I quit FB about a year ago and it has made my life so much better. I am not a jealous person but I felt like I was constantly comparing myself to other people's lives and feeling depressed about my own life which I had no reason to be! I am much happier now!
That's great Southern Belle, that quiting FB has had such a positive impact on your happiness. Research has also shown that social media tends to have that effect on people, so you're not alone. :-)
In a way....im thankful for Facebook because...thats where all the nasty people congregate. So....locking them up means.....releasing the real good ones as friend/for me to befriend out here! Yay Facebook! Thanks for being the prison we all need! Congrats on your release from jail!
i just take naps for relaxing not caring about strangers lives.i never did.im a very cozy person deal with one friend @ a time.im a busy person between 3x2 hrs in the gym, doctors appts, shopping for food, cooking, cleaning my house, making pottery .im exhausted.i dont have time to compare my life to others ,i never did.
Agree so much on the point about weekly commitments!!! No matter how much I like one thing, having to do it weekly makes me want to escape it. It feels so good to know that someone else shares this feeling!
First, I shut off the tv and reduced my TV time. Then I totally I stopped listening to the news on TV. And finally I got rid of my TV totally. I get my news from online print news sources each day. I only read articles that I think are necessary to read that will directly impact my life and I stay away from any negative articles. I was so stressed from all of the negative news that I would feel very anxious after watching it. I don't miss it at all. 😊 Your channel is marvelous. I just recently came across it. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
THANK YOU for this wonderful video! I've been feeling like an alien ever since I deleted my FB back in 2010 and soon after I deleted my Instagram (and I never even signed up for Twitter. Gross) Life is too short to waste time scrolling your life away on social media! My life is great without it and I am definitely not a hermit. Thanks so much for your honesty and integrity. I feel so much better!!! Much love!
I'm so glad my video was helpful to you Amber, thanks for letting me know. 😊 You are definitely not an alien or weird in any way, you are making great choices for your happiness. You rock! ✌
To answer your question I guess one actual stress relief thing I've changed over the past year is answering people. Answering my phone, my messages, my emails... I've learned to be more careful and just I guess not be available all of the time especially work related- not answer after a certain hour or on the weekends, or definitely not picking up the phone if I don't know the number. If it is important, I'll get a voicemail and reach back out, but it turned out it was mostly spams. All in all, i just realized it usually can wait a bit and respecting my peace of mind and privacy was so worth this change.
That's a great one Sophie Stanculescu, I love it! Being connected and reachable all the time is not exactly healthy I feel, and making some mindful choices about this can really bring more peace of mind, as you say. Good one!
I completely agree. I have a friend who used to phone me every night at 8.30pm and would talk non -stop complaining for 2 hours every night. Just recently, I started switching off my phone in the evening and not taking his calls, and I am sleeping so much better at night now.
Car ownership is a huge amount of money. Living in a rural area was fun for a while but living where you can walk and use public transportation and have access to so much more makes total sense. Skipping the worry of affording repairs, the price of gas and insurance, a car payment, tires again would be terrific. I do not own a smart phone, do not subscribe to anything, do not own a tv. I am making time to live a quieter life, reading more books from the library. Wonderful.
I took control of a health issue I was having that helped me regain a lot of energy. I got rid of my treadmill that reminded me of what I wasn’t doing, and exercise by taking better care cleaning the home that I love dearly. The exercise I need can come in the ordinary tasks of life, so doubling down.
I do not eat out alone. My husband and I love weekend breakfasts out together. Do not over eat. Don't go to coffee shops - have a great coffee maker at home. Have Roku in place of TV, and do Pinterest and UTube. Prefer e-mails for personal mail. We are enjoying being older, exercising at a slower pace, and living life to our individual specifications - factoring in the risks and smelling the roses allowed.
I don’t go to coffee shops either, especially Starbucks! Big waste of money and coffee is never to my liking.. I I do love coffee so I own a couple of different coffee makers at home.
You are a gem and have such wise ideas to share! I am relieved to find your channel because of the consumerist culture of today! It makes sense to do what you can to simplify life! Thanks! 💚💚💚
I quit FB about 5 years ago. Don't miss it. I only spend my social time with people who enrich my life and interest me - not those who don't. I don't commit to hobbies or groups. I do the stuff I want to do as and when I feel like it. I don't watch TV soaps - a complete waste of life.
Since adopting a more minimalistic lifestyle, I don't spend time shopping for things I don't need. I don't look for impulse purchases. I don't buy new things just for the fun of it. In the past, whenever I felt down I used to go out and buy a new purse or a new book. Now, instead, I try to take a walk, exercise, or spend time with family.
