After watching your video i am really happy! You are after a really long search the only one who talks about the replaceability of the Stem and Handlebar ! Thank you very much!!!
I’ve just had a test ride on this at Canyons HQ in Koblenz. I’m 188cm tall, 91.5cm inside leg,and although the geometry chart on the Canyon website suggests that I need a large the staff there told me that they recommend a medium as it’s a long bike. All of the staff said I spoke to said that in their experience everyone needs to go down a size. The medium felt like my Endurace large, both in position and handling. I tried a large and it felt enormous was not comfortable. I normally ride a 58 Specialized Diverge, and this felt so much more nimble and fast. The lighter weight probably makes most of the difference, but it felt good. I’m tempted, but I really want a mullet gearing with a 10-52 and 42 chainring. I love climbing and technical surfaces but I only have an FTP of 215, and at 66 I’m not going to get any fitter. The Crux may be an option but I’d like downtube storage and top tube mounts. The Enve Mog is another one I’ve looked at but haven’t ridden. Ben, you’ve ridden them all, how would you compare the Mog to the Grail? I’m looking for a fast gravel bike that can handle the rougher stuff and be comfortable on long rides (100km+),but I don’t want to go bikepacking .
That is great that you can test ride at HQ. The MOG and the new Grail are similar now in some ways, like the MOG's 71.25 to the Grail's 71.5 head angles. Grail is longer wheelbase, and much longer top tube. MOG can take a 50mm tire to the Grail's 42mm. Depending on how rough and technical you want to get, that tire clearance factor may be the key part. I'm with you on no bikepacking. :-)
I'm 193 cm, 93 cm inside leg; and was between large and XL in the canyon size app. Canyon recommended i sized down for the grail. Happy I did. The bike is perfect in L.
Funny how the geo which we thought wasn’t completely suitable is now the new best thing. This stiffer setup will no doubt give you some harsh feedback. I like that they have so new storage options but giving gravel riders an aero seat post over comfort is going to be interesting. I look forward to riding reviews on this model. The locked in cockpit is going to make some enemies.
Hehe. Fair. The cockpit is interesting; I suspect many people can hop on, adjust their saddle height and fore/aft, and pedal off without issue. But the bike world has been telling (and selling) people to dial in their fit for so long, and this effectively takes the stance that a stock fit is all most anyone needs.
Nice review. I like the idea of customising stem length and bar width at time of purchase, makes perfect sense. I really like the cockpit and aero Garmin mount. So cool. Gotta love Canyons constant innovation. I have the cheapest grail AL and it’s a great bike.
I received my Giant Revolt Advanced O 2023 in the lovely plum colour the same day this bike was released... For a few hours I was having a little bit of FOMO but quickly realised that the Revolt wins imho because of cables, tyre clearence, cockpit and overall comfort. At least I hope so.
Thanks. I totally agree with cockpit limitations. I'd like to be able to get an uncut steerer and be able to pick bar and stem sizes. Also, don't like what looked like a proprietary seatpost shape.
Great video, as usual. I found the aero bar option one of the bigger draws to this updated bike. I love the Ostro for maybe one of the best integrated clip-on options available, but don't love the max tire clearance on the OSTRO VAM. Love the additions to storage, don't love the stock bar widths either, but at least it's not 1.25" steerer; so glad to see them making the steerer 1.125" to allow third party, like maybe an ENVE or Black Inc cockpit or just separate stem/bar options. The inability of the AeroRoad is the main reason I haven't picked up that bike as my aero road option.
