I love that Lucy has her diplomacy so maxed out that she can actually lecture someone on the evils of torture, while being tortured.
High cñCharisma and Intelligence.
Higher than average Perception and Luck.
Lower than average Strenght and Agility.
@@Dracobyte and yet one of her chosen skills is unarmed
Still don't believe she hast a charisma build, she never pass a charisma check. Maybe that one dude befor filly but otherwise.
@@thomasdaub5445 The first episode states her skills are Melee (fencing) Unarmed (self defense) and Guns (riflemanship)
@stingerjohnny9951 Unarmed is an Endurance skill tho
That's why Coop shoots the Vault-Tec Kid logo whenever he sees one.
He IS the logo.....
Yup. He IS Vault Boy. Its nuts knowing theres a real NAME to that mascot now
its nuts learning that its not a thumbs up but a nuke distance measuring thing
@@gapsule2326 It's not. They threw that Easter egg in there because it was a widespread gamer fan theory that wasn't factual or a part of Fallout lore.
@@TheFiddleFaddle/videos The show is canon and the man in the show who is literally the original vault boy explained it, easter egg or not that makes it canon.
@@VolatileSupernova You literally watched a scene in this episode that showed when he made the thumbs up while posing as the Vault Boy it wasn't because of the "rule of thumb."
“Thou shall get distracted by bullshit every goddamn time”, might as well be the company motto for Bethesda games!🤣🤣🤣
Ain't limited to Bethesda, yo.
@@aterwilliger not limited to, but they definitely side quests and DLC more entertaining than the main stories.
It's so true. Even Starfield's side quests are way better than the No Mans Sky copypasta of the main story. They literally took NMS' homework and copied it word for word somehow with way shittier gameplay.
Also Larian, Obsidian, Owlcat, Square Enix, FromSoftware and other studios that create RPG.
Moises Arias deserves some sort of award for his role as Norm. Dude was such a surprise and he steals every scene he is in.
He was my absolute favourite, I was so hyped every time we got to him
Oh yes. Now I kinda wish him to play Miles Vorkosigan (short and crazy smart protagonist of Lois Bujold book series, someone pretty close to description “Tyrion in space”), seems like he really could do it
I remember him as Bonzo from the Ender’s Game movie! Bad movie but he did good!
@@TimChaos5What was bad about Ender’s game?
@@sungunner6244Shit, good call. He'd be a great Miles
The giant bag the squires carry is a joke related to players running encumbered carrying tons of trash in the games.
No it’s because you always give your companions hundred of pounds of junk while you run around with sick armor, guns, and maybe some meds.
You can not fast travel while you are encoumbered / enemies are nearby.
You call it trash.
I call it ammo for my Junk Jet.
We are not the same.
😁
To answer adams curiosity: Yeah, ALL irradiated beings, the ghouls, the Gulper, the bear (creature name Yao Guai, its a whole thing), and the Apex predator, Deathclaws, ALL constitute as Mutants in some capacity.
But they arent SUPER ones.
And then you have super mutants and nightkin, curtesy of the millitary/master via FEV
@@dedmnwlkn5796”Oh you’re a mutant all right, just not a SUPER ONE!” - Strong, probably
@@aparticularlydustedcoolran2448 Too much punctuation for him, he's very simple lol
@@chazo1367 You’re right. I should have put “The Master”.
The gulper died because it was turned inside out. Maximus put his power armor boot on the anchor and played tug of war using his squire as the rope; the gulper refused to let go until the stuff connecting its stomach to the rest of it let go.
If we're going with Jay's analogy, I believe the younger brother, Norm, would fit the cowardly lion role. The first episode he strait up tells Lucy he's to much of a coward to join her, but this episode shows he has more of a backbone than he's aware of.
Wow. It fits pretty well!
The cowardly lion? Please explain.
@@crimsonghoul8983 The Cowardly Lion's whole deal was that despite what he clamed, when he reached the Wizard he was told the his courage was actually inside him all along. Norm outright clamed to be a coward. But, what he's done and what he will continue to do take real courage. Thus, Norm is the Cowardly Lion.
I've actually brought up the Wizard of Oz "connection" online before, but while many people argue that Norm fits the Cowardly Lion role, I actually think he and Vault 33/32 fit Munchkinland better. The lion should be something that SHOULD be scary, but is actually terrified of everyone else. The Vault dwellers fit the munchkins better because of things not yet seen in Ep 3.
Yup!
You know what? I'm willing to bet that whole "clean my codpiece" thing started as a part of the Squire training. Like, teaches humility, patience, and service. My headcanon is that over time, the Knights forgot WHY the Squire does it. They just know they had to do it, so now their Squire has to.