I don't wear makeup everyday! I only wear it on weekends, during the week I am makeup free. I spend that time in the morning before work going walking or staying in bed a little longer to read. It's easier to get out of bed knowing I don't have to put it on and saves money.
I love an empty calendar, a blank week, no appointments! Being over-scheduled is a mechanism to avoid being with yourself, thinking about important topics, living a happy life. We do throw one big family reunion once a year because no one else was doing it. We find it expensive but family loves it and they keep coming back every summer. I just heard of an acquaintance that is throwing her own birthday party. That was the first time I ever heard of that and then I learn here, from you, that’s it the custom there. That isn’t done in the USA. I think a small, simple no occasion party would be an inexpensive way to enjoy real time with people face-to-face, rather than texting, Facebook, etc. Love your videos.
I have been contemplating deleting my facebook account for a long time now! I barely use it but keep it because of 'what if', and now you have inspired me to finally get rid of it. I really like your channel and videos :)
I have 2 weekly commitments - to myself. Yoga classes through the week and on Sunday, I devote my day to caring for my home and preparing to make the week ahead simple and easy. I cook meals for the week ahead, do my laundry and “yes” I love to iron while watching a documentary. This is self-care time and I have learned that if I allow an interruption to this flow (like a social invitation) my whole week falls into disarray. I now protect that time with boundaries. In the suburbs of Canadian cities, a car is a necessity for business. However, I use public transportation to go into the city. Saves traffic frustration, fuel, and parking. Love you videos Vera and your acknowledgment of comments. Now I am off to enjoy a next step and the next level of decluttering.
Thanks so much for sharing Patricia Muir, and thanks for your compliments :-) I agree, it's so important to protect your time and self care rituals that are important to us. Have a beautiful day!!
This was a great video. This is a new chapter of my life living with less and I am absolutely loving it. I decluttered and gave alot of stuff to Goodwill, I am not on FB anymore or IG as much however I still use YT for productive, positive, motivated videos for tips on bettering my life. I have a car but it will be paid off in 8 months and I don't drive much so it can last me for another 10 years or more. I don't shop for clothes I have enough and my grocery shopping is very simplified because I am into fitness so I eat alot of salads, fish, grilled chicken soups, sandwiches etc. Simplicity is the way to go and I have no plans of going back to my old life. #blessedandhighlyfavored
Yes, yes and yes to all your points, especially big parties and weekly commitments! I’m in this minimalistic space right now and it feels very different for me. But absolutely right for this time in my life. I sometimes struggle not to feel guilty about my lifestyle change..
Thank you so much Nikki :) I think feeling guilty is something a lot of people experience at times, remember that it's perfectly okay for you to make choices for yourself and make your happiness a priority :)
Good list! Social media is the biggest time waster. I simplified by switching to OMAD- eating only one meal a day. I’ve lost 40 pounds and reduced my time food shopping and cooking
Simple living is something I embraced when I moved out of the city to a rural area more than a decade ago. I do own a car as I commute to work 4 days a week. However I purchase my vehicle second hand with cash. I have never had a car payment.
ritalyn b Thanks for your comment! That's great, there are many ways to simplify and to make it fit for your life and lifestyle :-) It's all about making it easier for yourself, right?! Mindful greetings, Vera
What's called social media is actually quite unsocial. Constantly fiddling with your mobile phone when real world is all around you can hardly be defined as social behavior. I never understood it.
I remember my friends invited me to eat out because its my birthday. They texted me to come. Then when I met them at the restaurant and waiting for our orders. I looked at them all busy typing or playing with their cellphones. I wait for five minutes if anyone of them will speak. My god! None of them were actually there (as if possessed or something) HAHAHA! I clapped my hands very loud and said "HEY! Are you all in here? It's much better that I'm in the comfort of my home because we used to chat in social media than here". They all put their cellphones back in their pockets. Ha Ha!
My friend wanted to go to lunch. We went where she wanted. Then she did not speak a word to me the entire time. Instead she was on 2 different phones texting. Not very social day for me. And I drove both ways! Fun times not.
Agreed on every tip and especially the social media tip. True it creates procrastination. I rather read. And enjoy lots of free time doing things that makes me happy. Thank you for such a lovely video.
👍 👍👍 i never own a car. i dont have facebook or any other social media. i dont shopping during overseas trips, i dont shopping even in my home area - only buy food , i dont hold big party at home. i am not a minimalist. Just like to have simple and easy life. Happy life and spend time for VIP people i.e. family members. Have a good day.