Regarding the complaint of not being able to select handlebar/stem sizes, I brought this up to a Canton employee at SBT. He assured me that it’s in the works to be implemented, but is a bit down the road. So hopefully that comes to fruition. Now for a wall of text The number one thing I’m stuck on is the bike’s wheelbase/reach. My 2XL Grizl is smaller in both departments than the new XL Grail, and that blows me away. Ben, if you have any experience with singletrack or something like a CX course with the bike, I would love to know your thoughts on how it handles aggressive turning. I was planning to buy this bike in a size down from my Grizl due to a better overall position for me being with an 80mm stem. The problem that creates for me, however, is the bike handling in a way that even the slightest turn of the bars causes me to nearly dump the bike. So seeing the geometry much larger with the cockpit being smaller has me scratching my head on what to do. I love everything else the bike has to offer, but man that 2XL is a long boi
Will be interesting to see if they can pull off the pick-your-bar option. I get them wanting to simplify their shipping and warehousing, but they gotta understand that riders are interested in their own fit, not Canyon's streamlining. I'll do more riding on a variety of surfaces, roads/trails, and holler back. At first blush, it does feel more mountain bikey with the slacker/longer handling paired with a stubby stem.
Hello TyTy, it seems as though you have put some thought into the geo of your bikes. Can I get your opinion on sizing? I am considering a Grizl, and cannons calculator puts me teetering between XL and XXL. I am 6’5”/36”inseam. I have been comfortably riding a 2019 checkpoint 61cm, but feel it is too small and upright.
A Canyon owner x4 now, 3 MTBs and the Grizl. I have not had any real problems with the bikes out of the box or long term at this point. The value is phenomenal, bike shops can't compete. If you plan to ride long miles on their bikes, know your bike fit well, as you may have to size up or down depending on your body type if you fall between sizes. They have a 30 day return policy if you blow the size, so that is a peace of mind. Go Ben :). Western slope old guy
I've been experimenting with a mullet setup and it is making me wish more and more companies made all their bikes with UDH compatibility. Looking forward when road/gravel groupsets can utilize the performance benefits of the direct mount derailleurs :)
Thanks, Ben, I really appreciate your taking us into your garage for a look-see at new bikes and new components and what not. And with wins in Kansas and the Worlds, Canyon has already proven that bike is good and what's the new sales adage, Win in Kansas, ship yours anywhere. Something like that. And it is nice that bike can accept other bars and stems, stock ones seem too wide and better to have the option to swap. Please tell us more about the ride. 😀
Great review. Agree on your comment to Canyon about ordering different size bars/cranks. I just bought an Endurace CF SLX Red AXS eTap. I needed a large but ride 172.5 cranks. It only comes with 175's. So, I knew when ordering I was going to change them Funny thing, when I assembled the bike, it actually had 172.5's. So, their mistake saved me time and money. Get bike, wholly support Canyon and their consumer direct business model. Th days of 14,750.00 S-Works Roubaix are behind me.
Thanks Ben! I love the new geo, and the frame storage. I think one could fit 45s if needed, as long as it was not for muddy riding? I wish, wish, wish Canyon would consider selling the frameset (frame, post, integrated bar) packages for the CFR-I prefer to build up my own bikes to my preferred spec; at least for the top level frame. And you are right, online consumers should be able to pick their integrated bar/stem set up to suit at the time of order. But the price is so good on Canyons, I guess swapping out later is not too big a deal. I am currently on a Stigmata 3, but am looking for a new bike with bit longer wheelbase/reach, with a lower BB, for a bit more stability and a little more forgiving handling. This appears to offer that without being as radically "new school" as the Stigmata 4.
Great as always Ben. So stoked to see you got in the new Grail. Been waiting daily for this thing to drop! Finally! Definitely looking forward to the long term review. Not meaning to open up a can of worms at all but hmmmm, wondering what a different wheel set would do here. For use on pavement and trail (Los Angeles). Cheers!
