    The distortion is almost anamorphic. Fuckin amazing video, one of the best vintage lens channels on youtube in my opinion

    Your videos have a degree of interest that a lot of other “RUclipsrs” don’t have.
    Thanks for posting this. Oh and beautiful footage mate!

    The yellow and orange filters were intended as contrast filters for monochrome film, the blue to correct the color temperature of incandescent light on daylight color film. The "clear" filter is a haze, or UV filter.

    I acquired a copy of this lens in a bulk purchase of Minolta gear but I sold it as it was not suited to my purposes. It looked like a fun lens for someone who could appreciate it's potential. You have captured some unique footage and I first noticed this lens when it was featured on the You Tube channel Vintage Optics. I do love Minolta glass and have now a collection of 11 Rokkor lenses.

    I agree, not enough real world examples out there of the new gear and old lenses are still good tools...this is inspiring, I think it’s time for me to post some footage of my canon mp-e 65mm macro adapted to my copy of the fp...the moth on moth photo to the left was taken with the mp-e lens

    Its awesome to start seeing these little lenses the some much needed recognition. I was lucky enough to build out a whole 10 lens set sticking with the MC 70s iteration. Really shocked they don't get more attention than what they do. Still trying to hunt a 17mm f/4 but prices are wild on them.

      Yeah that’s awesome!! They are solid pieces of gear. I think they have evaded popularity in the digital era due to their mount. So many vintage lenses can be easily adapted to EF but these are much harder to adapt to EF with proper functionality. But any vintage lens worth its salt can’t be a sleeper forever. Thanks for watching!

      @@shadowcultur Yea that was also my issue whenever I wanted to run my Z Cam with a EF Mount .. ended up getting a LA-CEF-MD adapter that helps convert this to EF Mount.

    Photos look ok but man, that video footage looks rough. I have this lens as well. What adapter were you using? Doesn’t look like the lens is calibrated or focusing properly. Super soft even for vintage glass. I like the video but get that thing looked at LOL.

    Love your video, getting a sigma fp soon and I´ll have this lens on my wishlist. Do you need an adapter to use it on the fp? and if so, what´s the adapter you got?

    • @shadowcultur
      @shadowcultur  Год назад

      Thank you for watching! Yes I have an adapter from a company called Urth. You need an “MD to L Mount” adapter.

    How do you connect an older minolta lens to Sony camera

    • @shadowcultur
      @shadowcultur  Год назад +1

      All you need is the proper adapter. Search for an “MD to Sony E” adapter

  • @jackprice9365

    would this lens fit on a bolex?

    • @shadowcultur
      @shadowcultur  8 месяцев назад

      I really can’t say for sure as I’m really unfamiliar with any bolex gear but I think it’s unlikely. This lens was made for 35mm film SLR Minolta cameras and it’s my understanding the Minoltas had an odd flange distance compared to the other big companies at the time

    • @shadowcultur
      @shadowcultur  8 месяцев назад

      I suggest looking for adapters. “MD to bolex” or “SR to bolex”

      This particular version is manual focus however many years later, Minolta did make an autofocus version of this lens.
