There is a crack in everything, that is how the light gets in. - best statement about life ever - Rest in peace Leonard xx
I believe this refers to Kabballah, where the creation of the universe (and take the rest of this quite symbolically) involved a "vessel" that could not hold the holy Light and fractured, and our job is to find all the pieces. Not in a physical sense of pieces of a ceramic pot, but the parts of the world that reject the divine Light. Unfortunately, people have a vast disagreement of what that Light really is.
The older I get, the more deeply I understand his songs. No longer from my intellect, but from my experience. It's a much more profound experience listening now compared to my younger years. So moving. Thank you, Leonard.
I feel the same; truly much of his lyrics are so deep, sometimes I can only understand them and treasure them genuinely, by listen to my heart and experiences. Anyways love this epic piece of music and outstanding lyrics.

On December 10th, I lost everything I own to a tornado. It was the day before my wedding. I got married in a church without electricity. I started picking up the pieces before leaving for my honeymoon. I just found this song the other day, and have been listening on repeat. “The birds they sang At the break of day Start again, I heard them say Don’t dwell on what has passed away Or what is yet to be.” These lyrics give me a lot of hope right now, and speak so much truth in this uncertain time.
This might sound wholly insane, but sometimes beginnings-such as weddings. births, and other wonderful things- get one helluva horrible start. I am sorry you went through this on your wedding day, but now and then starting from less than "zero" helps with the rest of the journey. Best to you and your spouse!
Humanity was blessed the day that this man was born. What a beautiful gift to us from the universe. So thankful to have lived through a time period where I had the immense pleasure of enjoying such a profound artist.
I remember walking with my parents..me about 4 years old on my dad’s shoulders with my mom and siblings waking on starlit nights to and from my grandma’s house singing this song! I don’t think I’ve ever felt so safe nor will ever again! My dad has since passed away and now my mom is 89 and sick in the hospital! I wish I could go right back there!😢

One of the most beautiful & melodious men’s voices is Leonard Cohen’s. How I love to listen to him sing. God bless him for gifting him with a soothing voice which touches one’s soul & heart. 🙏🙏🙏
This man... This man....I cannot describe.... he made me: He is all I ever will be. He shaped my opinions on every subject under the sun. About everything. Love...money...respect... life..... I owe him everything I hold dear to my heart. He owns me. My wife will never know where I get my values from. This man cemented my beliefs & fears....Made me whole. Thankyou. Leonard Cohen. One of the greatest human beings. Ever.
Unfortunately there will never be another Leonard Cohen. He is part of the time when there was still Hope. Now we are heading to total destruction. There is no Hope anymore. Noe knew why he took only animals on his Arch. Maybe the next Humanity will be better. This one calls to vanish.

Lynn and I were fortunate to see Leonard Cohen perform live 3 times in our lives and each time is embedded indelibly on our memories as if it was only yesterday. I will always remember the energy that he displayed as he rebounded back on the Vancouver stage for a final encore at the age of 75, as if he was only 21. The music and poetry of this man has impacted us more than any other artist. We miss him immeasurably.
Oh my goodness I wa sjust thinking of that show- I was thee with you as well...feels like it was yesterday, an din a dream, yet th emost mystical, dream-like experience I have ever had. He is with us- in us, more than ever.
Grew up in the 70's with this amazing guy being a huge part of our lives with his music. I know of no other artist then and now who was more appreciative of his audience and fellow musicians than leonard cohen. A legend always. Rip leonard, you'll never be forgotten.
I can listen to him over a d over again, each time with same amazement at his ingenuity, mistycism. Spirituality and common sense that everyone can relate to, all religions, atheists, astetc and addicts. Cohen music is universal and eternal...forever