Thanks. Like any gravel bike, it would be capable on the road. Two things to consider when putting on another wheelset with skinny tires: -a gravel bike's low BB will get even lower going from 40s to 28s or whatever, and that could be an inadvertent pedal strike in a corner -gearing might not be quite sufficient, depending on your preferences for group rides and such
Didn't think of the BB being lower with 28's or 30's. Excellent catch. Thxs. I am stuck btw new Grail and S Works Crux. I know it's big $ no matter what but I'm old/this will be my splurge/one and done. Quick question, feel free to shoot from the hip... compliance/smoother ride... new Grail or Crux? Oh that wheel set I mentioned is Capital SL 40's coming out spring. Cheers!@@TheRidewithBenDelaney
Nice bike! Thanks for the video... I never got the whole integrated handlebar and stem thing in the bike Industry, feels like a solution for problem that doesn't exist.... It's interesting that they're moving to mountain bike geometry, however, I would suggest that the thing that holds a gravel bike back is not the geometry, its rubber on ground, so I wouldn't imagine you'll get the full benefits of mountain bike geometry with gravel tires so I would put this more in the bucket of marketing than absolute translatable performance results for ya bucks.
This is the best introduction I have seen so far! Well done :-) Keep it up Ben ... Greets from Germany ... Ride on ;-) However you mentioned the wrong price for your CFR model ! Check that at 15:40...
I hated the look of that frame bag, but you made me re-think about. The colour schemes available are a bit of a let down, the top end being the only one I like. I'm sold on the bars though, that "Corsair" wing I really dig. Congrats on your renewed partnerships, looking forward to more episodes of accurate content.
I love what they have done with internal storage and the bag. 1.1/8" steerer is cool. New seatpost design is good. Don't love that they use bb86. Excellent for Shimano, but DUB bearings in 41mm frames is not good for longevity or performance.
Best approach is to swap out the BB for a BB Infinite single piece set up when the OE starts getting cranky. The single piece BB Infinite ones for Dub work well.
@@barrowsworm1226 better, but there’s still no getting around the physical limitations of a ø28,99mm spindle in a ø41mm frame. Bearing size is an issue no matter what. Canyon could go to a pf386evo. I've worked as a mechanic for 15 years and much prefer pressfit.
I have put 4000 miles on the bearing size which BB Infinite uses with no issues with a Dub spindle, the BB is still totally smooth (1 clean and re-grease), so I am sold that this approach is a viable solution for Dub spindles in a PF 41mm shell. The 1 piece BB shells also use an internal bearing sleeve which avoids the problem of some users applying excess pre load.@@AndreasHappyfarm
Tire clearance is technically at 700x 42 mm, but Canyon points out that's with fenders, so the effective maximum tire size is closer to 700×45 mm (40 mm-wide tires come stock across the board)
Great review! Ive been waiting for this one for awhile now. Im with you on the bar issue, let me pick my width when i buy it. A few years ago they had this option on the aeroad or ultimate si hopefully they bring that back. Geometry is very Stigmata-esque which i think is a good thing and love the tuxedo and the bronze paint jobs 👌
The inability to run a dropper post is a HUGE drawback and the one piece bar and stem rules out a suspension stem - I love my RedShift on rocky, bumpy surfaces. Aero profile also makes it a struggle fitting a bar bag. That, and the press fit BB make it a big no from me.
Great Review Ben! i have a question regarding the cockpit though I'm thinking of getting a grail and swapping out the cockpit for a traditional Bar-Stem as i prefer my bars on the narrower side of things. i noticed you mentioned "witching out" the bars in the end of the video if i interpreted it correctly, i was wondering how its going for you on that front.
Finally a review of the grail I can agree with. Yes the integrated handlebars and stem is a big, I mean massive issue for me. Im staying well away from it until Canyon realizes that we costumers are not made of money. 44cm handlebars is massive. It a no no for me in my opnion.
Worst kept secret indeed. Been waiting for the official cover to come off the new Grail since Unbound. I have the older Grail CF SLX w/ Di2 which I am taking to Big Sugar next week. Really interested in hearing your thoughts on how this new one compares to something like the Revolt which I have experience with as my son has one with mech GRX. Have loved the features and value the older Grail offers but have grown to really enjoy the ride of the Revolt as it is more planted feeling versus the twitchiness of the older Grail. Also, Canyon customer service has been great in the 2.5 yrs I have had mine when needed which got me passed the DTC concerns. Looking forward to hearing your full-on review.
