    I just bought a 2021 Crossroads 1.0, and I love it so much. It's easy to ride, comfortable, and seems very good quality. I want to ride it everyday! I'm very glad I spent a little more and didn't go with a big-box store bike. I went looking for a bike with disc brakes and a lot of gears, then I realized I didn't need all that. These V-brakes are simple, and 7 gears is plenty for where I ride.

    I’m still riding a 1996 local bike shop bike I “splurged” on. I might have spent a hundred more dollars back then but this bike has stood the test of time. I am blessed to have a great local shop I can take it to every year or so for a tune up. I normally ride about 100 miles a month but I’ve ridden it 386 miles since my state went on quarantine 5 weeks ago. Thanks for highlighting affordable, quality bikes.

      Thank you for your comment! I love the fact that you have a good local bicycle shop That makes riding so much better and fun especially when you can be part of that community. I really like to feature reasonably priced bikes at the moment I am having a hard time getting my hands on these and I guess that's a good thing because that means people have bought them and are out riding them. Thank you for sharing your story with us it's a kind I love to hear.

    It so warms my heart to see entry-level bikes such as this being set up as 1xs. New riders do not need multiple chainrings, nor would they really know how to use them. Cool.
    My wife just got her first bike in -- maybe -- 20 years. It's a 2x. I will soon convert it to 1x because it just makes sense.

      Yes we have to totally agree with the one by option being a fantastic system. We have a lot of people that think they're getting ripped off if they don't get 21 gears but really when it comes down to a simple gear system that is easy to understand and work is worth much more than a complicated gear system that people just don't know how to use correctly. One by is here to stay and I totally see why. I like your comment thank you so much for bringing this to light !

    I was debating between the crossroads and the roll. Went with the roll since this one was sold out, but I was wondering if you could give your thoughts on the main difference between the two. They look pretty similar to me but I don’t know much about bikes.

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +5

      Good question, both are excellent bikes the crossroads has a little bit slimmer tire but believe me is much wider than most fitness bikes. The crossroads ride is upright and comfortable but does allow for a little bit more fitness and speed geometry. Once you get into the roll definitely more comfortable with a flat foot on seat design. The roll has a much wider tire which gives you a wider platform and really stable ride. Basically if pure comfort and cruising is your main goal the roll is the bike. If you need a bike that is a little bit more fitness orientated the crossroads is the bike you might want to focus on. Both bikes are great and if you ride a bike you're going to get fitness no matter what position you're in. The role has a very comfortable and wide seat in the crossroads as a more fitness orientated saddle.

      There are several differences and you'd probably be best by comparing the specs on the Specialized website line by line but basically it will be an upgrade in components and some different colors. Both the 1.0 and 2.0 are fantastic bikes but if you have the extra money for the 2.0 it's always good to upgrade at the point of sale rather than to try to do it later. Thank you for your comment

      Yes this bike is fast. It is a fitness orientated bike with exceptional comfort for that category. I have no problem keeping up with fast riders or even leading the group with this bike. There are some characteristics of this bike that do not make it as fast as others but you have to remember comfort and upright positioning does have its disadvantages if speed is your main goal. Derailleurs snaps, axle bent, brakes rub very badly and still they don’t break ha. They are a nightmare. I won’t sugar coat it. WalMart bikes are a waste of resources.
    Then you have channels that said buy a Walmart bike(specially the Axum) and then upgrade. If you are not mechanically inclined, DON’T buy those bikes. Save and buy a bike like this.
    Don’t expect to have a great time or be real fast on a WalMart bike. Won’t happen.

They probably give their chiropractors more money each month because of the uncomfort they get from riding their current bicycles

      The sad part of the story is that people will buy Walmart bike and say. This is not for me. Those bikes are not for anyone ha. I’m at a point that if I can’t afford a new quality bike or equipment I will quit.
      For me you start on a $500 bike like this. Fall in love, keep the bike and then go and get a higher range MTB.
      Every time I see a Walmart bike. I go to the person and in less than 10 seconds I see problems and by any means I have a local bike shop expertise so imagine a real mechanic.
      I have saved the life of two people with loosen nuts on the wheels. LOOSENNNNN NUTS. Also you see wheels not turning because of brakes adjustments. I can text so much here hut won’t.
