Both Red dead redemption 1 and Red dead redemption 2 have the most depressing Game story and saddest ending Of all time..Both masterpiece and alot better then Gta 5
I never played GTA V (just bought the PS5 version though), I expect I'll really like it, but it won't have the same resonance that the Red Dead Redemption games have.
Red Dead is just… it’s just different man. From the same Company as Bully (GIVE US BULLY 2) and GTA… but these games (even red dead revolver) just feel different. It’s got a lot of the same feel with driving and such, but where GTA and Bully are big power hungry men… RD is about older men trying desperately to cling to the world they love whilst the rest of the world forces them to change. It’s tragic… and god I love it.

Seeing this after beating RDR2 feels good, you could tell in those 4 years between the epilogue and the start of this game, that John grew and matured, he became a family man and a rancher. Seeing how angry he is during the events of RDR1 isn't surprising at all, his family was kidnapped so he can hunt down his fellow gang members, he wanted to leave that life behind and forget about it, now he got dragged back into it, I'd be pissed too.

This game is a masterpiece. Single player, great. Multiplayer, great. I have very fond memories of grinding the out 100% completion achievement on Xbox 360. With DLC there were like 75 achievements for this game and I got all of them, but 3 or 4.

What a crock of shit. Red Dead Fuck is the best i can do for this crap.
I was 13 when I first played this game and 21 when I played the second game. I don’t think I’ve ever played another game with such a great story it will forever hold a special place in my heart for as long as I live
Have you played Horizon? Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. They are games I was engrossed in the story too. Had non gamers watch me play both that and RDR and enjoy them
didn't know what to expect for the format, but this is probably THE best format of showing gameplay for the story i have ever seen. thank you for this ride
Been looking for a Red Dead playthrough that includes the opening on the train, amazing piece of dialogue that sets the tone of the opening of the Wild West with uncertainty, some of the horse riding between missions without commentary. Might stick around for more content from his channel. Sometimes you just wanna see a game's playthrough and story unfold without screaming. Thank you.
Because of the superb art direction and world building, it still looks really special in 2022, despite the difference in the graphics compared to modern games.
As a kid I wasn't allowed to play more graphic games like this, but at age 14 I purchased RDR2 for my PC. I love the game to this day, but there wasn't a RDR for PC so I was never able to see what happened to John or any other of the characters, thats why I sat through 10 hours of gameplay. Honestly, I wish I could have played it.
There's an Xbox 360 simulator that allows it to run on PC. I forget what it's called, but there are RUclips tutorials on how to set it up to run RDR on a PC.
@@AL-tv3dy Yes. Piecing it all together as you reach the end was awesome. It had me tryna remember who John hunts down in RDR, and the shockwave I felt when I first played and saw Dutch, Bill, Javier and so on. It’s much better RDR and then RDR2
After the amazing job they did with RDR2 I kinda hope they would remake this as a sequel sometime in the future. With an awesome lore they built up in RDR2 the remake will hit super different in a good good goooood way.
@@stefan4852 You mean RDR3? nah, i don't think RDR3 will be about Jack. Many people think it will be about Landon Rickets and to be honest i think so too, he's a pretty important character in RDR universe.
⚠️Vary Long comment about Jack Marston’s game justification and story. Arthur said “revenge is fools game”, Jack took revenge on a very high ranked and decorated federal agent. While canonically speaking 3 people are alive who could point fingers in Jack’s direction. Rdr3 as in “red dead redemption 3” must happen with the Jack he’s the last piece in this whole revenge cycle. 1. World War I does not really mean anything to the United States until April 1917 when we get involved and soon after that we start drafting. We have a few years to work with for Jack’s Western adventures. 1914,1915,1916, and part of 1917 2. If historical accuracy is the problem well by most estimates that I’ve seen many historians consider the end of the wild west to be around 1890 to about 1895. So by that logic rdr2 and rdr1 are unrealistic technically given their time periods. Standard Wild West era in 1865-1895. In reality no western should ever see the light of day of the 1900s and definitely not the 1910s as for 1899 well it’s in the late 1800s but still out of the standard time frame technically. 3. Rockstar operates under a different timeline giving the years they set their games, they seaming look at things from the perspective of “as long as horse travel is still normal, western stories happening is not ridiculous yet and not far out of the realm of believability”. So we can say Rockstars standard for the Wild West era factors with end of the horse era so 1865-1920ish. Which technically does make sense if horse travel is still normal then criminals on horseback is not far-fetched either. 4. Considering they literally made “Cowboys of the Caribbean” by making chapter 5 in Guarma I don’t think they’re that too concerned about keeping everything 100% strict on standard Wild West areas/adventures. So I don’t think using only *ONE* part of rdr3 being set over seas in World War I is that far-fetched of an idea for rockstar. 