Nice job Ben, fun to watch your transition from being a "snooty" roadie to all things gravel haha ! Sometime in the future could you cover the bars and the aero bars in a video where you setup and ride them ? Their website currently shows the aero-cockpit setup available Spring of 2024 and don't mention the 400mm pro model or show the bolt on aero bars available at all.
Thanks for this review, Ben! I've been waiting for this one and am excited to hear more. Do you know if the bike comes with a frame bag? I would assume not but I also don't see it available for purchase on Canyon's website. I am also quite happy they've provided, what appears to be, well-built fenders and options for fork mounts (or lack of).
Was leaning towards an SLX 8 AXS in "metal grind" but Canyon have pulled the variant... Now rooting for a Grizl upgrade; UDH, maybe same geo as Grail and keep the 50mm tyre clearance.
So the Grail is now longer/slacker than their supposedly more offroad oriented Grizl. Makes me think the Grizl is in need of a refresh. Also, I get keeping that low tire clearance differentiates it from the Grizl but it just seems unnecessarily limiting. They could have boosted it to 45mm and then bumped up the Grizl in its next refresh to something like 29x2.25 to make it more versatile for truly rough offroad adventuring.
Hi Ben, once again an amazing review, in your style, love it. Question, how would you compare this bike to the BMC Kaius, in terms of riding stiffness and comfort?
Thanks. The Kaius may be a tiny bit more forgiving, but it's been months since I've been on that so I don't have an immediate back-to-back feel, sorry. Pedaling/steering stiffness I'd say they are on par.
Adding the Cervelo Aspero to this comparison. Would you say the Aspero is still the most stiff? In terms of handling I assume the Aspero is the most direct because of the shortest wheelbase? Great review and can’t wait to hear the deep dive!
Nice straightforward review. What a relief! Thanks Ben. …The new Grail is definitely a contender in the gravel race / all-road category now. However, the limitation on reach adjustment with those stock bars with only a 70mm! stem is too short for me. It’s not a mountain bike! My Cervelo Aspero in size 56 is 10mm shorter in the frame than a size M Grail, but I need a 100mm stem on the Aspero, leaving the stock Grail stem 20mm short. Big problem Canyon ...as if it’s only human beings' leg length that differs and not torso or arms! LOL. So much for being environmentally friendly, just throw away those fancy stock bars if they don't happen to fit!? Hmmm...
Cheers Ben, I’ll watch with interest. …Have you reviewed any 3T Exploro’s or Open bikes lately? (none came up in a search). I’ve become a Gerard Vroomen devotee, via Cervelo to 3T. My 3T Exploro Ultra is exceptional, though I’m considering swapping the SRAM AXS mullet for GRX 12 speed 2x mechanical …rad I know! LOL ...not sure electronic 1x gearing on gravel bikes is all its cracked up to be. @@TheRidewithBenDelaney
I have the OG Grail 2018 with the Hover bar. Not being able to qdjust the front end is my only complaint, this does not change that. Great bike otherwise...cant beat the price point. A similar specked LBS bike is $2k more.
Great review as always. Just a heads up regarding the handlebars - running anything except the stock bars voids the warranty on the bike. This according to Canyon when I spoke to them a week ago or so.
I'm surprised that they're still hanging on to a press fit BB with a completely new model. It would make it much easier to service at home, especially for a DTC brand. I think they needed to go stiffer also because they already have the Grizl and didn't want too much product overlap. Digging: The bag, the storage options and that they kept the 1x and 2x drivetrains. I like the handlebar but I could see how it's limiting and can be a pain to work on at home. They seem to be taking the Apple approach to by offering lots of various add-ons for a cost. I'm wondering if SRAM AXS 2x would have been a better option than Di2 especially with the easy availability of the powermeters and being true wireless? Not loving: As mentioned BB, paint colors, and configurability. I wish they'd even go a bit further than letting you spec handlebar widths and stem length, how about wheels? I know this introduces more complexity on their end and rather than pumping out thousands of preconfigured bikes, they'd have to actually build them for a consumer but it makes happier customers. I'd also like to see at least a one side powermeter on the $5400 spec.