That actually fits. Lost meaning over time, I accept this canon~
@@jameskarg3240 The lost meaning over time works even better now that the Brotherhood of Steel has been "contaminating" their ranks and bloodlines with outsiders that haven't been properly brought up within the Brotherhood's fanatical structures. Which may or may not be a good thing depending on how it evolves. Under Elder Lyon this was a good thing. Under Maxon it became more militarized and expansive. And the mutinous elder leading this show's chapter of the Brotherhood seems to be kneeling more towards the quasi-religious aspects of the Brotherhood.
@@yannym4605 exactly. These guys ARENT the Lost Hills at all.
Love how she is so optimistic, and inexperienced that she took up that much room in her pack for a few Deviled Eggs.
Adam screaming 'IT'S A MOUTH OF FINGIES!!!' was not on my bingo card today.
hahahahaha! it was totally on mine for real so i win!! my bingo now!😂😂😂
I love that the Gulpers in this series look like Axolotls
I mean thats probably just what they are just mutated Axolotls.
Yeah it was confirmed that all this time Gulpers were just evolved versions of Axolotls. Always thought they were salamanders 🤣@@Greenhawk4
@TheeJasonReyes I think the ones at far harbor were salamanders
It's revealed in episode 7 or 8 (can't specifically remember) what these gulpers are. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen yet.
@@TheeJasonReyes They are salamanders on the east coast
"yeah, without their feet" is wild 🤣😂
I see people get confused about the death of the Gulper, it died because Maximus literally pulled its stomach out saving his squire.
Maximus maxed out his Con and Luck and nothing else.
He also had the Idiot Savant Perk.
yeah luck is maxed. see him miss all other shots in this show. that 1 hit kill on the bear def a fluke. dude is the definition of failing up.
Teeth serve purposes in a dystopia where everything is in short supply.
One use will be revealed later.
The reason why I think Maximus was mean to his Squire Thaddeus is because Thaddeus was a bully to Maximus, you can see in Episode 1 that Thaddeus was a part of the group that beat him up.
The waterchip came from the plot of Fallout 1...had 2 months to find a new one, and the model in his hand was identical to the CGI model in the game. LOL
Fun fact: Ella Purnell, who plays Lucy, also plays Jinx in Arcane. So I guess she's the go-to actress for awesome, faithful video game adaptions.
omg I'll never be able to not hear it now lol
and daughters who have to go save their fathers 😄
The vials Lucy broke are what helps keep Coop from going Feral.
{Thus, she literally dropped a side quest on him.}
It's not big spojler, but still, they literally will show this lil later, no need to hurry and spill everything, dude...
To clarify ... the reason the didn't go with Lucy and the Ghoul is because he's a good boy and staying with his owner ... the head.
She even gave him kisses when he was thrown up.
I had the same question about the age of Lucy's "younger" brother Norm. Since he has a perpetual five o'clock shadow. It turns out the actor Moises Arias turns 30 today (April 18th). Happy Birthday Moises!
You would had definitely known his age if you grew up watching the Disney shows he was in.
Yei!
The reason that I LOVE these guys: When Adam referenced Horizon Zero Dawn, I felt like he was reading my mind. I would 100% watch tv and drunk a beer with these guys. If not a beer, an ice cold slurpie
Massive golf bag is the joke about how much stuff can players carry in the games
I wouldn't say the three roles are paths you can take, but they are three perspectives of the wasteland. As the ghoul is from before the bombs fell, maximus was born into the wasteland and Lucy is experiencing things for the first time due to the vault.
It was said, but they were referring to alignments in the game. Lucy=good. Maximus=neutral. The Ghoul=evil.
Whole new meaning to finger lickin' good
Can we give 80 year old Leslie Uggams her credit for still serving as such an incredible actress.🥰
Adam instantly with the "yeah without their feet" was absolutely fantastic and the correct answer
Did the drugs kick in?
No, it has a lot of fingers inside its stomach, it had a VERY firm grip on Thaddeus.
When Max pulled with power armour strength it couldnt let go so its internals became its externals.
Also a shout out to whoever decided winning a boss fight would give you the standard level of fallout drek, always a toaster, never a fusion coreon the bodies.
So, Jay and Adam. I started playing fallout 76, and in honor of Walton goggins wonderful job as the ghoul, I named my character Walton Ghoulgins
Adam: "Yeah but without their feet..."
Jay: 🚩🚩🚩
Gulpers are featured in Fallout 4's DLC "far Harbour" and Fallout 76's base game. Though the one in this show looks slightly different. The water chip failing is a reference to the first Fallout in which the player's main goal is to replace their vault's broken water chip.
After watching the whole show I'm surprised that doesn't come up again, so I wonder if it's just a reference.