I gave up my car a few years ago and can honestly say that I don’t miss it, public transport and my own two feet serve me well. I don’t do Facebook or twitter either and only use youtube when the mood takes me.
Thank you Shanelle, I'd just say be glad you're learning about it now :) You can always check out my Minimalism playlist if you haven't already, to learn more. Have a wonderful week!
I stopped watching television and instead be active myself. No longer hanging in the couch whilst being bombarded with useless information. This has made my life much better.
Hello Vera, thank you so much for your channel. I love your calm voice, your video style and your topics. Your such an inspireing person. Thank you and greetings from Germany
You are amazing. I just feel happy after watching your video. Everything makes so much sense. The Birthday thing I started a long time ago. I give myself the joy of a good friend by inviting someone every year to go out for a nice dinner. It is so lovely to catch up and talk about anything and everthing and focussing on this 1 ( or 2) person(s). I have some wonderful memories of my birthday's.
New sub here, just found your channel. It’s so refreshing to see another adult who has never owned a car! I’ve never owned a car and really don’t have an interest in getting one-too much involved with them to weigh me down. I did, however, just recently get a bike for my birthday, which I’m stoked about.
I am looking to simplify my busy family life/home and am so pleased to have found you. I subscribed straight away. I too do not use social media except RUclips, for ways to nourish my soul. I am about to get rid of all my paper magazines and subscribe online to them instead. I have learnt to say no more to people (something which I found difficult to do so at first). I now socialize with a smaller group, and attend less social functions, which I often didn't enjoy anyway. I need to work on my hubby and kids to declutter next, so that we have more free time to travel etc rather than me being tied to never ending house chores. X
Hi Tara Charlton, thanks for sharing, I'm glad you're here! 🤗 It's wonderful that you've learned to say no more and only do the things that you genuinely enjoy and that serve you. You deserve it! 😊 Good luck with your decluttering journey!
What did we give up? Christmas gift giving. Well, for the most part. Everyone still wants to give & receive but we found that we were just buying stuff that nobody really needed. The 5 of us now each draw a name from a hat, and we give/receive one gift with a small price limit. It makes the gifts much more thoughtful and really cuts down on unnecessary stuff. Even our kids love it - they wonder all year whose name they will get in the next Christmas draw.
We did this growing up and I always loved it. My kids are still young, but I think we should start doing it too starting this year. So far, we've just bought stuff for the kids.
I love the video images you use to introduce each item. Very beautiful and also quite relaxing to watch that beautiful clear glass fill in such a gorgeous, reflective setting! I love hearing your thoughts and experience. I tend to fill my schedule with a fair bit of “obligations,” but am getting better at prioritizing and saying “no” more often. Thanks for your inspiration.
Thanks so much Marjorie! 😊 Yes that's a great thing to practice, it just makes life so much more pleasurable to have only a few obligations instead of a lot. 😄🌿 Have a beautiful rest of your Sunday!!
Konichi wa. Enjoyed your video. I gave up work December 31, 2018 and got an e-mountain bike for my retirement present. Now i put more miles on the bike than my car. My new motto is Less is More and trying to live that way. Trying to lead a simplified life such as not buying unnecessary junk and cutting back on TV. Much happier with less possessions as well as less mental clutter.
I’ve stopped WhatsApp. I find it highly unsocial especially in groups where persons do not commit in real life, but are active in the chat. I just prefer to be there in person when I can than speak continuously in a chat and not show up in person. Thanks for this video! ❤️
Very good list. I think I spend too much time on social media! I will first go off Facebook because I feel pressured to look at all notifications. Then I will try to go off other sites, thank you for the encouragement!
I have no TVs in my home for about 8 years,, one of the best decisions of my life! I am not on Facebook or Twitter. I don't watch the news, it's too depressing. I completely stopped clothes shopping a few years ago because before that I was shopping in the big stores twice a week, way too many clothes. I do still buy shoes of course, shoes for walking and exercising. In fact, I rarely shop for anything anymore except groceries, because I have everything I need. When I feel fatigued, I force myself to take a morning walk, I always feel better and more energised afterwards. I don't eat processed foods, I eat mainly vegetables and fruit.I have two best friends and I am friendly to others but don't let those others into my space, just my besties. I practice gratitude, I thank God for everything He has given me. All of these things help me and I have written them down so that they might help someone else.❤
I can relate to you on not having to have social media subscriptions, or I don't need the lastest cellphone. However I must have a vehicle because where I live everything is so few & far away. My city does not have Mass transit and public transportation here sucks 👎As far as walking in my neighborhood there are to many vicious dogs & criminals roaming the streets to walk around safely. All and all I have seem to manage. Great advice!
