    Nice video. Bought two acaras last week after your community aquarium video. They are awesome with cories and angels. Tank(40) too small for an oscar, would eat cories. Acara is off the chart, stealing showcase title from angels. They act like they are glad to see you, just hungry. Thanks for recommending

    I see you guys with all of these tanks set up and my question is how the hell do you manage the electric bill? I had one 120 gallon tank and two 75 gallon tanks running in my home it it drove my electric bill up more than 100 bucks every month. The 120 gallon was running an FX6 and I had each of the two 75 gallons were running 2 Fluval 407's. The 120 had a 300 watt heater and a 200 watt for back up and each of the 75 gallons were running a 300 watt heater. The 120 gallon was main show tank so no sponge filter but the 2 75 gallons had an air pump to run the sponge filters. Even though they were needed for filtration, I like running sponge filters in my tank for the bacteria housing.
    Now I know I could have just ran one 407 on each of the 75 gallons, but these were all show tanks placed around my home. I like to run a main filter and a polishing filter to get the clearest water. After a couple months of my electric bill being way higher than I could wrap my head around. I dismantled the two 75 gallons and sold the fish to a local fish store for half of their value. It sucked because I love my fish, but that electric bill was hurting my feelings even more. One of the 75 was a discus tank, one was a central american tank with mainly gorgeous severum in it and the 120 gallon that I still have is my Peacock tank. By the way I have 4 severum and 2 frontosa in their with the 16 peacocks and they are all thriving. Says a lot about trying things in this hobby.
    So if anyone has some info on what they do to keep their electric bill down running multiple large tanks. Id love to hear it. I no longer have the 75 gallon tanks, but I wouldn't mind setting up a 210.

    • @DanieL-by6xs
      @DanieL-by6xs Год назад

      Keep fish that to not require high water temperature. It's the heater(s) that really jacks up the bill. My 75 gallon tank uses a 250 watt heater to keep water temp at @78 degrees in basement temp of around 63-64 degrees during winter months. The heater alone cost 21 dollars a month to run. My electricity rate is 18 cents per kilowatt.
      My 10 watt LED light costs 43 cents a month to run.
      My Fluval 305 canister costs 2.07 a month to run.
      My Penguin HOB costs 1.43 a month to run.
