Relevant ? It's literally a blue print of what's going to happen.
The global agenda for worldwide socialist domination ( NWO) WAS supposed to start by the year 2000 there was supposed to be a total media shutdown and a po lice st ate introduced and they were going to blame it on the w2k bug .
So artists in the know either tried to prepare ppl mentally or warn ppl from about the late 80s to late to early 2000s, however the problem was where ever the globalist would meet there would be mass riots and protests against them since a lot of ppl knew about this .
American m ilitia were on high alert 📢 for the introduction of the world 🌎 govern ment and were willing to fight it .
So the elite changed plans staged 911 introduced a bunch of laws to fight "terrorism " and subdued all resistance.
In 2020 co vid was introduced and new laws were legislated removing freedoms.
This is not a prophecy it's a person telling of future plans ( I mean the song ) .
Nothing new Babylonians , pharoahs , and some roman emperors had totalitarian governments even the Vatican had its own from 1000 to 1400 .
Only difference is this generation of Satanists have more technology and ppl are sleepwalking right into their doom .

Full confession. Oliver Stone turned me onto Leonard Cohen by using a shortened version of this song in his movie "Natural Born Killers" in 1994. Before then, all I knew by Mr. Cohen was "Everybody Knows." First I bought the soundtrack. Then I bought Cohen's CD "The Future" and started collecting all of his work. I was blown away. As he aged, his work got better. I love it all and miss the man deeply. But his music lives on!

"things are going to slide in all directions there won't be anything you can measure anymore" it's incredible how prescient these lyrics are. We're in a post-truth world where people can barely even agree on what is fact and what is fiction and I think he nailed it with this lyric. Slide implies movement with friction and the idea of sliding in all directions shows that it's not just social progress in one direction anymore there's a fight for who can slide things in their favor the most

The song was written in response to the fall of the Soviet Union. This feeling was explored completely independently by the late historian John Lukacs who I'm sure never heard of Cohen when he wrote about historical consciousness. Umm 🤔, I’m 70ish, and imho think Dylan, Neil Young, and some others from those even earlier years were better ‘poets’ than Cohen, based on their song’s lyrics and ‘hidden’ meanings - along with their unique ability to ‘predict’ the future. I’m not saying I don’t like, or feel differently about Cohen though, esp with this song in particular - he too was somewhat ahead of his time, unknowingly writing about the 👎 state of our world 🌎 today, and the multiple, terrible situations.

I feel confident that the Mandela effect is foretold in the 'things are gonna slide' and 'won't be nothing you can measure anymore' lines too.. Before the effect was really common or known! Except, alot of us think this song is one.. We don't remember it, and we remember different versions too. He was a sort of prophet, but not a typical one, alot of his work was placed in the past to comment on arcane events as they unfolded or concluded..

@Biblical Loyalist If I die this moment I simply wouldn't exist anymore. There is nothing after death. What makes us us, our character, is our brain. When that stops working, what generally is the same as death, we, as real persons more or less stop existing. There is no soul, nothing that could move into a imagined afterlife or whatever. What isn't measurable has no effect. We are far enough advanced to be able to say that then no soul or the like exists.
