    I liked the part where you showed holding the center and pinching the part you glued. Great tip. I use Elmer' s clear glue in the little quilling glue bottles.

    Thank you for all of this. I love the little needle nose bottles you recommend in a previous video. Also in your glue video I think you suggested using clear glue on dark papers. I started doing that and found that is all I use now for construction. I’m still a beginner so still learning. Thanks for your instructions.

    Hi. Thanks so much for this great info. Can you point me in the direction of one of your videos, or a video, to explain choosing backing paper and choosing the weight of the quilling strips dependent on what shapes you’re making? I’m particularly interested in making letter outlines. Thanks so much!!

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  3 года назад

      I don't tend to change my paper weight much depending on what I'm making. My technique for making outlines is to make double-thick strips for added weight and stability, but in order to cut down on the amount of supplies I have, I use my everyday paper strips for that. You can learn more about that here 👉 ruclips.net/video/gQnzgXpTv_Y/видео.html
      I know other quillers prefer to use precut card stock or to cut their own strips for edge work, but this works fine for me.
      As far as backgrounds, I use mat board. I've not yet made a video about it, but it seems like I should! I do have a little bit of info on mounting at the end of this post on my website 👉 www.thepaperycraftery.com/quilling/tips-for-gluing-quilling-to-a-background/
      I hope this all helps!

    Thank you for all your tips. I found it easier to fill my needle nose bottle by sqeezing it and slowly letting it out to help 'suck in' the glue. This way I can get it mostly full. May I ask you if you have found a strong quilling needle. Mine bent and closed up after one day and cannot open it evenly, sad I know but hey ho I am clumsy lol

      That is a great tip for the glue! I never would have thought of that 🙂 I have bent quite a few quilling tools because I drop them often. Unfortunately, it happens. Luckily, they're not too expensive to replace.

    I am very new to quilling,only started a few days ago.I have learnt a lot from your tutorials.Thankyou.Please could you tell me why you use wax paper and also are there any patterns I can buy where I can put my quilling on.I do not have a printer

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  Год назад

      The wax paper helps your quilling not stick to the surface that you're building it on, such as the cork board. There are other options you can use too. I made a video trying out different things and you can see that here 👉 ruclips.net/video/fn3zBxsV_zo/видео.html I think there are books that have patterns that you wouldn't have to print out, but I don't have any specific suggestions. You can also sketch out your own simple designs and use them as templates if you like 🙂

    How do you cover or fill in the pin holes in your paper when you pin your strips down?

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  4 месяца назад +1

      When I use pins, they never go through the quilling paper. I do use them in the spaces of the coils and shapes to hold pieces together while they dry. I also use them when I'm adding quilling over a template, but that's just to get the pieces in the right places. Once it's all set up, the quilling is removed and attached to its final surface and the template is either reused or thrown away. I hope that helps!

    Hi Meredith! Your videos are so helpful! Would you please share a link to the frames you use for framing your quilling projects? TIA! 😀

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  2 года назад +1

      The frames I show are a few years old. I got them from Michael's years ago and I just looked through their site but I didn't see the same frames. They do have a lot of sizes of shadow boxes and they will work just fine, too.

    How do I prevent the paper from tearing while I am rolling it?😊

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  Год назад

      You might be holding your paper at an angle when you're rolling it maybe? Or holding the strip too tightly? I haven't had that happen but maybe if someone else has a suggestion, they'll chime in here 🙂 I'm sorry I'm not more of a help with this one!

    What is the length and breadth of the strips with which the alphabet is made????? I use 1inch but it's too deep to fill it....

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  Год назад +1

      On my letters I used in the examples, I used 1/8” and also 1/4” strips. As I mentioned, most on-edge quilling uses wider 1/4” strips at a heavier weight like card stock for both the outlines and the details, but I wanted to show both sizes so crafters could make the decisions for themselves based on what is their preference or what they have available.

    Can you please tell if I could set a complete quilled loose (not on any paper background etc.) design in uv clear resin hard, heat gunning air bubbles and dried with a uv resin torch? Would I be able to do this without having to seal it?

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  2 года назад

      Honestly, I don’t have any experience with working with resin but I feel like I’ve seen earrings or pendants maybe with quilling in resin. Resin artists may be better to answer this one. Let me know how it turns out if you try it!

    I learned to “not “ roll the paper fast. I act like I am in a competition! My centers are always off. How far out does one let the paper unroll? Everyone says quilling is really easy but the techniques time or I am a slow learner.

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  2 года назад +1

      I hope you're not getting too frustrated! I wouldn't say quilling is necessarily easier than any other craft, but it does take practice. You're right that you don't need to roll very quickly. It is more important that your paper rolls evenly on your tool. A thicker paper may help your centers. How far you let your paper unroll can be a personal preference. I tend to not let my coils completely relax because I like a thicker outside edge. They do sell quilling boards that have different sized circle guides to that you can set your coils in and let them unroll to a set size. That may be helpful to you also.

    How do you glue your quilling without creating a big glue mess, and being able to see the glue on the finished project?

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  3 года назад

      Try using a needle nose glue bottle to apply as little as possible. Dabbing the glue on with a toothpick will work ok, too. You can also try brushing away any excess glue that you can see around your quilling with a small paintbrush.

    Hi. I was wondering if you have a pattern for a lantern about 1 inch or so. Thanks

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  2 года назад

      I'm sorry, I don't have one made. But I'm thinking that a simple square with a triangle and/or a little ring on top. There can't be too much detail on something that small. I hope that gives you a direction to start with, at least 😊

    How do you thin the glue when it thickens

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  2 года назад

      I prefer to use Elmer's Glue-All and I don't thin it at all. I do use thicker Tacky Glue for 3D quilling projects but I use that right out of the bottle as well.