Made notice of how he mentioned Sharon Robertson as "collaborator". She might be the best reason why Cohen could go on as a performer and artist in his later years.
The birds they sang At the break of day "Start again" I seem to hear them say Do not dwell on what has passed away Or what is yet to be Ah, the wars they will be fought again The holy dove, she will be caught again Bought and sold, and bought again The dove is never free Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack, a crack in everything That's how the light gets in 🎵🎶🎵🎶 We asked for signs The signs were sent The birth betrayed The marriage spent Yeah, and the widowhood Of every single government Signs for all to see I can't run no more With that lawless crowd While the killers in high places Say their prayers out loud But they've summoned, they've summoned up A thundercloud They're going to hear from me Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack, a crack in everything That's how the light gets in 🎵🎶🎵🎶 You can add up the parts But you won't have the sum You can strike up the march There is no drum Every heart, every heart To love will come But like a refugee Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack, a crack in everything That's how the light gets in Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack, a crack in everything That's how the light gets in That's how the light gets in That's how the light gets in
The.elegant acknowledgement of each performer by Maestro Cohen is as moving as the beautiful performances themselves. An exalting performance. Thank you to all.
Hits me everytime!!! So beautiful lyrics - the great one might be gone - but his music and poetry lives on!!! Thank you Mr. Cohen for your contribution to this world... from my heart, thank you!!!
Leonard Cohen's music is there for all of us to discover, return to, and sit with in all phases of our lives. Seeing him several times was not just a concert but a communal experience I will never forget.
Raw emotion, raw honesty, deeply spiritual from a human perspective. Leonard Cohen was one of a kind. I discovered his music later on in my life and I feel more connected to his words and music these days. Thank you Mr. Cohen.
Followed and Loved Leonard for 48yrs...saw him in this Concert in Australia. Wife bought me Gold front row ticvckets as a gift...apart fro Bowie and Queen who I also saw live and not30 feet away, THIS was up there with the best concert I ever saw in my life and I saw ALL THE GREATS...Dylan included... and I will take the joy of that night to the grave, which is sadly not too far off for me now:(. I'm not spiritual or Religious in any way but man if I got to meet him in some sort of alternative quantum existence. I'd welcome it for an eternity. PEACE.
This legend past away but his Music and Poetry will never die, because: CLASSIC! Leonard Cohen really deserves the Nobel Price póstumo,..!! He really deserves!!!
When I'd heard that Bob Dylan would be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, I immediately thought, "next year will be Cohen's year!". Sadly, LC was gone within the year.
Incredible performance, and even though it was probably more common back in the day, it's touching the way he introduces every performer to the audience so they can be appreciated. There are plenty of singer/songwriters that would barely even speak to their fellow band members, let alone give them any time on stage to take any adulation.
(google tradutor) I always liked this part of the show, after all, they are all professionals of a high level. Leonard recognized that and should be proud of the group he worked with.
I only discovered him during the first lockdown. A friend sent a video clip of ‘My Secret Life’ which I thought was amazing. I delved deeper then … oh what such rapture listening to his poetic words. I am a big Genesis and Phil Collins fan yet the stage presence of this amazing guy at age 80 was total and deeper than I’ve seen from anyone. God bless u Leonard x
Oh yeah he's your Man, forget your offering ! Even with the crack in everything , he brings the light within every sound .with the tone of his voice . With the words that he speaks! That is how the light gets in. I really love this .but who don't! Who wouldn't. What's not to love .
One could say, we were robbed of the delight of having Leonard being with us. Or, we could look at it like Leonard might, and think, we were grateful for the time we had with him.
Your songs will last forever, no one will ever be able to write songs like you, we're lucky to have you by our side in the restless nights, in times of trouble, in the midst of joy and laughter. Thank you for being there always. You are irreplaceable. This world needs more people like you. Rest in peace, wherever you are.

I love how seriously Cohen took his calling. He’s the ultimate ‘stare at the page until beads of blood appear on your forehead’ kind of writer. The never let go tenacity of staring into a song sometimes for years until it emerges. He’ll only get more relevant.

One of the most beautiful & melodious men’s voices is Leonard Cohen’s. How I love to listen to him sing. God bless him for gifting him with a soothing voice which touches one’s soul & heart. 🙏🙏🙏
Very few artists reach the recesses of human soul that Cohen did.
This man... This man....I cannot describe.... he made me:
He is all I ever will be.
Ever.
the world needs more LEONARD COHEN
How true! An amazing person and a great poet!!
never be another
Unfortunately there will never be another Leonard Cohen.
He is part of the time when there was still Hope.
Now we are heading to total destruction.
There is no Hope anymore.
Noe knew why he took only animals on his Arch.
Maybe the next Humanity will be better. This one calls to vanish.
Thank you Leonard Cohen for your gift

Such grace. Such reverence. Thank you Mr Cohen for gifting us with your songs. May your memory be an eternal blessing.