yip feel the same , have to have a car but try to still be aware each time it’s used . Sadly not all countries have the infrastructure for cyclists and safe walking
Dear beautiful soul Vera , it has been 2 days since I found and subscribed in your channel , very helpful tips, I love and live a little bit like your lifestyle , minimalism. I share your videos with my daughter and friend and family who are hoarders , hope they benefit from it.🙏🙏🙏🤣 Love , light & peace all the way from Canada 🙏⚘💝🍁
Aw, thank you so much for writing such a kind comment. It made me smile :) Welcome to the channel, I'm glad to have you here and I hope your daughter, friend and family members will also find the videos helpful! Have a wonderful day.
Sussan Mahdavi ha! I share the videos with my daughter as well! She is only 15 and I’m trying to teach her to live more simple and minimally. Kids these days have a ridiculous amount of “stuff”! They are bombarded constantly with the latest trends. It’s crazy!
totally agree with all of it apart from the point 5 perhaps...when it comes to excercise, i can tell, as a very sportive person, that plan is very very important an planning my weekly workout schedule, i enjoy it a lot :)
I limit my time on FB and my phone . I don't feel the need to go on it all the time anymore.I don't have big parties like for my birthday I have dinner with friends and family that's all. There more to life. ❤️
Great channel, Vera! Just found you about two weeks ago and keep watching your videos, I love the serenity and peace you exude :) are you also a HSP? I feel I can relate a lot to you, almost like looking at myself... I started minimizing my(our-with 2 kids) possessions about a year ago, having significantly less stuff reduced my anxiety. Already long before downsizing material stuff I cut out TV, FB and all other social media. We live in a very small apartment and we could hardly move from furniture so I got rid of our 3 beds, got a small sofa for snuggling and a big futon for sleeping which I can put away in the closet during daytime. I drastically reduced clothes and got rid of almost everything. The practical stuff remained and some accessories of our hobbies. Slowly but surely emerges what is actually important for us. I recently stopped doing my nails, putting up makeup and I recently shaved my hair. Not having to do all the hair washing/dying, etc. liberated many hours each week which is a lifesaver for a mother with small kids 😉 Thank you again for the great videos and keep them coming! Greetings from Hungary
Thank you so much, so glad you enjoy my channel! And thanks for sharing your minimizing story as well, sounds like you're doing really great! And yes, I am a highly sensitive person. I also have a playlist specifically about being a HSP, if you haven't watched them yet you might enjoy them. Thanks again and have a lovely weekend!
Listening to you I realise you sound just like me)) We have never owned a car and not going to, went minimalist and don't use any social media besides RUclips and Whatsup. Gave up giving each other presents and spend time together instead. That's unbelievable)) Greeting from Siberia, Russia!
It is a great pleasure to watch you. The atmosphere is so cozy and calm, the colours are so nice and matching. What's more, seems like you have a really fulfilling life and inner warmth, having finally come to such a simple wisdom. Great videos, glad that minimalism gradually becomes a fashion)
I came in with the misconception that you were another attractive woman espousing mindfulness with a hidden agenda to market your own brand, or something like that. That was completely an error on my part. Great video, simple, austere, and with firm intentions. Thank you
Ahh, I would love to be free from having a car. My husband and I both have cars here in the United States. It's so expensive. Just insurance is $225 per month on vehicles made in the 90's. We don't live near a city... I'd love to just have a bicycle. :) maybe one day. Thanks for the tips
Purely Flourish Thanks for your comment and you're welcome! Not owning a car makes it very simple and cheap but you'd have to be able to get around quickly in other ways :-) So I understand what you mean! Maybe some day :-) Or you could think of ways to use them less. Grtz, Vera
Hi, I’m a new subscriber and agree with everything you said in the first video of yours i watched. Unfortunately where i live i need a car but think that if i felt safe biking i would. Love your take on shopping , i feel the same way , minimal shopping while on holidays yay. Thanks for sharing
Starting today I’m determined to not over schedule my life!! Whenever I do say okay I’ll workout Monday, Wednesday, Friday.. I view it as a commitment and don’t want to do it. Whereas if I have exercise in the back of my mind and I haven’t planned it I find myself randomly wanting to get in a quick workout. So weird how that works!
Though I've never bought in bulk, I will only purchase one item at a time (toothpaste, soap, paper towels, food items). As I get close to running out of an item, I'll add it to my grocery list. This is a sure way of never purchasing duplicate items and therefore, you'll not waste money!
