I watched your video, went and got the right pliers and had it done in about three minutes. I appreciate people like you who are willing to go to the effort of sharing information like this.
I use needle nose pliers to punch the c clip and put the ball bearings back in unless I lose one or they break or just get frustrated I use clear super putty from Home Depot work like a charm every time haha
To glue the bracket onto the window bracket instead of using the c clip to hold it sorry I know it was confusing but I struggled at a caliber collision body shop transferring one onetime and that Home Depot putty came in clutch
I just had my windshield replaced today one side of the bracket was broken so the guy who installed it just put the windshield glue on it and told me to wait 2 days before screwing on the mirror
Argh what a pain! My my late Dad’s mirror was damaged and bodged back together with superglue, by a dash-cam fitting place. I only found out cleaning it, when it all fell off and scattered parts around the interior 🙈 I’d only just lost him, and clearing / cleaning his car out was required, causing all this fuss. I was gutted as I knew how he treasured the car! (Good on Lexus for selling every tiny part inc the captured bearings separately) I had the perfect thin nosed pliers, but it still took me ages and gave me a neck ache! My main tip for fitting with screen in place, is to tie the mirror out of the way to the passenger grab handle, so it’s not nudging your hand. After several hours of frustration, I got a cheap scrap mirror from eBay. I could then practice repeatedly indoors on a table. It all comes down to spring alignment, as the thing really doesn’t seat positively!, Once I’d perfected the technique, I went out to the car and fitted the thing in 2 mins flat 🤓 It clicks into place with a positive ‘thunk’ and is rock solid. Thank goodness the headlight bulbs are easy to change 😂
Of course this would be easier with the main bracket off the windshield... After two hours I had to stop , the plastic that holds the ball bearings is cracked and I need to order new ones. But for now I unplug the original and ordered an universal with suction cup. One of the most aggravating fixes I've come across on this car. And I've done almost every repair from Struts and springs door actuators and a complete tune up with valve cover gasket replacements. Lol 👌😆
Is the "little slot" your referring to the little lip part or is it something the metal clips slides into? I replaced mines but the metal clip wont lock in place to keep the mirror sturdy
Thanks Alfredo. I don't see any screws on the rectangular bracket cover. I tried squeezing or moving side by side the rectangular plastic cover, but I was afraid to break it, so I stopped. Do I just pry the cover off? Or do you have any suggestion on the best way to remove the cover? Open to suggestion from everyone please. Thanks!
@@loxogames8023 youre most likely not gonna get it off without some glass coming with it. I got mine with some glass missing and I had to do the same from one in the junkyard just to swap in for mine
These are the worst. What was Lexus thinking with this ridiculous mirror attachment. When the engineer brought this to the table it's hard to believe everyone thought it's a great idea. They apparently did. Lol
Crappy design for sure. I had my windshield replaced, now can't touch the mirror without it falling off & dangling by the electric harness. Riding down the road... looking like a fool. Haha

Does anyone know how to actually remove the mirror button so I can install an entirely different mirror
when i bought one of my 2gs some guy uninstalled oem mirror and glued on an autozone mirror lol… it works if you’re not on coilovers