What a fortunate thing that you both got to see/hear him in person. So so soulful!
I envy you both. I just discovered this wonderfully talented man...he owns a bit of my ♥️

He even introduces the musicians in a poetic way. God, how great he was (is)!
Privileged to see him in concert at Sydney Entertainment Centre mid ‘80s. He is the real deal. Consummate performer. ❤❤❤
The geniuine article ❤
I can listen to him over a d over again, each time with same amazement at his ingenuity, mistycism. Spirituality and common sense that everyone can relate to, all religions, atheists, astetc and addicts. Cohen music is universal and eternal...forever
Amazing!
... and with each listen a new revelation ✨️
Writing this on my beloved darling wife's ipad, she has recently passed away, I am broken after more 50 years together, this is pure magical truth. Keith Kennedy

I’m sorry Ada, I meant Madam not Sir I read your name as Adam who was my GrandPapa. I was going through a time of it so I was a bit tired to read your name. I hope you are doing ok Ada…Love and healing blessings. 🤍🕊🤍
It´s a pleasure to hear and see this great poet and singer in concert!
Touched deeply by Cohen's heartfelt appreciation and acknowledgement of his orchestra members. Very beautiful.
~~~Yes Rao ~~
Made notice of how he mentioned Sharon Robertson as "collaborator". She might be the best reason why Cohen could go on as a performer and artist in his later years.
@@somniavitasunt True that
SUPER
truly, this is how the light gets in, this man with all his love and wisdom...look how he takes off his hat for his musicians.
Loved him for many many decades....thank you for the songs
This song is timeless and relevant everyday. l love it so much.
He was such a beautiful soul. I'm 74 and I'll keep playing his music as long as I can.
The birds they sang
At the break of day
"Start again"
I seem to hear them say
Do not dwell on what has passed away
Or what is yet to be
Ah, the wars they will be fought again
The holy dove, she will be caught again
Bought and sold, and bought again
The dove is never free
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
🎵🎶🎵🎶
We asked for signs
The signs were sent
The birth betrayed
The marriage spent
Yeah, and the widowhood
Of every single government
Signs for all to see
I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
🎵🎶🎵🎶
You can add up the parts
But you won't have the sum
You can strike up the march
There is no drum
Every heart, every heart
To love will come
But like a refugee
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
That's how the light gets in
That's how the light gets in
Hvala
The dove is never free...such bleak reality but better than a lie still.
And the bells - as old and powerful as an image can be. The resonance of his voice, his extraordinary respect for his “troupe” - RING loudly!!!
Hello Sara Hope you're enjoying this song. He's my favorite musical artists I love his songs. And how are you doing today if I may ask?
The.elegant acknowledgement of each performer by Maestro Cohen is as moving as the beautiful performances themselves. An exalting performance. Thank you to all.
Hits me everytime!!! So beautiful lyrics - the great one might be gone - but his music and poetry lives on!!! Thank you Mr. Cohen for your contribution to this world... from my heart, thank you!!!
Leonard Cohen's music is there for all of us to discover, return to, and sit with in all phases of our lives. Seeing him several times was not just a concert but a communal experience I will never forget.
The world was blessed with the talent of Leonard Cohen and he is missed by many. He was a gift to us all.
Це правда. Я також його обожнюю.
.
His voice and words speak volumes.
My sis and I have enjoyed this masterpiece through out our lives.
I love how he truly loves everyone attending the concert and his colleagues and fellow musicians. I miss this man so much.
There is a crack in everything....that's how the light gets in.
Beautiful.
Ring the bells that still can ring!
Raw emotion, raw honesty, deeply spiritual from a human perspective. Leonard Cohen was one of a kind. I discovered his music later on in my life and I feel more connected to his words and music these days. Thank you Mr. Cohen.
Großartiger Leonard Cohen, der sehr bescheiden sich nicht in den Mittelpunkt stellt, sondern den anderen Musikern beim Auftritt seinen Respekt zollt. Hut ab vor diesem herausragenden Künstler und seiner wunderschönen berührenden Musik.
Makes me cry every time...