I love my career, but it take a lot of my time. I am trying to figure out how to balance my life.. I have only been working in this position for about 4 months now so I'm thinking learning the balance will come with time. Not only is this a new career, but it's in a new place where I moved too. (Moved here and started my job 4 days later) Totally different culture to adapt too as well. Your videos are inspiring! Also, I love your meditation videos! Will you be making any more?
Thanks so much! Moving to a new place and starting a new career, those are big changes! I'd say give yourself time to get used to everything and you will find balance with time, like you said :) And I'm glad you like my meditatio videos! I might make more in the future, but I don't know for sure yet :)
Hoi Vera, dacht al dat je Nederlands was😉 What made my life more easy and energy saving..knowing I am so sensitieve and having days I am so low on energy..is making most of my appointments for fun and business in honesty and telling upfront I might have to cancel last minute..and set a time for business appointments..and dont go over it...😊🤗
Haha kon je het horen Patricia? 😄✌ Yes I love that, those are great guidelines to live by and to make sure you've got that balance between staying in too much and going out too much. Take care, have a lovely rainy Sunday! 🌿🌧
Hope you did too!
Turning off email notifications on my phone was great for me. I have a few different jobs, and a few months ago, it reached a point where I couldn't enjoy my free time because work kept intruding.
I dont cook one meal...i cook for two and pop one in freezer. It means i always have a meal abd sauces ready.Cooking for one is a waste.Iv found thus realky works for me.Love your ideas and at 72 live a great life.thanks.xx
Great points also I think a motorbike is great from of transport you got a lot more from a bike than a car. To PARK a car in New York city is $550-$900 per month at a garage depending on vehicle size.
I'm working towards a simpler life, less time on social media and video games, more time for meditating, writing, and Karate (I practice Uechi-Ryu). Hopefully, I can meet my goals.
Hi, just found your videos! I do not have FB, Twitter, Whatsup or whatever : ) I have left all the freetime activities, like different associations I participated, all voluntary things. It has made me feel lighter and free.
Thanks so much :) I wouldn't say my English is perfect, but most Dutch people speak English pretty well. We learn it at school from a young age, and we also watch a lot of tv and movies in English, there are no dubs here. For me, I also read a lot of books in English and I've had to use it in the workplace. So it's something that happened naturally
Simple Happy Zen Definitely. I sometimes feel bad for relying on others, but all my loved ones know why - and they aren’t bothered by taking me anywhere usually. And my job is close enough for me to walk, so it’s really not that complicated. The only time I have trouble is winter really.
I quit Facebook 3 years ago. It made me too anxious. My family and friends don't understand my reasons for doing so but I don't feel the need to convince them it was the right decision for me.
Hoi Vera, ik woon ook in Nederland en ik heb vandaag je youtubekanaal ontdekt. Ik ga kijken wat het me brengt. Ik heb adhd en ben daardoor nogal rommelig, dus ik kan wel wat tips gebruiken!
I think the weekly commitments was the worst. Too many; even scheduled exercise classes. I now prefer walking and hiking when I feel like it. Taking a just show up or walk in type yoga class. All of those scheduled things, makes me want to quit them all.
I stopped watching TV and canceled my my cable subscription. It’s been over 6 months and I haven’t missed it at all and I’m saving $100 every month. I need to quit FB but I don’t go on it as often as I used to.
Your calm voice and demeanor are very relaxing. You give good advice, although for myself, just the thought of public transportation makes me cringe. You wouldn't want to ride the buses, taxis and trains in NY - they are filthy and hazardous. The cost of owning an automobile is a necessary evil around here.
Hi Selanne93, I know that public transportation is not great everywhere unfortunately. I think safety comes first, definitely! So I'm very lucky to have that option available. I think for a lot of people, not having a car would make things a lot more difficult instead of easier, so it's all about making choices that fit your life and lifestyle.
to simplify my life, i stopped multi tasking. even walking and texting, or walking and talking on the phone. i will now stop what im doing if i need to do either, and even sit while im doing it if possible. also i stopped trying to fit a million things into one day. now, if i do something that takes a lot of energy, I dont do anything else that day that takes a lot of energy if possible.
That's awesome Maddie, and congratulations on getting sober! :) And yes hahaha I know what you mean about the birthdays. Lately I'm noticing that too. So I'm focusing on making a calendar that includes everyone's birthday, so that I can wish them a happy bday, and hopefully they'll also remember mine haha

Thanks so much Cheryl, that means a lot!✌ I know what you mean with the news articles, I do the same actually. 😊
Wish i can get rid of the tv... But my significant other is hooked on it....