@@zacharybartolo5111
SPOILERS FOR LATER BELOW. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
i think either it will play a role in season 2 (possibly by having another dweller be sent into the wasteland) or it was a problem set up by Betty to both bring doubt on Reg and Woody's leadership and to create an increased motive for someone to kill the prisoners. I could easily see her announcing she has managed to fix it or create a solution later in the month, which will make the other dwellers have even more trust in her as overseer.
“It’s Jay…and Adam! Its… PREVIEW’D!”
Yup, straight nasal facts. I had nasal surgery and they packed my sinus with tube gauze. When the time came to take it out, the doctor just grabbed one end with the forceps and started walking backward. He got about halfway across the room before it got 'stuck'.
The show' s been officially renewed for Season 2! And rightly so! Can't wait! P.S.: that head scrunch looked disturbingly seamless/flawless. Ouch! P.P.S.: we need to give Moises Arias more credit . He did a great job as Lucy's brother.
I think the actor that plays Norm was on Hannah Montana. I think..
Yep, Moises Arias played Rico in Hannah Montana!
@@BlademasterFox365 yes! Rico. I forgot his character name!
I need an Adam shirt saying "The nasal cavity is vast" with no other context. lol
Ah, the universal reaction to the Gulper. 'THAT'S A LOT OF FINGIES!'
One of the best lines ever, Thou shalt get sidetracked by bullshit every goddamn time
Adam: Nothing better happen to that baby deer.
Adam: DAMMIT.
I love that Adam and Jay worry about the dog and the fawn as much as I do
The second I saw that fawn next to the water, I knew it was dead meat.
@@heltaku9397 😢
"let them go" I guess the Raiders in their Fallout games were less insane bloodthirsty murderers than in mine.
That knife is called a ripper. A small chainsaw.
"Yeah. Without their feet."
I never realized that Adam is this evil.
Never heard the analogy to the Wizard of Oz before. Interesting. And definetely not wrong.
It never occurred to ne until they mentioned the idea of Cooper being "Vault Boy" but it makes sense to me and I like it.
The damaged water chip was a nod to the first Fallout. In that game the protagonist is sent out to the wasteland to find a replacement for the damaged water chip. And the game gave you a deadline of two in-game months (I think) to complete the quest. If I remember correctly the vault having only one water chip was a deliberate part of Vault-Tec's experiment.
Vengeance and Justice, Adam's drug of choice. Love it !!!
The water chip being broken is a wonderful Fallout 1 Easter Egg. The main plot of Fallout 1 was finding a new water chip after Vault 13's broke.
14:34 I understand that Adam 😂 "Heed, paper, now!"
I wonder if the Ghoul is following the origin of the salesman from Fallout 4. Basically he was the rep going around selling vault positions to people before the bombs dropped, then he wasn’t let in to one when the time came and he turned into a ghoul.
14:33 - "Well that's a huge noggin. That's a virtual planetoid. Has it's own weather system. HEED! MOVE!"
Fallout, now THAT'S how you do a video game adaptation that draws from the actual source. Hell yeah!
Linus was once the Cheese man in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
This ep is getting 128 out of 128 Gulper fingie-teef 🤢
Great reaction as always! There’s a few nice Easter Eggs in this one. The water chip being destroyed was the reason the Vault Dweller needed to leave the vault in Fallout 1. And I saw it pointed out somewhere that the squire’s bags are a visual representation of being overencumbered in the game and I’m so mad I didn’t pick it up while I was watching 😂
I love the weird apocalyptic "Jaws" vibe this episode had.
The design is very human. (Gulpur's).
Norm is suppose to be the younger brother of Lucy. But looking up the actors birthdays, he is actually two years older.
I appreciate the genuine discomfort Adam displayed over the sea of fingers in the gulper's mouth...
I just want to see someone hauling around a hundred pounds of desk fans that they're going to break down into components to build their house. Also, considering the story of Fallout 1, it would've been pretty hilarious if the water chip being destroyed had ended up casting Norm in the role of The (other) Vault Dweller on a quest for another chip.
Um, no, Jay. The raiders have intimate knowledge of Vault security. That's why they can't simply be let go. They got into a vault from the outside and unless they reveal how, they can't take a chance on letting them go.
If that secret is revealed then they can take steps to prevent it from recurring, but then there's the ethical quandary of people are dead. Do you merely let the murderers go free sans punishment?
If execution seems too extreme then forced labor may be an alternative. Make them run giant hamster wheels to generate electricity or chained up to use as guinea pigs for various science / medical experiments.
It’s both gross and kind of fascinating to see all the irradiated/mutated wildlife; that gulper was 🤢
As far as I know, gulpers first appeared in the Far Harbor DLC of Fallout 4. They're . . . a lot. The one's in this show may have distinctive features, though. We may come across something about them in a later episode . . .