5. People think he “has no story to tell….” he shot a retired top brass FBI federal agent… then canonically speaking leaves 3 ppl alive who can point at jack. The agent that he first asked about where to find Edgar, along with Edgar‘s wife and brother are still alive. With the brother being the one who most likely finds the body after Edgar doesn’t return back to camp for a while, he goes looking for him. Then inevitably reports that to the police then news gets back to Blackwater quickly. Than the agent Jack first asked is going to give a statement about a young man late teens early 20’s was looking for him. Considering what happened to Jack’s dad a few years earlier is not ancient history to the Blackwater police force. The law will decide to go down to breachers hope to go see if Jack is home obviously he won’t be there. After a few weeks no sight of him returning home, then factoring in the the statements from the brother and the wife. The Government is going to assume that Jack is most likely the one who killed Edger because he has the biggest motive to wanna go after Edgar, with no alibi to suggest otherwise, and conveniently not at home. Also because we’re supposed to be starting to enter the modern age, killing cops especially Top brass federal agents is going to give Jack a hefty bounty and law is not going to just let this go. *Boom Jack is on the run RDR 3 starts* 6. Another thing the redemption storyline does not give out free happy endings unearned. Jack will get his no doubt, but so many people believe he just killed Edgar and just got away with it. That is not how rockstar writes the redemption storyline you don’t just walk away Scott free with no repercussion. The redemption trilogy is about finding redemption in the eyes of law enforcement and or in the eyes of your peers/yourself. Set during end of the wild west era as the foundational background for the “Redemption” stories. I want Jack to have a happy ending, and I know he will rockstar won’t kill him off or leave him sitting in jail forever as the ending of RDR3. But his redemption at least in the eyes of the law must be earned not just handed freely while simultaneously being very inconsistent with what the theme of the redemption storyline is about. 7. “he lived and became an author the end ” several things questionable/ arguably wrong with that that. The one book that we see in Franklins house in GTA only proves *one* thing. He lived long enough to write a book and publish one that does *not* mean he got a happily ever after in terms of a long life/ peaceful one. I mean technically he could’ve wrote that book in the few years following John’s death as a way of coping with grief as far as we know. And had it published before his mom‘s death and his hunt for Edger… He could’ve died in World War 1, or died a wanted man for killing Edgar and most likely other crimes, we just don’t know for sure how Jack turned out…. One book only proves one book that he made exist and was published. Plot wise rdr3 *Chapters 1-8* Jack goes on the run for killing Edgar Ross, shortly into his life as an outlaw he runs into “the last outlaw gang of the West” he joins up with them considering he knows on his own he’s not likely to last very long he doesn’t know how to go “on the run” John and Abigail tried to keep him away from that life as much as possible. After joining Jack and his new gang robs banks, trains, etc.. “standard wild West adventures”. 1914- middle 1917. *Epilogue 1* he gets captured by Archer Fordham in middle 1917, Along with a few of his gang buds Who are about his age. And because they’re all young man Their offered a deal in exchange for their freedom or not. “You gentlemen can choose to fight In ww1 if you survive you’ll be free men when you get back consider this your sentence, or you could choose not to fight and you can sit in prison for the rest of your lives or I can just hang you… your choice” obviously they choose to fight we play as Jack in World War I. *Epilogue 2* it’s November 1918 the war is over, Jack and his friends who made it go back to the states are declared as free men in the eyes of the law, Jack is officially redeemed. shortly after He Married his gf, Buys a new ranch to honor his parents, and starts writing the book “rdr”. *Final Act* 1919 jack’s been home and adjusting to “modern life” for 1 year. We see the ranch is doing well, he just finished his book, has two kids, his friends are also doing well they also live relatively close by to him. We last see Jack close the book he just finished, look at the pictures on the wall , we see his dad‘s old gang, and Jacks gang, picture of his squad mates from the war, solo picture of himself, and his parents and his new family. He kinda smiles Then stands up put on his dad‘s hat goes outside to go work around the ranch *The END* *Credits* shows Jack and his family over the years of their lives in the 1920s 30s 40s 50s… up until Jack is an old man. With a Heavy focus showing Jack’s Ranch Grow into a big business over the years, and he has several best selling books he wrote, also showing how his kids turned out, and life with his wife, and Nice moments with his old gang/war buds over the years. *Honorable mentions* Assuming none of John’s old gang members have anything to do with Jack story during the outlaw stage or when he’s overseas in the war. Might be a nice little nod to show clips of them in the credits scene “how they’re doing now”. Last time we saw them was 1907 be nice to check in to see what their life is like in 1919 at the true very end of the Wild West