CHERYL STASAK me too
Taking time for "me time" to be with myself and enjoy my own company a few times a day has been very helpful
YES, I love that, that's a great one :-) I also really enjoy some me-time regularly.

Kathleen Gustafson I couldn't agree more, thanks for sharing! Have fun reading, I'm reading Haruki Murakami right now. Grtz, Vera

Thanks for sharing Melany! Keep smelling the roses 😄🌷
Thanks! 💚💚💚
Arthuria Rossi II Thanks for your kind comment and welcome to Simple Happy Zen :-) I'm glad you're here!
I quit FB about 5 years ago. Don't miss it. I only spend my social time with people who enrich my life and interest me - not those who don't. I don't commit to hobbies or groups. I do the stuff I want to do as and when I feel like it. I don't watch TV soaps - a complete waste of life.
Thanks for sharing Carolyn!! 🤗
I love your comments about social media. I deleted my accounts over a year ago and I can say I don't miss it at all. It definitely clears the mind!
That's great Lauren, feels nice huh 😄
I don't wear makeup everyday! I only wear it on weekends, during the week I am makeup free. I spend that time in the morning before work going walking or staying in bed a little longer to read. It's easier to get out of bed knowing I don't have to put it on and saves money.
Thanks for sharing Shae! I know what you mean, I also like make-up free days now and then. :-)
Thanks for sharing Catherine! It's funny how we spend our birthdays differently depending on the custom where you live ☺
I have been contemplating deleting my facebook account for a long time now! I barely use it but keep it because of 'what if', and now you have inspired me to finally get rid of it. I really like your channel and videos :)
Wow that's great Kirsten Williams! And thank you so much 😄
Thanks for your reply! It means a lot :)
You're welcome ✌🌿
You are so calming and inspiring. Thank you ❤️🙏
Thanks Theresa, that's sweet! 😊✌🌿
Thanks for sharing Debmun1215! Well said!🤗
Yes, yes and yes to all your points, especially big parties and weekly commitments!
Hi OMAD Dad, thanks for your comment and congratulations on losing 40 pounds!
I like the way you think and express your ideas
Thank you Waldemar Miranda! 🤗
Thank you Oma Kumaran 😊 That sounds great!
👍 👍👍
i never own a car. i dont have facebook or any other social media. i dont shopping during overseas trips, i dont shopping even in my home area - only buy food , i dont hold big party at home. i am not a minimalist. Just like to have simple and easy life. Happy life and spend time for VIP people i.e. family members.
Have a good day.
Mw Lim Thank you for your comment, you have a great day too! :-) Vera
Lim....u are a good, rare one. You are living so well...dont let anyone tell you otherwise. Preach!
I'm glad I discovered your channel because I just started to make my life simple. Keep sharing about it.
Thank you so much, I will! 🤗🌸
I gave up my car a few years ago and can honestly say that I don’t miss it, public transport and my own two feet serve me well. I don’t do Facebook or twitter either and only use youtube when the mood takes me.
That's great The other Alys, thanks for sharing! :-)
because of you, im so loving more the idea of minimalism...i could' ve known soonest!!
Thank you Shanelle, I'd just say be glad you're learning about it now :) You can always check out my Minimalism playlist if you haven't already, to learn more. Have a wonderful week!
Simple Happy Zen thanks for the reply!!! may you always inspire more people like me!
I stopped watching television and instead be active myself. No longer hanging in the couch whilst being bombarded with useless information. This has made my life much better.
That's a great example Theo Buitendijk, thanks for sharing
Hello Vera,
thank you so much for your channel. I love your calm voice, your video style and your topics.
Your such an inspireing person. Thank you and greetings from Germany
Aw, thanks busy bee, your comment gave me a big smile 😊🌹
You are amazing. I just feel happy after watching your video. Everything makes so much sense. The Birthday thing I started a long time ago. I give myself the joy of a good friend by inviting someone every year to go out for a nice dinner. It is so lovely to catch up and talk about anything and everthing and focussing on this 1 ( or 2) person(s). I have some wonderful memories of my birthday's.
Thanks so much, that's sweet! And that sounds really great! 🍰🌿😊
Really love your peaceful joy and encouraging ideas. Subscribed and looking forward to hearing more from you. :) Thank you for sharing with others!
