Bruh! 😅.. So good! I have a 2011 Power Wagon with a 5.7 I gotta do the water pump on! I wasn't looking forward to it AT ALL, until I watched this! The step by step was great! Great camera shots and the hilarity was fantastic! Much thanks!
Wow, i never thought id find someone that i actually liked listening to while replacing parts . Excellent job, as i have a 2012 .The fan shroud is the biggest pain in the a.. in the whole job. I thought about some modification on my fan shroud on the top part so i could take part of it off to replace the belt easier if it should ever break. The engineers never design things to be a little bit easier. Great video . Update 1 month after my original comment. I removed the fan clutch and fan shroud and replaced it with an all electric fan from a 2012 V6 Ram and bought a Diablosport Trinity Platinum tuner to adjust when the fan comes on. I also removed my AC lines as I don't use it, I removed the AC/transmission cooler and replaced it with a Mishimoto universel automatic transmission cooler. While I was at it I replaced the water pump, radiator, tensioner, idler pulley, hoses and belt. As I had 85 thousand miles on it and that's when those parts start to go. Now I have spares if needed. It's great to open the hood and see a big round AFE filter on it without that big ugly plastic box with that flat filter in it. And I can now actually see that HEMI.
The engineers in EVERY facet of life have NEVER "turned a wrench" in their lives and I think some of them get together and TRY to complicate things for us "worker bees!"
This video helped a ton! Got it done on a 2013 Ram 1500. One note, I almost made a bad mistake! The bracket that needs to be removed has a nut on the outside, THEN after removing the bracket there is another nut to remove the bolt. I didn’t realize this and began prying on the pump and probably almost snapped it.
I’m not a mechanic at all. The one hidden bolt got me. I would have just gave up but when you said just count to 12 gave me just what I needed. Thanks great video.
I almost made a mistake bc I didn’t realize there was another nut behind the bracket nut holding the bolt in. Starting keying hard on the pump, lucky it didn’t snap.

Thank you so much for this excellent video, with top-tier commentary. I tackled the water pump on my 5.7 today. This video made things appear very manageable, and indeed they were. I used that "backyard hack" (@2:40 in the video) to get the fan clutch removed. I also made a quick belt diagram as you suggested. Thank you, and keep up the excellent videos!
Great video!!! You can also take the fan shroud off with the electric fan at the same time. Before taking the fan clutch off. That way you’re not at risk of breaking the fan shroud
I’ll be tackling this this weekend I think. Pump’s been leaking for a while and it’s just getting worse. Time to stop procrastinating and get r done I guess haha.
Excellent video. Only issue I had was with the FAN REMOVAL. I ended up using a visegrip on the edges of the pully and an adjustable 1-1/2 wrench. I didn't need a hammer. And used this method to snug it up too.
I did the water pump @18fp torque and was looking online and people were saying much higher settings. I feel like your recommendations worked for you so I went for it and so far so good.

My system just started leaking coolant on 2013 Ram 5.7. I was told there had been stop leak used previously when I wanted the system flushed. Lots of fluid near water pump area. Deciding whether to tackle it myself. Replace hoses while I’m at it?
@@RustBeltAuto thanks. Just decided to go ahead and swap them out while I’m at it. Going to use a flush several times before changing out to try and get the built up gunk out of there.

Factory bolt is properly seated where I tried putting new bolt now. I appreciate the help! Got me through my first water pump change. Thanks!
@@tylergarvey6673 you can probably get a grade 8 bolt from the hardware store. Is the bolt you bought graded? There should be markings on the top of the bolt.