I remember when I played this for the first time as a child. The pure shock, disbelief, and anger that I felt when he died. I never thought that losing Arthur would be soooo much worse, with Arthur is was sadness, guilt, and wishing that he would’ve lived to be the man he deserved.
Bro, I watched only 18 minutes of this video (I am planning to play by myself later) and I can say this game is fine wine. Damn you Rockstar for not making (so far) remastered version of this game.
Thanks for sharing this. I'm no hardcore gamer, but this was my favorite game of all time. The farthest I got was 81% total completion before my Xbox took a crap.
1:39:40 2:03:05 That long range slow mo shot was frikkin awesome!!! Your my favorite gaming channel to watch whole games like its a movie. I never got the chance to play this game even though Rockstar games are my fav. I plan on watching RDR2 and the Zombie DLC as well. Keep doing your thing man 😀👍
there’s just something about red dead redemption. the posters, the aesthetic, the characters. I love how it’s red and the text looks like it’s made of wood but instead it’s white if you look at the posters for both rdr1 and rdr2 you’ll see how the painting of arthur and john just seem so badass especially johns. i don’t know i just miss when rdr1 was popular when it first came out same for rdr2
Holy shit, watching this in 2024, this game is 14 years old and the graphics still hold up. Its actually impressive how good they are for the time. Rockstar Games is just something else
this playthrough is golden dude, not even 2 hours in and i can’t stop laughing. the awkward herding, the one cow falling off the cliff, the shop and one liners. the nostalgia hitting big time, miss playing this for the first time
After playing RDR 2, Coming back to RDR 1 made me more understand the stories. I remember back then I don't even understand what's going when I played this game, on especially the opening part. like who tf is Bill and Dutch, now it made a lot of sense. Really both game is great.
I mean, the only happy ending would be for Jack to move on, and go into the new age of the world… it could be done…. Honestly I’d love RDR3 to be the founding of the Gang, and end with the Blackwatter incident that starts RDR2.
These rockstar games still hold up today. They could release this game in 2023 with a minor graphical update and it would still be one of the best video games ever.
What a great video! I played through this game about 6 years ago and was just awestruck by it. I couldn’t stop playing. One person on here said it right. “Saddest ending of all time” I was rooting for John the whole game. His Son delivered justice 👏👏👏
Rdr1 one will airways be the best game for me I remember I was instantly attached to John as a character and many others in this game. I also thought the story was far superior than the second one.
Honestly I don't think comparing the two is fair to either of the games. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but together they create a story so touching and original that it's hard to say which one is better. They both tackle different issues and character arcs too
You gotta play Undead Nightmare too! It is worth playing and really fun. Zombies were creepy and the sounds they make really frightened me. Then again, I have a general fear of Zombies and couldn't even play Resident Evil cause of the nightmares it gave me. Still, I recommend it.
I’m a 45 year old man who has never been a big gamer . I stumbled across like 30 Xbox 360 games and then bought a 360 .i recently was shown videos of RDD2 . And thought it looked familiar. Anyway I recently started playing THIS game and it really fun besides failing missions lol . Thanks for posting I’m not sure if I’ll ever finish but at least I can watch the story here . 1:03:33
John Marston is definitely my favourite rockstar character. He's so well written, and so is this whole game. I always cry during the end of the Red Dead Redemption games. These games will truly always be my favourite games.
It’s sad to realize Arthur spent his last few days to make sure John made it out alive only for his past to catch up to him 14 years late to get him killed
@@Rohan1s495 yep but the weird thing is i dont understand how Rockstar as the publisher dont even check how Grove Street games remastering the graphics and dont notice and fix the bugs and glitch for the trilogy first before releasing it. We can wait for a lot of months more for a game release just too make it at the best performance
I hate I never got to play this game. That's why I'm watching this. Just finished rdr2 and goddamn what a game. I wish they'd do a remaster or a remake.
I truly don't understand the ending. Why tell him to go live his life then come back and kill him? Why not kill him right after Dutch died? He was being an upstanding citizen and running a farm. I truly don't see why they had to kill him.
Yeah just finished the game and I got traumatized that they did him dirty finally he was happy with his loving family living a decent honest hard-working life 😭
I can't stop laughing at that old lady sitting next to Mrs Bush in the train at the start of the game. Everytime she talks she sounds and looks so funny
I wish I could play this game again for the first time. There was nothing like it back then. It's not only 'cause of the nostalgia, but I really do think the original is WAY better than RDR2.
I'm not sure how Ross thought that betraying Marston the way he did would work out well for him. Sure, could he have easily predicted Jack avenging him? No. But leaving Jack and Abigail alive is a pretty big fubar of a loose end to leave.
He must have killed John just to cash in his bonuses before retirement from the feds. John was just an extra score to his career, killing woman and children wouldn't look too good on his record.