Gypsy Belle Thanks so much, looking forward to keep seeing you here on this channel! Have a wonderful day 🤗 Vera
New sub here, just found your channel. It’s so refreshing to see another adult who has never owned a car! I’ve never owned a car and really don’t have an interest in getting one-too much involved with them to weigh me down. I did, however, just recently get a bike for my birthday, which I’m stoked about.
Thanks so much Amber Michelle!!
EM1986 Yes I love that too, great suggestion!
This video was amazing, and I agree with you, your so wise
Thank you so much Christine ☺💫
What an epiphany 😇. Thanks so much for your wisdom shared. Rosario
Hi Maria Rosario, thank you for your kind words! :-)
Minimalism is most beneficial for those of us in spiritual journey
Thank you for this video. Very useful.
You're welcome Anna! I'm glad you found the video helpful :-) Have a lovely day!
I no longer have a T.V......found that I had it on for background noise! Now I come home from work and relax more easily !
Karen Merhige That's a great one, very relaxing :-)
I can relate to you on not having to have social media subscriptions, or I don't need the lastest cellphone. However I must have a vehicle because where I live everything is so few & far away. My city does not have Mass transit and public transportation here sucks 👎As far as walking in my neighborhood there are to many vicious dogs & criminals roaming the streets to walk around safely. All and all I have seem to manage. Great advice!
Thanks Debbie! Safety is the most important thing!
yip feel the same , have to have a car but try to still be aware each time it’s used . Sadly not all countries have the infrastructure for cyclists and safe walking
Dear beautiful soul Vera , it has been 2 days since I found and subscribed in your channel , very helpful tips, I love and live a little bit like your lifestyle , minimalism.
I share your videos with my daughter and friend and family who are hoarders , hope they benefit from it.🙏🙏🙏🤣
Love , light & peace all the way from Canada 🙏⚘💝🍁
Dank je Vera, voor de fijne tips. Je hebt weer een volger bij😃🌷
Jeej, dankjewel Grace!! Fijne week toegewenst
I limit my time on FB and my phone . I don't feel the need to go on it all the time anymore.I don't have big parties like for my birthday I have dinner with friends and family that's all. There more to life. ❤️
Me too Grace Taylor ! My 30th is coming up... Maybe I'll go away with my boyfriend for the weekend or something! Have a great day
Simple Happy Zen that's sounds great just go away for the weekend I turn in 30 January 28th so I havnt been 30 that long still feel weird abit.
Congrats!! Haha I can imagine 😄
#5 is great, thank you!
You're very welcome Roxanne! :)
Not having to do all the hair washing/dying, etc. liberated many hours each week which is a lifesaver for a mother with small kids 😉
Thank you again for the great videos and keep them coming!
Omgosh, I love you! This is exactly me!!
Hahaha thanks Kathleen, we have some things in common huh? 🤗
Simple Happy Zen Yes, ever since I was a little girl. I was never attached to material things!
Listening to you I realise you sound just like me)) We have never owned a car and not going to, went minimalist and don't use any social media besides RUclips and Whatsup. Gave up giving each other presents and spend time together instead. That's unbelievable)) Greeting from Siberia, Russia!
Hi Ale Sness, it sounds like we do have a few things in common, huh?! 🤗 That's great, thanks for sharing!
Ale Sness Thanks so much, that's so nice :-) I'm glad you enjoy my videos!
Grtz, Vera
Hi Vera
Im watching your old videos.
Love all videos💕
Totally agree what you say!!!
Glad to hear it Kevin :)
I have it on the contrary when it comes to the 5th point. Regularity gives me structure
Yes I can imagine that could also be really nice! :)
Hi, I’m a new subscriber and agree with everything you said in the first video of yours i watched. Unfortunately where i live i need a car but think that if i felt safe biking i would. Love your take on shopping , i feel the same way , minimal shopping while on holidays yay. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much and welcome wabi sabi!! 😊 Have a beautiful day
I also don’t use social media other than snapchat and youtube and agree with you, I feel happier without it.
That's great! :) Much simpler :)
I absolutely agree with you.
Thank you Irene! :)
Really enjoyed this video. Simple and to the point. Xx
Glad to hear it Ann :D Thank you!
Though I've never bought in bulk, I will only purchase one item at a time (toothpaste, soap, paper towels, food items). As I get close to running out of an item, I'll add it to my grocery list. This is a sure way of never purchasing duplicate items and therefore, you'll not waste money!
