Hi Meenu, glad you found my tutorials helpful. I use Canson Mi-Tientes for making letters and other larger shapes. It’s 160 gsm. I find thicker card stock such as Bazzill is too thick for my liking but any quiller can decide on what they prefer to use.
Thank you for share your knowledge. I have a question: Is there a difference between the center of a coil made with a toothpick than other made with a slotted tool? Thanks again.
You’re very welcome Maribel. Yes the slotted tool leaves a crimp in the center while the toothpick does not. However the toothpick is not very tiny so the innermost ring can be rather large. Thank you for this perfect introduction video! You answered all of my questions -- but one. What kind of paper, or board, (or card stock?) should I be gluing the curled paper onto - so that the paper underneath the curls doesn't bend easily & I can frame it later if I want to?
Hi Sarah, welcome to quilling! I have glued my quilling to all types of paper and card stocks. If you plan to frame it then certainly stiff board such as mat boards are more suitable. Buckling and warping of your work surface becomes as issue if one uses too much glue or is the glue type is very watery. If you are worried then I suggest a medium weight paper, at least 80 lb text weight or even 80 lb card. I have a glue tutorial here that may be helpful: Quilling Glue Basics - 5 Helpful Tips for Beginners: ruclips.net/video/hGL5PDZmyto/видео.html
Thanks so much Sharona! I really think it depends on the child. My nephew was an excellent quiller when he learned it at age 9. However, I've taught age 6 as well. I cut the strips wider and gave her a toothpick so it would be easier to handle, and she enjoyed it thoroughly.

Yes great idea to use that Bishnu. It will create a larger inner coil for starting off and you’ll be able to get started in quilling making easy shapes. Have fun!
Hi simb231, you can use any paper you want for quilling, but I personally don't enjoy using construction paper myself. I find the fibers to be short and coarse on my fingers.

This was a very informative starter tutorial for would be Quillers, I hope you won't mind if I add a link to your demo on Memory Book Crafting fb group page.
Hi Labish, thanks for watching! If you are struggling with that weight of paper, I suggest trying something a little thicker. When I'm making letters, I'm using a paper by Canson, called Mi-Tientes. Weight: 98 lb / 160 gsm (heftier than standard quilling paper) Width: 1/4" (I cut them myself using a Cricut Explore) Sheet Size: 8½ × 11” or 19 × 25” from fine art stores Amazon Affiliate Link: amzn.to/2zpVAg2
A metal one to prevent myself from accidentally cutting into it. I have an updated video about cutting your own strips here: ruclips.net/video/Ko6SsVxVPco/видео.html
Oh yes that part is made of cork. It prevents slipping against the paper as you cut. I can’t remember where I got it from but perhaps you can try a local art supply store? They would have more options. Or a store that carries supplies for drafting - not like a craft store.
Oh you're right Susan. I guess it's sold out for now. I did find another listing, but this 2nd edition seems to be more expensive from what I recall: amzn.to/35DQbPb. I also have seen the book at Michaels too.
Thanks so much Brhtu! Please give it a try. Will this make you rich? Yes! You will be rich in happiness and serenity as you learn so many new skills in handling paper.
whats the fifference of rolling with ur finger vs rolling with d needle? nxt time will u type the name of ur creation while being closed up ..ty...cant see the name in ur matrix....hahah..im screenshotting ur creations. so i can see the detail

Paper Zen - Cecelia Louie it’s unavailable but I typed it in and they range from $30-$900. Crazy right?
what is the thickness of the paper, I am trying with 60 GSM paper but result is not good /?//
Hi Labish, thanks for watching! If you are struggling with that weight of paper, I suggest trying something a little thicker. When I'm making letters, I'm using a paper by Canson, called Mi-Tientes.
Weight: 98 lb / 160 gsm (heftier than standard quilling paper)
Width: 1/4" (I cut them myself using a Cricut Explore)
Sheet Size: 8½ × 11” or 19 × 25” from fine art stores

@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie thank you for your reply I will definitely try as you said
You’re welcome! I hope it helps you! I’d love to hear how changing the paper turns out.
what kind of ruler did you use?
A metal one to prevent myself from accidentally cutting into it. I have an updated video about cutting your own strips here: ruclips.net/video/Ko6SsVxVPco/видео.html
@@PaperZenCeceliaLouie thank you, the other side of the ruler that rough part is that DIY? I can't find metal rulers like that online.
Oh yes that part is made of cork. It prevents slipping against the paper as you cut. I can’t remember where I got it from but perhaps you can try a local art supply store? They would have more options. Or a store that carries supplies for drafting - not like a craft store.
Thank you😊
The book you mentioned is no longer available at Amazon.
Oh you're right Susan. I guess it's sold out for now. I did find another listing, but this 2nd edition seems to be more expensive from what I recall: amzn.to/35DQbPb. I also have seen the book at Michaels too.
i love u..i love ur creations.....just want to try this...will this make me rich? of ever i wanted to sell it??
Thanks so much Brhtu! Please give it a try. Will this make you rich? Yes! You will be rich in happiness and serenity as you learn so many new skills in handling paper.
Whoops, found it!
How young of students has anyone tried this with?
It depends on each child. It’s easy to just try it with a few strips of paper to see if they like it.
