This Moonphase has been so accurate and precise. I have been wearing it on my wrist since the pandemic began and it has not gained no more than 80 seconds now only off by 3 seconds. Sometimes gaining or losing 1 second in 3-7 days.
Wearing my speedy professional right now; Its my everyday watch. With its history, function, and aesthetic its my go-to answer for the "One watch for life" question. That may be cliche but its cliche for a reason
@Steve this is the third time I've tried to reply. I attached a link to a photo, and I guess it automatically deletes my comment because of that. I own the moonphase and I 100% promise it's 100m water resistant. It is literally printed on the back of the case. I can send you a photo if you like. Sales associates have no idea what they are talking about most of the time.
Old thread, but the OP was correct. The steel moon phase automatic versions of the Speedmaster are listed on Omega’s website as having 100m of WR, as are the gold and platinum versions of this watch. This is notably different from the Blue Side of the Moon in ceramic, or the Speedmaster Super Racing, or any of the DSOM versions, all of which are only 50m water resistant. Not sure why Omega went to the trouble to add WR specifically to the steel moon phase version of the Speedmaster… but it’s a welcome additional feature to have.
The Blue Side of the Moon Aventurine Moonphase is REALLY worth a look, Christian. And the 990X Omega movements are absolute powerhouses! Si hairspring, proprietary Ti alloy balance wheel, 54 jewels, column wheel with vertical clutch, DLC coated gears and DLC coated twin barrels, bi-directional winding rotor with ceramic ball bearings. Mine has maintained +.5 spd on wrist with no winder (sharing time with my Seamaster) since March 1st. Fantastic job on this video! Your content just keeps getting better!!!
Owning a 20 year old Speedmaster MK 40 I was impressed by how many complications Omega was able to put into this small watch. Yes it may look a bit more crowded than the current co axial moon phase, but it is also way smaller.
I own a Racing Co-ax white dial. Big watch at 44.25 mm, sits right at the limit on my 18cm/7in flat wrist (6.5cm wide). Not too thick at 15mm with the redesigned caseback. Great modern automatic movement (column wheel, vertical clutch, METAS, 60h power reserve). Very legible and usable as a chrono. Purists tend to ignore Speedy's non related to space missions, but they forget it was a car racing watch well before it was worn by astronauts.
I have the 3861 speedy sapphire sandwich and just got the moonphase. I have to say they are both awesome and totally different and both very comfortable.
Have the exact model atm on my wrist (on bracelet) - awesome watch! It doesn't wear big at all, and the moonphase complication is something special, and relatively unique from watch collectors/admirers (how often do you see someone wearing a watch with a moonphase complication?)
Never thought I would see the day when T&H would tout a 44.25mm watch. Very nice. These automatic Speedys are beautiful but wish they were in 42mm. Love the Apollo 8.
@@adriangroza3918 thank you, I can surely recommend it! Sure, I live in Germany and due to Corona the gov lowered the general VAT from 19 to 16%, that helped initially. My AD gave me an additional 5% off, so I ended up paying 4200 EUR, which I feel is reasonable (for a brand new watch, of course) ...
The other cool “story” on that Omega Moonphase is the laser-printed “boot print” that was made from the famous photo Neil Armstrong took of his “first step”. Omega placed that “boot print” on the moon phase disc over the “Sea of Tranquility” and you can view it with a loupe. It’s really a cool detail.
CZ! Fantastic couture. Dig that jacket and white pants combo. Remember 4+ years ago, when CZ didn’t like Omega Speedmaster? I knew he’d eventually make it around the curve.
I’m a big big big omega fan. I like the way these guys talk about the quality of the omega watch. They give the brand the credits and respect it deserves. They make me want an omega even more.
I just recently purchased the speedmaster38 - it just caught my eye, it has a touch class about it vs. the normal Speedmaster. I generally prefer bigger watches but this just seemed somewhat special and niche. I haven't seen any real reviews on this one
I’ve got a Speedmaster Racing which I love, but I’m also smitten by this. Are they too similar for a collection or do you think they’ll compliment each other? I’m thinking the leather of this will compliment the bracelet on the SR.
Lovely !! Only the 44,25 mm * 17 mm thickness could give me the impression I am wearing my alarm clock around the wrist... will need to try it out first...