Needing Less i feel "fun" when i buy too....so not buying in bulk helps me buy weekly...and i like buying weekly. Have a great 2018 hon💖💖
Hoi Vera, dacht al dat je Nederlands was😉
What made my life more easy and energy saving..knowing I am so sensitieve and having days I am so low on energy..is making most of my appointments for fun and business in honesty and telling upfront I might have to cancel last minute..and set a time for business appointments..and dont go over it...😊🤗
Haha kon je het horen Patricia? 😄✌ Yes I love that, those are great guidelines to live by and to make sure you've got that balance between staying in too much and going out too much. Take care, have a lovely rainy Sunday! 🌿🌧
Hope you did too!
I don’t have television...an all round win situation.
annie ecco 🤗👍
Neither do I. No tv, no car, no Fb heheheee! Very happy with that!
Amen on number 2!
Tony C Haha 🤗

Turning off email notifications on my phone was great for me. I have a few different jobs, and a few months ago, it reached a point where I couldn't enjoy my free time because work kept intruding.
That's great Pearl, very good that you turned them off. We can't be in "working mode" all the time 🙂
Thank you 🙏
I dont cook one meal...i cook for two and pop one in freezer. It means i always have a meal abd sauces ready.Cooking for one is a waste.Iv found thus realky works for me.Love your ideas and at 72 live a great life.thanks.xx
Thanks for sharing Barbara-Louisa walker! I also love to cook for two days, saves lots of time 😊
Barbara-Louisa walker i do the same thing to0.so practical
Oooo Dutchie, so cool
Dankje The Green Guide!! 😄
I loved my time in the Nethetlands. I studied abroad at the Rotterdam Business School.
Ah that's great! Rotterdam is a great city I think. 🤗🏢
turning off Facebook notifications made my life better.
Yes that's a great one ✌💕
Very cool video!
Thanks so much Piyush Uniyal! :-)
Good life.
Thank you Malou Dela Paz :-)
Vera, I love your channel and your videos. I also admire your perfect English. Did you learn it at school or did you take some courses on line?
Thanks so much :) I wouldn't say my English is perfect, but most Dutch people speak English pretty well. We learn it at school from a young age, and we also watch a lot of tv and movies in English, there are no dubs here. For me, I also read a lot of books in English and I've had to use it in the workplace. So it's something that happened naturally
👍
Thank you Ro Bau!
I don’t drive; well I really never have for medical reasons but I usually catch a ride with someone, or walk.
yes, it's doable isn't it?!
Simple Happy Zen Definitely. I sometimes feel bad for relying on others, but all my loved ones know why - and they aren’t bothered by taking me anywhere usually. And my job is close enough for me to walk, so it’s really not that complicated. The only time I have trouble is winter really.
Love your channel new support 😊
I quit Facebook 3 years ago. It made me too anxious. My family and friends don't understand my reasons for doing so but I don't feel the need to convince them it was the right decision for me.
When it's right for you, go for it 😄 I'm glad you listened to yourself and took the step, that's great!
I don't drive due to being easily distracted. I live in a small city in the US. My husband does drive so we are a one-car family.
Kathy B.
Thanks for sharing Kathy B, and happy new year :-) Grtz, Vera
Quitting FB has been a big plus for me--more time, less stress, less effort wasted on arguments with people whose opinions I never cared about anyway.
Well said Mark, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your video!
My life is much to my liking and easier since I am a vegan.
YES, same here :D
I think the weekly commitments was the worst. Too many; even scheduled exercise classes. I now prefer walking and hiking when I feel like it. Taking a just show up or walk in type yoga class. All of those scheduled things, makes me want to quit them all.
Hahaha I can relate 😄🌺
I stopped watching TV and canceled my my cable subscription. It’s been over 6 months and I haven’t missed it at all and I’m saving $100 every month. I need to quit FB but I don’t go on it as often as I used to.
Wow great example! :)
Groetjes uit Indiana! Ik fiets ook graag maar ik heb helaas een auto nodig. Mediteeren ist belangrijk om het leven te simplificeeren.
Bedankt T A Hall en groetjes terug!!!
to simplify my life, i stopped multi tasking. even walking and texting, or walking and talking on the phone. i will now stop what im doing if i need to do either, and even sit while im doing it if possible. also i stopped trying to fit a million things into one day. now, if i do something that takes a lot of energy, I dont do anything else that day that takes a lot of energy if possible.
That sounds amazing Heather, very wise, thanks for sharing 😄✌💕
Getting off Facebook was the best most life changing decision I’ve made since getting sober. Nobody wishes me happy birthday anymore tho lol
I feel very nice whenever I see you!
Thanks so much :)
Hi Vera, In Indonesia it's cheaper, faster and more convenience to use own motor bike than using public public transportation...
Ganjar Nugraha Yes I heard from a friend who's staying there :-)