This game is a masterpiece. Single player, great. Multiplayer, great. I have very fond memories of grinding the out 100% completion achievement on Xbox 360. With DLC there were like 75 achievements for this game and I got all of them, but 3 or 4.

I was 13 when I first played this game and 21 when I played the second game. I don’t think I’ve ever played another game with such a great story it will forever hold a special place in my heart for as long as I live
R.I.P 🙏

I like how the voice quality is so old timy and is just like a old movie it just helps make this game feel like your experiencing a old movie
1:23:14 I love the quiet little "what the fuck?" in the background. It's _exactly_ what I would expect to hear in the middle of a gunfight.
These graphics still holdup today. What a masterpiece these red dead games are.

It's strange how rd2 makes you understand rd1 so so many years after playing
I never noticed how the beginning scene on the train with the conversations are such parallels to the whole theme of the two games.
If Dutch did Micah like he did nastas, the gang would be harvesting mangoes in Tahiti :(
Nah, Dutch kept putting the gang in more danger. He never wanted peace.

Love how Ricketts and John interact as Master and Student
After the amazing job they did with RDR2 I kinda hope they would remake this as a sequel sometime in the future. With an awesome lore they built up in RDR2 the remake will hit super different in a good good goooood way.
Allegedly they had a remaster in the works as well a gta 4 one but due to low sales of the gta "definitive" edition they were scrapped.

Now i’m looking for the part 3, with jack kicking ass
@@kodychesirekind of a funny excuse for them lol
1914,1915,1916, and part of 1917
*Boom Jack is on the run RDR 3 starts*
Plot wise rdr3
*Chapters 1-8* Jack goes on the run for killing Edgar Ross, shortly into his life as an outlaw he runs into “the last outlaw gang of the West” he joins up with them considering he knows on his own he’s not likely to last very long he doesn’t know how to go “on the run” John and Abigail tried to keep him away from that life as much as possible.
He kinda smiles Then stands up put on his dad‘s hat goes outside to go work around the ranch *The END*
*Credits* shows Jack and his family over the years of their lives in the 1920s 30s 40s 50s… up until Jack is an old man.

Why?
Playing this again, after RDR2 makes it a lot sadder... 😔
I'm not sure how Ross thought that betraying Marston the way he did would work out well for him. Sure, could he have easily predicted Jack avenging him? No. But leaving Jack and Abigail alive is a pretty big fubar of a loose end to leave.
Ross was arrogant, and felt untouchable. Jack fixed that.
He must have killed John just to cash in his bonuses before retirement from the feds. John was just an extra score to his career, killing woman and children wouldn't look too good on his record.
I never thought I'd hate someone more than Micah, but the Professor has surpassed my hatred for the man!
