I bought the 2.0. Been riding on gravel roads, dirt paths, and pavement. Great ride. I think most people would love this bike after riding it for 1 minute. My main reason for it was for rail trail rides.
I’ve been riding a Trek FX For 4 years now. Yesterday the neighbor across the street, had a garage sale and a friend of his put three bikes for sale across the street. One of them was a specialized, crossroads elite, it was barely ridden and about eight years old I would guess. After two days and over two hours of riding it, I like everything that you point out. It’s definitely a keeper.
Thanks. Just picked up 2 of these from Mackinac island.. 150 bucks each, very nice shape-used 1-2 yrs.then they sell them. They actually converted these just to the 7 gears because they had problems with the chains coming off for some reason When it was 12? Not sure of mechanics. But 7 is fine. Always wanted to get bikes from mackinaw parents since we go up there every year.. But you have to go beginning of the season or end of the season when they're selling.. Got lucky and there was 4 left at the end of may here and their beautifully smooth bikes. They said at the beginning of the season they were selling them for about 300 or so, so sweet deal. Nice bike. No problems with the brakes. It is one of the smoothest riding bikes I've riden.
November 6, 2021: I actually purchased a Specialized Crossroads 3.0 today. Reason - supply chain nightmare. I was considering a 2.0, but none available in Florida - only 2 Medium frames in Virginia. Local Pro Shop had 3.0 in Large Frame - I rode it, the 9 speed gearing (my biggest concern) with MicroShift rode really well. I spent $1,300 for the bike, a kickstand, and $115 lifetime service. We can't be selective these days. By the way: the Pro Bike Shop said no Black Fridays until 3 years later...
2.0 has a wider gear ratio that works better in hilly environments, like Seattle and the suburbs east in the mountains, so its more of a hybrid comfort analog to a mountain bike // you want to keep you pedal cadence to around 60 rpm when climbing, so more lower gears means hill climbing easier in extra low gears, though no matter what setup, you might be better off getting off and walking and pushing the bike on really step inclines ^^
I got the 2.0 in L or large size and love it! The Battleship Grey with Bright Green accents color slick, as are the hidden cables, seat post suspension, and its energy efficient. I scale deducted my body weight from my body holding the bike and I am 5'11" and weigh 160.7 and with the bike 192.2 so 31.5 lbs or about 14.2 KG. I like the way it rides! The welds are very nice stacking dimes clean too like you said!
Not disappointed. This bike belongs to my wife and she loves it. It just does not have strong brakes. Other than the brakes, the build quality is good.
@@brianrichard1768 thank you. Giant doesn’t sell the Sedona anymore from what I researched. They have the Cyprus model now. Any idea how it compares to the Crossroads
Disk brakes take a while to work good even hydraulic ones are weak till broken in. Ride bike on flat ground while lightly applying the brakes on and off.
What cup holder did you purchase? I bought this bike for my girlfriend and have had a hard time finding a cup holder that fits the contour of the handle bars.
do you think this type of bike is good for exercising, like hard cardio, or is it too relaxed geometry, and better of with a specialized SIRRUS? Also which Giant do you own?
I own the giant sedona dx. I guess any bike will give a cardio workout if you choose to push yourself. I sometimes ride single track trails on mine in a local state park and that is definitely a cardio workout.
Looks pretty comfortable honestly. Like, if you just took a hard rear-end pounding you could comfortably peddle home as you held your head high. More power to ‘em. However, as one who identifies as a “non-gay tig ole bitty lover” I’d prefer to continue developing back problems via the more hunched over Sirrus model, but hey, to each their own.

Great commentary! Thank you

Good luck with your new bike. Thx for the nice comment.

Nice overview, very detailed - Thanks. I'm seriously considering getting a 2.0 .
Thx for the nice comment. It's a very well made bike. Most people are ok with the brakes. only drawback for me.

Just bought a 3.0 but haven’t had a chance to use it yet because of the cold weather and working full time.
Thanks for the review! I wish the 2.0 had a single front chainring like the 1.0 and 3.0. Also not sure why the 3.0 went with a narrower 38mm tire.
I haven’t lived in Pennsylvania in 14 yrs but I know an Upper Darby accent when I hear one
close but actually SJ

Sad, to hear your disapointed. I have the older models without disc brake and I really think that It's high quality and quite fun to ride v_v ^_^

Thanks for this great video. Are disc breaks that much better than the traditional rim pads? Looking at either the 1.0 or 2.0
Although the brakes on this bike are not fantastic, I have to say that disc brakes are far superior to rim brakes especially when conditions are wet.
@@brianrichard1768 thank you I am 6’1” is it XL for me or more like L
@@ltai0001 Probably Large. I'm 6ft and I even ride my wife's medium and it does not feel small.

@@ltai0001 It's comparable. My neighbor has the cyprus and likes it very much.

It's got many miles on her now.....Brakes still below par

sorry, really don't remember. Amazon probably.

The 3 is actually a 9x3 or 27 speeds total.
In 2021 I believe it was 9 speed.

Right you are! Mine is an older model (3x9).
The rotors need to get ruffed up aka seeded in.
The unisex frame looks gay.

I just got one for 30 bucks. Taking parts off and selling that gay frame haha