I was in love with this blue Speedy when it came out until I tried it on. I conceptually adore the co-ax however the end result is an almost 17mm thick watch. @Omega please somehow get it down to below 14mm and take my money!
I used to dislike the Speedy when I first got into the hobby. Now that my taste is more refined through education, I can see a sapphire sandwich moon watch being my first luxury piece. I just can't justify paying 7k Canadian for hesalite.
I can’t decide between the 2. I have 7.5” wrists and usually go for bigger watches. Should I opt for 42mm? 44mm? Is one more durable than the other? I tend to smash doorknobs. (just got a MoonSwatch which is supposed to be identical in dimensions to the 42mm and it’s not bad on my big arm).
The 44.25mm Co-axial models are great for those with medium to bigger wrists. My friend has a 7.6" wrist, and purchased an excellent condition pre-owned Moonwatch Co-axial 311.30.44.50.01.002. It's got that same flexible style as the original Speedy Pro, but in a size that he feels better suits him, plus he really likes it being automatic. It's got the addition of a date, while not for purists, is very functional and he finds it a must. It's also got the bonus of 100m water resistance. It's too bad they don't make that variant any more. It does wear pretty well on my 7.25" wrist as well, but I think 42mm chronos are just perfect on mine.
I think the classic moonwatch needs a reimagination..it could use some of omegas innovation without loosing its identity. I am a big fan if the ceramic speefmaster mainly the grey side of the moon and tye bkue sife if the moon with the aventurine dial, and i also like the watch christin chose. Though Christian..the wr is 100m not 50mm
Honestly I think this is what they did with the 321 "Ed White". It is the classic Speedmaster with a column wheel movement, the use of precious metals, the aluminium bezel replaced by a ceramic one, applied indices and logo, and a display caseback and decorated movement. I think it is part of their decision to take the entire brand more upmarket.
I have seen this moonphase omega piece, mint condition, full set, just 2 years old (still under warranty) struggling to move at USD5.8k. That's a 46% discount from RTP.
Radwan Joukhadar actually more than one of the same piece. Yea, value is all perceived by the market so guess the market couldn't be more appreciative.
Hey. Could you do a review of jaeger master control sector dial. Is this a limited edition? Sure is pretty watch thanks. Can’t find a lot of information on it.
Does the Speedmaster hold its value like a Rolex? If I was to buy a new Speedmaster for $5k, would you still be able to sell it in 5 years for a similar price?
The first omega in space represents the alternative to both of these watches. The straight lugs without crown guards and the smaller form factor make for a classy vintage appeal that the moon watch cannot rival despite it being more historically significant.
The first Omega in space has a sapphire crystal. Comparing them in the flesh I think the Speedmaster professional still has more of a vintage charm mostly due to the plexiglass/hesalite. At least to me. Regarding the form factor, when comparing them on the wrist they really wore the same on my 7.5 inch wrist. Their size is almost identical (40mm around the bezetl) except for the crownguards which make the professional a 42mm case.
The moonphase and the calendar both highlight time in it's slow passing. The Tachymeter is for measuring speed over a mile, and 60mph or over at that. I don't think the two sit well together.
Wish that moonphase was 41 or 42 and had a closed caseback, i can't get past that ugly movement after having 321s and 861s to look at , maybe I'm spoiled. Great vid Brother....
Is it a prerequisite for this site to have a small wrist and bitch about watches bigger than 40mm? Some of us work out and like big watches. Stop it with the passive hate…
I love Christian, but with how they were passing those watches around and the way Christian enunciates his words, I'd bet the other dude washed his hands thrice.
I’m 50 in September and have ordered one! I can’t wait, I went for the Sapphire Sandwich. My second Omega.

Hi Theo, the moonphase is 10 ATM, not 5 ATM. This is due to the special SS case. The other ceramic cases are 5 ATM. As for moonwatch, they are 5 ATM.
Note: Water resistance on the Moonphase is 100m not 50m. It's another nice advantage over the Moonwatch which is limited to 50m.
I just asked at the Chicago boutique and they said no it is not.
They also recommended you don’t swim with it but said some people do
@Steve Trust me, it is. It's right there in Omega's own specs.
Water resistance: 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet)
@@mikep197 I mentioned that and was assured it is 5 bar