Excellent review as always. I ended up buying a 2020 Trek Checkpoint SL6 because of your great review few years ago. Now I'm looking a new gravel bike and this one is in my shortlist, and because of that, I'd like to ask you if this new Canyon "D shape" seatpost can be replaced by regular rounded one like it's doable in the Giant Advance Revolt and Canyon Grizl. Do you like better this new Canyon Grail or the Giant Revolt Advance? Thanks again for your great video and hope you can advise me in between the new Grail or the Giant Advance Revolt
Thanks, Cesar. Checkpoint is still a great bike, I think. No, you're stuck with Canyon posts on this bike. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but certainly something to be aware of. Revolt vs Grail.... that's a tough one! I want to spend more time on this bike with bars that fit me better. The Revolt is a bit more comfortable with more flex in the post. Not a lot, but it's noticeable, I think. So the verdict... I will need a little more time for.
This seems to be a bike designed for pros competing in a limited series of races, who have a quiver of bikes to choose from. An aero seatpost is stupid and all gravel bikes should have a round seatpost that allows for the option of adding a dropper. The tire width, works for mad lads who are pushing at the front, but for the rest of us who will be riding this on various trails on the weekend, wider tires would have been nice. I just jumped on the site and nothing is in stock, which is pretty much always the case I look on their website.
Ah, I don't think it's just for pros. Definitely a competition- or speed-focused bike for sure, which can be a good option for folks who like riding dirt roads and don't want or need big tires. I think they're doing a good job of differentiation with the Grizl being the all-rounder/big tire/bikepacking/underbiking option.
Yeah, the tire size is limited because they wanted to give the pros the ability to put a giant front chainring on, that we mortals will never be able to turn. But your tire size is limited by it nevertheless.
@LuisGarcia-iz2xx Pros: better value for money, more comfy seatpost cons: external cables, no option to change stem/handlebar if it does not fit you If you don't mind the look of old handlebars (actually I do really like it, and I find it useful as well - more stable position in descents), than the older model is just as good :) The only real reason to buy new one is, that you are able to dial in your position better with interchangeble stem/handelbars.... internal storage (and nice frame bag) on new one is nice, but I would not care about that that much :D
Yet another defect of this integrated cockpit is that you cannot even modify the bar angle. It prevents you from having your preferred bar angle, e.g., at the drops.
Hello Ben. Verry helpfull your revieuws! Do you have allready tested the bike with an another Handlebar? What were your problems with the original? What handlebar do you consider?
Glad to hear it. Yes, I did swap over the bars, just to get a longer reach. I don't have a problem with the shape, it's just the fixed dimensions that can pose a potential issue depending on your preferences. ruclips.net/video/N_Npybu_25I/видео.html
Where is the Di2 Junction A(Charging port)? I regret buying the SRAM Rival version, and thinking about swapping my GRX Di2 on, but it looks like it doesn't have the holes to run the bar-end Di2 junction box. Thanks for the thoughtful reviews!
@@TheRidewithBenDelaney thanks mate. Got Di2 all sorted. Noticed in your other video that it only has holes for the junction on the right side, and I had only unwrapped the left to check for holes. Good news is that even the lowest end bar (no gear groove) is still Di2 capable!
Does the higher stiffness of the CRF carbon frame noticeably reduce the riding comfort? I'd be interested in whether the CRF and CF SLX feel different, and whether the CF SLX might actually be a better choice for an amateur who only rides for fun.
I think headtube angle in this case is not about it being race'y or not, and rather it is about the bike not behaving twitchy with this silly short stem. They should not name it Grail, because these are different bikes. Not only head tube is slacker but they also increased fork offset/rake. 1st gen Grail was a gravel close to an endurance bike, and 2dn gen Grail is a gravel near XC territory. I feel like their lineup is missing a most useful kind of gravel bike, and all-road build of Endurace does not fill this gap.