32:52 -33:00
we did meet the cowardly lion. he's still chilling back in vault 33 ;)
I get your thinking here, but Norm isn't somebody who looks scary but is secretly afraid of everything. I think we'll probably get a cowardly lion in S2.
@@heltaku9397 "we're all cowards, that's why we live in a vault"
Gave that bandit leader that CRAWNCH
I can't NOT point out that at my age, I just NEED Adam's shirt!! Love your reactions, guys!
Vertibirds look so freaking nice
The peaches world just waiting for more episodes to see how wrong they were about Maximus lol
The show is so dang good at balancing the characters here cuz you just want good things for Lucy cuz of how well Purnell sells "Bright eyed newbie whose on a mission and expects the best of people" but Goggin's is so dang good you already kinda forgive him for the human bait torture thing!
Adam would lead the ghouls confirmed 😳 "Well we're not killing them!"
The people in vault 32 were already dead before the raiders came.
Glad to hear season 2 is coming
26:31 Holy Shit Lashy! I had to rewind that just to make sure I heard that right. You scary! lmao
Bold move interrupting my din-din time
Just something to watch during Din Din time😂
The music choices are beyond AMAZING. It is commentary. BTW "Petty Officer Shortsight" Hilarious.
Mmmm-mmm! Nothing like 200-year-old deviled eggs!
Every time someone says Betty, my brain goes nope her name is blind Al😂😂
Editor - "Should I blur out this head crush for RUclips?"
Jay & Adam - "Nah, show'em the brain."
The cowardly Squire is the cowardly Lian. The man in the metal suit is the tin man. The man with a melted face that scares everybody is the Scarecrow. Lucy is Dorothy, the dog is Toto.
Without their feet... Adam you are thinking like a surface dweller know!
9:00 This is why I always remove the fusion core from the armor whenever I get out.
Max has been bullied the whole time so I don’t blame him for doing the same. The only Knight he’s gotten to interact with on screen was Titus and that dude SUCKED 😂
I was where Jay was with why the Ghoul and Lucy left the head behind and where they were going. Adam nailed it on the head. He needs more drugs since his vials got broken. But how he goes about it…..wow!
Chickens do NOT try to "rehabilitate" the fox.....
Humans are not foxes though. And neither they are chickens...
22:35 I literally downloaded a mod for Fallout 4 that’s James Woods saying, “Ooo, piece of candy!” every time I pick up a med item.😂
I know a whole season dropping simultaneously isn't ideal for what you guys do, but imma need you to get these reactions done and in my face asap! Hyah!!
“He seemed the most down to be his (Maximus’) friend” …were we watching the same episodes?? The guy ordering people to kick his ass?
Yeah I think they forgot everything about the time at the Brotherhood's base. The guy terrorised Maximus, I think maybe they just want to dislike Maximus at this point
"Without their feet" and then Jay's reaction had me CHOKING on my water lol
Also totally missed the connection to Coop being the Vault boy! nice catch!!
Why is the thumbnail title giving me Cats flashbacks lol
Young Norm makes me think of pre-serum Steve Rogers
Stanford Prison experiment....Look it up. The whole vault scenario reminds me of that.
"Without their feet"! LOL!
Videogame bag of holding was the brotherhood squires :P
Hahahaha!
The fact that the most ruthless and dangerous bounty hunter in all of fallout is VAULT-Boy.
11:30 Thats a Vertibird :)
Water chip call-back to Fallout 1.
Producers have respected gamers. Respect.
If really has that fallout tone to it.
Jay is constantly trying to promote the Dark side in the Star Wars shows they watch, then here he's like "they are still human lives". Then Adam is like "nope those are threats, you remove threats", I'm with Adam.
I wonder what Maximus has been doing this whole time with the brotherhood.
We've seen him as a little kid, assuming this was him being rescued into the brotherhood, he's had many years of training.
so why is he this inept? the things Thaddeus knew, tracking the radiation of the Ghoul, the lecture we saw where Max had no idea what the "relic" was...
I don't really get what he has been doing when he should have dove head first in studies for the chance to become a squire.
We saw him unable to identify a relic. and there is i think sentence from that priest guy that physicla combat is not everything. i think he focused more in fighting training. Or just chilled around :D
@@laigron7884yea especially since he is very capable whenever he’s fighting outside of the suit
I feel like Norm “I’m Too Much Of A Chicken” MacLean is the Cowardly Lion.
I’m amazed by the practical effects in the show. I’m not big on gore tbh but they really nailed it, and the head is incredible. Think the gore is needed to make the world feel so lived in and real.
