her name is Kitty in that 70s show, i believe short for Katherine
All the witches in the coven are tested of their knowledge of the witchcraft, which in this case is brewing potions.
Since Jennifer Kale is the Apothecary witch the coven looks up to her for guidance.
🤔My guess is that Jennifer used the traditional witchy terms instead of the modern names to give the episode a mystical & authentic halloweeny atmosphere.
I think the theme of the house was very much Jenn. It's the high end bougie house of someone who would buy her products.