@@TheRidewithBenDelaney It has similar geometry to Grail gen 1 + all "adventure" features like large tire clearance, and mounting points everywhere. On bike with such geometry I would want to put ~35 mm tires, deep rims, and some nice aero bars (I don't care about aero I want my tops flat), which would make it look weird with its external cable routing and gaping empty space surrounding narrow tires.
I'll try it with other wheels and skinnier tires and let you know. Regarding 12spd GRX Di2, all Shimano will say is that it is coming, but not when. I believe they are waiting for their customers (the bike brands) to sell through a good portion of the 11spd GRX Di2 bikes they have in stock.
Nice thoughtful review. The old double bar was a sore spot, but since the entire front end of the OG Grail was built around it, I guess they were stuck. On this new one, it's another leap of faith witht he giant TT and stubby 70mm stem with overly wide bar. In the same price range, how would you stack the new Grail up against the Orbea Terra or the Basso Palta?
I haven't ridden either of those. Been talking to the Orbea USA folks, so I can remedy that one. On Basso, I don't believe they are available stateside.
If you have a Revolt, and like the fit and feel, then no. The Grail is definitely stiffer front and rear over the Revolt; whether that is good or bad is a preference thing. The Grail's storage is a plus over the Revolt, but the fixed bar/stem dimensions are not.
Thanks - kinda figured you would say that. Side note - the lower spec Grails don't get the storage either. Maybe one more season on the Revolt then @@TheRidewithBenDelaney
@@TheRidewithBenDelaney I'm just not sure if I'd like it better more mountain bike-y or not. I guess I have to wait for the new Stigmata to arrive in Germany and test it.
I weighed this medium at 18.61lb/8.44kg out of the box with cages and all the internal storage stuff. Subtract the cages and internal storage stuff and it's 17.7lb/8.03kg.
It looks pretty nice and its priced well in my opinion. However I love my Scott Addict Gravel 😎. Should I ever change bikes around this might be my consideration

Hey Ben, great review as always. Curious if you have any thoughts on the canyon mudguard bottles you had on the bike. I've tried some others and haven't really liked them but I think these were recently redesigned?
I actually quite like them. I have wanted to like other designs - riding Belgium farm roads=sweet; getting manure sprayed onto bottles=not so sweet - but the execution is never really great. Some have plastic half-domes that go over the nozzle. CamelBak has the little rubber covers, which look gray but are basically impossible to get back on with one hand while riding. This Canyon design is the best I have tried. The lid hinge dictates how you hold and drink, but it’s easy enough and you can close the lid with one hand. So yeah, I dig it. My wife and daughter have found the color an abomination, but I am sure there are others. 😁
Yeah, I really hate drinking dirt and animal feces and usually just end up wearing a pack but it's a pretty constant distraction for me. I had high hopes for the CamelBak but was similarly disappointed. These look promising as they also appear to be made of a softer material - similar to the Specialized HydroFlo Purist which is my fav water bottle. I may have to get one to try it out even though $15 shipping on a $15 bottle sticks in my craw. Thanks!
Customer service with Canyon is still lacking. If they ever get that in order, they will really be a force to be reckoned with. Until then, I think many will move on to others after multiple failed attempts to buy a bike.
Seems like a huge fail 42mm clearance and that looks REALLY tight at the rear. It'll be a nightmare in mud, and indeed was at the Unbound fiasco for some of the sponsored riders using it. People immediately commented on this is as soon as it broke cover in the Spring. It's mind boggling that Canyon went ahead with this. Also this is a really, really, really high reach frame, and without a steeper STA and slacker HTA of something like the BMC URS or Fezzari Schafer to compensate. Those very high up the ape index need only apply.
After watching your video i am really happy!
You are after a really long search the only one who talks about the replaceability of the Stem and Handlebar !
Thank you very much!!!
Glad that was helpful. I am going to do a video on swapping the bar/stem - just waiting on Canyon to tell me pricing and availability info.
Hehe.
Very detailed and thoughtful review. Interested in the ride impressions to follow.

Now for a wall of text
The number one thing I’m stuck on is the bike’s wheelbase/reach.
