Nothing like being 2 years too late to the party! I just stumbled across your channel. I think my New Year resolution is to try new things that has me out of my comfort zone. Thank you for sharing your talent. Im going to give this a try in 2025
I am only an admirer of your work at this point Marilyn, not in the space/place/mind set to even attempt this, YET. You, my Dear, are an absolute Paper Wizard or Paper Whisperer. You do BEAUTIFUL WORK. 🌈
I am definitely going to make this. My sister's name starts with an L and her birthday is soon. I have been looking for a Design to make her monogram and today I have found it! Thank you for sharing this with us!
I've watched so many videos, and you are absolutely my favorite. I love the tone of your voice. (Some people have really irritating voices), and thank you for the time and effort you are putting into your videos. I highly enjoy every one, and hope some day I will be as talented as you.
Thank you for imparting your knowledge here. I’ve only been quilling cards to mail to people for about 6 years & have learned by trial & error method how to do it. You’re tips are awesome. Thank you again!
Lovely Meredith and again very well explained, demonstrated and filmed. I particularly like the yellow and orange monogram “L”, I especially liked the modern design - the three offset tight coils on either side of the descender were a lovely touch. I have struggled with monograms and found that investing in heavier weight cardstock and cutting my own quilling strips really helped. I know that wouldn’t be for everyone but it worked better for me. Thank you for sharing another excellent video Meredith. 😘 ❤
Thank you! As I mentioned in the video, heavier strips are traditionally used for this technique, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew they could use what they had and it could still work.
Washi tape usually comes off cotton paper easily, but if there is wood pulp component, it may tear. Tips for best results: Warm the tape briefly with a hair dryer or heat tool to soften the glue. Then, pull it off very slowly at an acute angle, pinching the end between thumb and index finger and running your thumbnail touching or nearly touching the remaining tape.
Thank you for the video! I have a question. On the blue L, the curly pieces on the outside, do they just lay on top of each other? The ones that overlap. Or do you slit the paper and slide them over each other? I hope that makes sense.
It does make sense and it's a great question 🙂 As far as the scrolls outside of the letter itself, I cut the scrolls where they meet another so it looks like they are just crossing but they are actually separate pieces. I hope that helps!
re washing tape sticking: 2 helps = 1) stick the tape onto your clothes a time or two to remove some of the stickiness before placing it on the paper. 2) use a low setting heat gun / hair dryer on the tape a few seconds before pulling the tape off the paper: comes off easier/less chance of damaging the crafted project
Great question and I apologize that I missed that point! I only used the double-thick paper for the outline. And with a heavier paper, you would not need to double up at all.
These are precut paper strips used for quilling. I have links to what I use in the description box for each video. They are often companies based in the US but I believe they ship internationally.
I made the ones that I used in this video on another one. You can see how I did it here 👉ruclips.net/video/DCkLzU7lHGs/видео.html But I'm sorry, I don't have a source for free premade ones though.
Does the tacky glue dry ‘tacky’ ? I use art glitter but find at times it seems a little watery. I’m very, very new to quilling so despite my age I’m a complete novice.😊 I can only dream that I could create something as beautiful as this. 😊
Tacky Glue does fry completely. It’s “tacky” because it is a thicker glue and it can hold things together even before it dries. I don’t use it for all quilling, usually just for 3D shapes, but I’ll always mention it when I use it in my projects.
That might be the reason. Either that or you used too much glue. By your description it seems that your paper was wet due to too much glue🙂. Try it again but with less glue, thinner line but making sure every inch of the strip is touched with it. Do you have a needle nose glue bottle?
This is exactly what I came here to say in my reply! There are some precut strips that are an extremely light weight. I like to use Quilled Creations for this technique because they make a nice medium weight that works really well for double-thick. And like Anamarija wrote, a very, very thin line of glue all the way along the length of the strip is key.
I like a paper that’s got a bit of weight to it for beginners but not as heavy as card stock. I usually recommend the paper from Quilled Creations because I think their strips make very consistent coils that are easy to shape 🙂
I stopped selling a few years ago so I may not have the best formula for pricing but you can definitely get some advice online that might be more up to date.
Hmmm, I'm guessing your comment is about the moment when I take away the template to show the embossed lines underneath? Just to clear up any confusion, I do mention in the video how the lines are tricky to pick up on camera because they are just indents on the backing board. I know it's not ideal, but that's just the nature of this technique. Sorry for the frustration. If I'm misunderstanding, feel free to reach out and I'll explain anything else I can 🙂
Your tip on keeping the glue flowing easily really helped me. Thnx.
That’s great! Glad to help a bit 🤩
Thank you. I've been learning so much from you.
Thank you
Thank you
You’re so kind! Thanks for watching!!

Gracias por tu amabilidad, como siempre.

Are you using your doubled up paper for your outline only or for the entire project?
Great question and I apologize that I missed that point! I only used the double-thick paper for the outline. And with a heavier paper, you would not need to double up at all.
This is beautiful
From Nigeria please this is fun how do I get those papers and what type of paper are those

Where can I go to get free printable monogram templates? Thank you! Love you channel!

I tried the double fold for a thicker boarder but my paper is warped and wavy. Looks terrible. I used a precut strip pack. Too cheap?

What weight paper is best to use for a beginner 😮

how do you price your work?
I stopped selling a few years ago so I may not have the best formula for pricing but you can definitely get some advice online that might be more up to date.
Your final surface is called?
I used 5” x 7” white mat board for this project. There is a link in the description box of the video if you’re interested in picking some up 🙂
Nothing is visible only hand n finger are seen 😂