Same for me !
hope to meet you in heaven...!!!
Real beauty always does that to me.
The universe spoke to us thru this very special man
He spoke from that place
Followed and Loved Leonard for 48yrs...saw him in this Concert in Australia. Wife bought me Gold front row ticvckets as a gift...apart fro Bowie and Queen who I also saw live and not30 feet away, THIS was up there with the best concert I ever saw in my life and I saw ALL THE GREATS...Dylan included... and I will take the joy of that night to the grave, which is sadly not too far off for me now:(. I'm not spiritual or Religious in any way but man if I got to meet him in some sort of alternative quantum existence. I'd welcome it for an eternity. PEACE.
This legend past away but his Music and Poetry will never die, because: CLASSIC! Leonard Cohen really deserves the Nobel Price póstumo,..!! He really deserves!!!
When I'd heard that Bob Dylan would be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, I immediately thought, "next year will be Cohen's year!". Sadly, LC was gone within the year.
Incredible performance, and even though it was probably more common back in the day, it's touching the way he introduces every performer to the audience so they can be appreciated. There are plenty of singer/songwriters that would barely even speak to their fellow band members, let alone give them any time on stage to take any adulation.
I always liked this part of the show, after all, they are all professionals of a high level. Leonard recognized that and should be proud of the group he worked with.
Dylan's been on the road FOREVER and I'll bet ya he's yet to introduce ANYONE!
This good man is amazingly WONDERFUL Thank u
2020: I am so sad that it took me so long to find the INCREDIBLE Leonard Cohen. Thank you for the amazing songs. WHAT A LEGEND
Amen...it took to 2021 for me....sadly.Bob Baker.Australia.
It's tooks you so long to find Léonard but at least, you find her..That's better as never.
Kisses from France.
I just recently discovered him, and he is all I am listening to now.
I, too, just discovered him this year, 2022. I'm sad for all the years I missed.
I only discovered him during the first lockdown. A friend sent a video clip of ‘My Secret Life’ which I thought was amazing. I delved deeper then … oh what such rapture listening to his poetic words. I am a big Genesis and Phil Collins fan yet the stage presence of this amazing guy at age 80 was total and deeper than I’ve seen from anyone. God bless u Leonard x
Oh yeah he's your Man, forget your offering ! Even with the crack in everything , he brings the light within every sound .with the tone of his voice . With the words that he speaks! That is how the light gets in. I really love this .but who don't! Who wouldn't. What's not to love .
One could say, we were robbed of the delight of having Leonard being with us. Or, we could look at it like Leonard might, and think, we were grateful for the time we had with him.
Your songs will last forever, no one will ever be able to write songs like you, we're lucky to have you by our side in the restless nights, in times of trouble, in the midst of joy and laughter. Thank you for being there always. You are irreplaceable. This world needs more people like you. Rest in peace, wherever you are.
Danke. So viel Respekt vor den Menschen.
So bewegend wie er seine Bandmitglieder vorstellt.
Schade, dass es ihn nicht mehr gibt.
Ah, I miss you, Leonard. Thank you for guiding me in the dark.
This is such a beautiful and reverent troop - each talented individually and harmonious together. Leonard Cohen was a poet, a performer, a priest.
У кого не навернулись слёзы ? Как трогательно , гармонично , восхитительно все в этом человеке . Дай Господи, чтобы мы все встретили осень своей жизни в такой душевной красоте 🙏❤️
Un si grand artiste un monument qui impose respect et communion je vous aimerai toute ma vie avec l’immense regret de n’avoir jamais assisté à un concert……..😢
Ich liebe dieses Lied. Es ist voller Gefühl und läßt mich für eine kurze Zeit alle Ängste und Sorgen vergessen.....
I love how seriously Cohen took his calling. He’s the ultimate ‘stare at the page until beads of blood appear on your forehead’ kind of writer. The never let go tenacity of staring into a song sometimes for years until it emerges. He’ll only get more relevant.
A humble genuine man with faults like all of us with words eternal
Uwielbiam Cohena! Tak prosto i tak pięknie! Nie musiał brylować. Wystarczy głos. Ciepło płynie z serca!