I'm within 2 cm of fitting on the XL. Not keen on sizing up to the 2XL, way too big. Wish they offered a longer seat post
How long have you had them?
I bought my first Canyon in spring 2019. That was not long after they started selling in the U.S.@@milan4ever
That 30-day policy is a confidence-booster. Thanks for mentioning.
The aero bar option is awesome. Opens the grail to the adventure ultra distance types 👍✌️✌️
True. The initial set up takes a bit of time, but once you have that dialed it’s quick to remove and reinstall.
thanks for the review! I wish they had a sram 2x option, maybe they are trying not to compete with their endurance model?
i don't like canyon, heck i am even not a roadie, nor a graveleur....BUT! i like good productreviews and nice bike content, so thank you!
Press fit BB? Deal killer!
I've been experimenting with a mullet setup and it is making me wish more and more companies made all their bikes with UDH compatibility. Looking forward when road/gravel groupsets can utilize the performance benefits of the direct mount derailleurs :)
Great review.
Can you please review the Rose Backroad FF. 🙌🏻
At that price this bike looks hard to beat. It incorporates just about everything I'm looking for.
gah, just realized that the tire clearance won't allow for the tires I like.
Thanks. At least one more video coming up in a bit.
Two things to consider when putting on another wheelset with skinny tires:
-a gravel bike's low BB will get even lower going from 40s to 28s or whatever, and that could be an inadvertent pedal strike in a corner
-gearing might not be quite sufficient, depending on your preferences for group rides and such
Didn't think of the BB being lower with 28's or 30's.
Thank you. That price is correct for the CF SLX 8 Di2 model, which is what they sent me there for demo. You are right, the CFR model is more.
Ben, Can you compare new grail and Giant revolt? Thanks.
I’m a fan of bb86, but t47 is just the best solution that should be adopted by all bikes.
Bb86 is great as a whole. But not with SRAM.
Looks soild - I'd still go for a Grizzl over the Grail IMO
Lo que hace pensar que la GRIZL es más capaz que la GRAIL
Great Review Ben! i have a question regarding the cockpit though
I'm thinking of getting a grail and swapping out the cockpit for a traditional Bar-Stem as i prefer my bars on the narrower side of things. i noticed you mentioned "witching out" the bars in the end of the video if i interpreted it correctly, i was wondering how its going for you on that front.
Finally got some info back from Canyon about it. Hopefully by February. Thanks for asking.
The dog is adorable....
See you in Bentonville.
I have the OG Grail - can’t really say it’s twitchy IMHO. Feels super stable.
Same here! Love my Lauf Seigla Race!
Sorry , I edited my Seigla love paragraph out, but we know the love! @@pandatactical4530
Yeah, good idea. I can definitely do a video on the three bar configurations I have: 44/40/aero extensions.
Saw the bar shape and was thinking the same thing being a Revolt rider. The geo is somewhat similar too, the Revolt having a taller stack though.
You are welcome. More to come. I assume the bag is separate; will ask on price.

Love the video!
Maybe a weird question, but if you would switch out the gravel tires for road bike tires, how would it perform?
I use a Ritchey Venture Max XL 50cm, better forget gravel racing. Also like the 45c tires on my Revolt. Off the back is ok .
This bike came out right after I purchased the the Grail CF SLX9 etap with the doble decker bars 😭
Hmmm...
Thanks. Sounds like we are the same size. I am going to put on a bar with a 90mm stem. Will do a video on that soon.
I'm here to see you sending it around Boulder
And I am here to hopefully see you on a Saturday ride again one of these days.
Really? Huh, good to know. Thank you.
Hi Ben, thank you for the video. How does the Grail ride feel compares to Ventum GS1?
Hi Ben. Thanks for your videos. Would you buy this bike with a predictable upgrade to Di2 coming this year?
Still hard to beat the old double decker grail, now in grx di2 and with dt swiss carbon wheels for 3 699 €
Why do you think the old one is better objectively? I'm in between the two
@LuisGarcia-iz2xx
Pros: better value for money, more comfy seatpost
cons: external cables, no option to change stem/handlebar if it does not fit you
If you don't mind the look of old handlebars (actually I do really like it, and I find it useful as well - more stable position in descents), than the older model is just as good :) The only real reason to buy new one is, that you are able to dial in your position better with interchangeble stem/handelbars.... internal storage (and nice frame bag) on new one is nice, but I would not care about that that much :D
@@gorgosvk12 sweet! Thanks you for the detailed answer! Really aprreciate it :D
Yet another defect of this integrated cockpit is that you cannot even modify the bar angle. It prevents you from having your preferred bar angle, e.g., at the drops.
He mentions the steerer is 1 1/8” so you can use a standard stem and bar if you wanted to
@@_dmart So you pay a premium price for the bicycle, only to pay even more just to set your bar angle.
@@TheRidewithBenDelaney What brand(s) and type(s) handlebar do you remmomand for graveling?
Where is the Di2 Junction A(Charging port)? I regret buying the SRAM Rival version, and thinking about swapping my GRX Di2 on, but it looks like it doesn't have the holes to run the bar-end Di2 junction box.
Thanks for the thoughtful reviews!
It goes in the bar end. I did this video about swapping bars and you can see it: ruclips.net/video/N_Npybu_25I/видео.htmlsi=4GjAiAPsTVz0cbvY
In another youtube review, it is said that CFR has 10% stiffer bottom bracket and 10% around the fork
What do you think about the Grizl?
@@TheRidewithBenDelaney It has similar geometry to Grail gen 1 + all "adventure" features like large tire clearance, and mounting points everywhere. On bike with such geometry I would want to put ~35 mm tires, deep rims, and some nice aero bars (I don't care about aero I want my tops flat), which would make it look weird with its external cable routing and gaping empty space surrounding narrow tires.
Interested in how it does “as a road bike” with 28-32mm wide road tires, and when you think 12-speed GRX Di2 might show up on these, if at all
I'll try it with other wheels and skinnier tires and let you know. Regarding 12spd GRX Di2, all Shimano will say is that it is coming, but not when. I believe they are waiting for their customers (the bike brands) to sell through a good portion of the 11spd GRX Di2 bikes they have in stock.
Those trials look 👀 familiar ;). What’s the weight!
Ben, is the update video on the Madone SL7 coming soon?
I just did a gravel race on it last weekend with some new wheels. So yeah, hopefully in the next few weeks.
When adjusting the headset stack, do you have to cut the steerer or is it like the new aeroad?
It has a traditional steerer, that you could either cut or put spacers above the stem. You've only got 20mm total to work with, though.
Hi, you’re on a medium, how tall are you? Thanks
So what do you think, its probably to fit 44mm tyres?
Hi, any news on a new grail ebike.
Does it come with the clamp for carbon rail saddle?
Do you mean an ovalized clamp? Yes.
Hello Ben thanks for the videos my friend! Tire clearance please?
42mm max
Basically means you can run 45mm in dry conditions
Ben, I just broke my Canyon GRIZL frame on a minor crash. I love this Grail but I’m a little scetched out now on light weight carbon bikes.
Where did the frame break? And what was the crash? Hope you're okay.
Question Ben - would you recommend a switch to the new Grail over the 2023 Revolt? Is there a viable upgrade there or too similar? Thanks

2.6k is not for the AXS version tho? Or is it? That would be an insane bargain …

Was it a nightmare at Unbound? Didn't Caro Schiff do quite well at that race riding this thing?
Hi Ben, who does it compare to the 3T Racemax you had in your videos before?
Ben - Canyon site in the US is stating 50mm for clearance. Can you confirm which is correct? Thanks for all the great content!
Perhaps you were looking at the Grizl spec? The Grail is definitely 42mm max recommended.
@@TheRidewithBenDelaney thank you. It was on their site and support confirmed it was a typo. 42 is the max :(
Great pronouncation of "Kasia"!
